DB13 Logs

Hello there,
Well, I'm having some errors in the DB13 transaction's logs... this is one of them:

Please, if anybody knows what the solution is...
I appreciate it.

hi,
DBA Planning Calendar (SAP DB)
The DBA Planning Calendar is used to automate database administration. This includes implementing, executing, and checking actions.
You can use the DBA Planning Calendar for almost all regular database administration actions.
The database actions desired are automatically executed at the time you specify. Make sure that the resources required are available before the time of execution. You can carry out periodic scheduling (in weeks). This reduces the amount of planning required for recurring actions.
Prerequisite
You can only use the DBA Planning Calendar to start actions if the R/3 System is active and available.
If you want to execute an action that requires the R/3 System to be inactive (for example, recovering the database system), use the database manager.
You are assigned the SAP DB database administrator role.
Further prerequisites
Procedure
In the SAP_BC_DB_ADMIN_SAPDB role choose Database operation ® DBA Planning Calendar (transaction DB13 ). The SAP DB: System Monitoring Analysis Screen appears.
Prepare a suitable plan for scheduling the following database activities:
Data backups, log backups, statistics updates, consistency checks
See also: Scheduling Concept
Schedule data backups.
For information about how to do this, see Adding an Action
You can use a Pre-Defined Action Pattern for backing up the data. If you choose a pre-defined action pattern, the R/3 System enters the required activities into the DBA Planning Calendar. The R/3 System also schedules the background jobs that carry out the activities.
Activate automatic log backup
For information about how to activate Automatic Log Backup, see Adding an Action.
Schedule table statistic updates.
For information about how to schedule UPDATE STATISTICS sessions, see Adding an Action (see also: CCMS Optimizer).
Schedule a consistency check.
For information about how to do this, see Adding an Action.
Edit the schedule to make any required changes to activities or start times.
Adding an Action
Changing or Deleting an Action
Evaluate the DBA Planning Calendar
Check the calendar daily to be sure that scheduled activities have been executed correctly.
Here is a suggested cycle of activities for using the Calendar:
Start the DBA Planning Calendar and check that the actions scheduled for the previous day were executed successfully.
Action Results
To go to the backup log display in the backup monitor from the DBA Planning Calendar, choose Environment ® Action logs. Using the Recovery report in the DBA action log display, you can determine if the existing backups are complete enough to recover the database system in case of an error.
Display logs in the DBA Action Log display.
Make sure that the data media for the next scheduled backup are installed and ready to go.
To determine which data media are required for the next backup, choose Volumes in the DBA Planning Calendar.
If any action did not run successfully, analyze the problem and repeat the action if necessary.
Troubleshooting
i hope this is healpfull to you.
regards,
reddy

    We are unable to see the DB13 logs in our SAP system. The same is happening while trying to look into the ST04 logs for Database Message Logs. In both the cases we find the same kind of log:

    SAP is running on Varitas cluster on two different nodes. One node is having SAP services and the another one Oracle services on it. Since the last week when we shifted the Oracle services from one node to another for monthly maintenace work, we are facing this problem.
    Our system details are:
    SAP 46C (kernel 46D_EXT) 32 bit
    SuSe Linux 2.6.5-7 64 bit
    Oracle 9.2.0.6.0
    Can someone please help me on it.

  • Db13 after system copy and oracle upgrade.

    Dear support,
    I have 40B system with Oracle 8.1.7.4 with SID as PRD. Now i have copied the same to TST system and i forgot to perform ops$ mechanism setup in TST system as part of post database refresh.
    Now i have upgraded database to oracle 9.2.0.5 and since DB13 jobs are not getting executed i have done following settings,
    New SID is TST.....
    create user "OPS$TSTADM" identified by TST;
    grant connect, resource, dba to "OPS$TSTADM";
    CONNECT "OPS$TSTADM"
    select * from dba_users where username like 'OPS%' ;
    alter user "OPS$TSTADM" temporary tablespace PSAPTEMP ;
    create table sapuser as select * from "OPS$prdADM".sapuser ;
    select * from dba_tab_privs where table_name = 'SAPUSER' ;
    create user "OPS$SAPSERVICETST" identified externally ;
    grant select, insert, update on sapuser to "OPS$SAPSERVICETST" ;
    create synonym "OPS$SAPSERVICETST".sapuser for "OPS$TSTADM".sapuser ;
    grant sapdba to "OPS$TSTADM" ;
    grant connect, resource, sapdba to  "OPS$SAPSERVICETST";
    alter user "OPS$TSTADM" identified externally ;
    revoke dba from "OPS$TSTADM" ;
    select * from "OPS$TSTADM".sapuser ;
    still i am getting below error in DB13 , should i use BRtools instead of SAPDBA
    please let me know
    error in db13 logs are as below

    Hi,
    Can you please post detail DB13 log ?
    Backup status Error : 0005 Error during processing
    Have you done any change in init<SID>.sap or in tape device connections ?
    Check your device configuration (tape) in init<SID>.sap.
    Also check if your tape device is working properly..
    Regards.

    how should i take backup of redo logs,we are using 4.6C version?
    -saurabh

    "BR157E Value 'QAS_TUE2_00' for option '-v' longerthan 10 characters"
    This is the pertinent bit.  Your naming convention for your media does not comply with the limitations ..... i.e, change your tape name to be 10 or less characters.

  • Problem with logs in DB13

    Hello!
    I have problems with clearing logs via transaction DB13.
    When I start this operation for the first time after starting SAP system this job is finished successfully.
    But then I have error in this job:
    Job started
    Step 001 started (program RSDBAJOB, variant &0000000000033, user ID SAP*)
    Format "X_PAPER" not defined for printer "$LOCL"

    SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE failed for BRCONNECT - Reason: x_error

    And i have to restart the SAP for using DB13.
    Why it's happening?
    P.s. Yes, i changed SAPSR3 passwords via brtools and brconnect.
    Thank you for answering.

    Hello Janos,
    I checked SAPDBHOST parameter in DEFAULT.PFL:
    SAPDBHOST = SAP-TSC
    BRCONNECT is located in the directory with appropriate user rights.
    Also I checked developer traces:dev_rd

  • ALLOnl+LOG Backup via DB13 failed

    Hi!
    I have planned each week a ALL Online Backup with LOG.
    When the action has been performed the backup failed and I get the following error:
    BR0301W SQL error -1031 at location saplikey_read-1, SQL statement:
    'OPEN curs_122 CURSOR FOR'
    'SELECT SELECT LIKEY, VALUE FROM SAP_SAPLIKEY ORDER BY LIKEY'
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    BR1301W Error message from likeywlib: likey_init: likeyche_fill_buffer: couldn't get the list of all records from the persistence.
    BR1302W Initialization of license key library likeywlib failed, return code 1
    BR1304W Checking SAP license failed at location BrLicCheck-104
    BR0602W No valid SAP license found - please contact SAP
    I checked via tcode SLICENSE and detected that a valid SAP license exist.
    Question:
    How can I solve this problem?
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Holger

    Hello Holger,
    before you can perform a backup the BR*Tools are checking the valid licenses. The PUBLIC synonym SAP_SAPLIKEY is used for that.
    Your user that is performing this action is not allowed to query the PUBLIC synonym (and the corresponding base table). This can have different reasons (wrong synonym, sapconn or sapdba role script was not executed, etc.).
    Normally the BR*Tools are run under <SID>adm, if you schedule the backup via DB13. So please check all these stuff (#1028220, #834917, #480266).
    I also have investigated a topic like that with another user in the forum... please also check this thread:

  • Behaviuor in reading logs from DB13 - redo log backup for DB

      Hi all,
    I have a question ,
    We have scheduled redo log backup using HP DP Tool.
    When I am reading a backup log from DB13 , I am facing the weird behavior.
    copy, delete, save
    0000
    aeomzyok.cds
    copy, delete, save
    0001
    aeomzyoh.cds
    Where ever the RC is 000 I am able to read the log files available at OS level . But not able to read the log for other RC.
    Please help me to understand this
    Thanks,
    Gnana

    Hi Gnana.
    Use the latest BR*Tools as there were problems with permission issues while creating logfiles. In the latest BR*Tools version, the different logfiles are created with predefined permission levels that suits to SAP needs.
    Also it worth to check if the BR*Tools executables hav the correct ownership.
    113747 Owners and authorizations for BR*Tools

  • DB13: Execute Redo log backup of remote Oracle 11g database fails

    Dear Experts,
    First of all I have to state I am not very experienced in administrating (Oracle) databases, but I would like to ask you all the following:
    We run two SAP Systems with each their own database on the same host:
    1. SAP SRM ABAP system on Oracle 11g
    2. SAP NetWeaver WebAS Java (Portal) on Oracle 11g
    We would like to schedule backups of the Java database in transaction code DB13 on the SRM ABAP system.
    Actions already taken:
    - We have maintained the proper database connection to the Java database and have set file system permissions correctly (according SAP Note 102570). Connection in transaction DB02 is fine and stats are showing for both databases.
    - We have maintained enviroment settings for <SID>_ORACLE_HOME and <SID>_SAPDATA_HOME and for the shell (csh).
    - Destination SAPXPG_DBDEST_<host> is maintained in SM59.
    When we schedule a Redo log backup of Java System in DB13 and execute immediately, we receive the following error:
    Process died due to signal 11
    SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE mislukt voor BRARCHIVE - oorzaak: unknown
    Any tips?
    Thanks in advance & Best regards,
    Jan Laros

    Hi Eduardo,
    Thank you for your reply.. Today I am at another customer, so I can not check it. But is seems to me that the BRTOOLS are up-to-date as we installed the system fresh and imported the Support Package and kernel updates right afterwards.
    I will check which BRTOOLS are used tonight, anyway.
    Best regards,
    Jan

  • Backup Not Starting for 'Whole database offline + redo log backup' @ DB13

    Hi Experts,
    I am not able to perform 'Whole database offline + redo log backup' by DB13.
    I have recently configured my 'init<SID>.sap'  to take 'Whole database online + redo log backup' and its working perfectly fine.
    I tried taking test backup for  'Whole database offline + redo log backup'  but it didn't even  started.
    Thus I created another profile with name init<SID>back.sap  and changed the Parameter
    from 'backup_type = online'  to 'backup_type = offline' and also tried by 'backup_type = offline_force'
    rest all parameters being same as the profile  init<SID>.sap
    Kindly Suggest as I need to take set the backup Strategy as  Mon-Fri  -> 'Whole database offline + redo log backup'  and Sat ->  'Whole database offline + redo log backup'
    One more Query : While taking the redo log backup by DB13 why is it that some times it only saves the Files and some time it
    saves and delete the files from the '/oracle/<SID>/oraarch'  location. Please throw some light over this matter also.
    Thanks,
    Jitesh

    Hi Mr Bhavik,
    Thanks for your reply..  Here are the details you have asked for.
    1.My SAP BASIS Patch Level  is :  10. ( We shall be updating it by the end of this Year)
    2. Br*tools version is :
    BRTOOLS   7.00 (11)
    kernel release    700
    patch level   11
    3. I don't have any file with name alert<dbsid>.log file (located at /oracle/<SID>/saptrace/background/) but i do have alert_<SID>.log
    I execute the command more -p G alert_JMD.log
    after my  'Whole database offline + redo log backup' again failed at DB13 but I was not able to see any specific complains while executing the above action.
    I got the Error Detailed Log in DB13 as :
    Detail log:                    beeneedv.aft
    BR0051I BRBACKUP 7.00 (20)
