De-focus panel so that normal text entry continues to work?

I build an extension using Flash Builder and Extension Builder 2. When the user clicks a button on my extensions panel, the main window loses focus & you can't enter any text into textfields.
I tried to give the focus back using
app.activate();
CSXSInterface.getInstance().requestStateChange(com.adobe.csxs.events.StateChangeEvent.WIND OW_LOSE_FOCUS, null);
app.activeDocument = app.activeDocument;
app.activeWindow = app.activeWindow;
app.doScript("app.activate();",ScriptLanguage.JAVASCRIPT);
but nothing worked!
Any hints?

This bug has been fixed recently. The fix will be included in the next release of Firefox for Android. For details, see:

The fix is already included in the nightly development builds of Firefox, which you can test out at: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android

  • Captivate 4 AS2 Text Entry Box not working with Flash Player 11

I am having issues with text entry boxes not working at all in flash 11. I am using Captivate 4 and exporting an AS2 swf. When you get to the slide you can type but you cannot see anything nor does the button or keystroke to move on. Also there is no cursor. Any ideas?

You said it is not working with Flash 11, so does that mean you tested with previous version and that worked?
While publishing choose Flash player as 9 and publish that, verify if that plays in a compatible web browser.
AS 2 is a legacy scripting, it has been said not too be supported with even Flash Player 10 --
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS2LCR/Flash_10.0/help.html?content=Part2_AS2_LangRef_1.html
I believe if you switch back to version 9 while publish your project, it should work.

  • Text Entry Box not working right??

This is strange…. If anyone has any thoughts…
    that would be great.
I have a slide that tests someone's knowledge for inputting
into a text entry box. I want to give them 2 tries for doing this
task - and if they don't perform the task correctly, I want an
error message to display. However, I want the error message to be
different based on the 1st time that they try and the second time.
The method to accomplish this.. I have done many times, and has
always worked. However, for some reason, it's not working this
    time.
In order to customize the error message based on whether it's
the 1st try or the second - I have created 2 text entry boxes.
The first text entry box is set to display at 0 seconds, is
set to display for 2 seconds and is set to pause after 1.5 seconds.
If the user enters a successful text entry the user will be
navigated to the next slide, if the user enters an incorrect text
entry they will continue on the same slide and a failure caption is
selected to display (this is the first error message that displays
    for the first try.)
The second text entry box is set to display at 2 seconds, is
set to display for 2 seconds and is set to pause after 1.5 seconds.
If the user enters a successful text entry the user will be
navigated to the next slide, if the user enters an incorrect text
entry they will continue on the same slide. No failure caption is
selected to display. This is the important point... I have not
selected for a failure caption to display for this text entry box.
I have a text caption that displays at 4 seconds - this is
the second error message that the user will see if they input an
incorrect text entry into the second text entry box.
Everything seems to work fine except... for some reason, when
I enter an incorrect text entry into the second text entry box, I
get the failure message that I set for the first text entry box.???
Very strange. I have recreated this 3 times - each time it works.
Then, all of a sudden, it stops working. I’ve even tried
recreating the movie from scratch… but same results.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Lynn

    Hi again
Okay, makes sense. I suppose in this case, I'd simply use
another slide. From what you have explained, it would appear there
is a possible issue Captivate is having with multiple text entry
    boxes on the same slide.
So I would insert a slide following the existing slide. Then
on failure of the first text entry box, direct to the next slide.
On success of the first text entry box, skip over the new slide to
    the proper "continue" slide.
    Hopefully that makes sense... Rick

  • Text Entry No Longer Works - Controls Tool Selection Instead

Well here's a particularly peeving peculiarity!
Once upon a time, you could throw a text generator into the time-line, double click on it to bring it up in the viewer, click on the Properties tab and type your text into the entry field without problems.
Well, after a short time editing, the situation changes and subsequently it seems I can't do that. Instead, my keystrokes are routed to the tool selection palette or the FCP timeline itself.
This even extends as far as trying to change the names of Sequences or Clips in the Browser.
Subsequently, ALL keyboard input in FCP fails. No keystrokes are accepted at all, not even shuttling around in the timeline. Using the mouse in a menu to export a movie works and brings up the Export dialogue, but I can't type anything in the filename field.
I've tried trashing prefs, caches, logging in under a different user account, repairing permissions, lighting black candles and meditating upon mental images of Steve Jobs and nothing seems to work.
Back in the rest of the OS, say in the Finder, keyboard input is working fine.
The only FCP related information in the Console log is a failure to load a Filter bundle - which is odd because 5.1.4 is supposed to be specifically to fix filter errors:
Final Cut Pro[241] * -[NSBundle load]: Error loading code /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ExtraFilters for bundle /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle, error code 4 (link edit error code 4, error number 0 (Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/ProCore.framework/Versions/A/ProCore
    Referenced from: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins/FxPlug/ExtraFilters.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ExtraFilters
    Reason: image not found))
I have FCP installed on a laptop too and it seems the same symptoms occur there.
What gives? Is it time to reapply the latest FCP update? Do I have difficult to diagnose font problems? Must I sacrifice another virgin to the gods?
This is FCP 5.1.4 on 10.4.8

    Could it be ...?
Trying to solve this is as irritating as having a grain of sand lodged in a soft mucus membrane - but from such irritations oysters make pearls!
(Positive thinking. It stops me using the hammer...)
It seems, at the moment, that this problem is related to using older project files, those created before 5.1.4, with 5.1.4. You do seem to get an alert asking if you want to update the project but perhaps this update doesn't complete correctly.
I haven't had a lot of time to explore but it seems new projects created in 5.1.4 don't suffer this problem.

  • IPhone cannot connect to server: I have one iPhone that has just been updated to 5.1.1 that now cannot receive email, other devices that have been updated continue to work!

We run a SBS 2003 Exhange box, however since an over-the-air update this particular handset has refused to recieve mail from Exchange (apparently Yahoo had issues too).
Authentication is fine, it will happily recognise the account if it is deleted and set up - once the user tries to recieve mail however it will annonce that the connection to the server failed.
We have several other devices on the same iOS version and others below which are working fine!
Mobile access is enabled along with all expected services with no errors being flagged in the event manager for this user - I'm not wondering what might be the cause! Something in his mail box that iOS 5.1.1 doesn't like?!
Short of a backup/restore of the device I'm can't see anything to help...

It would worth your asking in the Final Cut Pro X forum - someone else may have experienced the same problem.
I assume you have already trashed Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.dotmac... (several files beginning with this) and (same path) com.apple.idisk - though I suspect the problem lies rather with the individual programs which are trying to access something on the non-existent iDisk.

  • Text Entry Interaction -- Password Processing

    Hi everyone,
I have this text entry interaction set up to show asterisks
    when user types
    the password.
I was wondering if it can be done in a way where I have 3
    fields:
field 1 asking the user to enter current password.
field 2 asking the user to enter new password.
field 3 asking the user to re-enter new password.
    the passwords have to be:
    1) at least 8 characters long and max. 12 characters.
    2) must have at least 2 numeric characters and at least 2
    uppercase
    characters.
    3) must have at least 1 character that is not a number or
    letter, like "-"
    or "/" etc...
    4) if first character is to be numeric, then the first 3
    characters must be
    numeric
    5) if last character is to be numeric, then the last 3
    characters must be
    numeric.
Sounds like a pain in the butt work. Any idea?
    thanks in advanced,

    Hiya Brickyard
You might try inserting a new slide that becomes slide one.
Place a logo or something on the slide and use it for a Splash or
intro slide. Then place a Button or Click Box on the slide to pause
it and wait for the user to click. This accomplishes two things.
    1. It pauses the movie until the user is ready to proceed
    2. It causes focus to be placed on the Flash Object in the
    browser.
I'm thinking that it is working sometimes and sometimes not
because the Flash Object in the browser has focus sometimes and
sometimes not. Forcing the user to place focus there before seeing
the Text Entry Box may cause it to work more reliably.

  • Text entry box with double-click button - is this possible?

I need to produce a simulation in Captivate 3 where the user types in some text, then double-clicks a button to open another window.
With a normal text entry box the button doesn't seem to have the option to respond to a double click.
I can't add in an extra slide with a click box to simulate the double-click as I have icons that change colour with time on the first slide.
Are there any other ways of getting round this?

Thanks for the suggestion. That would work brilliantly normally, just not on this slide, unfortunately.
The reason for this is I have two hint icons on the screen - 1 shows a basic one then the second is a rollover slidelet with a clip of the correct action being performed. The first is on screen for a few seconds, then the second takes over.
The earliest I would be able to set the second click would be around 8 seconds in, to allow the second hint to appear before the text box pauses the slide. So anyone who immediately knew which area to click would have to click once then wait a while to make the second click.
It's annoying that the problem is of my own making by having the 2 icons, but as I've done this through a series of lessons, I can't really change it now.
I might just go ahead with the single click option (unless there's a double-click in C4? [hoping to get this soon!]) and hope that no-one notices that the screen changes a bit too quickly to really have registered the second click.

  • Captivate: Buttons need more than 1 click & Text Entry more than one Enter keypress

    Hi,
I am loading Captivate content in a Flash wrapper which is
embedded in an HTML page. Sometimes, when I enter some text in a
Text Entry field in my captivate movie and then press Enter key, it
does not register the key press in the first instance, but does it
when I do it again. Occasionally, clicks on Text Buttons are also
    not registered the first time.
This behavior is not consistent, and the same files work
    perfectly in other instances.
Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong? Would
    appreciate a quick response.
    Thanks!
    Mohsin Nabi

    Hi Mohsin,
Sounds like a focus issue. There is a variable you may want
to check out called "SeamlessTabbing". You can read more about it
    here.
Setting that parameter to 'false' will (hopefully) maintain focus
within the SWF allowing you to validate the keystrokes properly. I
encountered this issue only with tabbing, but maybe there is a tab
keystroke that does work before you encounter this issue?
Let's do two scenarios for a sense of completeness:
    1. Let's assume there is no way it could be a 'tab' issue
causing you to lose focus. In this case, make sure that your click
box \ text entry box appear at 0.1s into the slide they are on
(sometimes this causes issues if they are placed at 0.0). Also,
make sure they are set to do what they are intended to do like go
to the next slide or whatever.
    2. If this is all started because of the tab key, try the
following: Create a text entry box on the same slide that has no
correct answers associated with it, so when you view the properties
of the box, the 'correct entries' box should be empty. Set the "On
success" to be "No Action" rather than its default "Continue". Set
the shortcut key to be Tab just like your other text entry box.
Finally, make sure the timing matches the other text entry box to a
tee. Once you have the text entry box on the slide, shrink it as
much as possible and tuck it away in a corner. Finally, make sure
that the text entry box that you type in is on the top layer of the
slide, and the other box that we just made is on the bottom. Then
again, as long as it is not in front of the text entry box you are
typing in, you will be fine.
If there is no success with these, I would recommend
implementing the seamlessTabbing variable I mentioned earlier into
your wrapper, not the individual Captivate file, to see if that
    helps at all.
Give that a try and let us know how it goes!
    Good luck,
    HTH,
    Doug

  • Text Entry Boxes and their content not being captured in Automatic Recording

I have searched the forums here and elsewhere extensively and whilst I have found people with similar issues, I have yet to find a solution. My problem is this:
I am trying to record myself using a piece of software which contains numerous text fields. In the past, when using Captivate 3, I would simply fill out these fields and Captivate would record my entries automatically. When the project was played back, the training simulation would pause and allow the user to type in the text field and provided the entry matched the options I had defined, the simulation would continue to the next step.
So, my colleague and I have since bought Adobe Tech. Comms. Suite 2 and have upgraded Captivate 3 to version 4. Ever since doing this we have both been unable to successfully capture text entry boxes with their content when recording automatically in any mode. We have checked and triple checked the settings to make sure that the automatic capture of text entry in fields is turned on yet we still cannot get Captivate to perform this task it once so easily could. We both suffer from the same problem on both of our installations of Captivate 4. We have tried recording in all modes with no success.
I am tearing my hair out as I need to come up with some sample content for a major Governmental client which would be worth a 5 figure sum to my company and I really don't relish having to manually create every text entry box as there are a LOT of them in this application!
I have also reported this as a bug to Adobe using the correct form. As yet, no response.
I would really appreciate any genuine help that can be offered by you guys.
    In desperation,
    Rob.

Ok, I think I've sussed it!
I've been pulling my hair out for weeks on this and after posting on here, I decided to try something and I think I may have found the problem.
I work with a laptop as I am a Trainer and therefore quite mobile. When I'm in the office, I dock my laptop and use the Extended Desktop functionality of Windows so I have my laptop screen and a second 19" monitor which i find incredibly useful as screen real estate is always at a premium. And this is where I believe the problem lies.
I performed a simple test and have repeated this test with identical outcomes everytime. Here is what I did. I fired up Captivate and Outlook and opened up a new mail window in Outlook. I then set Captivate to record the new mail window and hit record. I typed some text into the To field and the Subject field and then stopped the recording. I then previewed the results. When the new mail window was on my primary screen, (i.e the laptop) the Text Entry Box recording worked 100% fine. However, if the new mail screen was residing on my secondary screen, i.e. the monitor, the Text Entry Box recording failed!
So it would seem that Captivate 4 has an issue with seeing the text entered on a secondary monitor when Windows is running in Extended Desktop mode. I am absolutely certain this wasn't an issue with Captivate 3 as I created plenty of content without any of these problems and I was using the Extended Desktop back then.
So, if anyone else is having the same issue, and you are running an Extended Desktop, try what I did above.
In the meantime, I am raising this issue with Adobe in the hope they can get this fixed, but at least now I can carry on with my content creation
    Regards,
    Rob.

  • Text Entry Box not displaying

    Hello,
I apologize if this has been answered prior, but I've searched and couldn't find a solution (although I might just be terrible at searching).
Whenever I do a software simulation recording in a particular Captivate project (I'm running 5.5), the recording doesn't seem to auto-insert the TEB's for the text fields I've used (at all).  Instead, when the slide that's suppoesed to require text-entry is shown, it just auto-fills all the text I entered during the simulation and skips to the end of the slide.  I can't for the life of me figure out why; there are no TEB's on the timeline either for that slide.
I do have my Custom settings setup to "Automatically Add Text Entry Boxes for Text Fields"
Any idea why this is happening?

    Hi there
Unfortunately there are a few variables in this equation. Captivate may not understand that a text entry field is a text entry field. It sometimes misunderstands other controls it encounters. I believe that it largely depends on how the application developer elected to name the element. I believe that's how Captivate knows what an element is. By its name. So if an application developer created a Text Entry field but named it something obscure, Captivate fails to recognize it as such and insert the appropriate element.
The good news here is that you are free to add any element you like after you have recorded. So even though Captivate failed to catch it, there's nothing preventing you from manually adding it. It's a hassle to have to do it, but at least you aren't prevented from doing it.

  • How to hide the cursor in text entry boxes

I didn't see this answer in the forum, and it took a while to figure this out so I thought I'd post my
    solution.
The issue is that a question requires that the user know where to click before typing, then type the correct value.
The problem is that a text entry field shows the cursor; a dead give-away as to where the user is supposed to type.
    My solution is:
    1) Hide the text entry box (give it a name and uncheck 'Visible' in the options).
    2) Add a transparent button (with default text if needed) over the area where the user must click.
         - Set the 'Success' option to 'Show', and make the 'Show' item the name of your text entry box.
         - Disable all captions (unless they get points for clicking in the right place).
    3) Set the object timing so the button displays until clicked, then end the button display.  Start the display of the text entry field immediately after the end of the button display.
The effect is that the user clicks the correct area, then the cursor displays in the correct location, ready for the text entry.

    Brilliant!
You get a gold star for this idea.  Very original thinking.

  • Tab key used as the shortcut key when using a text entry box

When I use the Tab key as my shortcut key for a text entry box, it works fine in preview mode but does not work in the web browser preview mode.  I have tried to understand how I can take an existing project that is built for web browser application and make the tab key work.  The only thing I have been able to make my text feild entry take me to the next slide is to have the user click Enter instead of Tab and that is not the typical way we move between fields in the real application.  So....simulations is not accurate.  Can you give me step-by-step instructions on how to correct this problem in an already existing project?

I think that you need to disable "Seamless Tabbing" in your file for it to work when published.
You need to edit the HTML file that launches your course manually.
Open your HTML file in notepad or equivalent
Between the <object> </object> tags add:
    <param name="SeamlessTabbing" value="false">
    Save the HTML file again

  • Clear Text Entry after wrong answer

    Hello,
I'm searching a way for clearing text entry box after the
    user entered a wrong answer.
If this it's not possible to do that with text entry, is it
possible to do that with captivate question quiz, or somthing else?
    Thank you
    Miky Aviel

The problem is that the text-entry object is a "scoring
object" and it is considered best practice NOT to allow movement to
and fro once a scoring object has been answered.
The solution is to move forward through the eLearning
experience, not back and forth. So how does that apply? Well, one
way is to duplicate the slide, including the text-entry object, so
the same problem can be offered for solution in the slide(s)
following the failed effort. The same principals apply to question
slides ... if you want the user to retake a failed effort, you
should add (for instance) an "explanation" slide after the question
slide and route the use to that following failure; then the
following slide can be a re-creation of the question slide if you
want to give the student a second chance at the same question.
There are problems with doing it this way - for one, the
scoring is going to be "skewed" - or could be unless the second
attempt is weighted at "zero". But since the basic learning concept
of asking each question only once is being thrown out anyway, the
skewed scoring may not be a big deal (?).

  • Firefox does not open the tablet input panel for text entry

On windows tablet editions (XP in this case) handwriting input is provided by a popup entry box that normally appears when a text entry area is selected. This only happens sometimes in firefox, making convenient browsing an intermittent possibility. Previously Geckotip extension provided the utility but it has long since become obselete.

I currently use a windows 7 tablet exclusively in my medical practice.  I bought and then had to return a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet because of the limitations of the TIP.  I agree with your 3 points above.
Please offer the Windows 7 tablet input panel, at least as an option for those of us who use a tablet exclusively with a stylus.  The touch keyboard app simply will not work for my purposes.
I too have been using the Windows 10 preview and look forward to the upgrade, but only if I can get the current Windows 7 Tablet input panel.
    Thanks
