Defective ports on SG200-18?

I have two SG-200-18 that seemingly only works with GE17 and GE18.
I've factory reset both, plugging a DHCP server into GE1 and waiting, no leases obtained from DHCP. Pinging 192.168.1.254 times out. Disabling DHCP server, and moving to GE17 makes 192.168.1.254 reply to ICMP ping and enabling the DHCP server causes the switch to obtain a lease as expected. But only on GE17 and GE18 (that is I've only tried 1, 2, 3, 4 and 18, 17,16 and 15)
I'm also having trouble getting the switch to actually switch packets between any other ports than GE17 and GE18. It will give a link status and TX packets>0, but RX packets=0 for other ports.  Running FW 1.3.7.18 and freshly factory reset devices. (Both 30 sec reset button and through web interface for good measure and health)
Suggestions? Or just RMA it and be done?

We had some switches where a couple ports became non-functional when we upgraded to 1.3.7.18. Just had to unplug them and plug them for a few seconds and back in again. Kind of odd, but they're fixed now.

  • Trouble With Port Mirroring (SG200-08)

    Trouble with port mirroring.
Even though both Tx and Rx is specified, only getting half the conversation.  Ping reply only for instance.  And when pinging from other locations no traffic at all.
    Please help
    SG200-008
    FW Version: 1.0.2.0
    Boot Version D.3.1
    Thanks

I also have problem with the mirroring of port on my SG200-08.  The firmware is 1.0.6.2.
I mirror the port g1, to which my router to the Internet is connected, to the port g2 to be able to see the traffic with a Centos system running Bandwidthd connected to the port g2.  The problem is that I only see the traffic coming in (downloads from the Internet) and not the traffic comming out (uploads to the Internet).
When looking at the SG 200-08 on the web interface at "Status and Statistics/Interface" and looking at the port g2, I see values for the "Transmit Statistics", but all the values are at 0 for the "Received Statisticsc" (see the attached file)
I confirmed that in "Administration/Diagnostic/Port Mirroring" is set up both Tx and Rx (it does not work either if I have Tx or Rx alone: I do not see the uploda traffic to the Internet). See the attached file.
This is very annoying as I purchased this SG 200-08 especially for this and it does not do the job porperly.
Does anybody knows a solution to this?

  • VLAN problems with SG200-8P and Cisco ASA 5505 (Sec Plus license)

Hi,  I've been pulling my hair out trying to get simple vlan trunking working between these devices.
Basically, no clients on VLAN 99 (guest) will receive DHCP ip addresses when plugged into the SG200.  I have the SG200<>ASA VLAN trunk configured correctly, as I know it, and I've tried numerous variations (set trunk as general tag/untagged, etc., set the ap port to general tag/untag, etc).   Both AP's work properly when connected to the ASA e0/3 port but either will only pull the "inside" VLAN dhcp address when connected to the SG200 switch
VLAN 1 - inside (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)
VLAN 99 - guest (has separate dhcp scope assigned by ASA)

     switchport mode trunk
    Second ubiquiti AP
Both VLAN 1 and VLAN 99 clients work properly

Frustrated - yes.  Confused - maybe not as much, but I could have put some more effort into the overall picture.
There are two VLANs (1 - native) and (99 - guest).   There is a trunk port between the SG200 and the ASA configured as 1-untagged 99 - tagged.
No clients connected to the SG200 on VLAN 99  are able to access the ASA VLAN 99 using either a static VLAN IP address or DHCP.   The problem occurs whether I configure the SG200 with an access port 99-tagged or Trunk port 1UP, 99T or general port 1U, 99UP or any combination thereof.
Anything connected to the SG200 on the native VLAN works properly.
Anything connected to the ASA VLANs (1 or 99) works properly
I have not yet tried to see what the switch is doing with the VLAN tags but I suspect I have some mismatch with the Linksys/Cisco SG200 way of setting up a VLAN and how traditional Cisco switches work.
I was hoping someone with a working SG200 - Cisco ASA setup could share their port/trunk/VLAN settings or perhaps point me in the right direction.

  • Sg200 cannot join to catalyst 2495

I have 3 existing switches, two for Catalyst 2495, and one for SG200-26,
Now I add new one for SG200-26, then connect to Catalyst 2495 any port, or connect to SG200-26 any port, fail, 2495 switch will stop the port, even SG200 connect port light up, but the network is stop, cannot ping each other!
I have tried reset the new SG200-26 to DHCP or manually set IP address with the same subnet. not working, I have update all firmware.
My network no vlan setup, simple one.
I don't why my existing SG200-26 connect to 2950 is working, why add new one is not working?
I have configured 2950 with switch port, and sg200 also set as trunk port/ auto neg. when connect them. no luck!
    Any idea?

    So you are connecting a 2950 to a SG200?
What config is on the port on the 2950?

  • Link vlan between 2 SG200 switches

    Hi,
Trying to figure this one out...
I have 2 SG200 50port switches connected together by fibre modules on port 50. The fibre is linking the switches between different buildings.
I'm hoping to create the following connection route...
    Device -- SG200 Switch B Port 25 -- SG200 Switch B Fibre Port 50    ---Fibre Cable Between Buildings---    SG200 Switch A Fibre Port 50 -- SG200 Switch A Port 25 -- Cisco RV320 Router Port 3
All ports are on the same vlan (20), untagged.
Ultimately I'm trying to achieve a direct connection between 'Device' and 'RV320 router port 3', and have 'Device' pick up the DHCP configured for port 3's vlan (20).
I've tried different configs of tagged and untagged, but no luck.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

    Hi Iamael,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Only ports 25 and 50 on both SG200 switches are on vlan20. All other ports are on the default vlan.
I can't seem to achieve 20U on those 4 ports... only 20UP. The tick box to disable PVID is greyed out.
Is the SG200 capable of routing vlan traffic between ports? Or would an SG300 L3 switch be required?
    Many thanks

  • Home Network and Multiple Switches

Hi, I am upgrading my small office network as I have run out of ports on my Cisco SG100-24 unmanaged switch. I have purchased another SG100-24 which will give me the ports required. My question is how best to connect them.
I am currently using my ISP`s modem to a Cisco RV320 router to the first SG100-24. I see two obvious options here one being just daisy chain them or just connect them each to the router as more of a tree approach. I also have a 8 port switch (SG200-08) but not sure I need it any longer with the new 24 port switch though it is a "Smart-Switch".  I guess I am curious if there is any benefit of using the mini-GBIC combo ports (with or without buying the modules) or just to run both switches through the RV320.  I also use a 4410 WAP so my current pan is as follows:
    Port 1 of RV320 -> SG100-24#1
    Port 2 of RV320 -> SG100-24#2
    Port 3 of RV320 -> WAP4410N
    Port 4 of RV320 -> Server
I would appreciate thoughts and suggestions especially as it pertains to the Mini GBIC combo ports.

    Jason,
The only advantage you would get from using SFPs (fiber tranceivers) in the GBIC slots would be if you needed to make a run of over 100m between the switches.  Unless you have a very large property with switches at either end you are just as well to use the copper ports in the setup you described.  There is also nothing wrong with chaining the SG100s together if necessary to free up a port on the RV320.  The only other thing to consider is if you are using VLANs.  Each unmanaged SG100 will only pass a single VLAN so if you need segregated distribution coming from the RV320 you would need to put each SG100 on its own port.  Or, you could run a trunk from a port on the RV320 to your SG200 and then split off your untagged VLANs from there.  Hope this answers your question and have a nice day.

  • Daisy Chain Firewire Drives

I have a FW 800 drive connected to my Mac Mini.
I am trying to daisy chain a FW 400 drive to the FW 800 drive but the 400 drive won't mount.
I have a cable that allows me to plug the FW400 directly into the FW 800 port on the computer and it mounts fine when I do that.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

On many drives, the two FW ports are interchangeable, but that may not be the case with your drive if it actually has "IN" and "OUT" labels.
The next test I would try is connecting only the FW-800 drive to the computer, using the "OUT" port. If it fails, you won't know whether you have an intentional asymmetry or a defective port, but if it works, then you can try adding the FW-400 drive dasiychained to the "IN" port.

  • MacPro takes 1 minute+ to reconnect to LAN on wake from sleep

Hi - I am having issues with my MacPro when waking from sleep. When the machine wakes, it restarts very quickly, less than a couple of seconds. But I then get loads of error messages from open apps (mail/safari etc) that they have lost their network connection. It takes at least a minute for it to regain network connectivity.
I have other macs on the network and they reconnect immediately on wake from sleep so it can't be anything on the network itself.
The Mac pro has a mnually assigned IP address so its not waiting for ever to find the dhcp server and I have also trid connecting into a different port on the switch to make sure it is not a defective port.
Any suggestions for where I can look to resolve this?

I know for a fact, for me, that Vista and Intel Macs, and Mac Pro in particular, and from reading of the problems reported - in general on most Intel Mac owners (MacIntouch etc) that routers and modems were the cause of trouble.
    Some newer cable modems included.
In some cases firmware updates helped. Some brands seemed to be "avoid if at all possible."
Maybe it is the Intel LAN - for Windows there were a lot of updates for my Mac Pro that reduced high latency and improved things somewhat.
... but I was seeing wake from sleep problems and having to use "network diagnostic" or just power cycle the modem and switches, which did work. I have NOT had to ONCE do so SINCE investing in new modem and switch. Zilch, nada, trouble-free.
    Trial and error.
And yes, other Intel Macs are going to behave differently. They don't have the same Intel LAN chipset. Our hands are tied and I doubt Apple has done any real update.

  • MacBook Pro Late 2008 USB provides power but won't read anything?

I tried connecting my USB port to a portable harddrive and unfortunately the harddrive never pops up on my desktop, but the harddrive turns on and receives power from my USB port. I also have an external fan base that can plug into the USB port and run perfectly, but when I plug something in like a mouse receiver I don't get a response. I can't even plug my iPhone into the USB port to get a response, but if I plug any off the listed accesories into my other port they all work fine.
Is my USB port faulty somehow or is there someway I can reset the hardware to work properly?
I tried resetting my PMR by removing the battery and holding the power button but that didn't work. I also tried rebooting and holding ctrl+option+cmd and PR which also did not work and if anything messed up my Mac's booting so now i have to hold option+cmd+O+F to get my laptop to boot properly.
I figured I might as well ask as i've made my problems worse...

Yes sorry it was cmd+option+PR i forgot the specifics. I did do that previously. Everything is checked off to be shown under finder preferences. The weird thing is that the USB port provides power, but it seems like it doesn't process information if that makes sense. So on my WD passport external harddrive it powers onw hen plugged in, but never shows on the defective port. On the other USB port it works perfectly. The same goes with any USB accessory like my mouse which when plugged int he defective port doesn't do anything.
A USB sandisk thumbdrive lights up when initially plugged in, but then the light goes off after a second and the disk is never recognized. If i plug the same disk in my other USB port, the light remains on and the drive pops up on my desktop and is easily read.

  • Bt infinity has anyone else had this speed problem...

Recently noticed speed was slowing on my bt infinity checked my other pc speed was ok Swapped ports about and the slow speed stayed with the port. rebooted modem and router still the same any ideas?
Now the problem with the ipad app for file transfer this worked fine prior to updating to infinity any help would be appreciated

    Hi Brian
I'm just focusing on the HH3 internet port problem.
As you've tried swapping ports and the problem stayed at the same port, that really indicates a faulty port on the HH3.
You could try a full factory reset of the HH3 http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11386/kw/factory%20reset/c/346,1887,4020
It might be useful to run the BT speedtest http://www.speedtester.bt.com/  FTTC Diagnostic on the PC connected to the defective port and add the "After Factory Reset" results to your thread.
Assuming the Factory reset doesn't cure the problem....
Please post the checks you've done... ie swapped ports, rebooted and factory reset but port # has slow speed.
Then contact the BT forum Mods using THIS FORM requesting a replacement HomeHub3 due to defective Ethernet Port.
Don't forget to add the URL of this thread to the contact form so the mods can see the tests you've already tried yourself to cure/diagnose the problem.
The Bt mods are very helpful and will contact you. It may be 72hrs or so depending on their workload.
Or you could ring BT (150 from a BT line) and log a defective HH3 and request a replacement...... they may ask you to try another reset or port or factory reset or..... well basically go through all the checks again.
There has been a few problems with some HH3 ports especially the Gig port.

  • Safari and Entourage suddenly won't connect, or stay connected (dial-up)

Help! (Please note that this is a question about a MacBook; ignore "Powerbook G4" signature).
The Safari and Entourage applications on my new MacBook, which is on an Apple USB external dial-up modem (NOT wireless or Ethernet), have suddenly stopped connecting. Manifestations:
    (1) Safari: When Safari is opened, it connects normally via dial-up to the start page (Google), but then either won't connect to the next website or goes to a new website, then disconnects after a minute or two. The error message then appears: "You are not connected to the Internet. Safari can't open the page [website address] because your computer isn't connected."
    (2) Entourage: After this problem recurred several times, I decided to test Entourage, which had been working fine. I connected manually to the Internet, and with the connection holding, I tried to send a test message to myself. I then got the error message, "Your Mac OS Network Preferences are not configured to allow automatic connections" (they were, and anyway, the computer was already connected). The computer then disconnected and I got the message "The computer has disconnected because the other side is not responding."
I've tried the following, without success: (1) Restarting. (2) Resetting Safari. (3) When neither helped, I double-checked my network configurations, as well as my account settings in Entourage, and they all seemed okay. However, each time I typed the correct password into the network configurations box, it added about 8 additional dots as soon as I checked "Apply." (I've been told that this is a security feature, but it hasn't happened in the past.)
I then checked the settings using the Apple Network Diagnostics program that Safari offers. ND verified that the modem, modem settings, and ISP settings were okay, but that "Network Settings failed," "Internet failed," and "Server failed." Since the network settings looked right, I don't know what, if anything, this means, or whether the problem comes from something else.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone has.

Mandita 3 and Virtual Canary: Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. If you're still tuning in, in my case the problem of random disconnects on the USB external modem seems to have been resolved by simply switching USB ports on the MacBook.
I talked yesterday to an AppleCare "product specialist"--ie, a level 2 techie--whom I had requested to take me through an Archive and Install of OS 10.4.6 to downgrade from the 10.4.7 upgrade I had done, which I thought was causing the problem because the kernel panics (recorded in my computer's log) began happening right after that.
He suggested that we first try the simple expedient of switching to the other port--he said that he had had this problem several times on his own computer with other USB devices, and that had done the trick; if it didn't work, we could still do the Archive and Install, but he said that "Some USB devices just turn out to be incompatible with one or the other port; it's just quirky."
I've been testing the machine for a couple of hours and the switch seems to have taken care of the problem (to double-check, I went back to the first port once and the random disconnects after 2-5 minutes began happening again).
I've only been testing the machine for a short time, so I can't say for sure that this works. Also, even if it does work, I'm going to call my authorized repair place and ask if the "defective" port can be repaired or replaced--it was working fine for the first 6 weeks that I had the machine, so presumably the one that still works fine could develop an allergy to the external modem, too.
Hope this information is of use to you.

  • Firewire hub and iPod, external HD etc...

    Hi All,
I've got a new 1.67ghz PB. I have 3 different firewire things connected. My iPod Dock, a Porsche Lacie 160gb external HD and an old ibook. I have a cheap 6 port firewire hub connected to the PB which inturn connects the other devices... My problem is this. My iPod will always charge but wont always mount on the desktop, same with the connected ibook. Is'nt the hub just sposed to be an extension of the port? Everything I plug into the hub should work the same as if it where connected directly to the pb?
    Any help would be great

    Hi Nicholas,
I use a Belkin 6 port firewire 400 hub, as yet haven't had any problem like this on my Powerbook. Maybe connect each one in turn, make sure it mounts and unmounts OK, they try 2 and then 3 maybe it ld point to a defective port or even cable? Just an idea

  • Verizon Galaxy Nexus - Defective Charging Port

Bought my Galaxy Nexus in April of 2012, along with insurance on the phone. Love the phone and the pure Android experience. However, back in February, I woke up one morning and noticed that even though my phone was plugged in, the battery was not charging. I tried using different cords and my spare battery, neither fixed the issue, which meant that the charging port on the phone was defective. I brought it to a VZW store, and since the issue occurred within a year of purchasing the phone, they sent me a certified pre-owned galaxy nexus as a replacement (They had to send me three replacement phones total because the first two would not boot properly, but that's a different story.)
So here I am, 5 months later, and I woke up one morning and discover the same issue. Phone is plugged in (using the original charger that come with the original phone by the way), but it is not charging. Won't charge with a different cord, won't charge with a different battery, which means that the port is defective. I take the phone to the Verizon store, and am informed that A) my year-long warranty has run out, so if I want to replace the phone I will have to pay full retail price for it, and B) The default insurance plan on these phones only covers cracked screens or lost devices. The VZW support rep actually suggested that I damage the screen on the phone before sending it to the insurance company, because otherwise they would send it back and refuse to replace it.
So to recap, Verizon sold me a defective device, replaced it with another defective device, and now in order to fulfill the remaining nine months of my contract with them, I will have to purchase another device at full retail value. That's $600-$700 I'm expected to pay just to continue adhering to the terms of my contract. For now, I went on amazon and bought an external battery charger which I now have to carry with me at all times, which is an unacceptable solution for the next nine months. Surely there has to be a better option?

This is the same problem I had in the past and Samsung fixed the phone
under warranty. Since a warranty is only 1 year and not the length of the
contract it doesn't help anymore.  I do not have insurance and the phone
has never been wet.  I have to wiggle the port or reset something on the
connect to have it charge properly.  Verizon was unwilling to help me the
last time I had this issue since I purchased the phone new from Amazon.  I
would appreciate it if you could help.

I cannot connect my MacBook Air to a projector - It will not detect a 2nd monitor or display. I am using an Apple made Mini Display port to VGA adapter. As I read online I see that many other peple are having the same problem. Is this an Apple defect!!???? If so it just burst the bubble about how great macs are. I never had a problem with that on a PC. I hope I am wrong. What can you tell me?

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • ITouch not recognized on any PC anymore - Defect USB port the cause?

    Hey guys,
I'm posting here because I've been to the closest Genius Bar twice and they couldn't even tell me what was my problem. I'm kinda desperate right now...
The same problem occurred on my three iPod Touch first gen so far; for some reason they simply stop being recognized by ANY computers. I try different cables, reset, recovery mode, reinstall iTunes, restart the AMDS, update every hardware drivers of my PC... The only thing I haven't done right now is reformatting my PC, which won't happen.
I went to the Apple's Genius Bar and they couldn't find my problem; it wasn't the pins, the cable nor an application problem (I have latest firmware 2.1 by the way). So they gave me another Touch which was also defect. Yesterday, I return and they gave me a third one which worked correctly at the store and on my job's computer.
However, when I got back home I connect it on my own PC (using the same cable et setup) and for some reason, now the same problem reappeared. Doesn't matter what I try, it is not recognized anywhere anymore. When I connect it to a PC, the recharge window never shows; it continue working normally though.
As I said, I updated every hardware drivers and I'm a little tired of going to the store everyday. Could it be caused by a defect USB port? Anyone ever seen something like this?
Some help would be really appreciate.
Thanks for your time and support.
    Frank

I been having the same problem as you, except I haven't tried it in a different computer. For a while, iTunes is recognizing my iTouch as a digital canon camera. Now its not recognizing it as anything.
This problem started started when I downloaded the iTouch 2.0.2 update. When iTunes is open it asked me to update. When I click yes to update the iTunes, it only updates the safari and it won't update the iTunes. Apple support by phone was not able to help me fix this problem. The tech said that the USB port hardware needs to be updated on my computer. It took me almost 5 hours to find out this could be the solution to my problem.
Now, I'm trying to find the USB update thru Microsoft and I'm having difficult time finding this too. I had this iTouch for only 3 months and cost me almost $400 and I'm not able to use it. I have at least 14GB available in this iTouch and I don't know If I will be able to use all this space, it I dont find the solution to this problem.
If you find the solution to this problem, PLEASE reply to this post. If anyone else reading this, your answers are welcome and appreciated. If I cant find a solution to this problem, I will never buy an Apple product again.
