Delta failure

HI all,
When Delta load occures from DSO to CUBE load was failed.In this issue we need  to make the request  to Red and delete the request from the cube. Then need to delete the Datamart status in the DSO.
My Question is, why we need to make the request red  and delete first and then go for Datamart Staus.What happen if we do viceversa.
Can any one give suitable answer.

Hi Pranav,
The reason why we turn the bad request red and then delete the request prior to the deletion of data mart is as follows:
1) If we turn the request red then we are sending the message to the source system that the last delta was not correct and the records need to be extracted again.
2) The delta queue keeps the last delta records only till the next delta run goes green.
If we don't turn the request red and in case of a green request being deleted accidentally or due to some other reason, then we stand a chance of data loss from the source system. Hence as a precaution we always turn a request that needs to be re extracted to red and then delete the request.
We cannot delete the data mart status if the request still exists in the data target(s). The system will not allow you to delete the data mart directly, it will say data already exists in the target(s).
Hope this clarifies your doubts related to deltas.

  • DSO to Cube Delta Failure

    Hi All
    We appear to have a major problem.
    Yesterday the invoice delta from DSO to Cube failed. My colleage traced the problem to invalid characters in the PSA. However it had loaded successfully into the DSO (I dont know why cos it usually fails into DSO if invalid chars are present).
    So we deleted that request from the DSO (even though it was green), fixed the invalid chars in PSA and then manually updated from PSA to DSO. Fine all went well so far.
    Then we ran the delta load from DSO (datamart) for cube but this came back with error saying 'Previous delta has not finished so cannot proceed' All monitors were RED status but still no good. So we left it thinking that todays process chain run would fix it.
    But it didnt. The error today is 'Delta update for ZINV_CUBE is invalidated. Message no. RSBM113'
    The data in the DSO is all correct and upto date. However the datamart status for all requests (going back to Nov 2007) is missing. In the infosource view the outgoing request (REQU_) for Yesterday is missing and todays REQU has red status. Yesterdays incoming request (ODSR_*) is followed by todays incoming request.
    From reading previous posts I think I need to do initialise without data transfer, but will that leave the cube with 2 missing requests (today and yesterday). How do I get them into the cube ?
    I could delete the cube contents and perform init with data but I dont feel comfortable as it involves nearly 2 years worth of data. Also will all DSO requests get rolled up into a single cube request ?

    Hi,
    Hope so the requests for today and yesterday is there in PSA....
    Now change the RED status of the failed requests in DSO and cube manually to RED i.e QM status...here only u have faced the issue that previous delta was not yet finished...
    U can chk in SM12 for any locks present....
    Now u can delete the requests in cube(this will delete the data mart status from ODS) followed by DSO...
    Now first u load the data to the ODS manually, activate the ODS and then uplaod it to cube manually thru additional function->update data to targets->Delta update and continue...this'll load the complete data for the two days...
    No need to perform INIT if the data is presetn in PSA....

    we load the master data from the source system to bw and it successfully updated but fetching 0 data. but in R/3 side in rsa3 it is showing approx. 9000 records in datasource. I m looking for help immediately.

    Check the extraction mode of IP. Whether it is delta or full.
    IF it is delta then it will pick only changed or new records. May there are no changes to your master data since your last delta run.
    check the extraction mode in Processing tab of IP

    I have a doubt here on infospokes.
    1] Is there any possibility to recover delta if it fails in Infospoke Extraction.? if Yes then please tell me how to recover for the infospoke. I know this is different compared to the data load delta. But this is the first time that I'm working on the Infospokes. So Please guide me on this.
    2] I have a delta Infospoke with the selections on CALDAY(from 2006 to 99) and Company Codes. So initially we wil be taking full load and then after converting this infospoke to Delta in Delta Admin, then Delta will be taken care for the future. But I here I wud like to know will the delta will work for those selecions only? I mean.. Delta will pick the new or changes records for those selctions only or this selection is only for Full update.? I got confused over here. Please guide me,

    Hi,
    When you have keyfigures on the cube , based on which if you are doing calculations during run time, If one of the key figure value is "0" and it's calculation leads to infinite, then you will find this arthimatical errors during the loadings.
    Please check for any calculations are coded in Start, End & field routine.
    Try to put use code
    if denominator = 0 then result = 0 or some conatnt etc, depending on ur scenario.

    I have a delta request that Failed, Do i need to change the QM setting before i can reload it from psa?

    Hi,
    For delta failures, first you need to change the QM status to RED.
    Then delete the request from data targets.
    Go for repeating Delta by scheduling the infopak/repeat in process chain.
    It asks for repeat of last delta. click on yes.
    Now the repeat Delta upload will work fine.

  • Init with out data transfer and DELTAS

    Dear Gurus,
    I created Generic data source using Function module on FAGLFLEXT table. Here i used TimeStamp for capturing DELTAS. In the first run while loading into PSA i selected INIT WITH DATA TRANSFER then it got failed. Again i deleted INIT Request in Schedular and RUN INIT WITH OUT DATA TRANSFER then it got Sucess. Again i run Delta then it also it got failed. Again i deleted the INIT Request and out FULL LOAD. IT got success. May i know why MY Deltas are getting Failed.even in R/3 side when i checked in RSA7 then in status column and in Current Status Tab it showing time stamp field like this . . : :.
    I got Stuck up I dont know what to do............
    Can one kindly give solution for this.

    Debug your generic DataSource, using RSA3, to determine why the delta failures are occurring. It's most likely in the delta logic portion of your custom Function Module.

  • Unable to change the data in PSA

    Hello All,
    I have a delta failure because of invalid characters in one of the field and now i wanted to change the PSA. I have deleted the request from all data targets and started changing the error record, it is not showing all columns from PSA hence i am unable to change the data in required field.
    Could you please let me know how will i see all columns from PSA. Thanks

    Hi Ashok,
    To increase/decrease the number of columns that are displayed on the menu from the Settings option select Change display variants
    Also if you want to see say all the failed records you can sort the order of the data using the Status column

  • Error handling in process chain-doubts

    Hi ,
    I have some doubts in error handling of process chains.
    1) I have  aprocess load infopackeage and subsequent process is update fromPSA.
    process load infopackage got failed  , so i loaded  the IP manually and repeated the next i.e process update from PSA .
    How to correct the process chain from now?
    2) I have  aprocess load infopackeage and subsequent process is Delete request in infocube .process load infopackage got failed  , so i loaded  the IP manually and repeated the next process i.e Delete request in infocube. Chain continued by deleting the right request . How this is possible ?
    Plz  help me  as this is urgent and daily i have to deal with this  issues. If any documents on error handling is greatly appreciated.

    If you are asking abt the flags that you see in RSA1 -> Tools -> BW Stats...you can check BW Stats for each and every infoprovider. Whenever you create an infopprovider you should always decide whether you want to turn on the BW Stats for this infoprovider. This is a manual step and can be done in each and every box individually or can be transported across the systems. Coming to your question...BW Stats are of two kinds...
    1) OLAP -
    If you check this flag for an infoprovider...all the statistical data for the queries built on this infoprovider gets updated into the corresponding infocubes (0BWTC_C02 and 0BWTC_C03). An example would be like number of users that ran the report in a given time, the average run time of the query and so on. This data is of immense value in deciding the steps for performance tuning techniques like aggregates!
    2) WHM (Warehouse Management) -
    If you turn this flag on for an infoprovider, all the statistical data like how often the cubes are loaded, when are the requests deleted from the infocubes, data abt condensing of cubes and so on is loaded into the corresponding cubes like 0BWTC_C04, 0BWTC_C05, 0BWTC_C09 and 0BWTC_C11.
    You have to activate the infopackages to load into these cubes and schedule them through process chain to run once in a while so that your statistical data is uptodate.
