DB missing file, help

Hello,
It appears that our database is missing a file and are not sure how it happened as we cannot recall the events that took place prior to the error. The SEVERE log entries of the dbverify are pasted below. The database is fairly large (586GB on disk) and are interested in how to proceed.
Thanks,
Donnie (Infobionics)

Hello Donnie,
If there is a possibility that the file was explicitly deleted by your process or another process on that machine, then of course that's the culprit. If not, please save the entire environment and send me email -- mark.hayes at the obvious .com -- and I'll ask for further information that I'll need to diagnose the problem.
Thanks,

    Hi, Hugo,
In similar cases it helped to remove the GarageBand "Preferences" file from the User Library.
    Open the folder
your home folder > Library > Preferences
and move the file "com.apple.garageband.plist" to the Desktop.
Then try again to launch GarageBand.

"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing." Help!!
Hello everyone, I have looked throughout this forum but couldn’t find anything similar so I am posting this in the hope of someone helping me out.
I have encountered some problems with iTunes (most recent edition) after doing a Dell update which seems to have knocked something out with iTunes.
Whenever I hit the iTunes icon it refuses to run and iTunes displays the following message:-
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I don’t want to reinstall itunes from fresh as this will mean losing all the records and playlists that I have spent the last 3 years using.
I first want to try by getting my old one back by any means neccessary.
Like I said this problem first happened after a standard Dell update.
I do have the option of doing a restore with the Dell or using Windows Vista restore itself but I fear I do not have enough disk space.
On the Dell update I can restore to settings of a previous date which might bring iTunes back but when attempt to do
that I keep getting the following message,
"Not enough free disk space to back up"
Around this time I am given a lists of what will be backed up and this readsas follows:-
    Pics 2.87gb
    Music 71.72gb
    Videos 330.57mb
    Documents 219.11mb
    Email etc 203.64mb
How do I free up disk space to do the back up? An external hard drive?? If I baIs there anyway of getting a previous version of iTunes back?
My drive information is as follows:-
    C Drive: Very little room - red warning - 5.67gb of 138gb
    D Drive: 6.34gb of 9.99 free
Do I have too much music?
Ideally don't want to reinstall itunes as is a ball ache, and it has all the playlists etc so if there is
a way of restoring and getting back iTunes either via restoring system to the prior date when iTunes was ok.
C drive is really full now. How can I clean this up and make more room? Do I need to add memory? Are all the songs
causing the problem? What advise can you give me? Please help.
    Thanks!

    Nodders:
I've recently had exactly the same message as you, after iTunes updated to 10.1.1.4. First of all, I checked the *My Music* folder to make sure it was still there - it was. (I do have a back up of that folder anyway!)
I then chose the re-install iTunes option and a pop-up box asked if I wanted to uninstall iTunes or repair it. I (obviously) chose repair and I'm pretty sure what happened was that the install process simply re-installed a damaged (or missing) file. It far too quick to be a fresh install. My library was intact.
So my advice(for what it's worth) is take the re-install option and then repair option. I can't guarantee anything, but ...
By the way, after I experienced a recent hard drive failure, I decided to invest in a 1TB external drive to back up my iTunes library and personal files because it's a much easier way of backing up than my previous method. Luckily, I only lost a small recent part of my library, but it taught me a lesson. Back up regurlarly, using a larger hard drive than you are using on your computer (which allows you to keep the most recent and +next most recent+ back-ups, and don't rely on Windows to do the backing up. Find a suitable backup piece of software. (My hard drive came with s/w built in.)

  • Can anyone help me...Why Can't I open a compound clips containing missing files?

I Have been using FCPX for only a short time and I have a few unfinished projects on the go. But after tidying up an reorganising my hard drives putting FCPx Projects and Events on an external drive. I find some of my projects with compound clips show this horrid warning icon for "missing files". I am want to relink  the missing clips but FCPX will not allow me to open the compound clips so I could see what are the missing ones... so, can anyone help find a way to re-link or recover those missing files.

File browser? You mean the compound clip is in the project but not in the event? What version of the software are you using?
Select the compound clip and use Clip>Reference New Parent Clip. Does that work? Try relinking the project files.

Could you have logged into another account?

To show users at login go to the Login Options of chanck the box that says show list of users.

  • Help with "Missing Files" message

My blog has been giving me an error message when I open it: "The following errors occurred when trying to open this document", "Missing file 'Pinstripewelcometile-15.jpg". It's one of the background pinstripe graphics for the "formal" theme that has an "x" and a question mark - it's used on all the entry pages. (http://web.me.com/mikejdunlap/Site/BLOG/Entries/2010/4/27ChocablockCookies.html) I've added new pages and republished, but the "number" of the missing graphic keeps changing every time I open iWeb: "welcomepinstripe15.jpg" etc - I think it started at "_9.jpg". I can't "replace" the file or add them again to my page - since it's a template graphic, rather than my own that I can choose in the media browser. How do I get iWeb to put this background image back in the entry pages? Thanks in advance for any help!

UPDATE: I restarted my computer and went through the exact same process outlined above and now it looks like it resolved itself; the error message no longer appears after I turn sync back on. I believe everything is working correctly now. Basically, it looks like the solution is to completely reboot your computer.

  • Help with missing files in Elements 3

I am not a computer wizard an dI am trying to catalogue my digital photos. I have almost 2,000 photos in Photoshop elements. All the photos are in the browser and I have created folders for each holiday, wedding, graduation etc. and copied photos into them. Suddenly a lot of the photos have a red rectangle on the bottom of them with a jagged line running diagonally across them which I have now learned means that there is a missing file. I have tried to reconnect the missing file following the help program but nothing happens except the 'torch' searching for the file. I can't do anything with these photos, I can't edit them or print them of copy them to a flash drive as back up. All these photos are precious and I can still see the image in teh browser. Have I lost them?

OK I consider myself severely reprimanded!
Sorry to appear dim but all I have ever done is:
    1 open photoshop elements
    2. take the card out of my camera
    3. put it into my computer.
    4. click 'get photos'
    5.save photos to my browser
    6. create new folders as previously described.
Photoshop Elements toolbar has the camera to 'get photos' so that's what I did, I didn't put them anywhere else first and then copy them into there.
The photos in my browser and the copies in my folders all have the 'missing file' icon so I can't drag the folder one back into the browser it just keeps saying 'missing file'. Plus some photos I haven't copied to folders also show the same icon. Can I say goodbye to my photos or are they there somewhere but I just can't find them? I haven't deleted anything.

  • Lightroom catalog backup find missing file location- please help!

    Hi,
Before I start, if anyone can answer this question I would be so grateful. I would cry!
    Ok, so let me start.
Recently I cleared my whole entire mac and backed up everything on a hard drive. when I reinstalled lightroom on my clean mac, I also imported the catalog that I backed up.  It all worked fine, and this post isn't about a lost catalog, or accidentally deleted photos.
So, what is hapenning is. When I imported my catalog I got an error message, for all the photos and folders. this:
So I found re-finding the folder, or finding the "missing file location" (which is so annoying because I wished Lightroom just backed up the pictures along with the catalog). But when I found the folder, only some photos showed up and some still displayed the exclamation mark.
Now I do have all the photos with the exclamation marks in folders on my backup hard drive, BUT they are all unedited raw versions. I honestly cannot go back and edit 2000 photos, especially after me having to clean all of the photos when my camera had over 30 spots of sensor dust on the photos. So those backup photos are what lightroom backed up, but I want to know how I can recover the photos in the lightroom catalog with the edits APPLIED.
May I PLEASEE get help on this. I am SO STUCK and do not want to mess up ANYTHING at all!
I would appreciate so much for ANY help! PLEASE!
    Kind regards,
    Josh

Please post on the Lightroom Forum.

  • My iTunes says I'm missing files...Help?

I have a grey circle next to most of my songs in my library. I try to drag it to my iPhone because I want to transfer my Ipod music to my phone and it says "file cannot be found" "missing files" I have never deletedanything on my computersince I got it not very long ago, it is a lenovo windows 7. I need help figuring this out. Help me!

    Brandon,
No model of iPod Classic has received a firmware update in some time.  It is likely that the 1.5 version your iPod is running is the latest version.
Are you confusing your Classic with an iPod Touch?

  • Help with missing files within lightroom

I need help locating the missing files within lightroom. When I click on the question mark to locate the files, it opens up a window and I click locate, and then the files are no longer there. This happens even on files that I have not moved out of lightroom. How can I make all of my files appear as they used to? Thanks so much!

You have to find the photos on your hard disk, somewhere. At this point, Lightroom can't help you because it doesn't know where the photos are. If they haven't been renamed, you can have your operating system search all of your hard disk(s) for a specific photo name. Then, you can reconnect entire folders (or folder hierarchies) via

  • Help! Can I recover missing files?

Hi - I just set out to back-up some project files by dragging a folder containing them from my desktop to the icon for a blank CD-R. I had second thoughts, so (without burning the CD) I dragged the folder out of the CD-R and back to the desktop. There is now only an "alias" of the original folder on the desktop. I cannot find the original folder or the files contained within it.
Is there a disk utility program/function (either Apple or 3rd party) that can help me find these missing files? Thanks.

    hi dinaleo,
barry's suggestion for locating them was to do a 'spotlight' search, which is in the top right corner of the screen, and looks like a magnifiying glass on a blue circle. if you click on this and type in anything from the title of documents/folders to words in them to extensions (e.g. .doc, .mp3, .psd, .pdf), to the date it was created, or basically anything else, spotlight will give you a list of files or folders containing these. the more you type the more specific the search it will be with less results to look through.
note: the 'show all' button gives you a better viewing window.
and fyi: when you drag contents onto a disc(cd-r, dvd-r, etc.) icon, you don't actually move the files. you just create an alias, and then when you burn they are 'copied'. but like barry said, unless you move something to the trash, it is not taken from the system.
and if you had moved it to the trash that would be the first place to look.
barry, i hope i'm not butting in here

  • Please help with "Missing File" on iMovie 10.0.2!

After importing clips from my GoPro to iMovie 10.0.2, the clips along with others in the same events are not available. The preview screen and thumbnail both say, "Missing File." Many of the clips that are now "missing" were uploaded and edited months ago

Beat markers are not included in iMovie 10. Another nice feature that has gone missing in this upgrade.
