DateDiff Equivalent

I'm looking for an Oracle Equivalent to MS SQL's datediff() function. I have to run a SELECT against a production server where I cannot post a function, so I have to do this entirely in a TSQL statement using only built in functions. I need to find all records where two datetime fields are more than 6 hours apart.
Is this something I can create relatively simply using EXTRACT or is there a better way to do this?
Thank you.
Robert

select *
  from t2
where abs(dt2 - dt1) > (6/24);If dt2 would always be greater than or equal to dt1, you wouldn't need the ABS function.

  • Datediff equivalent in Oracle

    Hi,
    In SQL Server, there is a function datediff with datepart 'q'/quarter which behaves as follows :--
    select datediff(q,'03-30-2005','04-01-2005') will return 1
    datediff(q,start date,end date)
    i.e it takes the quarter in which the start date exists and subtracts it from the quarter in which the end date exists.
    I need the equivalent for the above in Oracle.
    I found the below in OMWB document :--
    Equivalent as : round(months_between(date2, date1)/3)
    But this will not work for particular data, since the logic in which SQL Server executes the DATEDIFF is different as I have explained above. Please can anyone give the exact equivalent if any available.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Tom Kyte has written a datediff function for Oracle here:
    http://osi.oracle.com/~tkyte/Misc/DateDiff.html
    You could modify it to include quarters like so:
    scott@ORA92> create or replace function datediff
      2    (p_what in varchar2,
      3       p_d1   in date,
      4       p_d2   in date)
      5    return number
      6  as
      7    l_result    number;
      8  begin
      9    if upper (p_what) = 'Q' then
    10        l_result := ((to_char (p_d2, 'yyyy') - to_char (p_d1, 'yyyy')) * 4)
    11                 + (to_char (p_d2, 'q') - to_char (p_d1, 'q'));
    12    else
    13        select (p_d2-p_d1) *
    14            decode (upper (p_what),
    15                 'SS', 24*60*60,
    16                 'MI', 24*60,

    21    end if;
    22    return l_result;

  • Dateadd equivalent in Webi reporting

    Hi,
    I need to do some date manipulations in Web Intelligence on the reporting side - at least until our developers add some additional items to our universe.  Is there a way to add hours and/or minutes to a time - say to move it one hour ahead?  I know that in sql it's simple to use dateadd or similar but not sure how to do it in webi.
    While I'm asking, is there also a datediff equivalent?
    Thanks!
    John

    The Function in WebI is RelativeDate(date input_date; integer num_days ).
    It returns the Date that is Input date + number of days.
    For adding time, you can divide a day by hours/seconds.
    eg : RelativeDate(ExampleDate;0.004)
    ExampleDate = 01/01/01 2:00 PM
    New Date = 01/01/01 2:05 PM

  • Equivalent of MS Access First Function in SQL for Group By

    We previously had an Access database performing operations. We are now converting it over to SQL. There are queries in Access that use the "First" function to insert data, which I have not been able to find the equivalent to in SQL. Below is an
    example showing the data used, the SQL syntax and the results that it would produce.
    tbl_Data
    FirstN LastN CustNum TDate SalesPer
    Jim Smith 11111 5/10/2014 Jim Johnson
    Sally Jones 22222 5/12/2014 Alan Brown
    Sally Jones 22222 5/10/2014 Ben Doers
    Jim Smith 11111 5/12/2014 Jim Johnson
    Frank Oliver 33333 5/15/2014 Jim Johnson
    Results to be inserted into tbl_Main
    FName LName CustID TransDate SalesPerson
    Jim Smith 11111 5/10/2014 Jim Johnson
    Sally Jones 22222 5/10/2014 Ben Doers
    Frank Oliver 33333 5/15/2014 Jim Johnson
    Below is the SQL that will produce this
    INSERT INTO tbl_Main ( FName, LName, CustID, TransDate, SalesPerson)
    SELECT td.FirstN, td.LastN, td.CustNum, First(td.TDate) As SellDate, First(td.SalesPer) As SP
    FROM tbl_Data td
    GROUP BY td.FirstN, td.LastN, td.Cust;
    If anyone could assist me in an alternative that I could use in SQL to yield the same results, I'd appreciate it.

    tbl_Data
    FirstN LastN CustNum TDate SalesPer
    Jim Smith 11111 5/10/2014 Jim Johnson
    Sally Jones 22222 5/12/2014 Alan Brown
    Sally Jones 22222 5/10/2014 Ben Doers
    Jim Smith 11111 5/12/2014 Jim Johnson
    Frank Oliver 33333 5/15/2014 Jim Johnson
    Results to be inserted into tbl_Main
    FName LName CustID TransDate SalesPerson
    Jim Smith 11111 5/10/2014 Jim Johnson
    Sally Jones 22222 5/10/2014 Ben Doers
    Frank Oliver 33333 5/15/2014 Jim Johnson
    Below is the SQL that will produce this
    INSERT INTO tbl_Main ( FName, LName, CustID, TransDate, SalesPerson)
    SELECT td.FirstN, td.LastN, td.CustNum, First(td.TDate) As SellDate, First(td.SalesPer) As SP
    FROM tbl_Data td
    GROUP BY td.FirstN, td.LastN, td.Cust;
    As an aside that query is not correct in Access -  because you did not specify an ORDER BY the resultset has no particular order so you could get either row for Jim or Sally.
    It's a bit of a tricky one as it may on the surface appear that the resultset is always returned in a consistent order but this is not guaranteed (not in Access and certainly not in SQL server)

  • Is there a logic:match equivalent for JSTL?

    In a search page I execute a query which returns an array of objects (All objects are of the same object type and are cast to Object[]) and each object has many attributes. I tried using <logic:iterate>, but I was never successful in having it display any results. I believe this had something to do with the entire array being passed via session scope instead of just one record and me not specifying it properly with <logic:iterate>. I was able to successfully use <c:forEach> and it worked right away. I stuck with using that because of its "just works" ability in addition to using a lot of other JSTL code. However, one of the attributes that is being printed out needs to be parsed and is of the form "Yxxx". <logic:match> covers this very nicely, but when I specify it in the below code it is not able to find my variable in any scope.
    <c:forEach var="myResults" items="${sessionScope.result}" varStatus="status">
        <logic:match parameter='${myResults}' property='pin' value='Y'>
            <c:out value="Preeti"/>
        </logic:match>
    </c:forEach>I have done several google searches, but I haven't found a JSTL equivalent for <logic:match>. If there is one could someone please tell me what it is? In addition, although <logic:match> is great I still need to print out a substring of that attribute. Could someone tell me how to do that? If this is not possible could someone please tell me if its possible to use <logic:iterate> with an array of objects like I was attempting to do initially so that I could use <logic:match> at least?
    Thanks to all of you for your time.

    Yes you can use the logic:iterate tag. I think you have to specify the type of the exposed variable though. I prefer the forEach loop.
    I think you are using the wrong attribute in the logic:match tag. You should be using the "name" attribute rather than "parameter"
    Parameter attribute refers you to a request parameter, and I pretty sure you don't want that.
    So given the collection of objects in the session attribute "result"
    This should loop through them all, and see if they start with the letter 'Y'
    <c:forEach var="myResults" items="${sessionScope.result}" varStatus="status">
        <logic:match name='myResults' property='pin' value='Y'>
            <c:out value="Preeti"/>
        </logic:match>
    </c:forEach>As for the latter bit, are you using a JSP2 container and JSTL1.1? It would appear so seeing as you are trying to use EL expressions in the logic:match tag.
    If so, you could make use of the JSTL function library:
    <c:forEach var="myResults" items="${sessionScope.result}" varStatus="status">
       <c:if test='${fn:startsWith(myResults.pin, "Y")}'>
          <c:out value="${fn:substring(myResults.pin, 1, -1)}"/>
        </c:if>
    </c:forEach>And I've just spotted a very cool function in there: substringAfter
    <c:forEach var="myResults" items="${sessionScope.result}" varStatus="status">
          <c:out value='${fn:substringAfter(myResults.pin, 'Y')}'/>
    </c:forEach>Cheers,

  • Create a table in SQL with datatype equivalent to LongBlob

    I have a mySQL or phpMyadmin table (nor sure) (with longblob fields) that I want to convert to SQL Server.
    Here is a link to a Rar with two files, the 'ORIGINAL CODE.sql' is the original code sample and the 'NEW_SQL_CODE.sql' is the code I am writing in SQL to create a database.
    Click to download the two files.
    I fail to make the insert in the 'NEW_SQL_CODE.sql', it says (translated from spanish) something like "The binary data will be truncated"
    INSERT INTO inmuebles_fotos (ci_inm, pos, foto, mini, comentario, inet, impr_cartel, impr_visita) VALUES
    (6, 0, 0xffd8ffe000104a46494600010100000100010...etc...
    I don’t know how if I have defined the wrong data type (image) equivalent to the MySQL LongBlob. All I want to do is to make that insert in SQL and save that image as jpg if possible. I don't know if it's not posible in SQL and can only
    be done in MySQL.
    Thanks for any help.

    The original table is not mine; I am just trying to save the images as .jpg in hard drive.
    Here is the original table I have that has 500Mb in pictures, in the sample there is only 1 picture:
    CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `inmuebles_fotos` (
    `ci_inm` int(10) unsigned DEFAULT NULL,
    `pos` smallint(6) DEFAULT NULL,
    `foto` longblob,
    `mini` longblob,
    `comentario` varchar(100) DEFAULT NULL,
    `inet` tinyint(3) unsigned DEFAULT '0',
    `impr_cartel` smallint(6) DEFAULT '0',
    `impr_visita` smallint(6) DEFAULT '0'
    ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1;
    And here is the equivalent table in SQL that I am trying to create to import al registers so I can save the pictures from SQL Server that is what we use here.
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[inmuebles_fotos2](
    [ci_inm] [int] NULL,
    [pos] [int] NULL,
    [foto] [image] NULL,
    [mini] [image] NULL,
    [comentario] [varchar](1) NULL,
    [inet] [int] NULL,
    [impr_cartel] [int] NULL,
    [impr_visita] [int] NULL
    Sorry for the trouble, I am trying everything I get my hands on until I get to save those images in “0x1234567890ABCDE…….” Format.
    I'll try anything you sugest me but I have only use SQL Server so that's why I'm trying this road first.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Shared DateVar in Subreport and datediff calculation in Main Report?

    Hello experts,
    I am using CRXI sp2.  I have a report that contains two subreports for different dates in the same date field that are identified by a Service Code.  The subreports have been placed in the same group footer 1a to be displayed and the calculation resides in the main report group footer 1b.  The shared variables are as follows:
    whileprintingrecords;
    shared datevar Codedate5473;
    Codedate5473:={@Codedate5473};
    and
    whileprintingrecords;
    shared Datevar Codedate5623;
    Codedate5623:={@Codedate5623}
    The main report has the following calculation is in group footer 1a.
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Shared numbervar daysbetween;
    if (isnull({@Shared 5623})or isnull({@Shared 5473})) then 0
    else daysbetween:= datediff("d",{@Shared 5623},{@Shared 5473})
    This returns negative numbers as well as calculations where one of the shared variables is null.
    I reset the calculation in the report header as well.
    Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi Kevin,
    I can reproduce your issue, As per my knowledge the crystal will make some issues in null value computation as well as  shared variable  computation
    In your report i can see , you tried to access values from subreport to main report through shared variable. that will make problem. we can access values from main report to subreport without any issue using shared..dont ask me the reason..i am not the right person to say that... lol.
    The another wrong thing  i was found in your formula is , you are not resetting the shared variable any where.. so once the date field is null, the shared variable returning the previous value.
    So this is the solution for you..
    1,You have to add one more subreport for displaying your result., Lets say 'Sub report3'
    and create a formula, like.(Same which you have write before for the result)
    shared datevar Codedate5473;
    shared Datevar Codedate5623;
    numbervar daysbetween;
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    daysbetween:= datediff("d",Codedate5473,Codedate5623);
    daysbetween;
    2, Re- write your first two formulas like this
    For Subreport1,
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    shared dateVar Codedate5473;
    if isnull({Codedate5473}) then
    Codedate5473:=date(0,0,0)
    else
    Codedate5473:=date({Codedate5473});
    For subreport2
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    shared dateVar Codedate5623;
    if isnull({Codedate5623}) then
    Codedate5623:=date(0,0,0)
    else
    Codedate5623:=date({Codedate5623});
    Hope this will works for you,
    Cheers,
    Salah.

  • MM03 equivalent DS for BW

    Hi, what is the equivalent DS in LBWE to capture MM03 data for sales org 2.  How do we make a report in BW for this requirement.  I need the DS for this.
    Thanks,
    Radha

    Hi,
    You can try to use datasource 0MAT_SALES_ATTR...
    If you would like to create queries based on characteristic values you should first create it as InfoProvider (in RSA1 go to InfoProvider and from menu choose something like "Create characteristic as...").

  • Not able to enable SSH user equivalency for RAC on RHEL 4

    Hi All,
    I am trying to install oracle RAC 11g on RHEL4 (on VMware), I am using below document for reference.
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR1RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVMware.php
    Every thing went fine till "SSH user equivalency", but I am not able to SSH and SCP between servers without entering passwords.
    I have tried removing .ssh folder & recreating pub file twice but it did not helped.
    am i missing something?
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Abhay.

    Configure SSH on each node in the cluster. Log in as the "oracle" user and perform the following tasks on each node.
    su - oracle
    mkdir ~/.ssh
    chmod 700 ~/.ssh
    /usr/bin/ssh-keygen -t rsa # Accept the default settings.
    The RSA public key is written to the ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub file and the private key to the ~/.ssh/id_rsa file.
    Log in as the "*oracle*" user on RAC1, generate an "authorized_keys" file on RAC1 and copy it to RAC2 using the following commands.
    su - oracle
    cd ~/.ssh
    cat id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
    scp authorized_keys rac2:/home/oracle/.ssh/
    Next, log in as the "oracle" user on RAC2 and perform the following commands.
    su - oracle
    cd ~/.ssh
    cat id_rsa.pub >> authorized_keys
    scp authorized_keys rac1:/home/oracle/.ssh/
    The "authorized_keys" file on both servers now contains the public keys generated on all RAC nodes.
    To enable SSH user equivalency on the cluster member nodes issue the following commands on each node.
    ssh rac1 date
    ssh rac2 date
    ssh rac1.localdomain date
    ssh rac2.localdomain date
    exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent $SHELL
    /usr/bin/ssh-add
    You should now be able to SSH and SCP between servers without entering passwords.
    hope, this may helps you.
    enjoy.

  • What is equivalent ASCP report for Planned Order&Order Reschedule Report

    Hi ,
    You can explore the Planning Detail Report which you can run against your ascp plan. However there are few standard reports available in ascp. I suggest you can explore option of building custom report which will be best suited to your business needs (i.e. using Discoverer or if you are also implementing obiee you can build a custom report based on standard views or noitex views (- for ascp)

  • IPhone SDK - What is the equivalent of a combo box

    I have a screen where there are quite a few items which are of the multiple-choice type. In other platforms i use a combo box (pick lists) to do this.
    On the iPhone SDK the only thing that comes close is the UIPicketView which is ugly IMHO. it takes too much real estate and too heavy.
    Is this is the only control available now?
    Also does the UIPicker come with an associated control which will launch the picker? What i mean is on other platforms and on the web there is a text field with a button with a down arrow next to it. Clicking either on the text field or the down arrow drops the list down. Is there a similar control on the iPhone which when clicked launches the picker OR do i have to create a button or a custom view which will launch the picker?
    Thanks for reading this and for your feedback.

    I do not believe there is an equivalent of -D in the DB JVM, a possible solution is:
    Load a properties file into the DB using Loadjava, then open this file from your Java code using Properties.load(), then iterate the properties calling System.setProperty().

  • How to use the same mask, stencil, etc., for multiple layers? Photoshop equivalent of masked group?

    Hi I spent more than half an hour to search manual, forums, and Internet and still can't find the answer. Please help!
    For example, in a comp with 5 or more layers I want to use the same mask or stencil or what ever can hide areas of the layers 2,3, and 4 but layer 5 and any other eventual layers below should not be affected.

    Pre-compose the layers you want to mask and apply a track matte to the pre-comp using the mask. Think of pre-composing as an equivalent of creating a layer group.
    Use Set Matte effect on each of the layers you want to mask. This is easiest to do if you apply set matte once and then create an animation preset to apply to the other layers. Just get set matte to do what you want it to do on the first layer, Select Set matte in the ECW or in the Timeline, then go to Animation>Save animation preset. Then select all of the other layers you want to apply the set matte to and apply the preset.
    Put the mask at the bottom of the layers you want to mask and enable the preserve transparency switch, then nest this group in the composition with the other layers.
    Here's another tip. You could define a custom color for all of the layers you want to use the matt on, then use the custom color for a group selection. This may make things easier down the line.
