Deleting notes on different devices

I have an iPod Touch 4G and an iPod Touch 5G.
The apple note app on each contains some similar and some different notes.
If I delete a note on one device will it delete the note on iCloud and the other device?
If so, it there a way to have two different set of notes on icloud?
Thanks

If both devices are using the same iCloud account deleting a note from one will delete it from the other and from iCloud. It may take a little while for the "sync" to complete.

On the new Itunes can you delete songs from one device but not the other.  I do not see where it shows the device we are deleting from in the songs.

That's usually related to troubles with the Segoe_UI fonts on your system, tester. Unfortunately, dealing with the issue on a Windows 7 system is trickier than on XP or Vista. (There's a bunch of different possible issues relating to the fonts that could be in play, and so the treatment tends to depend on which issue in particular you've got with the Segoe_UI fonts.)
For discussions of various Windows 7 variations of the "Missing text" thing, and possible treatments, see the following (unfortunately, rather long) topic:

  • Syncing different notes from different devices

    Hi.
If I have work written on the Notes app on my iPad and I sync with iCloud, can anyone tell me what happens to the work made on my iPhone made with the Notes app which is different work. Does all the work get gathered together or will iCloud bias towards one or other device?
Also, which app will my iMac use to read the Notes app work on?
    Thanks for any help

    It should all be merged.
As for the iMac, there's a notes app (Mountain Lion).

  • HT4191 Syncing Notes across different devices

I seem to have separate Notes on iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro although I would love to sync them across all of these. When I try to activate the Notes facility it keeps asking me to create an iCloud account, which I already have. When I try to enter my existing iCloud account it says, unsurprisingly, that "this address is already taken"??? I'm going round in ever decreasing circles, please help. Thank you.

Hello Demo, I'm sorry if I seemed a little curt with your very welcome, helpful response. I wasn't intending to be rude.
It obviously doesn't help that I'm a moron with Apple applications as I'm relatively new having come from many years of Windows platforms.
The problem seems to lie in my having TWO iCloud email addresses: ***@iCloud.com and ***@me.com. When I first joined iCloud through 'mobile me' some time ago, I was still using a Toshiba laptop but had purchased my first Apple product, an iPhone. This required me applying for an Apple account with an iCloud.com suffix but I have NEVER used either as an email address. I still use my old hotmail.com address. I'm now thinking that it's probably best to ditch this and my iCloud.com email address and transfer everything over to my me.com email address? Is this feasible and easy to do?
I'll understand totally if you just want to go and lie down in a darkened room! :-) Many thanks, Martin

You can't delete your purchase history, you can only hide it (in iTunes on your computer).

  • What would happen if I turn off my backup and delete backup data From my device? Will it delete my music and everything for ever or just stay in the cloud but not on my device?

If you have multiple devices backing up to the Cloud, you will see all of them listed. You would click on each device to change what is backed up from that device. You can then delete your individual back-ups.
Once you have all your settings to your liking, you can then go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, and click on Back Up Now (bottom of the screen) to create a fresh backup with your new settings.

  • I bought an iPhone 4S last year. Today was the 5th time that one of my Audible books was suddenly cut off 3/4 into the book. The solutions offered to correct the problem did not work. Next phone won't be an iPhone. And books will go on different devices.

Does anybody else have problems with Audible books being cut off in mid-listening, and none of the solutions suggested comes even close to being applicable? It's my 5th time in a year. And I've had it. The interruptions and consequent time consuming attempts to find a solution, and once I do, again spending way too much time finding the place in the book, where I was so rudely interrupted have pushed my patience to the limit. I downloaded my books on different devices, and use my iPhone for calls and texting. Once it's time to get a new Smartphone I'll stay far, far away from any Apple product. I don't care to waste time to get my smartphone to do what it is supposed and offering to do. And I am really getting ****** of when I am driving in the middle of nowhere, listening to a good book and Apple decides that that would be a good time to put a stop to that. Mostly I wanted to get a response from Apple Support, and am not sure how I was channeled into an Apple Support Community (what a ridiculous term!). My problem is with Apple itself. But not for long anymore......

    Anything?

  • HT3406 when using my old iphone as a itouch how do i get itunes to recognize as a different device and not the new phone?

When using my old iphone4 as an itouch - how do i get itunes to recognize as a new and seperate device

You don't need to do anything. iTunes will automatically recognise different devices as different devices. Just plug it in.
You can rename the device by clicking the name in the side panel in iTunes for your own identification purposes, but this name does not matter to iTunes.

  • TS1702 This app will not be deleted from any iOS device that synchronizes with your iTunes library.

How do you remove an app from your iPad? I have synced the iPad and attempted to remove and this is the messgae I receive:
This app will not be deleted from any iOS device that synchronizes with your iTunes library.
HELP! Get rid of these Doodle Gods, Kick the Buddy, etc....

As Jim states, that procedure deletes the app and its associated documents from the device itself. At next sync, the deletion should propagate and get rid of the backup on iTunes as well.
If not, you can also manually delete that backup. Go into iTunes on the computer you sync the iPad with. If needed, select Show Sidebar in the View menu. Choose Apps under Library in the sidebar. Click on the All tab in the middle of the window. Scroll about till you locate the offending app amongst the bunch of icons. Right-click or Control-click on it and choose Delete from the popup menu. If the app is gone already on the device, there should be no warnings.  You should delete from the device first and sync, so this manual step becomes unnecessary.

hi my bluetooth cannot see the other bluetooth devices. When it is picked up by a different device tries to pair with it but the pairing does not occur. what can I do apart from throwing this **** thing in the bin?

It isn't supposed to pair with the MacBook.  You can use WiFi to connect but not Bluetooth.  You can setup a personal HotSpot on the iPhone and connect the MacBook, or setup the MacBook AirPort to create a network and attach the iPhone, and use the USB cable to connect the iPhone to the MacBook for syncing and backup purposes.
    The communications are rather limited.

  • HT4191 How do I get to "When prompted, select Delete Notes to remove the duplicates from the device."?  I can't get to this!

I have duplicate Notes on my iphone 4 (upgraded to iOS 5.1.1)  I have followed your instructions to remove the duplicates.  How do I get "select Detete Notes" to appear on my Mac?  I have connected my phone to my Mac and selected it in iTunes.  I clicked the Info pane and deselected the option to Sync Notes.  THEN WHAT should I do?  How do I get the prompt "Select Delete Notes to remove the duplicates from the device.  (I do want to sync them using the over-the-air feature.)

    I would try the following:
First sync your phone with iTunes to create a new backup (just in case).  When done, disconnect your phone from your computer.
Next be sure that all of your Notes are on your mac (Don't proceed any further if they aren't).  If so, turn off iCloud syncing for Notes on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and turning Notes to Off.  When prompted choose to delete the notes from your phone.
Next, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to iTunes>Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically".
Now connect your phone to your computer, click on the name of your phone when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar.
Go to the Info tab and under Other check Sync Notes, then further down under Advanced: Replace information on this iPhone, check Notes.
Click Apply at the bottom right to sync your phone.  This should sync the Notes from your mac to your phone and you should no longer have duplicate Notes.
Next, on the Info tab uncheck Sync Notes and click Apply, when prompted select to keep the Notes on your phone (haven't tested this step but I believe you will be given the option to keep them on your phone).
Now disconnect your phone from your computer and check the Notes on your phone to confirm that they are still there and that you don't have any duplicates.
Next turn on iCloud syncing on your phone again by going to Settings>iCloud and turning Notes to On.
On your computer, without connecting your phone, go back to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and uncheck "Prevent…from syncing automatically" to re-enable automatic syncing.
    That should do it.

    Remove documents from iCloud
You can remove documents stored in iCloud by deleting them from any of your devices that have iCloud set up for Documents & Data. Removing your documents from iCloud reduces the amount of iCloud storage space you’re using.
Remove iCloud documents from your iOS device
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage.
Under Documents & Data, tap the app that has a document you want to delete, then tap Edit.
Remove iCloud documents from your Mac
Open iCloud preferences, then click Manage.
Select an app on the left, then select one or more documents on the right.
Click Delete (below the list of apps).
You can also remove documents from iCloud by moving them to your Mac with OS X v10.8 or later. For instructions, use go to the Finder on your Mac, choose Help > Help Center, then search for “save documents.”

  • HT1848 I have a rented movie on my iPad... Can I transfer it back to my Library so I can put it on a different device?  I have not watched it yet and want it on my other iPad.

I have a rented movie on my iPad... Can I transfer it back to my Library so I can put it on a different device?  I have not watched it yet and want it on my other iPad.

Not if you rented and downloaded it on your iPad, you can only watch it on that - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1657 :
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
    Why it's like that I don't know

  • I had no idea my iPhone and iPad were connected and I deleted "notes" I had on phone they also were removed from iPad. Can these notes be retrieved? After this mess I will go downtown to apple store and learn how to use these devices.

I had no idea my iPhone and iPad were so connected. I deleted notes from iPhone as I had them on iPad.  Well was I surprised to see they were gone from iPad also. Can these be retrieved?

Because it says it's incompatible when it can't be, I got hope. I get error messages all the time with my iPod and iPhone that it cannot sync and that 'this device is not capapble of connecting to iTunes' stuff. I literally forget that happened, plug it in again and it works, I later realize that iTunes made a mistake, they do that.
