Default Value for Page Items

Hi,
I use page items quite heavily in my workbooks to allow the user to filter the recordsets as they require.
Some of these page items are based on dates - i.e. Extract Date (my underlying tables are updated on a daily basis, so the Extract Date soon contains several values).
Is there any way I can set the Page Item to show the latest (MAX) Extract Date when the work book is opened?

Also, when alternate sorts are in use these will generally trigger Discoverer to add the NOREWRITE hint to the SQL, which can cause horribly slow performance.
I used to use alternate sorts a lot but these days I use them very sparingly. When I want a list of values to come up in a certain order I now use a custom folder and add the ORDER BY in there. This allows the list to come up right when my users are picking and stops the NOREWRITE hint, but it also removes the alternate sorting from the display.
There are other causes for the inclusion of NOREWRITE hint but this is the main one.

Hi,
I don't think this is possible. You can of course use a parameter to select the page item and default the parameter but then the user will have to rerun the report to see other pages items.

Hello,
I am trying to set the default value for a listbox where multiple items are selected.
If a single item is selected then this.getField("zzz").defaultValue = x; works fine, but you cannot use defaultValue for multiple indicies. The manual mentions the user or export events but I cannot see how that would work.
Any help will be appreciated.

To set Default values for web items in WAD

Hi Experts,
      I am designing the web templates. There, I placed some drop-down boxes. In that item, I would like to set default values.
      Usually in the drop-down box, 'show all values' is selected. Instead of displaying all values, the drop-down box should be set to the filter value.
       Pls give me the solution to sort out the problem....

are you using 7.0 or 3.x?
in 7.0 you can use the webcommands of the webTemplate.
Use Dataprovider commands and there is an option for assigning a default value.
To eliminate All Values, unchecked it for the dropdown box.

How to reference SQL column value for page item text field

greetings,
I created a simple report based on sql query. the query is select employeeid,salary from emp_tbl. under the report column i see employeeid and salary. I created a page item text field with the source type pl/sql function body. inside this source is simple block.

from the error i take it that it doesn't understand salary. I have tried bind variable (:salary) , hash marks (#salary#), ampersand (&salary.) but nothing works. Is this even possible?

Hi Mon,
I think you will find that anything you do in Forms, you can achieve in Apex, but you may have to think a little differently. Finding direct equivalents in both environments may not be easy or even possible in some circumstances, but with a little knowledge and thought an equivalent overall business flow can be achieved that is just as efficient.
For example, in Forms where you have a multi row block based on a table, if you need to add any derived fields then you will add these at the block level. I can see that this is what you are trying to achieve in Apex.
In Apex this will be more easily achieved by specifying the derived fields as part of the query for the region, and if the derivation of the fields is complex you can use user defined functions. If you require page type items to be displayed such as text boxes, LOV's, radiogroups, datepickers etc then these can be embedded in the query with the use of the Apex API, see the APEX_ITEM supplied package.
I know this is still very high level, but I hope it helps you on your way in your journey with Apex.

Pick Default Value from Page 0

I have a page with a select list. I need to set the default value for this item from a value in a item from page 0.
As Default Value for the item, i've put :P0_SSC_CLIENTE, but it does not work.

I don't know what am I missing here, but it does not work.
It doesn't accept v('P0_SSC_CLIENTE'). It is not valid for default values. If I use &P0_SSC_CLIENTE, it gives me a runtime error too (ORA-06550: line 1, column 27: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "&" when expecting one of the following: ( - + case mod new...) if it's a PLSQL Expression. If it is a static value, it just displays &P0_SSC_CLIENTE instead of showing it's value.

How to create a display value and a return value for an item

Hi! I have an item on a form. I want the default value for my item to be :":APP_USER", but the return value, to be the id of my user. I tried to create a PL/SQL Expression for the default item, but it doesn't work. What do I miss?
It should be something like this, but it's not.

Hi VItaly,
Display value and return value concept applies very well in case of a Combo box if i am correct, I don't know what type of item is your's.
But any way, you can have a workaround like,
Create a hidden item such that it's default value should be ID of the user which can be get from db by using :APP_USER.
Use the this item for your references.
I think this will meet your requirement.

Extending flash: how do I set default values for filenames

I am trying to set default values for filenames
<choosefile> and <popupslider>s that will show up when
my XMLpanel first loads in my jsfl extension file. It seems that I
can only set default values for textbox items.
How do I do this for filenames and popups?
As a workaround, I also tried using a flash object dialog box
to look like a <choosefile>, or any jsfl command, but then
how do I return those values back to the XMLpanel that calls them.
and pass the data back to my jsfl script.

Create two constants for the Allocate Mode input (right click > create > constant). Place one in the true case of the case structure, and place the other one in the false case. Wire them to the same tunnel (border of the case structure), then wire the tunnel to the Allocate Mode terminal of the AO Config. I don't have Traditional DAQ installed, but that should do it.

How to set a default value for a page item

I am working with a facility table that has name and address information. The user can add contact name information on a separate page. Since the address for the facility and contact is usually the same, I want to add a default value for the contact address. The facility page is on 201 and the link to add a new contact row is on page 202. I showed in the default value :P201_street for the contact's address. But, when I run the page, the contact address field shows the :P201_street, not the actual facility address. What am I leaving out? Must be something obvious?!

In the default value, I showed: v('P201_STREET1') with the default value type of: PL/SQL Expression and received the following oracle error ==> Item default is not a PL/SQL expression. Use &ITEM syntax. The v('ITEM') syntax is not valid for item defaults. So I changed it to: &P201_STREET1 and got another oracle error , ERR-9132 error in PLSQL expression for item default code, item=P202_STREET1.

Why don't you try setting the default value in the List next to the Matrix - item 107
Item 107 is a matrix (a transposed one), I have no idea what list you mean... I am using item 107, not 112. Item 112 is used only to detect a click on the "Add Record" button, which is the last row of the matrix 112.
I don't see the gender column in the grid and I'm also unsure of the id you have for it "12" - are you sure it's correct ( i usually use Item("columnName") )?
Sorry for the confusion. "12" is the name of the standard column "Password" which we have renamed to store the gender.

Is it possible to supply the default values for search criteria items in af:query programmatically? I didn't find any of the method to set the values for the search criteria items inside the oracle.adf.view.rich.model.Criterion and oracle.adf.view.rich.model.AttributeCriterion classes.
Please let me know how can I supply DATE values by default for the search criteria items inside the view criteria.

I've search page where I've a date field (like TransactionDate). The transactionDate is a transient variable in my VO. Created a view criteria using this transient date filed and kept the operator as 'Between'. When I load the page, I want to keep the values for Between operator as 'CurrentDate' and 'CurrentDate - 365 days' (LastYearDate as of today).
I can't use bind variables to set the currentDate and lastYearDate to the values of the 'Between' operator. If I use so, I will get an error 'Attempt to set a parameter that doesn't occur in the sql.....'.
So I thought of overriding the QueryEvent inside the bean. But I didn't find a way to set the values for the TransactionDate programmatically.
I tried below code in the queryEvent method, but in this case the response time is very hign ( I didn't see the result till 30mn).

Default values for files and columns when adding a discoverer porlet

Hi, i'd like to know how to configure the default value for numbers of columns and files when i add a new discoverer porlet in a portal page.
The actual default value is 10 files and 6 columns and i always have to increase it to at least 100x100.
Is there any config file where i can change that?
I've found a configuration.xml in $ORACLE_HOME/discoverer/config/configuration.xml
with a section

but couldnt find a parameter for those items.

I have two drop downs. Both are coming from look up fields from two lists. i want to set a default value(first list item) for the first drop down list box and then apply cascading based on the default value for the next drop down list box. where in i can set a default value but i can't apply cascading based on that default value. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
