Debugging OIM workflow - OIM

Is there a way to debug OIM workflow (provisioning, approvals)?
If not now, are there any plans to add this into future releases?

i think debugging should be available through some IDE. Design console should go away.
I have seen many products who use Eclipse for developing,debugging and deploying enterprise level apps. directly from IDE. A very famous example is SAP Entriprise Portal.
When will Oracle publish such a product!!!

Can we debug the Workflow ?

Hi All,
I have created a method in the BO, it is working fine when i tested that BO. then i call that method in an activity step with required parameters, but that didnot work.
Then i tested that Task that i used in that Activity step using SWUD transaction, that task is also working fine. It is giving the desired output. Then i checked the binding of the workflow, it seems to be fine, but still i created it again, but still when i am executing workflow, values are not coming into Workflow container.
Is there any way to debug the workflow ?
how can i know that where is the issue ?

Check the binding between event and workflow container...

I wish to know can we debug a workflow. If yes then how?
Also if i want to know how the flow is going for the business process in question. I mean if it is stuck some where, then what is the way for it?

Hi Neha,
Yes you can debug the WF to check the LOG in terms of Graphical Display and Technical details..!!
Use the following transaction:-
1> SWE4/SWELS -> EVENT TRACE ON/OFF (Switch On the Event Trace)
2> SWEL -> DISPLAY EVENT TRACE
3> SWUD -> WF DIAGNOSTICS
4> SWPR -> WORKFLOW RESTART AFTER ERROR
Enter the WF Number and Click on the LOG Icon.
There you can see the Graphical Log of the WF to know where the WF is stuck.
And You can also check the Technical Details of the WF there, to find which WF Container has what value.

If you want to set breakpoints in method which is used in workflow task then it is possible
till ECC5 am afraid about ECC6
you can see the graphical view of workflow through transactions said by Kalpesh
you can also use swwl (delete workflow) for viewing the container elements of the workflow.
SWI2_ADM1:Workitem without agents
SWI2_DIAG:Workflow with error
these transactions are also helpful

please tell me how to debug the workflow, if you have time then you just see the workflow WS99900212 . in this i have done Leave Approver Notification . but i want to debug on that how to flow step by step .

You can try first of all to enable more logging. (I assume you are running release ERP 2005 since you are not saying what your release is.)
In the workflow builder, select menu item "Goto", "Basic data"
Select the "Version-dependent (current workflow version)" tab
Select the "Control" tab within the version-dependent subscreen
Select the "Performance optimization" tab within the control subscreen
Change the "Settings" drop-down value to "No restrictions on logging".
That will give you much more information in the workflow log. The description of this choice says "All the messages are logged. All runtime operations can be traced." As also noted: don't keep this setting in a production system.

Hi,
try the below way.
2) Insert a infinite loop in ur method code as below:
data: exit type c.
do.
if exit = 'X'.
exit.
endif.
enddo.
Using an infinite loop and SM50 works.
If u r test running the WF then u can check values at runtime also in the WF log.How they ar getting populated at each stage if you did the proper binding.
Do:
Program/Session > Program > Debugging
in SM50.
Don't forget to remove the infinite loop!

How to trace/debug main workflow calling sub workflow.

I am calling Sub workflow from MAIN workflow.
I am able to trace till beginning of sub workflow, with the help of workflow log.
But, is it possible to trace/debug the sub workflow as well(in single stretch).
Please guide with t-codes & procedures(links).......

Hi Santosh,
You should be able to see the technical log for the subflow as well - but perhaps that's not what you are asking.
First, you should always be able to 'trace' your subflows by starting them directly via SWUS. Then you will have the log to review.
You can also set the workflow trace on via SWU9.

Debugging Workflow in ESS/MSS module .

Hi,
I know the stpes to debugging simple workflow and trouble shooting the same, but now
I want to know the debuggibg workflow steps for workflow running with ESS/MSS module Framework,
The scenario is
Its actually Approving Forms in ESS/MSS module, The Employee applying medical leave from his Id, then it will go to first level approver inbox once he approve it goes to second level approver inbox once he approves then it will go to third level approver inbox and he is the final level approvel once he approve the proces will be done.
The problem is, After the second level approver approves the form its updating wrong third level approver so its not comming to third level approver inbox. The workflow is designed under Z class but I dont have update cone in Z class methods.
The updation part is comming under standard ess/mss framework code.
So please tell me the steps how i can debugg or execute worklow in background for all the steps,
like from first step I like pass the container to second steps and goes on.

In ESS/MSS leave request the employee will apply the leave from portal and the workflow will triggered based on the spro which workflow template is used. Has you said that updation my custom cone. What is meant by that. Has as has i know we need to update the infotype 2001. This can be done by std FM.
To degbug.
In the put a external break point of the std FM which screen it call. I hope its called the webdypro java screen which nothing but a std FM. You need to find that FM. Then put a external breakpoint. change the user name from goto menu. Once you approve button is clicked in the portal. The debugger will open.

Debug Adobe Form Workflow

Hi folks, I am trying to debug a workflow based on Adobe Form through the Portal.
I am setting a breakpoint inside the workflow but when executing the form through the portal, the code is never been passing for the breakpoint.
My portal user and the debugging user is the same.
I have set all the required parameters in SPRO to associate my scenario with the workflow.
Am I forgetting something?
Is it possible to debug the workflow?

Where did you set the break-point? Is it an external breakpoint?
Otherwise you can try to set an endless loop and debug it from SM50.

How are you all able to test Workflow

I'm trying to implement workflow (update values). It is my understanding that any changes made to the workflow don't show up until the next day. If I am correct this makes it hard to test a workflow (in a timely manner)to be sure it is set up correctly.

One thing I've learned is to debug the workflow creating tasks that are assigned to yourself. Once that is working, then go switch to email (assuming that's what you are trying to do). I've found the task creation to be very dependable. Email delivery has disappointed me more than once.

Firstly, I recommend to debug your workflow in Visual Studio to see if there is anything incorrect in the code about Activating the feature.
Then I recommend to deploy the project as wsp solutions and then deploy it to SharePoint. After that use Install-SPFeature command to install the feature, then activate the feature to how it works.

Workflow status is "In Progress"

Hi ,
I have created a workflow which is attached to custom list. Problem with this workflow is , sometimes workflow does not update
status of the workflow in the list.
All tasks associated with workflow are completed but status in list is shown as “In Progress” instead of completed.
Workflow: state machine workflow
Environment: Sharepoint2013

According to your description, my understanding is that sometimes your state machine workflow status still stuck on "In Progress" when all the tasks has completed.
The steps in a state machine workflow execute asynchronously. This means that they are not necessarily performed one after another, but instead are triggered by actions and states. In this case, the workflow status may have not been refreshed.
I suggest you can wait for some time and refresh the page to see if the status has changed.
If the issue still exists, I suggest you can check if the workflow has executed the completed state also can track the execute steps with debugging.
