I am unable to use a value box in a model that points to a datedif formula in my spreadsheet.  I get an "unsupported" function error.  Has anybody found a work around for this?

  • Excel Formulas in Xcelsius

    Hi Everyone
My company is currently trialing the Xcelsius software.
I was trying it out yesterday and came across an error.
I have setup a simple spreadsheet that will allow me to dial in some simple parameters and have the spreadsheet return a name.
The spreadsheet looks at a table and depending on the parameters will return 1 or more names.
    the formula i use is,
    ={IF(ISERROR(INDEX($A$1:$B$20,SMALL(IF($A$1:$B$20=$E$2,ROW($A$1:$B$20)),ROW(1:1)),1)),"",INDEX($A$1:$B$20,SMALL(IF($A$1:$B$20=$E$2,ROW($A$1:$B$20)),ROW(1:1)),1))}
Xcelsius dose not like it and an error comes up when i try to Export the spreadsheet.
Is this because i only have the trial version, or is Xcelsius not able to handle this type of formula?
I have just joined this forum, and am unsure if i can link the sheet.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Chris,
Xcelsius supports only limited excel functions. To my knowledge, ISERROR is not supported. That probably is the reason for the error you are getting.
Please go through the list of supported functions in Ch 23 of the user guide

  • Using the SUMIF formula in Xcelsiuis

    Hi,
I am trying to use the =sum(if( array formula in Xcelsius - but cant crack it. The formula seems to be working in offline mode and when i preview it. But when i launch the dashboard via a portal - the formula returns 0 value. Wanted to understand that is there something wrong that i am doing or does the formula not work in xcelsius ?
    Thanks !

    Hi Pat,
"=SUM(B3-C3)" works.  Another option is "=B3-C3" No quotations.
The bottom Right corner of A3 has a o click & drag down page.
Alternatively click A3 then the position down the page you would like to end the formula, then got to Insert, Fill, Fill Down.  NB I have set up a shortcut for it.
    Enjoy
    Hope this helps

  • Embedding Xcelsius Dashboard using calculated fields (not static field)

    Hi,
I can succesfully embed the Xcelsius dashboard toi Crystal and maintain the correct assignments in the data consumer and Flash Binding Expert.  When the data changes in Crystal Reports, the chart is also changed however I am having problems when I want to use a value slider to manipulate data...When I base the chart data on a column of values that is generated using a formula for example.  Sales  * Percentage Increase.  I can not get this to work.
When I run the report, I only see the static data which was used when the Xcelsius dashboard was generated.
Using the flash binding expert I assign the data values to existing fields in the report, but I am wanting to assign the data values to this calculated range which is only in the Xcelsius spreadsheet, please help me in how I can do this.
    Thanks,
    Rich

Hi this is solved, i just needed to link the field to the original field, not the formula.  Xcelsius makes the connections in the background

  • Formula Line Breaks

I'm trying to format text so that there are line breaks in a generated string, but in such a way that it can work with Xcelsius.
I'm aware that you can use CHAR(10) in Excel to make a line break, but Xcelsius doesn't like the Char function.
    Here is my formula: ="Item A:" & C39 & "Item B:" & C40
I want it to look like:
    Item A:
    Information from C39
    Item B:
    Information from C40
Does anyone know a way to have line breaks in a formula that Xcelsius can accept? The object is to get the text into a text box.
    Thanks in advance!

    Use the following Formula ..
    ="Item A:"&"
    "&B3&"
    "&"Item B:"&"
    "&B4
if you want the Line break in formula "Item A:"&" then Hit ALt+ Enter .it will come in new line..
Xcelsius can accept the line breaks in a formula.
    Hope this helps.

  • Issue with Xcelsius reading BEx Formula Variable

I have a dashboard that is connected directly to a BEx query via a SAP Netweaver BW Connection. The BEx query has several characteristics restricted by mandatory variables (mostly User Exit type). So when I publish/launch my dashboard in the Portal, my dashboard is able to read in all values passed at the BEx prompt page, except one. I have one formula variable that is mandatory called Duration, but whenever I try to map the "Current Filter Value (Key)" or "Current Filter Value (Text)" in my connection to an Excel cell in my dashboard, it causes my dashboard to hang on the "Initializing..." screen indefinitely.
Does anybody know if there is something special I need to do in order to have my dashboard properly read in the value from a formula variable?

  • Xcelsius - Excel Functions and Formulas

I am trying to do some caluclations within Xcelsius using Excel.  I am trying to use the CORRELATION and COVARIANCE function in Excel, but when I preview my calculations on the canvas it says Xcelsius does not support these functions.  Is there a problem on my end or can Xcelsius not use these functions?  Also I am trying to use Visual Basic in Excel, but it seems Xcelsius does not support that either.  Is this true?
Edited by: Redhawk on Apr 6, 2009 5:47 PM

    Hi
indeed not all Excel functions are supported in XCelsius. And you also cannot use macros.
Please have a look at the chapter Supported Excel Functions in the XCelsius 2008 User Guide.
You can download the guide here: [http://service.sap.com/bosap-support].

  • Xcelsius what-if with formula enabled cell

    Dear Friends,
    Dear Friends,
How I can map a formula enabled cell to a single value component for what-if?
    Scenario:
I have actual, budget and simulation value. A1=Actual, B1=Budget and C1=Simulation Value. A1 and B1 will change dynamically according to some filters.
I have a slider which mapped to C1. The initial value to the slider should be Actual. That is C1=A1.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ajish George

    Hi Ashish,
The slider should be pointed to cell which would be involved in the Formula cell. For e.g. if Cell C1=A1+B1, then slider should be pointing to cell A1 and BI.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
    Amit

  • Calculated Column using IF statement with DATEIF formula

I have a dated column that includes a date when a position is vacated otherwise the field is blank if the position is still filled. I want a calculated column to return the number of days the position has been vancant from the date that is listed to today.
So the following was entered & works.....
    =DATEDIF([Vacancy Date],Today,"d")
The delima is that it is also returning a value when there is no date in the dated column but it returns a funky number 42,069. What I want it to return when the dated column is blank is blank or zero would work too. I don't know how to incorporate that
    into this formula.

You are correct it no longer reads that column as Today.... So is there anyway to make this a calculated column for my purposes?
I'm going to use SharePoint list for a Position Pool & managing positions within a large department. What I'm attempting to do with this column is have a current count of the number of days since a position has been vacant. Our system that I pull the
position data from will give me the vacancy date for those positions & where the position is filled the date field will be blank. So I'm wanting this column to return a 0 when the position is listed as filled & the number of days vacant based on the
vacancy date column I have. Is there any way to make this work in SharePoint? Obviously I can make that work in Excel however my task was to load raw data into SharePoint & have SharePoint do the work if possible with little to no human intervention prior
    to loading to SharePoint.
    Thank you,

  • Unable to create a formula on iPad and iPhone

I'm able to create a formula  (like =DATEDIF) using Numbers on my MacBook, but can't get it to work using Numbers for iOS.
It says in the manual (in the app) that you can just touch the formula you want to use, but that doesn't seem to work here
When I touch DATEDIF in the list, I go straight to the explanation of this function, the formula refuses to be activated.
Moving a spreadsheet through iTunes from the Mac to the mobile units works OK.
That document functions then fine when I change a date in one of the cells that the formula uses on the iPad - but I can't create a similar formula in iOS.
It's probably something simple that I don't see, so I would be grateful if one of you could point me in the right direction

    OK, now I've tried again...
And all of a sudden, it works!
When trying again (opening the list where you find the formula), the app switched its language (the iPad uses Norwegian as default, the app was using English).
What caused this, I don't know
But, most important: now the app behaves as it should

  • Information from formula that returns an array is not shown on chart

    Hello experts,
I have a chart (combination) which should show information from a group of cells that have a formula in it and returns an array ().
    {=SUM((Plan1!L2:L43=L2)(Plan1!I2:I43=D3)Plan1!M2:M43)}
In the spreadsheet and on the chart, while developing the dashboard, it shows perfectly.
What happens is that while previewing.....no data is shown at all on the chart.
Please advise on how to solve it.
Carlos Henrique Matos da Silva - SAP BusinessObjects BI - Brazil.

    Hi Carlos,
Excel Array entered formulae are not supported in Xcelsius.
When you are designing the dashboard Xcelsius is using native Excel functrionality and calculation engine to display the results.  When you preview the dashboard Xcelsius convertys all of the spreadsheet formulae to Flash/ActionScript which does not have the equivalent array functionality, adn so when previewed the results do not show.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I create a formula in Numbers that will only sum a set number of entries?

I'm trying to create a spreadsheet that will keep track of my expenses. In Table 1, I have only the totals for each spending category. All the other tables represent each of the spending categories, which contain all the transaction entries. In Table 1, I created a drop down menu with the following five options:
    Last 30 Days
    Last 365 Days
    This Month
    Last Month
    All Time
The numerical entries in Table 1 correspond exactly to the entries of the respective footer rows. At the moment, the sum in each of the footer rows adds up all the transaction entries, but I want to be able to add up only the entries that satisfy the selected drop-down menu option.
So how can I create a conditional formula in each of the footer rows that will allow me to do this?

    Hi tsp,
compare each date entry with today's date
The TODAY function will automatically update as your time zone crosses midnight.
Here is a single-cell table to use as a reference (or you could place this somewhere in a larger table)
    =TODAY()
Calculating days until a task must be done
    C2 (and Fill Down)
    =DATEDIF(Today::A$1,B2,"D")
But only if your dog can wait 3 days for a walk .

    Ian.

  • Calculations in Xcelsius using data generated by a Web Service Connection

    Hi,
I have set up a web service connection to pull in 4 columns of data: 1. CATEGORY  2. SUBCATEGORY 3. PRODUCT TYPE   4.#OFCALLS.  There will be anywhere from 1 to 500 rows of data depending on day of week and time of day.  The web service sorts the list by #OFCALLS descending. The OUTPUT VALUES of the web service connection are mapped to cells A19:D518.
Formulas in the spreadsheet take the Top 10 from the list and populate it to cells  A4:D13.  A formula in cell D15 sums the #OFCALLS for the entire web service connection output (A19:D518).
The data in A4:D15 is mapped to a spreadsheet table on my canvas.   When the report generates, the data from the TOP 10 of the web service connection populates properly, but the cell that should reflect the TOTAL#OFCALLS (D15) shows zero.
Is it not possible to do additional calculations in the spreadsheet based on data generated by the web service connection?  A major difference between using an XML Map and a Web Service Connection is the XML Map actually populates the spreadsheet with the new data when it is refreshed.  The Web Service connection data never actually appears in the spreadsheet itself, even though it updates to the appropriate vessel on the canvas.   This makes me think that no additional calculations can be done in the spreadsheet based on the web service connection data.
Can anyone tell me if that is correct?  If so, then the web service connection would also have to pull in the TOTAL#OFCALLS along with the other data.   This would also seem to greatly limit what you could do with data generated by a web service connection, so I am hoping I am wrong and just don't understand how to do this.
Can anyone clarify this for me?  If I failed to give any pertinent info let me know what it is, and I will update my post.
    Thanks!

I have seen similar behavior as well.  I have live data coming into Xcelsius from a data connection.
    A supported Excel formula
    =IF(ISBLANK(J2),I2,VALUE(TODAY()-J2))
is then applied to one of the columns to create an additional derived column.
Taking a snapshot of the data shows that the derived column is being populated, however the controls I've tried hooking up to the derived column (charts and labels) are always empty.
Information on whether this is supported would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    David

  • Formula to calculate days to first non-empty cell

    Hi all,
I'm creating a spreadsheet to track exercise. The first column is the date, the other columns are mnemonics, one for each exercise. For each day I do some exercise, I create a row with the date and an 'x' in the column for each exercise performed. New dates are added near the top, like a stack of plates. I would like a row near the top to hold the number of days since the exercise associated with that column was last performed. What function can calculate the difference between the current date and the date in the first row that has an 'x'? This is also to ask what function can find the first row that has an 'x' in the column?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
Here is one approach that does what you describe:
The formula in B2 of the 'Days since Last Performed Table', copied right, is:
                =DATEDIF(INDEX(Table 1::$A,MATCH(TRUE,Table 1::B,0)),TODAY(),"D")
This uses the MATCH function to find the row number where the first check appears, then feeds that to INDEX which returns the date on that row.  Then DATEDIF calculates the difference in days between the date on that row and today's date.
This assumes the table is sorted as you describe, latest dates near the top. You don't need consecutive dates for this to work.
The cells with the checkmarks are formatted like this. Their value, when checked, is TRUE.

  • Changing the behavior of a XCelsius 2008 Dashboard

    Hello all,
i have a problem with the coded behavior of a dashboard in xcelsius 2008.
    The main scene is:
there is an edit-field on the surface and a lot of checkboxes
The user enters an internal number into the edit and then klicks on an checkbox to start a crystal-report
this is the actual version and its ok: report starts and the entered number is given as a parameter to the report (via open-document)
But the new requierement is, that if the user has clicked several checkboxes (and on the surface you can see several checkmarks) to start several reports and then reenter the given number in the editfield, all previous checkmarks had to be cleared on the canvas.
I tried this in excel but i allways get a circular reference while trying to memorize the first number for a comparison with the next input.
Perhaps it is more logical problem, but as a beginner on xcelsius i dont know much about the possibilities of coding within the excelshhet - is it possible to use vba-scripting for this?
because if i use only formulas i can't solve this problem/requirement.
    Can anyone help, please?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your quick answer.
The reset-button is also in the Dashboard, but the idea was, that this action can be implemented, so that the user only has to insert numbers without clicking another element (the reset button) It was an idea of comfort to handle this implicitly.
    Thanks
