DDE Command

  • Fatal Error Acrobat failed to send a DDE command

Hello all.  I have a fillable form I developed using word 2010.  I am trying to convert it to a PDF form.  I open acrobat and select star from wizard from the Forms menu.  I browse to find the word document and open it.  I save the PDF document and everything looks good.  I get a progress bar that says "Please wait, reading Adobe PDF".  This is very slow progress and then I get the Fatal Error message "Acrobat Failed to send a DDE command".  I click ok and the progress bar continues still very slowly.  I get the same message again.  I click ok and the progress bar continues.  The progress bar gets to the end and just stays there.  Nothing happens.  I waited for an hour and then cancelled it. When clicked cancel, the PDF document opens with my form but without any fillable fields or drop down menus.  I tried to do it again a few times and I get the same error message.   I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 pro version 9.4.2.  Thank you in advance for your help.

AA 9 will not work for anything but the print function from WORD 2010. The only version of Acrobat that is compatible with OFFICE 2010 for PDF Maker is AA X. Thus, open WORD and print to the Adobe PDF printer. Then open the pdf in Acrobat. Go to FORMS>Add or Edit fields. Since you have no fields at present, Acrobat will ask if you would like to detect form fields. Answer yes and you will get a first cut at the form fields. Yes, you will likely have to add some more and change the ones that Acrobat estimates, but you are on your way.
The other two options you have is to go back to WORD 2007 or earlier or upgrade to AA X (or find someone with AA X and WORD 2010). These methods are pretty much your options with the software combination that you have.

Acrobat X Pro does not open and gives fatal error - "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command"
It either does the above or the application starts and is listed in the system processes but never physically opens on the desktop for viewing.

  • Acrobat X Std. Fails to Open, reporting, "Acrobat failed to send DDE command"

When I try to open Acrobat, whether opening it via a document or directly, it fails immediately, reporting an error, "Acrobat failed to send DDE command." I cannot even get into Acrobat's settings menus since the program fails entirely. I am operating on a newish Windows 7 PC which has been running this program successfully for a few months up until today. Help!

It would be my recommendation that you contact our technical support team.

  • DDE command FilePrintToEx oder FilePrintTo !!!

    Hallo,

So .prn is a generic extension for the output of a printer driver. do you know what format you are REALLY generating?
Also, is this operation taking place on a desktop or server machine? In an automated or manual type of operation?

  • DDE commands to process in background

    Hi
I am using Forms4.5 and trying to print a letter (with data populated from oracle) using DDE/Word2000 commands.
Is it possible to print the letter without displaying the Word document ?, and to avoid the Microsoft message while closing the document (do you want to save the document).
I tried to use OLE feature, but is not working with Word 2000 (not able to go to bookmark).
    thanks

To let office work in background Call DDE in mode 'minimized' -
    DDE.App_Begin('C:\excel\excel.exe C:\emp.xls', DDE.APP_MODE_MINIMIZED);
    to save the doc You can try use DDE.execute(ConvId,'[save()]',1000);
procedure. in excel it works fine.

  • Acrobat 9.5.2 Failed to send a DDE command

I have a user who is sporadically getting this error message using Acorbat 9.5.2 Standard. Some fixes that I've seen on here mention editing the DDEServername in the registry located at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application.
Unfortunately, I don't know if this is because the user is on Acrobat 9.5.2 or Windows XP Pro, but that key location does not exist on his machine.
Does anyone else have any other ideas to resolve this issue?

May be unrelated, I have a form filler program that was coded in the windows xp days, I open files within the program (it opens Adobe.exe and prepopulates a form) and then close the program, Adobe.exe remains running the the task manager, until I end process I cant open a pdf
I've ended up running a Acrobat.exe /n, until I find a fix, or learn LiveCycle.

  • Failed to send a DDE command

This error is very spratic. Our application uses Adobe to open/print Medication Guides for Pharmacists.
This seems to happen on Adobe V 9.4 and later (tried uninstalling 10.1.1 and installing older versions).
It doesn't appear to be a wide spread problem. The same document will error one day and work the next. Not sure why this would be.
We are running Windows Server 2003 SP2 as a Domain Server.
I am getting ready to send a replacement server with a fresh install of the operating system in hopes to resolve, and thought I would see if anyone had any ideas prior to swapping.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Which DDE commands does Firefox 4 support.

It seems to support WWW_GetWindowInfo and returns the URL
but I would like to retrieve the text or htm of the entire page, perhaps to the clipboard for data mining.

Symantec have made an update for their add-ons to work in Firefox 4, but they only listed them as compatible with Firefox 4.0, they need to update them to let them work in Firefox 4.0.1. • When I try opening Acrobat I get a fatal error which says "Failed to send a DDE command"

I need help with opening Acrobat (trial version) It won't open, I get the above message.  Any help please?

    Hi house in valle,
Try downloading the latest update for Acrobat from Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows and install and check if you are able to launch Acrobat.
If the problem persists, go to Control Panel> Programs> Select 'Acrobat' and click on 'Change'. Repair Acrobat installation.
The last resource would be uninstall the Adobe Acrobat XI, run Acrobat Cleaner (get it from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html), and reinstall it.

  • Reader DC: DDE open command

    Hello,
I am creating PDFs in a separate program, which uses a DDE command to automatically open the PDF in Adobe Reader once the PDF is created. This command is not successfully opening the PDF, although manually opening the PDF works fine. I know that similar problems occurred for Acrobat/Reader versions 10 and 11. These problems were fixed by changing the "server" for the DDE command from "acroview" to "acroview{A|R}{Major Version}" where A is used for acrobat, R for reader, and "Major Version" is "10" or "11". What is the syntax that should be used for version DC? I have tried "acroviewRDC" and "acroviewRdc" without success.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Setting the "major version" to 12 did not work, but setting it to "15" did work. Thus, the correct syntax for the server name for DDE commands is "acroviewR15" for reader DC or "acroviewA15" for acrobat DC.
    Thanks!
