Debug EJB Application

how am i going to debug my EJB Application
do i need to write a java program with
public static void main () {}
If it is , it will be very hard to test each and every part....
what is the best way to debug....to trace the flow ?
see the log files ??

There are should be no difference between WD & EJB debugging.
Set breakpoints in EJB sources, make sure your EJB project is open, invoke Debug with your configuration (Remote debug) and when EJB is invoked then debugger should stop at defined points.
I don't know what goes wrong here, probably execution never reaches points you defined. Then try to set method breakpoints at business methods and EJB lifecycle methods (like ejbCreate) and then execute your code step by step in debugger.

Unable to debug any application after upgrading to Reef Shark and Update 6

Since I upgraded to Reef Shark and consequently also installed the update 6 I can't access the deployment server.
None of the applications show up in the broswer, nor does the admin-console for the server.

Hi Iwan,
From JDK 1.4 the com.sun.security.auth.PolicyFile class has been deprecated and replaced by sun.security.provider.PolicyFile. Could this be the reason?

Problem while running ejb application in Oracle Application Server

and i defined a sample method and in my client i called like below

In embeded oc4j server its running perfectly but after deploying to OAS below error throwing

Error While Debugging the Application

I am developing applications using WebDynpro for JAVA.
I am using NWDI 7.0.
I am getting an error while debugging the application. When I click on debug mode in debug perspective, I am getting error message as :
"Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection refused"

Calling a webservice from weblogic EJB Application

Hello,
I have a webservice running on IIS server. I created a simple java client program to call the webservice and it works fine. However, when I wrapped the same java client program as a EJB Application, I am unable to call the webservice.
I get the following error:

Could you please give some simple steps as what are the JAR Files required to be included in the Weblogic Server's classpath to call the webservice.

To start off you need to make sure that your client api is in the classpath, either in your ejb or your ear or the server classpath.
The other concern I would have is that it seems you are just not authorized to access the URL.
- Does the WSDL require credentials? So in other words when you go to the URL are you allowed to access the WSDL without athenticating.
- How does your Impl get created?
MyServiceImpl service = new MyServiceImpl()
If you are using the empty constructor then what is the wsdl endpoint in your jar file since that is the wsdl it will use. If the endpoint is localhost/xxx/xxx then you will have issues since that means your not deployed on localhost. What url is at the endpoint? Do you have access to the url from your server?
If you are using "new MyServiceImpl(url);" then again is the wsdl locked down because in this case you will need to do somthing like http://username:[email protected]/xxx?wsdl

Need suggestion for a database connection issue in an EJB Application

Hi Friends,
I am facing some serious problem in my EJB application. Some times, my application is waiting for unknown reason while it connects to database as executing a stored procedure to get and assign a unique number to a transaction.
This stored procedure is used to get a unique number from database and update the database with the new unique number which is incremented by previous number.
During this waiting time, if any other transaction hits my application, then my application assigning same unique number to these 2 transactions.
But It is not happening always. It is happening very less number of times. What should I take care of the code to not happen this? Can I implement any synchronization kind of thing here?
If I implement synchronization kind of thing, If the first transaction gets the lock and waits for some time, then I think it will effect for subsequent transactions. Could You please suggest me on this issue?

is a simple EJB with a servlet that invokes it.

Our custom got an error when startup our .NET windows form application.

manually.

We can not duplicate this problem in our development environment and test environment. So, we ask them to uninstall application, .NET Framework 1.1 and resinstall .NET Framework 1.1 and application. They still got same error. We further ask them to install .NET Framework SDK 1.1. They got some detail error message.

Looks like the problem is casued by missing component. But we don't know which component missing and how to find it. Is there anybody can give us some clue what we need to check next and what tool we can use to detect missing component.

I tried Dependency Walker in our development environment, looks like it's useless for .NE T Window Form application, the result I got is like bellow,

Build a EJB/ Application with Sun One Studio and deploy to Weblogic

Dear all,
My boss require me to use Sun One Studio 4 update 1 to do the development, but
I find it's a nightmare to deploy the EJB/ application to the WebLogic 6.1.
I've already installed the weblogic plug-in in the Sun One Studio.
During deploying I could not find any setting that ask me for the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml.
So I think the deployment will fail.
Is there any others tutorial or e-book that can help me to familiar with the deployment
process?

The javaee.jar from the Java EE SDK should be sufficient. Just add this jar to the installed JRE (Window - Preferences - Java - Installed JREs - Edit). You need at least the javax.ejb package.

What is the directory structure of EJB applications?

I am new to EJB program. I know that after the development is done, we package the EJB components into .jar file, and package the Web components (HTML/JSP/Servlets/JavaBeans) into .war file, and then together we package .jar file and .war file into a single .ear file. Then we just deploy the .ear file into WebLogic's application directory.
But, before the deployment, I mean during the development, what kind of directory structure is good for us to develop our EJB, HTML, JSP, Servlets, and JavaBean components?
Previously, when I was doing JSP/Servlets applications, my directoy structure is:
webapps\
--------myapplication\
-----------------------*.html
-----------------------images\
------------------------------*.jpeg, *.gif
-----------------------jsp\
------------------------------*.jsp
-----------------------WEB-INF\
------------------------------web.xml
------------------------------classes\

Now, I am doing EJB applications, what should be the directory structure?

I have been involved in a few enterprise applications but have not been happy with the packaging structures used and am starting a new one now and am looking for other examples.
this is what I've used before.
web/
classes/
client/
server/
but if a class was used in the client and server it was put under the server/ package. I feel that more separation is needed.

Debug EJB in JDev from JSP page

Hi,
I have read Oracle Note 120139.1 which has helped me debug EJB through JDeveloper. One problem is that it only works with a standard java client, not with a JSP page.
I have tried setting "debug file as" Oracle8i EJB/CORBA and making the debug class oracle.jdeveloper.debugger.ServletMain with the jsp page as the first parameter (similar to how JDeveloper actually kicks off debugging a JSP), however this fails with the following output:

If I add 4 "dummy" parameters, this error goes away, everything appears to work, except the page does not load in the browser which pops up and the breakpoint is never hit. I suppose this is to be expected as I don't actually know what those 4 extra parameters do as I don't have an API specification for the oracle.jdeveloper.debugger.ServletMain class.
Is it possible to do this (even in an unofficial "workaround fashion?). I would love to know what the additional parameters for the oracle.jdeveloper.debugger.ServletMain class are so I can try running it that way...

By Clear parameter if you mean to remove a request parameter from HttpServletRequest, then you can't. And also, I think this is not an actual solution to what you are trying to solve.
Moreover, you should better post questions related to JSP/Servlet in web tier here .

I have found a document on OTN that explain the basics of binding but it's to vast and too complicated under pressure. Calling an EJB application in webdynpro

Dear SDN's,
I am trying to call an EJB application from a webdynpro application and is succeded in storing values to database via Java Bean Model.
I want to retrieve all records from table via EJB and all the records should be displayed in Webdynpro Table UI element.
How can we do it?
The problem here is, how to return a set of records to webdynpro from EJB via a javabean.
I am not clear in using Collection Framework! i.e, which collection class i have to use to store the retrieved records.
