De activating / un registering cs2 from my mac

Hi all
Hope someone can help here. . .
My friend installed cs2 on my mac and im the second user for his cd.
He now wants me to delete it off my mac as he wants to use it himself and has asked me to unregister it.
I have dragged everything from applications relating to cs2 into the bin and emptied it but it seems i still need to deactivate it.
How do i do this as i have nothing on my mac relating to cs2 anymore?
Many thanks
Mitch

Mitch,
>My friend installed cs2 on my mac and im the second user for his cd.
As Jim is saying: that's illegal; a.k.a. piracy. Please understand that you cannot install software registered for one person on someone else's machine. The intent of Adobe's "two computer activation" is so that the
same user has the convenience of using his legally obtained and licensed software non-simultanously on his home/office/laptop computers without having to pay for a second license.
As your installation contravenes that use, and the purpose of support in these forums, no further assistance will be forthcoming.
However, once you're "legal", please feel free to return to discuss other Photoshop issues.

I'm not 100% sure a lecture about piracy and legal use is called for in this case, and here's why:
    I
    specifically
called Adobe Customer Support for something almost exactly like Mitch is describing. It's hard to say if it's truly, exactly the same situation because of the lack of details.
Story continued in the first reply...

    Continued from above...
    My situation:
I do work for my brother's real estate business. He lives almost 300 miles away from me. I use Illustrator quite a bit in these jobs, and am generally very happy with my version 8. I can do everything I really need to do for him.
My brother has bought and installed the one of the CS3 suites, which includes Illustrator CS3, of course. He mostly uses Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat. He very rarely uses Illustrator, because he doesn't really have the time to learn it, but he has it so he can do a few thingsmaybe once or twice a yearopen files I send him, poke around a bit, etc. Most often, when I send him my AI8 files he just places them in InDesign, and goes from there.
There are features in Illustrator CS3 that would occasionally be very helpful to me in the work that I do for him. But not really so often that I can justify buying it. Let's ignore for a minute that I could write it off as a business expense, because I'm a basket case when it comes to organizing stuff like that. :)
About 6 months ago, I called Adobe Customer Support, and told them with 100% honesty the working situation I have with my brother's business as I've just described. Then I asked them this:
My brother's business owns 5 desktop macs and 3 laptop macs. Since my brother very rarely uses AI CS3, and only has it installed on his one desktop system, and since I am the primary Illustrator user for his company, is it within the T.O.S. for him to send the install disk to me so that I can install AI CS3 on my system and be considered the LEGAL 2nd installation for his license?
Answer from Adobe Customer Support (after about 5 minutes, while he asked someone, or researched the legality):
    "Yes, you may do that."
I spent another 10 minutes talking with the C.S.R., asking the same question every possible way, confirming that it's legal, that it isn't in violation of the T.O.S. and E.U.L.A., and that it wouldn't put either of us in jeopardy for some mysterious de-authorization sometime in the future, or that it wouldn't jeopardize his ability to upgrade to newer versions of the Suite.
    I
    really
grilled the guy about these things, because I wanted to be completely above board about everything, and he continually reassured me that what I was asking about was COMPLETELY cool by Adobe.
So far as of the time of this post, I haven't reminded my brother to send me the installation disk in the mail; that should tell you that I really don't have a pressing need for the newer features in AI CS3. But if I did, all indications are that my installing it on my system as the 2nd activation on his license is legal.
Soooo...Whether there are any details that Mitch left outor is fudging onin the other thread, we can't know, unless he replies to this thread. And if he replies with more details, we can't
    truly
know whether he's telling the full truth.
But, I had to post about my experience just to show that we ought to be a little careful, we should know all the facts and we should assume nothing before we brand a visitor here as a pirate and therefor undeserving of help.

  • CS2 incompatible with mac OS 10.8

I migrated CS2 from a mac running 10.7 to a new mac running 10.8. I can't open the applications now, becasue an error message tells me that power pc applications are no longer supported. What do I need to do?

Do you have access to another Mac to see if the disk can be read by it?  If it can't then you're pretty sure it's the disk. If it can then there may be issues with your optical drive which might be cleared up by using a cleaning disk on it, one that uses dry brushes (no liquid).
If you have access to another Mac and it can read the iWork disk make a disk image of it so you can move the disk image to your iMac and install from the disk image.

  • Purchased CS2 from EBay - Serial # Still Registered.

I purchased CS2 from a seller on eBay. When I attempted to install the Serial # was still registered. I contacted the seller and he said he was not the original buyer of the program.
Is there anyway I can have the registration deactivated so I can install CS2?

You need to go back to the person you bought it from. Sounds like they may have sold you phone that is not as described.
Did you check the warranty status before purchasing it?

  • TS4268 Verification email not received to activate FaceTime from additional gmail accounts on ipad. I have checked the spam folders and tried sending the activation email from my Mac as well but I'm still not getting them.

I'm not receiving the verification email to activate two additional gmail addresses for Facetime on my ipad air. I have been trying for over a week and the emails are not in my spam or junk folders. I have also logged into my Apple id from my Mac and tried to verify from there but I'm still not receiving the verification emails. Anyone know how to resolve this please?

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Acrobat XI Pro Installed, Activated, Cannot Register

Acrobat XI Pro (Mac) was purchased, installed (a valid license key was entered at time of installation), and activated. I did not register it at the time of installation because I did not then have the Adobe ID available. I have subsequently attempted to register the installation with Adobe using the proper Adobe ID.
The first attempt was using the online registration page (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/gpr/index.cfm) but that link yields either a blank page (in Firefox, Safari) or a 404 error (in Internet Explorer) on every computer (Mac and PC) and browser on which I have attempted to use it. The link to that page came from Adobe - Product Registration Options.
Next I attempted to register from within the installed product. When I clicked on Help / Register, I received a message that my TRIAL would expire in 30 days! This would seem to me to indicate that the software was not activated even though I received an activation confirmation at the time I installed. When I used the option to enter the serial number, the window just closed without any other response and when I clicked Help / Register again, I got the same "trial will expire in 30 days" message.
This installation is for a public library, which obtained a download link and license key from Tech Soup, which is a highly reputable, legitimate organization providing limited quantities of reduced-cost software to qualified non-profit organizations. It is for a perpetual standalone license, and it was not installed using Creative Cloud.
I contacted Adobe Help via chat but they were not helpful.
Acrobat XI Pro also was installed and activated on three Windows 7 PCs at the same time. Other than the failed attempts to register online using the link above, I have not yet attempted to register them from within the software.

Yes, I installed 3 different valid license keys on 3 PCs and one valid license key on one Mac. Same problems originally described exist on all, except that I have subsequently been able to register all with Adobe. But I still have the bogus messages about my trial expiring in 30 days even though I installed with valid license keys and activation was confirmed at the time of installation.

  • Windows .V2 profiles unable to download from a Mac Server

    Hi
We've recently upgraded our file servers from 10.7.5 to 10.8.2 due to some issues with SMBX and inactive memory. While the inactive memory seems for the most part to have resoved it's self. We're still having problems with SMBX.
I have a feeling all our problems are connected somehow, but I can't figure out what it it is.
I'll start with our most urgent issue
We have a file server that hold's all our Student home folders and Windows profiles. When a WIN7 user goes to login it's been taking an age, the problem is that for some reason the WIN7 machine is unable to download that users profile and logs them in with a temporary one. When you look at the in Event Viewer the following message show's up:
I've checked the permission's and the network and they seem fine to me, infact once logged in with the temporary profile, I can connect to the profile share, create a folder and browse the users profile!
The console logs for smbd on the server only tell me when people are connecting to thier home folders.
Our next issue is when we craete an Active Directory user (from our domain admin accounts), fill in the path for the home folder, once apply is pressed we get the following message:
The home folder cannot be created because: The request is not supported
If you click ok on that message it then goes back to the account, if you press apply again it say's that the folder is already there and would I like to set the permissions? Great I say, until I check the permissions and they're all correct other than the user isnt in the permissions at all!
Our third issue is that windows users (including domain admins) are unable to see the permissions on a file or folder, located on our Mac file servers. Not so much of an issue more of an annoyance.
Any help would be greatly appricateted!
    Thanks, Paul

Some of the troubleshooting we have done are as follows:
Checked DNS - our backup network was also registering in DNS so I ran dsconfigad -restrictDDNS "bond0" so that our connection the domain only registered in DNS and stoped the backup network's IP address from registering.
Moved a student's profile from the Mac server to a Windows server (changed path in AD) - User could login with their moved profile.
Deleted and re-created the profile shares.
Checked the permissions are correct and the same as the windows counter part that does work.

  • How do I wipe the data from my Mac if I sell it on to a new owner

I am selling my version 1 Mac book air, running on Lion, how do I wipe the data from the machine but leave the OS in place and working for the new owner?
    thanks

To prepare a computer for sale or donation, in addition to the steps mentioned in this support article, take these steps:
If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted
If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to zero out data. An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you paid for an upgrade OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstallthe original OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by booting into Internet Recovery (option-command-R at the startup chime.)
The new owner will have to repurchase the software, if need be, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer them either.
Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

How do I remove my App Store information from
a Mac about to be sold ?

Before you sell or give away your computer, in addition to the steps mentioned in this support article, take these steps:
Run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do this (or he should), and you don't want to be surprised by the results.
Reset the PRAM and the SMC, which might contain personal information.
If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.
If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.

You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you upgraded to OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstall an older OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by starting up in Internet Recovery mode (option-command-R at the startup chime.) If you installed from physical media, deliver those to the new owner.
If you're selling the machine, or donating it in working order, and it originally shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, then you have the option of installing either from the discs that came with it or from a retail Snow Leopard disc (which you must then transfer with the machine.) The buyer should understand that if he doesn't get the original discs from you, he won't get the bundled iLife applications or the Apple Hardware Test. Replacements for the original discs can be ordered from Apple.
The new owner will have to redownload any software that came from the App Store, including OS X upgrades, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer those either.
Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

  • My Mid-2011 Macbook Air becomes extremely hot when installing apps from the Mac App Store and when deleting apps

My Mid-2011 Macbook Air 13-inch (OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion) becomes hot to the touch when trying to delete large documents, watching videos after waking it from sleep-mode and when installing applications from the Mac App Store. This has also been happening with OSX Lion before I upgraded it to Mountain Lion.

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico my first language is Spanish. I do not speak English, however I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
What needed to be done the day that you set up the new Mac was go into the Mac App Store (MAS), sign into your iTunes/MAS Apple ID, go to the Purchases pane and Accept the iLife apps that would have been there in a special section. That would have sent you Mac's unique identifier code to Apple's servers and verified that this Mac was eligible for the bundled iLife suite and then registered these apps into your MAS account.
You might try going to  ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist, delete the adption plist, restart the Mac and then go to the Purchaes pane and see if you can Accept the apps into your account.

How can I remove iCloud from my Mac Book and iPad and Mac Book Air and then just reload back on the MB Air and iPad only, which have a different user with a separate Apple ID?

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
