Deadline Branch not working

Hi All,
I configured a simple BPM scenario with a Block step with 3 braches namely
1. Normal Branch(one receive step with in infinite loop step).
2. dead line branch with 1 min timeout. within this a control step to throw exception
3. Exception branch with no Action(no steps inside this branch)
And Obviously there is a send step outside the block (For File system).
I am not using any mapping case or even a container operation for collecting message.
My intention is only to understand deadline branch.
I am sending data from HTTPClient. The message comes to BPM. Ideally after 1 min.deadline should get executed (the infine loop should break) and I should see a response in the File System.
But this is not happening. So I followed some previous threads in Forum and I found a solution(not automatic) to make this scenario working.

when I execute the above program in SE38 I am seeing a status message "'1' entries have been edited".
And Deadline monitor gets executed and I am getting response to my file system.
But this is not the solution I am looking for.
How can I make my workflow(deadline branch) automatic.
Please help me out.

Hi Patrick,
The BPM is not at all in error state. As I mentioned earlier when I am execting the report (>> Ran the program RSWWDHEX in foreground) I am able to get the ouput. I also followed SAP notes mentioned but they are not useful in my case.
Any other Ideas?

As I said I am following standard pattern expect container operation (for appending messages as it is in infinite loop.).
So every time the message will be over written and when the loop breaks I will get last over written message which container variable hold.(Abstract interface for receive step).
So there is no container operation.

Workitem processing at Modelled branch not working.

Hello,
i have created a step ( activity ), in which the latest end is given as 'Workitem item creation' and time is 1 Minute and its modelled to a outcome 'DEADLINE' and the step is activated for processing obselete in Outcomes tab.
In modelled outcome branch (DEADLINE), i have given a step Process control, where i set the main step as 'Set work item to Obselete' .
In the Processing obselete branch, I have created a new step( activity) . It is going through this new activity step and i am getting the workitem in my inbox. When i approve the workitem through my bussiness work place the workflow is going to the COMPLETED stage.
But at the same tme when i try to approve the work item through SWIA , it is going to the next step in the workflow. Kindly let me know why this is happening. i want the system to continue the flow not to set the status to COMPLETED when i approve from bussineess wokrplace.

It is the same workitem id at SBWP and SWIA.
You need to put they same approval step in deadline branch. This step should be similar to the subsequent step that occurs after approving maind workitem.
Is this mean i need to add ALL the steps in the deadline branch similar to the subsequent steps that occurs after the main workitem?.

Deadline branch not getting executed

Hi
In my BPM i have an infinite loop and also the deadline branch with inerval as 1 minute (for testing purpose) but when i send the message my deadline branch does not get executed after 1 minute and it keeps on waiting.
in the bpm monitoring it shows wait step created.
i have verified my design with the standard pattern available, and it is almost similar.
i am not able to find out the reason behind this strange behavior.

i did exactly the same, i have my deadline branch, in it i have my control step which trows exception, which is catched by my exception branch and does nothing, so ideally it should continue the processing after that.
but the problem is the exception is never thrown.
my deadline has been configured as
Reference Date/Time: Creating the step
Duration: 1
Unit: Minutes
control step in deadline branch
Action: Throw Exception
Exception: Time_out
Exception branch
Exception Handler: Time_Out
and outside this block i have transformation and other steps... which shoul get excuted after 1 minute deadline.

Bpm block deadline branch not triggering

For some reason, in one of my environment, the bpm block step's deadline branch doesn't get triggered. I couldn't figure it out.
I setup a 1 minute limit and it never calls the deadline branch. Same thing works in my dev environment.
please help.

Branch not working

I have a button, a process and a branch.
The button is assigned to the process and the branch and it runs the process but not the branch.
does anyone have any idea why that might be?

what do you mean it was stopping at that message? Is the success message showing after the process?
The checkbox just determines if the success message is displayed after branching - and since its appearing, seems like the branch is working, right?

Branching Not Working Correctly

I am going crazy... I have set up a quiz with 4 questions.
The first question works fine -- 3 answers, goes to 3 different
slides depending on the choice. The second question doesn't do
anything when I click submit for any of the answers, and the 3rd
will only go to one of the slide/answer options. The 4th... The
last answer works correctly, the first 2 don't go anywhere.
I've looked in the Advanced Interactions tab and it says it
should be working correctly. After reading previous problems, I
made sure the quiz is not required so the user can skip questions.
The only thing I can think... is that I copied the question
slides to make new ones because I applied some heavy formatting and
didn't want to recreate it each time. Could that be the root of the
problem?

Ok, this is what I think you are saying...
You have 4 questions...
Q1 - answer 1,2,or 3 - jumps to relevant slide dependant on
answer
Q2 - choose an answer and continue
Q3 - choose an answer and continue
Q4 - choose an answer and continue
Results display screen.
I have tried this and got it to work..here is what I did...
Slide 1 = Q1 - multiple choice, 3 answers A,B, or C. Using
the Advanced tab for each of the answers
answer A jump to slide 2, answer B jump to slide 3, answer C
jump to slide 4
place a continue button on each of slide 2, 3 & 4 which
all jump to slide 5 when clicked
Slide 5 = Q2 Choose an answer and continue
Slide 6 = Q3 Choose an answer and continue
Slide 7 = Q4 Choose an answer and continue
Slide 8 = results slide
Is this what you want? Without seeing the .CP file it is
difficult to diagnose exactly what the problem is.

Deadline branch not Terminated

I am facing a strange situation where the deadline branmch does not get terminated on completion of the particular activity step. I have an activity step which sends across mails every 5 days. Suppose on the 6th day the approval is done the 2nd escalation mails as well as 3rd escalation mail is sent on 10th as well as 15th day. Please note that SWU3 is properly configured. I think there is some settings or configureation I need to do.

Check if the condition is checked for approval before sending mail for your defined escalation management in workflow.

Deadline monitoring is not working

HI,
i had requirement to change the text displayed in the decision step type. I copied that task using pftc and changed the description and i replaced the new task number with old one. the deadline monitoring is not working for the new task .
Please anybody have idea about why deadline is not working for the new task ?

Hi Praveen,
Deadline is failing only for this workflow? Or is it failing completely in the whole system. Just create a small dummy WF with a standard decision step (or some acitvity) with deadline monitoring activated and see if it fails there also.

Can you just check whether the scheduled report RSWWDHEX are executing properly. You can check it in SM37 for user WF-BATCH. Also check in ST22 if there are any dumps for report RSWWDHEX (for user WF-BATCH).

In your activity where you have put your cutom task goto the "Outcomes" tab an check if the outcome for your deadline monitoring is "Active" (This may not change but just have a check)
Also can you let us know what are the steps that you are using in your modelled outcome? Just suspecting if the first step in your modelled outcome is going to error (which is not displayed in log).

BPM - Issue on Deadline branch on a Block

I have designed a BPM to access to an Inbound Proxy. I have put the call to the Proxy on a Block, and I have added the deadline and the exception branches.
The exception branch runs ok, but the deadline branch not. I have put a infine loop on the proxy to the process goes to the deadline branch, but the process goes to the exception branch after a minute, and I have put the deadline branch on 2 minutes.
Is this normal? Hou can I get that the process goes to the deadline exception?

One more way is to send a "stop collection" message from a proxy, chk this link

you ve to customize what Maranani describes so that the message is a "stop" rather than a "start" , hope it helps

Modeled Deadline monitoring is not working

In workflow i have used modeled Deadline monitoring for the task, in modeled branch i put a send mail step
in that branch that is working fine. once the deadline is reached that workitem is not disappearing from users inbox and modeled branch is working fine , what could be the problem please suggest me.

Conditional Branching with quiz slides not working

Attempting to use conditional branches with quiz slidescauses
the other quiz slides in my presentation to not work correctly. I
am attempting to create a 'test-out' pre-quiz for a segment of
slides in the presentation. I followed the instructions to add
conditional branching per page 46 of the Breeze Presenter User
Guide to obviously no avail. Is there a simple straightfoward
manner in which someone has successfully used conditional branches
with their quiz slides in their presentation?

I had the same issue.Apparently as of now PDF templates do not support conditional formatting for XML Publisher.

I could get some conditional formatting to work on the pdf template but only for the form field font,size and styles using Javascript, but I don't think there is a way to display values for the form field based on an if condition...

Deadline branch don`t work

Hi everybody,
I am facing the following problem:
I have developed several scenarios in XI which use BPM. Within the BPMs there are a deadline branch. It was working properly for a time and suddenly it no long work. None error is displayed, simply the process remains waiting ... The deadline (after 1 minute) should trigger a control step but it never occurs.
Any idea?

I've installed the lastest version of InDesign CC on my Mac and it works great. But in my PC the animations, buttons and functions for ePub don't work. I've tried to unistall a hundred times and still not working, even in the ePub preview. It is a problem in the instalation or in my computer? Because everything seems to work, but when I export the buttons don't have functions.. Could you help me? I need to the same thing for a client, use de MSO to large the image. It works in my Mac but when I use the InDesign on my PC it doesn't work..

Workflow WAIT FOR EVENT STEP deadline not working

Hi,
Need some inputs for the experienced people;
I have a wait for event step in a workflow with deadline monitoring (Latest End) but it doesn't seem to work.
Ofcourse, all the required setting are in place and deadline works fine for other Activity steps.
The problem is specific to Wait for event step.
The alternative is having a fork but I just want to know why the wait step with deadline doesn't work.

I'm facing the same thing in my project now, I'm wandering if you could help me with this one.
I have this wait for an event step wich is configured to wait 4 minutes since the work item creation. I've also selected 'Modeled' on the Action field, and a display text for the outcome.
But in one of my tests, the event hasn't occurred and the workflow stuck in this task forever.
