DBI re-create reports via dbi designer
I am trying to re-create the "revenue by cost center" report in DBI designer. This report is seeded from oracle, but I am re-creating so that I can know how to create custom report. I followed all the cookbooks, yet it does not re-create in the same way. Does anyone know I can get to re-create exactly. (Please proved docs, website, etc.)

Hi John,
Unfortunately ADF does not provide support for reports. You can use though BI Publisher, Oracle reports or Jasper Reports.
I have demoed this (using BI Publisher) during an Oracle Developers Day/Workshop that I have conducted some time ago. I have even created a post (http://antonis-antoniou.blogspot.com/2010/11/integrating-web-services-into-your-adf_23.html) on my blog with step-by-step instructions and the actual source code.

Creating Report via PL/SQL

We have an application using HTML DB from which the we need to create reports for which the standard CSV will not work. The report can be created via PL/SQL except that the report needs to be created on the users workstation or a public location and not the server. Since UTL_FILE writes to the server, I am looking for help from the HTML DB and PL/SQL experts on packages/tools that can be used to output reports to local directories.

not sure of your exact requirements, but consider using utl_file or Oracle Reports to generate your report on the server and then providing your users a "download report" link that lets them pull the file down locally. we talked about using Reports for this at...

How to Use or Create XSD files in Crystal Reports XI R2 designer

I have a crystal reports application which was developed using .Net crystal report designer, where XSD is used .
now we have to develop the same application using Crystal Reports XI R2 designer , here i could not find any option for creating or using XSD files , can you give any suggestions on that

We can use the existing XSD which are present in .Net
But with current versions of crystal we doesn't have the feature to create XSD files at crystal designer level.
So, it is suggested to use the XSD files which are present in .Net and can also create new XSD files.

The best thing to do is to find a report among the reports that are supplied with Designer that contains most of the information that you want in your new report. Then make a copy of it, and use the Oracle Reports Developer to adapt it for what you need. This will give you a good example of a working report.
On the other hand, I myself am not very comfortable with Oracle Reports, so I don't do it that way. I prefer to write reports as PL/SQL Server pages and run them on the web. To make it easier, I wrote what I call a "cursor package" - a PL/SQL package containing pre-defined queries against the CI_ views in the repository. I don't currently have this available for download, but I will try to remember to add it to my web site.
Oracle has fully documented the CI_ views that make up the repository model - find the docs at: http://download-east.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/designer/doc_library/6i_release42/CDOC72/model/el_defs/outer_frame2_de.htm.

Can we launch Crystal Report via Browser?

I have created a Balance Sheet report (T-Style) with the help of BOBJ-Crystal Reorts.
But I wanna to consume this report via Browser, neither email with PDF/Excel attached, nor Crystal Report 2008 designer.
Is there any solution/tool to make this happen?
How can I implement it?

You are able to view Crystal Reports via a browser in a few ways.
1. Report is published to Enterprise and you use Infoview to browse to the report and view.
2. Report is published to Enterprise and you use a custom application written in .NET/JAVA to view the report, loading it from your enterprise server.
3. Report is stored on disk and you use a custom application written in .NET/JAVA to view the report.

The documentation for the SDK's can be found in the Developer Library, and sample code can be found under the Sample Code.

first its all based on the design of the database, universe and the report.
at the universe Level, you have to check your Contexts very well to get the optimal performance of the universe and also your joins, keep your joins with key fields, will give you the best performance.
at the report level, try to make the reports dynamic as much as you can, (Parameters) and so on.
and when you create a paremeter try to get it match with the key fields in the database.

Only i shaw those parameters which i used in my stored procedure, the parameter which i create dynamic using stored procedure
is not shown to me when i referesh the report for viewing the results.
I have used the same procedure which i mention below but can not seen the last screen which is shown in this .

Dynamic Parameters in Action
My question is that whether dynamic parameter is working with storedprocedure or not.
When i added one table and try to fetch records using dyanmic prameters. after that i am not be able to find the dynamic parameter option when i referesh my report.
One more thing when i try the static parameter for my report, the option i see when i referesh the screen.

I have tested the issue step by step by following you description, while the first issue works well in my local environment. Based on my research, this can be caused by the lookup expression or it indeed return Male value based on the logic. If you use the
expression below, it will indeed only return the Male record. So please try to double-check the record in the two datasets and the expression in your environment:
=lookup(first(Fields!ProgramID.Value,"DataSet1"),Fields!ProgramID.Value,Fields!Gender.Value,"DataSet2")
As to the second issue, please try to use the following expression:
=Count(Lookup(fields!ProgramID.value,fields!ProgramID.value,fields!Gender.value,"DataSet2"))
Besides, if this issue still exist, in order to trouble shoot this issue more efficiently, could you please post both the .rdl file with all the size properties to us by the following E-mail address? It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

ou don't need a list of variables to use them. Simply go to View -> System Information so whenever you hover around a field with the cursor, in the left bottom corner of the screen you will see the details of that screen along with the variable number if it is a variable.
So you will see something like:
[Form=139 Item=29 Pane=0 Variable=91]
-> in this case the variable number is 91 - use it in Print Layout Designer.
So you can just use the variable specified in these details. When creating the print layout, just go back to your form, stand on a field with your mouse and you will see what variable to use.

Report with FO-Designer

Hi!
I am creating a PDF report using FO-Designer.
My Query is this:
select * from tbl_employees where empno=:P2_Search;
My problem is I want to use an APEX Item(Number Field which is the :P2_Search ) to filter my report then download the XML and XSD file to FO Designer. Then I will create a layout and generate an .FO file to be uploaded in APEX.
I have a row here:
empno empname Dept
4 John Sales
My query return a correct row when I execute it in SQL Command. But it the source query, the result is no data found.
When I type 4 in the number field in APEX then click the print in which I already uploaded the .fo file, it returns only the constant field in the report.
I guess my query did not reflect on the layout.
Can anyone please give me an idea how to do this.

Run XML Publisher Report via URL (like Oracle Reports)

Is it possible to run xml-publisher report via URL?
In Oracle Reports works this fine:

I was waiting to get home before Tim replied... He got the better of me this time :-)
You say you want to let your users run reports using XMLP just by clicking on an URL same way you do with reports and without having to login. If I got the question right and assuming that:
1.Your company is not overly concerned on who runs what reports
2.Who sees what data
3.Your XMLP installation is on your intranet and firewalled from the outside
What you can do is:
On the main page of your XMLP Enterprise installation you should see a folder called "Guest". Any report you create under this folder is run as user "guest" which means you don't have to authenticate yourself as you would normally do.
I have tested this on my home server and this is what I've done:
1.Logged in as admin or any other user you've created with admin privileges created a report under the "Guest" folder.
2.Copied the URL, on my server it is "http://samba.private.net:15101/xmlpserver/Guest/People/People.xdo"
4.Logged off as admin and pasted the URL to a new browser window
5.Hit return and Voila, my report runs without the need to login to XMLP.

Error while sending a report via alert

I have created an alert to send a message which includes a report link. The alert worked fine, i did receive the report via email.But then once i started creating new alerts , i started getting errors in alert launching.I checked up with the services and found out that Event engine shows up an error which is
EventEngine:Clause inconsistency between EventEngine and Satellites
Start Unloading rules.
Also i have got troubles with the user generated already and which was working well all these while. Now the error i see in Login management of Adminstrator is
Login information for "NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE". This login is not currently known to be a valid login.
I would be really thankful if someone could help me with this.

You get the above error message whenever you configure IIS to allow anonymous authentication for the web directory OracleBAM, using the NETWORK SERVICE profile for anonymous logins. You'll need to disable anonymous login for the BAM web directory.

You have to create a plan to connect to the external message source, get the message and parse , and finally put it in the ADC data object (user created object). After this step, all your incoming messages will be in ADC data object. Only after getting the message into ADC object, you can use this object - you can create reports using this object.

The best practice for creating reports and dashboard

Hello guys
I am trying to put together a list of best practice on how to create reports and dashboards using OBIEE presentation service. I know a lot of those dos and donts are just corporate words that don't apply consistantly in real world environment, but still I'd like to know if Oracle has any officially defined best practice or not.
the only best practice I can think of when it comes to building reports and dashboards is:
Each subject area should contain only one star schema that holds data for a specific business information
Is there anything else?
