DCOM permission configuration on 2012 R2 core

Hi.
Our DC's are Windows 2012 R2 CORE servers. We need to change DCOM permissions on servers. (grant to one AD group access and launch permissions)
Launching dcomcnfg.exe on GUI server and connecting to DC (CORE) doesnt work. It needs "COM+ Network Access" feature, part of Application Server Role> requires GUI.
How can it be accomplished?

Hi Andres,
On server core you can use the dcomperm.exe which included the SDK to programmatically set the values,
You can download Windows SDK version for Windows 8.1

  • Configuring Volume Shadow Copies in Windows Server 2012 R2 Core

    Hello,
I have a File Server under Windows Server 2012 R2 Core under a Lab Environment, I am trying to configure the Volume Shadow Copy on it, I tried to remote to its Disk Management via Computer Management but couldn't find the configuration for it.
    Any Ideas?
    For God, and Country.

    Hi Sheen Lim,
As far as I know we can use cmdlets to manage the volume shadow copy in server core but can not use the server manager remotely. You can refer the following third party article

  • Still cannot install the agent on Server 2012 R2 Core

    Hi
I'm using the latest build of the agent (that I could find - 2.0.8692).
This KB http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2997692/en-us says that 2.0.8689 and above should be supported on Windows Server 2012 R2 Core.
The installation works, but when I'm about to do the postsetup (Register Server Wizard) I get an unhandeld exception and cannot continue.
    The error reads:
Creating an instance of the COM Component with CLSID {DC1C5A9C-E88A-4DDE-A5A1-60F82A20AEF7} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80040111 ClassFactory cannot supply requested class (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040111 (CLASS_E_CLASSNOTAVAILABLE))

I am getting the same error, Hyper-V Server 2012R2

  • Enabling GUI on Hyper-V 2012 R2 Core

I have seen several articles about enabling Minimal Server Interface (GUI) on 2012 core.  Such as ...
    http://www.admin-magazine.com/Articles/Windows-Server-2012-Tricks
    Trick #6
None of these work for me.  Is this because I installed from a  2012 R2 Hyper-v ISO instead of a 2012 R2 Install disk and selected 'Core' install?
Also, is there a licensing difference between 2012 R2 Hyper-v and 2012 R2 Core install with Hyper-v and GUI enabled?
    Thanks.

  • Deploying Office 365 Pro Plus using System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1

    Hello,
I am trying to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus to my client machines (more than 100) via. System Center Configuration Manager 2012 SP1. It will use one administrator account for installation. But as per the licensing, we can install Office for up to 5 PCs/Macs
and 5 more Windows tablets/iPads with one Office 365 Pro Plus licenses. If this is the case, then I cannot install Office 365 Pro Plus with one admin account to my 100+ machines, as it will violate the licenses of O365 Pro Plus.
So, what is the alternative approach?
    Thanks
    Raj

    Hi,
    this is incorrect.
There is no licensing restriction/control for the *installation* account at all, the licensing is related to who is *using* Office365ProPlus *after* installation is performed. This control, is implemented by the Microsoft Account, or OrgID, used to sign-in/activate
    to Office365 when *using* Office365ProPlus.

  • HT5219 did thunderbolt display worked with mac pro 2012 12 core ??

i buy mac pro 2012 12 core with thunderbolt display so how i can maake it work with us ??

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you want to use a Thunderbolt Display with your 2012 MacBook Pro, you can do it without any problem because your MacBook Pro has got a Thunderbolt port.
If you need help to set up the Thunderbolt Display, see its user guide > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/thunderbolt_display_getting_started.pdf
Instead, if you have a Mac Pro (it looks like you have a Mac Pro because you say that it has got 12 cores), you can't use the Thunderbolt Display because the Mac Pro hasn't got Thunderbolt ports. Instead, you have to use the LED Cinema Display

  • Version of SQL Server Express for a Secondary Site in Configuration Manager 2012 R2

    Hi,
I want to install a secondary site in my Configuration Manager 2012 R2. I want to install the SQL Server Express in a diferente drive. To do so, I want to previous install the SQL Server Express.
Can I use the SQL Server 2014 Express?
    Thanks in advance...
    Dmsousa

Sorry, going to be blunt here, but this is why "best practices" are useless. If you don't know the "why" of the best practice and when to apply it, it will cause you to do things that simply aren't necessary (or even harmful) by
blindly trying to apply them. It is simply is not necessary for secondary sites for perf or any other reason. Also, if this is a VM, then your virtual disks will most likely be on the same physical disks which means you do *not* in any way gain any perf benefits
anyway (perf benefits come from have additional physical spindles -- logical separation is just that *logical*).
You have far bigger challenges ahead of you, push the easy button on this one, let ConfigMgr deploy SQL Express for you and move on.

There is an interesting blog about managing ConfigMgr 2012 Clients in a VDI environment.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2011/11/15/streamlined-client-management-and-vdi-with-configuration-manager-2012.aspx
But I didn't find any way or description in the blog on how to prepare the client in the base image used for VDI. Do we still have to make the client unique before shutting down the base image? Or will this be done automatically?
Are these new attributes (IsVirtual, IsMachineChangesPersistent ...) enabled by default?
    Thanks!
    Gr. Cédric.

No this is handled by ConfigMgr post SP1
Are these new attributes (IsVirtual, IsMachineChangesPersistent ...) enabled by default?
For XenDesktop  -no you will need to enable them in the client settings (not sure for other virtual
    solutions)
In the SCCM Console go to the Administration workspace; click Client Settings. Right click the Default Client Settings and choose Properties
Choose Hardware Inventory and click Set Classes.
Click the Add button and then click Connect.
Enter the computer name of a master image device that has the SCCM client installed.
Enter root\ccmvdi as the WMI namespace and click Connect.
    Select CCM_DesktopMachine. Click Ok.
    Cheers

  • Migrating from Marimba 8.1 to Configuration Manager 2012 R2

    Good morning all,
I have been tasked with architecting a migration from Marimba 8.1 to Configuration Manager 2012 R2 and I noticed that there is almost no material available in the web about this, can someone provide whatever insight information possible?
Thanks in advanced for your help on this matter

    Jeff,
I agree with you on some of your thoughts, I should've describe the situation better.... I am not trying to migrate anything from Marimba, I am architecting an entire ConfigMgr 2012 R2 infrastructure altogether, what I am trying to do is (because I have
to rationalize and normalize their DSL) see if I can salvage any applications and some level of their customization to convert them into ConfigMgr applications.... they have about 3000 apps and not all of them are in .msi format, Marimba uses a very strange
folder format for this.... trying to see if anyone out there has dealt with this before.

    hi,
you have to configure your server and then have to associate with the IS repository.
    what i've done were:
Create repository central, profiler and local use Data Service Repository Manager
Configure repository in BO Central Management Console, there are Central, Profiler and Local
Create Group for Repository Central and assign a User in Data service management Console
With Data Service Server manager i've created Job Server local and Job server Profiler
Use Data Service Designer i've add Central repository and Activate it.

  • Mac pro 2012 12 core 2,4 Ghz ou Mac pro 2013 8 cores 3,5 Ghz ?
