Deleting drivers

How do I delete old drivers? In the article in the link below, I was told delete old related drivers and install this one to be able to use the Olympus MAUSB-1 card reader. Installing the driver without removing anything didn't work.

Hardware drivers are stored in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. You should find the driver there.

  • I-001 Error while installing drivers for Titanium HD

Just bought the Titanium HD and the drivers won't install. Error I-00 and install.log looks like this:
[Common Audio Driver Interface]GUID={700932B3-A964-4878-82A2-96054622AF7}Error=I-00 Creative\ShareDLL\CADI\CTCadiEP.dll not found.
No matter what I do, I can't get around this.. None of the installed apps will open it says card not found.
I did a search on the forum and am seeing people with varying degrees of this message for the last few years. What's going on? How do you really fix this? The file exists but InstallShield is not finding it...

After about 2.5 hours of messing with it, I finally got it installed. I really wish there was an easy way to delete drivers in windows so you can start over...
    The things I tried:
    1. Extracting the web download (the disc wasn't working either, even if I copy the files to the hard dri've) to a folder, didn't work.
    2. Trying to follow Creative's instructions to find out what file wasn't copying (it's a good thing I know what I'm doing, the instructions are not accurate, or proper). The file was there, and in two spots.
    3. Extracting all the cab files and manually putting the files in place and then rebooting, then trying to run setup again. Didn't work either.
Finally, I rebooted in safe mode and looked for files/drivers that I could install. Didn't find much, but I downloaded Driver Sweeper and ran that for Creative drivers. It found quite a few files. I removed them all, rebooted, and reran setup. This time it worked!
I had a first generation Audigy Platinum. Before I removed the card, I uninstalled the drivers and software. Apparently, it didn't remove all the files it was supposed to. So Driver Sweeper took care of the left behind files.

  • Missing printer drivers - can't add new drivers

I printed without any problems yesterday. Last night, I applied the latest drivers via Software Update (a lengthy list that just came out within the last week, including 10.4.8) and now all my printer drivers are gone. I have 2 printers connected directly to the mac via USB, and one printer connected through the network. I have attempted to add the printers again, using newly download printer drivers from both Epson (for my R300) and from Primera (for my disc_publisher). When I attempt to add a printer, this error comes up: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. server-error-service-unavailable"
I have a G5 dual 2 GHz. I have attempted all the normal troubleshooting techniques (permissions, unplug power and usb, deleting drivers and re-installing, restarting mac, etc), but am now at a loss.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • New drivers made programs show chinese charact

Ok I'm getting kinda pissed here, I installed new drivers for my SB X-Fi Xtreme Music and, well, after the update was done, every textline in the default windows volume control is in chinese, and all the Creative related software is also in chinese, another problem was that my Creative Console Launcher was uninstalled, and even if I try to reinstall my default drivers with the CD that came along with my soundcard, I can't get rid of those **bleep** chinese characters..
Am I going to have to format my whole PC to get this **bleep** thing working properly or what? :S
I'm starting to think not even that will solve this problem.. >.<

Is there an update for the drivers?
When i check the driver version it seems that Windows uses the XP driver version 7.7.0.104 and is not using the Windows8 driver.
Uninstall and reinstall does not work.

Hey mate, just managed to fix this exact issue. Here is my post: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=173231.0

I recently snagged a Z77 MPower and ran into the same wireless drivers issue. The driver package they (MSI) have listed for Windows 8-64 will work. But here is what you have to do.
    1. Control Panel > Unistall a Program > Atheros Client (uninstall this)
    2. Device Manager > Network Adapters > Atheros AR9271 (right click, uninstall and delete drivers)
    3. Device Manager > Unknown Devices > Wireless Adapter (AR92) (right click, install drivers, browse to the download's file path, install, SUCCESS!)
In device manager, scan for hardware changes and you should get an unknown USB/Other Device Entry 'UB91' or some other unexplained entry which will be your WiFi module.
Right click, update driver, locate driver wherever you downloaded it, navigate to x86 (32 bit) or x64 depending on your OS. And you should have it fixed.
Take in mind i tried other fixes which may have also helped me out. It's all detailed in the thread.

  • MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Fixed!

MacBook Pro drops Wi-Fi connection after upgrading to 10.6.5. Airport says no IP is detected then suddenly reconnects?
This has been a problem I’ve been troubleshooting for the last month. I’m new to the Mac family and have loved my experience up until this point. I was under the impression that mac’s are supposed to be so user friendly that even your grandmother could use one with out having any technical knowledge. I mean I shouldn’t have to be deleting drivers or reformat my mac because of an OS update glitch? (That’s what the guy at the Genius Bar told me to do.) What I refused to succumb to was that I’m really good with computers. I get at least a phone call every other week from someone asking me for tech support. So I’d like to think that nothing I’ve done to the system would have caused this anomaly.
After numerous attempts of troubleshooting and researching forms I believe I’ve discovered a solutions that seems to be working for me.
Here are the steps I took to create a consistent connection to my Wi-Fi. I believe it was a combination of all these steps to create success.
1.) Changed my router to use G Wireless Only. (I’m assuming this removed any unnecessary frequencies to allow G to broadcast stronger?)
2.) Did a scan on the other networks in my area to find out what channel everyone else was broadcasting on. Copy and past the text below into a terminal window.
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport /usr/sbin/airport
This will allow you to simply type “airport” in the terminal window to execute the command.
    Type airport –s
This will display all the networks in your area and what channel they are broadcasting on.
3.) Changed my router to use a channel that no one in my area was using. (This helped to make my network stronger and free of interference.)
The last steps will help your home network improve but these next steps I believe helped fix any install errors caused maybe by the 10.6.5 update on my mac.
4.) Boot your Mac into safe mode by holding down the shift key while booting.
5.) Open System Preferences and Click on Network.
6.) Click the drop down menu from Locations at the top of the screen. Click edit locations..
7.) Create a new location by clicking the + and give it a new name.
8.) Delete the old location by clicking on the old locations name and click the – to remove.
    9.) Reboot
10.) Open System Preference and click on Network.
11.) Click on the settings sprocket next to the + and – and click on Set Service Order…
12.) Drag Airport to the top of the list of devices then click Ok.
Now this last step is what seemed to eliminate the issue. I hardcoded my IP address to my network. This way my computer will always use the same IP and not have to search.
13.) Click on Advanced under Network.
14.) Click on TCP/IP. Click on the drop down for Configure IPv4 and change it to Manually.
15.) Fill out the fields with your IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.1xx (x=whatever number) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.1.1 (All of these settings are pretty standard for most home networks.)
16.) Click on the drop down for Configure IPv6 and change it to Off.
17.) Next click on the DNS tab at the top.
18.) Click the + to add a DNS Record.
To find your DNS Server open a Terminal window by launching Applications --> Utilities --> Terminal
    Then Type cat /etc/resolv.conf
(There is a space between cat and /. Without it you’ll get no such file or directory.)
This should return two addresses. Your ISP’s DNS Servers.
19.) Add both records to the DNS and click Ok.
20.) Click Ok then under Network Click Ok.
    21.) Reboot router then Mac
    22.) Fixed my connection issue
The symptoms I experienced eluded me to believe that something with the DHCP is going into an idle then disconnecting. Before when DHCP was set to automatically assign the network signal would time out then searchers for a new IP resulting in Airport displaying No IP is detected. By setting my IP to a fixed address I still notice a slight drop in bandwidth at moments but because of the assigned IP I never loose connection. I can now stream video, play games, chat all without getting disconnected.
I believe this fix will work for my home network but I also noticed this issue at work so for each location that I connect for the time being I’ll create each there own location and hardcode the IP address to that network. I’ve been reading that 10.6.6 is coming soon so maybe this will be resolved for good in the next update.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any questions.
    Best of luck.

I have been having the same issue for the last two weeks. No real indication as to why it ever began other than I had turned off my router and Airport Extreme Base Station off for a weekend while I was away from my place.
iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, all have no issues at all with my Airport Extreme Base Station. Can stay connected throughout my living room, bathroom, bedroom, no issues whatsoever.
My 5 month old MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core i7 Airport is sometimes perfect, able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue. Then, for no reason, I won't be able to join my wireless network, or when I can join, I can't pick up an IP address. And then it will connect, pick up and IP, and then it won't browse. No real rhyme or reason to when this will happen, or when it works.
I thought that it was an issue with my MacBook Pro, but then my sister visited with her brand new MacBook Pro 2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo, and while a month ago she was able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue, this weekend she had all of the same issues I was having.
My XBOX 360 and MacBook Pro have absolutely no issues with the wired connection. Only my WAN seems to have this issue.
Did you ever find anything more to this?

  • How do I install the alchemy drive

I just paid 10 bucks for the alchemy drivers and got some serial number with the drivers. That is so DUMB! Anyway, there were no instructions. Just a .exe file and a serial number. They took my 10 bucks. I have vista home premium 32 bit. First (thankfully) I backed up my computer with Acronis True Image.
The next hurdle was UNINSTALLING the current creative drivers. They assured me in the very brief instructions for the original drivers to check off "delete drivers" after removing them from device manager, which I did. It said a reboot would be required - but none was.
I rebooted anyway. The first thing after the reboot, vista starts whining about drivers. It offers me options, would you like to download them are they on your system etc. etc. ad naseum. I knew I was in trouble. I entered "cancel" and stopped all the popup windows.
I then executed the .exe files with the alchemy drivers. I got to the point where it wanted that serial number. I cut and paste it and selected "next" but it said the number was invlalid what I just paid 10 bucks for these things INVALID
I then typed the looooooooonnngggg string in by hand and somehow got to the next panel. I filled out my name and address, hit next and that was it. Again no request to reboot.
So I rebooted. Guess what NO SOUND. nothing. NADA. I went into the creative directory and tried executing the exe again only to be told I didn't have the hardware on my system for the drivers. Now I have a sound blaster audigy2 ZS. Device manager shows it.
All along the way there were windows popping up from my firewall, user account control, what a freaking nightmare.
I ended up restoring my system (thank you acronis) and am back to the old drivers.
Can someone detail, step by step tell me how to put these drivers on Do I remove the old non-alchemy drivers first Do I keep them on NO INSTRUCTIONS. I HATE THAT. I'm not a swami who can guess what creative had in mind when they developed these drivers.
Please, somebody that knows what they are doing and is PATIENT, please tell me step by step - including how to enter that serial number for these drivers (when to enter it, oh yes, it asked me when I bought the drivers too - right under the serial number. it was right around midnight and I didn't know which day to use).
Please HELLPPPPP. Putting drivers on should not be this hard. If I can't get help, how do I get my 10 bucks back These alchemy drivers won't go on.......
    Thank you,
    Bob

download the newest 0006 drivers from creative. Install them first. After this, install Alchemy. U dont need to uninstall the old drivers, was completely useless :P
u only had to remove the old alchemy package, if one was already installed.
Alchemy is only an extra application, and doesnt include drivers for your soundcard.

  • Help Needed :- Upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 on W540

I have tried repeatidly to upgrade to Windows 81 from windows 8 and it fails I get the driver power state failure error and error codes 0xc1900101 0x40017 .
After 4 failures , i deleted drivers for Prinfing (pdf / printer drivers etc )  and some others i didn't note tried to do the install and it worked, except the first time i rebooted after logging in , it would not boot into windows 8,1 driver it came up with the driver error messages again and i was given the option to reset to factory defaults and i did.
After restoring to factory defaults i tried the upgrade and it failed again.
So can you help me , in how do i upgrade to 8.1

"I bought a ThinkCentre M83 which had a downgraded windows licence (windows 8.1 pro downgraded to windows 7 professional)." -
"... Now you want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 that was originally offered when you purchased the computer.  The only way that I am aware of that would be possible is to purchase a retail version of the newer operating system. "
I would say either you did not understand it well / or you gave the wrong info. If Lenovo Think(Pad/Centre) has Windows 7 Pro downgrade preload (but Win 8 / 8.1 Pro licence):
    - user gets media for Windows 8/8.1 Pro included with your Think(Pad/Centre) (I think until December)
    - or now you must order it here (free if entitled)

  • HP Envy 15-q004tx Touchpad Issues

Alright so I've been having some issues with my HP Envy 15-Q004TX and the touchpad.
I recently purchased the laptop, and it was going fine.
I decided to speed up the laptop and bought a 500GB SSD to put inside, and install windows. Altough this laptop did not come with a CD, through my University I was able to get an install of Windows 8.1 Professional free, and so I installed that.
    So what's my problem?
Well every so often the touchpad begins to spazz out. The cursor begins to jump all over the place, sometimes it will automatically open windows 8's charm bar. Sometimes it just stops working for several seconds. But worst of all, sometimes the two finger scroll will just stop working, and instead of scrolling, the cursor just moves up.
THe only way to fix it, is to go to the mouse settings in the control panel and select 'Reset Devices' and then it just works as normal. Sometimes the mouse will be find for half an hour to an hour, sometimes I will need to reset it after 5 minutes.
    What I have done.
    Reistalled Windows
    Completely uninstalled and deleted drivers
Installed new drivers from the official HP page
    Tried other versions of drivers
No matter what I do, it eventually stops working properly. This is incredibly annoying.
If I cannot fix it, I'll take it back and get another.
    Thanks very much!

I'm having the exact same issue! Nothing seems to work, HP Suggested a driver down grade, that worked for about 30 minutes.. And also to take my battery out and hold the power button to drain the laptop of static or something, niether worked for longer than an hour!

  • Photoshop CC has stopped working when launching

    Hello
So I just signed up to adobe CC, and installed Photoshop.  I signed upto the £8.75 a month deal that was on the homepage.
My problem is everytime I go to launch photoshop either in 64bit or normal I keep getting the error message " Photoshop has stoped working" at the loading screen.
I am using Windows 7 professional 64bit OS service pack 1, 6 giggs of ram, i7 cpu.  I am suing amd hd 7700 Graphics card.  I have 150 giggs free on my C drive
I have tryed deleteing all the drivers for my graphics card and wacom tablet using revo unintsaller and driver sweeper, and then reinstalling them.  Nothing seems to work.
I have tryed launching it in safe mode and clean boot, and it seems to work in those modes, but not in normal.  In clean boot mode if I stop all MS services and launch programmes it works, but there are so many MS applications how would I even know what to stop in normal mode.
This is really doing my head in, I have spent hours now reinstalling, deleting drivers, sweeping etc, and nothing.
If this cannot be sorted, is there a way to stop my subscroption I just signed up for, it is a yera long deal, and if this dosnt work, I ma basically wasting my money.
    Please help me.

So I got incontact with adobe customer chat and they couldnt help, they said it was a microsoft problem.  I contacted microsoft and spoke to the lead solutions engineer there.  He says its a preety raare and unique problem.  He couldnt even fix it after 1 hour of taking control of my desktop.  He is getting back to me tomorow after saying his going to research more into the matter.

  • No sound on my lenovo 3000 j115

Ok, so I had Vista up until yesterday when I reformatted my computer and loaded XP on it. Everything is working fine except now I have no sound. There is no volume icon in the task bar and in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" it says "No Audio Device." I have an integrated sound card but I'm not sure what it is and I have tried downloading countless drivers to get this to work. In my device manager I have PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Ethernet Controller all under "Other Devices" with no drivers to match, don't know if these would conflict with my sound. And in the device manager it shows "Legacy Drivers" under my Sound tab. I have gone through the bias and made sure my audio was enabled so that is not the issue. I called my company's tech support and they couldn't offer any help except loading Vista again which I would rather not do.  I've deleted drivers to see if the computer would automatically download the correct ones but to no avail.  Even though there is a tab for "Legacy Drivers" when I delete the drivers the tab still exists....

  • Printer installed but not responding to print jobs

I'm not quite sure how to intelligently ask this question so let me describe what happened.
I have a friend who asked for help in troubleshooting a problem with his printer.  His printer is a brand new HP Officejet 6600 sitting near his computer and is on his wifi network.  He can not print to it wirelessly from his iMac running Lion, but his wife can print wirelessly to it from another room on her iMac.  He can print using USB, though, but he prefers wireless because of the wiring situation in this room.  Plus, he bought for wireless printing.
When I got there I checked his System Preferences:Print & Fax and confirmed that his printer was installed and had the green idle light showing ready for a print job.  I tried to print and everything looked normal and showed that the job was sent to the printer and was 100% completed but the printer never responded.  I tried it from his wife's computer and confirmed that she was able to print a page with no problem.  I brought my MBP and joined his wifi network and added his printer and was also able to print.
So, I tried some basic troubleshooting steps trying to print after each one, and nothing worked.  I deleted and re-installed his printer, repaired permissions, restarted in Safe Boot, tried printing in a second user account, Reset printing system..., deleted all com.apple.print... preferences,  installed Onyx and ran the System Cleaning routines,  powered down/up the router/computer/printer, reset the wifi on the printer and rejoined his network, and probably a few other things I can't remember right now.
After doing all of this and throwing up my hands I tried to print again from my MBP to prove that I still could, and this time was not able to print.  It kept trying to send the job but the printer never responded.  His wife's iMac was still able to print, however.  This got me frustrated and I decided to ask this forum for help.
Oh, and here's some more information.  His wife has a printer next to her computer, an HP Officejet something (I forget, not 6600, though).  His iMac is able to print over wifi to this printer with no problem.  What the...?
What other things can I try? Does this point to something in the printer such as a bad wifi card, or something?  Any suggestions or ideas will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

LilyLC, hold on to your chair you will not believe what happened today.  Bear with me while I give you all the details but you will want to read the entire story.
First, to answer your question in the first paragraph of that last post, his wife's printer is connected to his wifi and is using the driver installed by Apple and has been updated on the same date as his computer that I gave earlier.  She can print to her printer and so can he.  After the troubleshooting steps I have taken and took today I agree with your assessment about an intermittent issue with the printer, too, but let me tell you what I did today.
Before going to his house I decided to set up a second wifi LAN at his house using my router to check if his Airport Extreme (I incorrectly thought initially it was an Airport Express) router was the problem.  The thinking being that I have checked his printer and computer and nothing I have tried is making a difference, so the only thing left is his router.  So, I set up my router and joined his computer, printer, and my MBP, to the wifi and tried to print from both computers.  The printer still was NOT working!  That was a big disappointment since I just knew that was going to work.  I guess that eliminates the router.  I reconfigured his computer back to his wifi and proceeded to the next step.
I hadn't installed the drivers from the website you gave me earlier since I saw in Software Updates that he had updated to that same driver set already.  Now I got to thinking that maybe those files were corrupted somehow so I downloaded the drivers from the website you gave me and installed.  Deleted drivers from Print & Scan pane and installed the newly downloaded driver, tried to print, and that failed, too.
Next I tried your suggestion of using the LPD protocol instead of the HP JetDirect and that setup failed for some reason.  I reconfigured using the HP JetDirect, and that worked for printing, as before, but the scan function was not available, as before.
I was getting a little pressed for time today and had time to try one more thing, so I decided to forgo the new Location setup until tomorrow and instead chose to plug his printer directly into the Airport Extreme via USB and see what happened.  I deleted the IP driver and clicked the + to add the installed driver and was presented with an HP Officejet 6600 on the top line and lower down under "Nearby Printers" found an HP Officejet 6600 series [XXXXXX] and under that HP Officejet 6600 Fax.
I chose the first driver and installed and tried to print and was successful.  However, the scan function was not available.  So I deleted that driver and chose the second one.  I noticed immediately that the scan function was available.  Thinking I might have something I tried to print and was unsuccessful.  Mmm...printing works with the first driver but not the second and scan works for the second but not the first.  What's with THAT?
This was really getting frustrating by this time and after much discussion with him I told him I thought the printer was the device at fault.  For some reason his printer just did not like his network.  I tried printing to his wife's computer and that worked great.  No problem there.  But for some reason his printer did not like his network and refused to work by setting up manually.
I recommended that he bring the printer back and exchange it for another printer.  He agreed and immediately boxed it up and left for the store.  I returned home to more friendlier surroundings.
Here's where it gets interesting, and it helps to know that my friend is in his mid-eighties.  About an hour later he calls and tells me he's sitting in the parking lot of Office Depot.  He tells me that when he was in the store discussing with Customer Service about an exchange it dawned on him out of the blue that he DIDN'T NEED TWO PRINTERS!!  He said that if he could print to his wife's computer today then he could print to it from now on.  I was speechless!!!  I told him I asked him at the beginning of all this why he had to have two printers, and at that time he said "trust me, we need two printers".  Ok.  He tells me he has no idea why he didn't realize that wifi worked differently than cable.  He thinks that maybe since his older two printers were each connected to his and his wife's computer these newer computers operated the same way too.  But he admits to me that he was the one who set the printers up on his wifi network, so why he didn't realize that only one printer was necessary with wifi he didn't know.  He was embarrassed.  He admitted to me that technology is very difficult for him to understand.  No kidding!!!
I didn't need to remind him how much time had been spent on this problem because he was quick to apologize and was very sorry for taking up so much of my time, and he really appreciated the effort.  I told him I didn't mind.
And I really didn't, because I learned so much from this experience by following your suggestions, LilyLC.  I never knew how to set up a printer using its IP address, and the protocols to use, and I never knew how to add new Locations in the Network pane and why it might be useful.  You also got me to considering other troubleshooting ideas I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.  So maybe my friend and I aren't that different after all.
I really appreciate all the suggestions, links, and ideas you offered during this effort, LilyLC.  I wish I could have determined the cause of the problem but, not knowing the inner workings of these devices, I can only assume that it had to have been the printer.
I bet I get a call from my friend a week from now saying that he just bought a second printer for his room because his knees can't take the walking from his room to his wife's room to get all of his printouts.  All I can say is THAT printer better work.
Thanks again, LilyLC, for all your time and help.  It was really appreciated!

  • Can't play CD/DVD's

For the last few days, for some reason my Laptop (Presario F700) just stopped loading CD's and DVD's. I've made sure it's on Autoplay but with no luck. You can hear it like as if it's scanning/loading (whatever you wanna call it) but nothing happens.
I've tried to do it manually, ie. opening WMP but it just doesn't show it. And in 'Computer' it doesn't show the DVD drive like it used to. I don't know if this is the reason?
At first I thought it might have been a virus, stopping stuff from loading as I couldn't access anti-virus sites or Microsoft, so downloaded the free Malwarebyte's and detected + removed 46 (some pretty serious) viruses. However this wasn't the case. (Site's loaded again after the scan, just thought i'd say.)
I still have it insured by Curry's, I would take it in but I would first like to see if I can get it going by myself.

Don't know whatelse to tell you tbh, driving me nuts tho lol

    Hi,
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.  Restart the PC.
When windows has fully loaded again, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
    Vista
Check if the drive will now read DVDs.
If the drive is not working, from the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.
