Deletion of partially depreciated Asset

Hello Friends,
Is it possible to delete assets which are partially depreciated and have residual life?
The reason is that it was created for a wrong Company code and now needs to be maintained for the correct Company code.
Though there might not be a standard fix, is there a better way to deal with this?
Rgds
Vijay

Hi
i believe that SAP will not allow you to delete an asset no. which some deprecation has been posted .. but if you want to fix this issue you may use T-Code ABT1N - Inter company Asset Transfer to transfer the asset with its accumulated deprecation to the right company code ..

  • How to handle a fully depreciated asset that has been brought back to life?

I have an old fully depreciated asset(from the 1990s) that has been brought back to life and has new cost to add to it.
The fixed asset master data looks like this:
    Capitalization date: 01.01.1998
    Historic APC: 0
    Acquisition value: X
    NBV: 0
    Ordinary depreciation: X
Depreciation tab - no planned depreciation(for current fiscal year).
Now I want to add the new cost Y to it. I add a subsequent acquisition but the planned depreciation (on the Depreciation tab) is not what I expect. I can't figure out how it is getting that amount. Calculation should be Y / Useful life starting 1st day of current period.
The depreciation type setup is NBV / Rem life, straight line depr, prorata temporis.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Okay, I have just realized how the system is calculating depreciation.
    useful life = 36.
There are 3 months left in the current fiscal year. Depreciation is calculated as Y / (36 -9) = one month's depreciation.
Why? Is this correct from accounting point of view? My client expects the calculation to be Y / 36 even though we are in period 10 of the current year.

  • How do you list fully Depreciated Assets in SAP?

    Hi experts:
My client has some assets that are fully depreciated in reality. The client has created a fully depreciated asset in newly configured SAP system. She wants the asset to be listed in SAP as fully depreciated and depreciation should not be recalculated again. How do I configure to achieve this?
Thanks so much for your help!
    QuinB.

Check the base method you have used in the Depr keys. Follow the below path:
IMG-> Asset Acctng ->Depreciation-> Valuation Methods-> Depreciation Key-> Calculation Methods-> Define Base Methods.
Ensure that the field "Dep.below NBValue zero" is marked No. This will restrict your system to post the Depr till it is equal to APC and not beyond that.
Please check your fully depreciated asset under AW01N, see whether the planned values is zero or not. If it is zero, then your configuration settings is correct. But still check it out and confirm yourself.

  • How to delete a partial ios software update ?

As we all know, ios 7 requires 3.1 GB free to download/ install.
after deleting tons of stuff, I made 3.2 GB free and the ios 7 download commenced OTA
as time went on, the download speed steadilly decreased so,after 1.5 hours, it was only 1/4 way downloaded and I had to go to work. as i left the house i lost wifi connection but figured it would just resume when i returned home.
Now that I am home, the download still shows that its 1/4 through, but it says that i have to make 3.1GB free! The partial download has obviously taken up space, but theres nothing left to delete-  I need everything thats left.
my question is- how do i delete this partially downloaded software update, so that 3.1GB will be free again? I have toggling airplane mode on and off again and also tried a hard reset, but the partial download still remains and is still taking up space. I looked in itunes app on the phone and checked downloads, but theres nothing there; prob because its not a music download
    thanks

I should have said that there is now 2.8GB free, so the update must be 300Mb. I dont have enough rubbish to delete in order to gain 300Mb, which is why I need to delete the partial software download

  • Deletion of Partially Converted PR

    Hi Expert,
my client requirement is PR has partially converted in PO & if next MRP run demand has been reduced while taking MRP run it need to consider these  Partially conerted PR  & if required then need to be generate PR according this or otherwise thse partially coverted PR need to be delete in MRP Run & generate new PR according to requirement.  But actually these partially converted PR has not taken in MRP run due to Firming or as a Firm PR
can you tell me procedure for this. how we should do this actvity or how we can delete these partially converted PR?
    Regards,
    Dev

    Hi Dev,
In OPPQ for your plant click the rescheduling icon, here you select Fixed Purchase Requisition & select a suitable rescheduling horizon (working days) as per your business need.
Now when there is a partially converted PR, during MRP run system first checks if there is a firmed PR, & it then puts out a proposal to reschedule out / in this partially converted PR to meet the demand.
Alternatively you can untick the fixed indicator in the PR or flag the PR as closed & run MRP with planning mode as 3, system will propose a new PR to meet the need.
    Hope the above helps.

  • Partial fixed asset transfers

    Hi Experts,
In partial fixed asset transfers, why do we need to indicate whether it is a prior-year acquisition or current year acquisition? Why cannot the system pick this information?
Really appreciate your insight in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    Em Jay

    Hi Alex,
Thanks for your reply. But I need more clarification, here the assets need to have new cost centers updated in their master data.
Will ABUMN help in this case? I mean this is master data change in assets so how can we change it by transfer?
    Thanks

  • Freeze the partial depreciation for asset

    Dear Expert,
We have special scenario for asset depreciation. In China, the assetu2019s retirement need waiting for government inspection & approval. The requester to do the physical scrap when we got the approval, and then the asset accountant will retire this asset in SAP system.
In the period of waiting of approval, the asset needs to stop the depreciation. We can shutdown or change depky 0000 for depreciation freeze, but these methods will freeze all NBV which mean the entire asset has not depreciation, but we think freeze the partial NBV and the remainder NBV still has depreciation in future.
    For example,
    Asset A - 01/31/2009     GAV  $100   AD $50     NBV $50
This asset needs the partial scrap for $20 on 02/01/2009.
    Asset A - 02/01/2009     GAV $100   AD $50     NBV $30 * 20$ will be froze.
Just need to your help,  What method can carry out this result in SAP?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can use the cutoff value key and assign it in the depreciation key and in turn assign it in asset master,in your case the cutofff key would be defined as 20%. (if you want you can create a new dep key and assign it to the specific asset)
doing this will make sure that after NBV of the asset is $20, depreciation will not be carried out.
    hope this clarifies youe query.
    Regards,
    J

  • Asset partially depreciation

    Hi SAP Gurus,
I have some difficulties in cancelling the fixed asset, in fact when I am doing, I would like to have the quote of depreciation up to the 30.10.2009 but when I am trying to do so, I get the quote of depreciation up to the 31.12.2009.
Could anyone explain to me in details, how can I do the depreciatrion up to the 20.10.2009?
    Many thanks and regards,
    Antonino

    Hi,
In Transaction AFAMA  select the Key you are using  and then look at the period control method.
Check what is set for Ret  (Retirement). It should be 11 for your retirement to have Depr.in the month of retirement.
    Kind regards

  • Updating fully depreciated assets during creation of subsequent depreciation area

I am subsequently adding multiple depreciation areas in SAP. The system has been live for many years with a legacy system handling the depreciation for the tax books via dual maintenance.  I have been able to bring in the new areas via AFBN without issue except for one thing.  Many of these assets are fully depreciated in Book01 in SAP but they have remaining tax life. The problem is when the asset is fully depreciated and I assign it cost or try to make a change in the depreciation area tab it automatically fully depreciates those values.
Has anyone ran into this before? What options are there to provide a solution?
To recap; Want to add tax book values to assets already live in SAP. Issue is assets already fully depreciated. Any adjustment to keys and UL on them results in a calculation but regardless it fully depreciates whatever that amount will be.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
I suppose, there are some settings somewhere, which do not allow the asset to have values.
    Presumption:
    1) AFAMA - Base method -Treatment of end of life: In the depreciation key: there is not "dep. after pland. life end"  allowed
    2) In OADB there are wrong settings (perhaps no positive acquisition values allowed)
    3) Perhaps this is constitutional area and in OADB there is rule for the derived area which is broken.
    Best regards Bernhard

  • Logical delete flag in fixed assets extract

I have to create a flat file of Fixed Assets data. I am asked to put the 'Logical Delete Flag' in it. My data will be based on the t.code AR01(report RABEST_ALV01). It uses the logical database ADA. My question is where can i find the logical delete flag and what does this field exactly mean?
    Plz reply soon

I m closing this thread as I found the answer to it. An asset is never physically deleted in the system. But it can be marked for deletion(logical deletion).

  • How to extend the life of a fully depreciated asset?

    Dear all,
Can anyone help? Is it possible to extend the life of an asset that was fully depreciated in Dec 2010? If no, is there any workaround you can recommend?
    Thank you.

You can change it manually in the asset master. This will update the Depreciation calculation for the next Posting Run according to the Depreciation Key defined in the Asset master
    Hope this helps

  • Adding an already depreciated asset in Fixed Assets module from a manual sy

Guys can someone help me how i can be able to show depreciation for assets that have already depreciated in a manual system.
When am adding assets in the EBS FA module, the module is considering the assets as new and the prorate is depreciating the assets after 6 months as an accounting principle offcourse this is true for new assets.
But in my case the assets are old in my organization, I would like to enter the accumulated depreciation for these assets and there original cost.
Please help me to convince my managers as am the one who recommended for the Oracle EBS Project in my organization.

  • Depreciating assets as on particular date

    Hello All
We have some assets whose depreciation method has to be changed in such a way that these assets fully depreciate by 31-Dec-2008 irrespective of their date placed in service.
Currently these assets have been assigned SLM of 25%.
    How do I do so?
    Regards
    Rohan

    Rohan,
Although the requirement sounds simple, it is infact quite a complicated requirement.
The first question that I would ask is, what is the volume of assets that you need to make this update for? If you are looking at a high volume of assets your requirement cannot be achieved without customization.
If you are looking at a low volume then each asset would require having it's life adjusted, so that it meets the 31st December 2008 full depreciation that you require. This can be done either via the Books form or the Mass Changes Form (The latter can be used if the selection criteria can be used to identify assets of interest, without affecting assets that should not be changed.)
The other problem that you face is how to deal with depreciation adjustment that will occur when the life is adjusted. The prudent measure would be to expense it in the period that it is realized, however as this will result in a one-off hit to the P&L not many folk would like to take that step.
The alternative would be amortize the resulting adjustment between the current date and the required end date.
