Ddeleting the Second Row tag in XML output

Hi All,
When I run the following query:
select dbms_xmlgen.getxml('select wo.work_order_no,
cursor(select regacc.work_order_no, regacc.work_order_task_no, regacc.regulatory_account_no
from sa_work_orde_reg regacc
where regacc.work_order_no = wo.work_order_no) Reg_Test
from sa_work_order wo') xml
from dual;
I get the following output:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<ROWSET>
<ROW>
<WORK_ORDER_NO>1000170</WORK_ORDER_NO>
<REG_TEST>
<REG_TEST_ROW>
<WORK_ORDER_NO>1000170</WORK_ORDER_NO>
<WORK_ORDER_TASK_NO>01</WORK_ORDER_TASK_NO>
<REGULATORY_ACCOUNT_NO>100.2.1</REGULATORY_ACCOUNT_NO>
</REG_TEST_ROW>
</REG_TEST>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
Now what I need is to delete the second row tag <REG_TEST_ROW>. Is there some function or some other ways to handle this. I will be using this query in DBMS_XMLGEN.newcontext API inside my procedure.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,
Here are some options...
1) Using a scalar subquery instead of the CURSOR constructor (provided it's always meant to return a single row) :
SELECT dbms_xmlgen.getxml(
'SELECT wo.work_order_no,
        ( SELECT XMLForest( regacc.work_order_no,
                            regacc.work_order_task_no,
                            regacc.regulatory_account_no )
          FROM sa_work_orde_reg regacc
          WHERE regacc.work_order_no = wo.work_order_no ) reg_test
FROM sa_work_order wo'
) xml
FROM dual;2) Embedding an XSL transformation (yes, again!) to copy all nodes except REG_TEST_ROW :
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:template match="*[local-name()!='REG_TEST_ROW']">
<xsl:copy select=".">
  <xsl:apply-templates/>
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
<xsl:template match="*[local-name()='REG_TEST_ROW']">
<xsl:copy-of select="./*"/>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>3) Using a simple replace on the serialized output.

    After the first row is updated. The second row did not get updated at all.
    The error return was "Resultset is closed".
    What actually is wrong? How can I execute a sqlstatement inside a recordset? How to solve this problem?

    Did you turn on the "updatable" switch for the result
    set?
    public Statement createStatement(int resultSetType,
    int resultSetConcurrency) throws
    SQLException
    Parameters:
    resultSetType - a result set type; see
    ResultSet.TYPE_XXX
    resultSetConcurrency - a concurrency type; see
    ResultSet.CONCUR_XXX
    static int CONCUR_UPDATABLE
    JDBC 2.0 The concurrency mode for a ResultSet object
    that may be updated.Hi,
    do you refer to the following change of code:
    //create a statement object (original)
    Statement stmt = dbConn.createStatement();change to the following:
    //create a statement object (original)
    Statement stmt = dbConn.createStatement(resultSetType,
    resultSetConcurrency);when I use another statement object for executeupdate, what I got was the connection was used by another hstmt. Thus the second column was not updated at all.
    Why?

  • Displaying the selected rows in ALV Grid output

    Hi Experts,
    I am developing one interactive ALV Grid report where user can process the selected records/rows from the ALV Grid output.
    for displaying the ALV Grid, I have used the class CL_GUI_ALV_GRID class. I am working on ECC 6.0 system.
    when I select any records/rows from output and then press any Application Toolbar button, PAI and then PBO modules of the screen gets executed as per the normal flow.
    however After PBO, when same ALV output comes, all the selected/highlighted rows appear as unselected, that means I want to retain the ALV
    rows selection during the round trip.
    please advise.

    Welcome to our community, Kristi
    As for why we aren't able to add buttons to Question Slides,
    only the Captivate developers know the answer. Perhaps there is a
    technical issue involved.
    About the only thing I can think of would be to insert an
    image of the buttons in a disabled state. At least that may provide
    some consistency for you.

  • Not getting empty tags in XML output

    Hello,
    I am using DBMS_XMLQuery.getXML function and cusor function in my select statement to generate XML documents. If the column value is null, the XML document is not generating a empty tag. How do I generate empty tags?
    My query is :-
    SELECT
    MSG_NAME ,MSG_DATE, BATCH_ID,
    cursor (SELECT ACTION_CODE,PART_NUMBER,
    ITEM_DESCRIPTION,ITEM_STATUS
    UOM,CONVERSIONS,INSPECTION_FLG
    FROM ITEM_OUT ITEM
    WHERE ITEM.BATCH_ID= ECF.MSG_BATCH_ID
    ) as item_header
    FROM FILE_CONTROL ECF
    null

    You need to set the option to use a null indicator. By default, null values omit their elements. With the null indicator, they are included as empty elements with a NULL="Y" attribute flag.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <?Label MEXICO|PROFILE|2033169|SUCCESS?>

    Plz guid me...
    Thanks

    You can refer to the code provided in this thread XML Tag Issue: Need extra Line with Xml RooTag and Convert the IDOC XML file into single string? . Java mapping would do these steps -
    a) Convert the incoming xml into string.
    b) Modify it with some string function as per requirement.
    c) Convert the string back to xml.
    For more understanding about Java mapping, go through links provided in the thread java mapping .

  • JSP, BC4J, Row Tag: what is the best way to delete multiple rows?

    Hi all.
    I have a JSP Edit page with three datasources on it. The tables these VO's represent (A, B and C) have a Parent --> Child (1:1 between A and B) relationship and then another Parent --> Child (1:n between B and C) relationship. So the user retrieves one row for Table A, 1 matching row for table B and then between 0 and 6 matching rows for Table C (there cannot be more than 6 because the user can only add these rows from a finite list).
    In my EditSubmit page, I want to perform a RowTag Update action on Tables A and B and they both work no problem. They can't update any rows from Table C but they can add or delete from the list of 0 - 6 rows (the UI is actually a list of 6 checkboxes that they can turn on or off). I figure that the easiest way to handle this rather than keep a list of original values and compare them is simply to delete all existing rows and then add any that the user checked.
    This is causing a problem. I have added a hidden field to the form that picks up the RowKey for each existing row. I can get these RowKeys in the Submit page but cannot find a way of using them with the Delete Row Tag.
    In the end, the only way I could get it to work was the following code (which I stole from the RowTag.java file in jbohtmlsrc.zip):
    if (stakeMailRowKeys != null) {
    for (int counter = 0; counter < stakeMailRowKeys.length; counter++) {
    Key stakeMailKey = new Key(stakeMailRowKeys[counter], stakeMailingRS.getViewObject().getKeyAttributeDefs());
    stakeMailRows = stakeMailingRS.findByKey(stakeMailKey,1);
    stakeMailingRow = stakeMailRows[0];
    // Tell the row to delete itself from the database
    stakeMailingRow.remove();Is there a simpler way to do this (I figure there probably is)? I have another problem with updating the constrained View Objects but I will leave that out of this thread for now.
    TIA,
    Simon

    I don't know if this will help you, but this is what I do:
    I separate the logic into a delete.jsp page. If you can create a View Object that will represent the rows you want to delete and append a where clause to select only the rows you want to delete. Then loop through the view deleting each row. Lets just say you have department and employee tables. and you want to delete employees within a given department. Create a view object that brings back all employees.
    In your delete.jsp find out the department no. by request.getParameter("dept_id");
    then append this to the where clause of your view Object and execute the query:
    vo.setWhereClause(request.getParameter("dept_id");
    vo.executeQuery;
    now loop through and remove the rows:
    while(vo.next){
    vo.getCurrentRow().remove();
    and commit or post changes accordingly.
    There are many ways of doing this action. The easiest way I have found is to create the ViewObjects based on what actions you want to take on them. Make bc4j work for you.

  • Get rows where the last row finish off

    Hi, i have two tables AND would LIKE TO get data BY combining both.
    here IS my data
    WITH hist AS
      SELECT To_Date('4/23/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias, 'PROC' dom FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('4/27/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias, 'LON' dom FROM dual UNION all
      SELECT To_Date('4/1/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 111 alias, 'SOC' dom FROM dual UNION all
      SELECT To_Date('4/10/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 111 alias, 'NAO' dom FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('3/23/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 222 alias, 'PSE' dom FROM dual
    final AS
      SELECT To_Date('2/26/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('4/22/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias FROM dual UNION all
      SELECT To_Date('4/26/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('4/30/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 999 alias FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('2/25/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 111 alias FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('2/26/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 222 alias FROM dual UNION ALL
      SELECT To_Date('4/22/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 222 alias FROM dual UNION all
      SELECT To_Date('4/26/2010','mm/dd/yyyy') dt, 222 alias FROM dual
    the output should be as follow(without the extra blank line of course)
    DT           ALIAS   DOM
    2/26/2010     999     PROC
    4/22/2010     999     PROC
    4/26/2010     999     LON
    4/30/2010     999     LON
    4/27/2010     999     LON
    4/23/2010     999     PROC
    2/25/2010     111     SOC
    4/1/2010     222     SOC
    4/10/2010     222     NAO
    2/26/2010     222     PSE
    4/22/2010     222     PSE
    4/26/2010     222     PSEso what i am doing here is as follow, take one row in hist table (4/23) and join with final table and give me all rows in final table
    where dt <= to the row in hist table and include the row from hist table.
    this logic will give me rows 2/26/2010,4/22/10 4/23/2010
    then the second row in hist table (4/27/2010) wiill get all rows
    in final table that is <= to the current row and pick up the rows starting from the row > than the last row where the 4/23/2010 finished off
    in this case the output will be 4/26/10, 4/27/2010(we need to include row from hist)
    since there is no row in hist that is greater than 4/30/2010, this date will still be display and dom column value should be taking from the max date in hist
    which is 4/27/2010. see output above
    this sound a little confusing to explain but look at output of what to expect as output. the other ids should follow the same logic
    can someone help write a query for this? thanks

    Hi,
    Devx wrote:
    Frank, thanks again, i ran the query in oracle 11g and oracle 9i. 11g runs ok but 9i doesnt. it looks like the ignore null option is not supported in 9i. That's right: IGNORE NULLS was new in Oracle 10. You should always mention your Oracle version whenever you ask a quiestion, especially if it's as old as Oracle 9.
    i will be running this query in 9i. is there any alternative to re-write this query without using last value since ignore null is not supported and the output is not as i expected when i take that keyword out.
    i really appreciate your help. please let me know how would i re-write the query. thanksOne work-around is to use LEAD or LAG instead of LAST_VALUE. This means you have to know exactly where (how many rows away) the most recent non-NULL value is, which in turn requires other analytuic funtions, such as ROW_NUMBER, and more sub-queries:

               )     AS dom
    FROM       got_next_dom
    ORDER BY  alias
    ,            dt
    ;You should be able to calculate bot LEAD and LAG in the same query, but there seems to be a bug that only calculates one of them correctly in this case. The sub-query got_next_dom gets around that, by doing the LEAD in a separate sub-query.

  • Generate XML output using DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype and not from rdf

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to display output from a particular table in XL format. Out of all the known possible options, I am planning to use the XML publisher to generate XL output.
    For the data source, instead of using the conventional way of creating XML data using rdf,I am planning to use DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype pl/sql procedure to generate the XML output. And from the output, call the template to generate the required Excel output.
    Now, I am using the following code to generate XML output but am not sure how to proceed from here. I need to first print the XML data in the FND Output file after which I was planning to call the 'XML Report Publisher' (XDOREPPB) program and use the current request id to get the excel output but I am not able to find the way to print the XML data in the output file as:
    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type); - is throwing an error as l_xml_type is an XML data output.
    PROCEDURE xml_main (
    errbuf OUT VARCHAR2
    ,retcode OUT VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_from IN VARCHAR2
    ,p_project_to IN VARCHAR2
    AS
    l_xml_type XMLTYPE;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype
    ('SELECT fnd_global.conc_request_id
    ,TO_CHAR (segment1)
    ,to_char(start_date,''MM/DD/RRRR'')
    ,to_char(xxmcc_project_details_pkg.current_profit_projection
    (project_id),''999,999,990.90'')
    ,to_char(xxmcc_project_details_pkg.cost_to_date (project_id),''999,999,990.90'')
    ,''1''
    FROM pa_projects_all
    WHERE segment1 BETWEEN NVL (p_project_from, segment1)
    AND NVL (p_project_to, segment1)')
    INTO l_xml_type
    FROM DUAL;
         fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type);
    END xml_main;
    Can anyone point me as to how to publish XML output using a PL/SQL procedure (DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype)
    Thanks.

    Pl see if the example included in this presentation helps http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/applications/Events/OOW-2006/EBS/S281401_Sridhar_Bogelli.pdf
    Also, you do not need to explicitly call XDOREPPB in later versions of XML Publisher. If you set up everything correctly (as described in the presentation above and the link below) the Output Post Processor is called automatically after the XML file is generated successfully.

  • How to Generate XML Output file

    Hi,
    I want to print sample output XML file.
    I got this link 362496.1
    An output file can be generated via the Preview functionality available under the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility. Navigation path :
    1. Login to the application as SYSADMIN
    2. Responsibility: XML Publisher Administrator
    3. Function: Templates
    4. Select a Template for which a Preview Data file has been uploaded in the past.
    5. Click on the Preview icon
    6. Save the PDF to the client PC
    7. Determine the version either by the above instructions OR by provide the PDF file to Global Customer Support.But in #4 I can not populate any values to search, even if I put all %.
    How can I get a valid search?
    Thanks a lot,

    Hi;
    AFAIK if you prepare template in XML publisher than you can take output as pdf, by the way you can take xml output too
    Please check user guide:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/xml-publisher/docs/XMLP5.6.1UserGuide.pdf

  • Select second row of a table

    i have this query to count people who are in different deployment
    SELECT Trade.Trade, Trade.Auth,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade) AS Held,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='Present') AS Present,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='KL') AS KL,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='HL') AS HL,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='SL') AS SL,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='TTT') AS TTT,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='COURSE') AS COURSE,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='UD') AS UD,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='LAW') AS LAW,
    (select count(tradeno) from Member where trade=Trade.Trade and Status='MAL') AS MAL
    FROM Trade ORDER BY id"
    the above query works for me fine. now there is a table named PL with field PL
    PL
    KM
    KT
    KM
    HG
    TG
    HG
    i want to make six different queries for each PL. add a clause in above query
    1. to select top 1 PL and also add where clause in the above query so that people employed in KM only gets counted and displayed
    2.  to select second row of  PL and also add where clause in the above query so that people employed in KT only
    gets counted and displayed
    as also for all other PL. please lelp me

    Sir
    The first query which i had given is correct and it works for me. Now i want to add one more
    clause that PL.PL and that PL should be dynamically selected and not manually added in query. The logic should be like this
    Above query + where PL.PL= second row of table PL that is the result required for me
    First problem is : I was not able to add the clause WHERE PL.PL=' '
    Second Problem is : If i had solved my first one the PL.PL must be automatically selected as
    i had given a sample query to select the second row from table PL.
    Then it is solved
