Deploy and install MIDlet

Hi
To clarify – I’m looking into the steps needed in order to install a java application I have created onto a mobile device and then run it as I would any other application on the device. (The mobile device is J2ME enabled).
I’ve read through many of the threads on this subject and have to say that I’m not entirely clear on this. I’ve also read through the article ‘Deploying Wireless Java Applications’ by Qusay H. Mahmoud and it clarified things a little.
The article explains how to install (using a Java Application Loader) an application, that has been previously downloaded and stored to your desktop, onto the mobile device. The article also mentions the OTA (Over The Air) method of installing applications without needing to connect to a desktop, this method uses the Java Application Manager.
So, both methods need an ‘interface’ to facilitate downloading and installation – either JAL or JAM.
Both need to read the jad file before the jar can be installed.
The article was written in 2002 and I’m wondering if the increase in memory capacity in many mobile devices has left it a little out of date.
I have a question that I would appreciate any responses to:
I’m wondering if current mobile devices needs only to download the jar and jad files for an application to be ‘good to go’ i.e. by running a web browser on the mobile device and simply downloading both files in the same manner as you would any other file? The device itself would simply read the jad and install the application automatically.
If my understanding is incorrect please feel free to correct it.
Thanks in advance

    hi
can any one tell me wat is the diff b/w deployment and instalation. we always deploy j2ee app we dont install them. and we dont deploy .net applications we just run them..???
CAN ANY ONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME EXAMPLE OF USING JAVA MESSAGEING SERVICES IN J2EE i mean in wat conditions its used...
and if any one can then please give me any link about it as well.

Something to do with virtual and actual. J2EE apps are deployed because they run in a virtual server and run within a container created by another application (i.e. Application Server like JBOSS, SJAS, Pramati) while installed applications interact with their hosts without the need of a virtual intermediary like you install JBOSS and J2SDK but deploy S2EE apps to run on JBOSS.
    Hope this helps!!!

It gets an error stating "retrieving iOS info from apple" then it stops and says "internet error". My Internet connection is fine with the Mac-book. It shows the iPad is listed under the Prepare logo up top as 1 but under supervise none are shown. Although it does show itself in iTunes. Also the profile I created is fresh and has no errors. We have tryed nearly everything I cna think of and online forums are not giving us to much info on this error.

A wag at this.  A port issue?

  • SCOM 2012 R2 Agent Deployment - Uninstall Old and Install New

By chance anyone come up with a scripted method for removing an existing SCOM 2012 SP1 agent and installing a new 2012 R2 agent? While I've come across a few scripts I'm trying to kill a few birds with one stone. This is a cross-domain attempt where the
SCOM servers sit in one domain and the member servers are scattered across multiple domains. Member servers range from Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012. In most cases the servers have the 2012 SP1 agent installed and in some cases there are multiple management
groups from previous SCOM standups. In addition there's a separate DEV SCOM 2012 R2 environment to manage DEV/QA servers. Active Directory Integration is configured and I have the necessary security groups created. There is a group policy created which is
filtered to just that security group. So the plan is to simply drop the servers into the correct group and have the agent installed via group policy start up script. ADI should have DEV servers appear in DEV SCOM and PROD in PROD SCOM.
Although there are ways to facilitate agent deployment via the console I need to perform a staged migration against a ton of server so as to not impact the existing production environment. So I'd rather do this remotely to pre-selected servers. This process
should involve removing the existing agent, installing the new one, and if possible removing any existing management groups. So far I've come up with the following:
    Uninstall SCOM Agent:
    %WinDir%\System32\msiexec.exe /x <path>\MOMAgent.msi /qb
    Install SCOM Agent:
    msiexec.exe /i \\path\Directory\MOMAgent.msi /qn /l*v \logs\MOMAgent_install.log USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=0 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=<MG_Name> MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=<MSDNSName> ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 ACTIONSUSER=<AccountUser> ACTIONSDOMAIN=<AccountDomain>
    ACTIONSPASSWORD=<AccountPassword>
    Remove Management Group via Script
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Remove-a-Management-group-336c849a/view/Discussions#content
I'm guessing this wheel has already been invented or maybe there's a better way. So I'm open to ideas or suggestions.
    Any responses appreciated.

Wow! 4 days and no responses, not good Microsoft SCOM Community. So here's a status on this issue.
As stated I have Active Directory Integration configured which means:
I see the OperationsManager container in AD: dev_scom
I see the HealthService SCP and separate OU's for each of my management servers.
I have an ADI security group containing my management servers and scom action account.
I have an Agent security group which will contain servers the scom agent will be deployed via group policy.
I also have an AD LDAP query set to target the SCOM agent group.
    (&(objectCategory=group)(name=DSCOM_ADI))
I finally get the script to install via the following steps:
    Reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754995.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770556.aspx
    http://blog.coretech.dk/msk/install-a-scom-2012-agent-silent/
    1. Launch Notepad ++ and enter the following:
    msiexec /i
    \\server.yourdomain.com\opsmgragent\%Processor_Architecture%\MOMAgent.msi USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=1 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=DEV_SCOM MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=YourSCOMsrvr1.yourdomain.com ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 USE_MANUALLY_SPECIFIED_SETTINGS=0 ACTIONSUSER=svc_dscom
    ACTIONSDOMAIN=yourdomain ACTIONSPASSWORD=YourPassword! AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement=1 /qn /l*v c:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
    2. Save the script to a name of your choice. For me it's installdopsmgragent.cmd. Watch the extensions as you may end up saving it as installdopsmgragent.cmd.txt.
Note: Make note of this steps in the reference articles listed above:
"In the Add a Script dialog box, do the following:
In the Script Name box, type the path to the script, or click Browse to search for the script file in the Netlogon shared folder on the domain controller."
It's been a while since having to use a startup script so it took me a minute to figure this out. "getting too old 'fer this..."
    3. Copy the script to the Netlogon folder which is located in the following directory on my Windows 2012 server: E:\SYSVOL\sysvol\yourdomain.com\scripts
    4. Launch the group policy management console, create a new policy, edit it, and navigate to the following location:
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)
    5. Double-click Startup to open the Startup Properties window.
    6. Click Add and browse to the location of the script which you copied to the Netlogon share.
    7. Click OK to close the Startup Properties window.
    8. Close the Group Policy Management Editor.
    9. Link the policy to an OU containing the servers.
    10. Add the SCOM Agent group to the Security Filtering area of the group policy. I also remove Authenticated Users.
Note: make sure you have a few test servers in your Agent security group.
    11. Drop to a command line and run gpupdate /force. You can also use gpupdate /force /sync but you will have to reboot the box you're running this from.
    12. Log into one of the servers you have slated to deploy the agent to, drop to a command line, and run the same gpupdate command.
    13. Follow this with a gpresult /r command to ensure that you see the policy applied in the Computer Settings area.
    14. Reboot the server and you should see the startup script run.
    15. Log into the server and launch the Control Panel.
    16. If all went well you'll see the "Microsoft Monitoring Agent" icon.
    17. Launch Event Viewer, navigate to the Operations Manager events node located under Applications and Services Logs and validate the logs.
    17. If all didn't go well check the error log located, for me, on the C:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
My issue: I don't see the management info in the Agent properties.
I installed this last night and waited until the next day still no changes. Event logs show the following:
Event ID: 2011 The Health Service did not find any policy in Active Directory
Event ID: 2003 No management groups were started.  This may either be because no management groups are currently configured or a configured management group failed to start.  The Health Service will wait for policy from Active Directory configuring
    a management group to run.
I see the HealthService is Running in Task Manager on this server and of course I don't see anything listed in the Management Groups registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\
I don't want to manually add the management group info. Checking as I may have missed something in one of the switches.
    Any responses appreciated.

  • Difference between Installing an application and Deploying and application

What is the Difference between Installing an application and Deploying and application from the console?
When deploying and app from console - > Click on deployments -> Install -> choose app path, next, next,.. Finish.
Then it will be in prepared state. Once you activate changes, the app deployed will be in activate state. Some times even if you activate changes, it will be in prepared state. then you need to start the app which then comes to activate state.
From above, which part is called Installing an app? Which part is called deploying an app?
Or Are Install and Deploy both mean same?
    Edited by: user734247 on Apr 26, 2012 3:16 PM

Installation is generally referred to making an application's physical file or directory known/accessible to WebLogic Server by configuring through the "New" option in the "Deployments" screen and targeting the servers. Installation of an application will put the status of the application in "prepared" state.
Start is the next action expected so that the application's state transforms into "ACTIVE" by initializing the application and loading the necessary classes and creating the necessary objects to run the application.
The above two steps together are referred to as "Deployment of an application"
Bottomline: In short, "Deploying an application" includes "Installation of the application" AND "Activation/Start of the application"

    STEP-1
Create the package - In the J2ME Wireless Toolkit Menu Select "Project"-"Package"-"Create Package". It creates jar and jad file in the bin directory.
    STEP-2
Converting this file from m/c to device : There are many tools to transfer your midlet suites to your device. for example MIDWay Tool
The MIDWay tool allows you to download MIDlet suites to your developer-enabled device via SERIAL CABLE. Please note this is a preview of the tool included in the upcoming Motorola SDK for J2ME v3.1. The MIDWay v2.6 preview only supports the following devices : V60i, V66i, T280i, T720, T720i, A830

In order to find the PerformanceMonitor web app, the ConsoleExt needs to
examine your classpath to get the appropriate WLHOME. It does this by
searching for .../server/lib/weblogic.jar. Please make sure your CLASSPATH
is correct and matches where PerformanceMonitor is installed. For example,
the path to .../server/lib/weblogic.jar is the same as to ../common/perf. In
my world, they both happen to be d:\bea\weblogic81.

  • Error executing the Query after deploying and executing the application in WLS 6.1 SP3

    Hi,
We are trying to run a application by deploying a war file on Web Logic Server
6.1 SP3. After deploying and at the time of execution of the application, the
server console displays this error message
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ttcgcshnd-1],
    [0], [], [], [], [], [], []
While debugging thru the application we found that this error comes at the time
of execution of the query thru the Statement.executeQuery method of java.sql.Statement
    class.
This same application when deployed on Web Logic Server 8.1 runs perfectly, without
    any hitches.
Please, provide me the solution to this asap.

Look for sometime around November. No exact date.

    and 7.0(SP2).
The problem with Apache 2 is that when a new release comes out a newmodule

I'm trying to set this up (initially just apache in front of a single
    WLS
server but ultimately I want to put it in front of a cluster).
    I've installed Apache 2.0.40.
I've copied the mod_wl_20.so file into the apache modules folder.
I've edited the httpd.conf file and added the line:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
When I run apache -t to check the configuration I get the following:
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -t
Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files/Apache
    Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.sointo

    So what's going on here?
Looking at previous postings it sounds like there's an issue with
    versions
of apache after 2.0.39 but I can't find a download for that version. Also,
it sounded like the issues were for WLS 7, not 6.1. Can this work
    with
2.0.40 or am I wasting my time?
If I get the mod_wl_20.so from dev2dev I get the "incompatible plugin"
message that has been mentioned in this group already.
    Any suggestions appreciated,

  • Commands to copy apps to local drive from networkshare and installing via unattend install

    Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of deploying and testing Windows 8.1 with different settings via unattended answer file. I would like to test out with another settings during unattended install but I'm having a hard time to implement it. Here is the scenario, I've a
server named WDS-DEP-SERV with a hard drive portioned into 2. One is C and other is E. On my E drive, I've a bunch of .exe apps saved. I would like my unattended answer file to pull those .exe apps over to the local drive from network share and install them
as the unattended install takes place. I'm looking for a command that can help me achieve it in a silent mode. During testing before, I was able to have my unattended file to pull VMware tools drivers from network share under RunSynchronousCommand parameter
with domain credentials of the network share and it installed successfully. For example, like this below.
    \\WDS-DEP-SERV\E\Distribution\Drivers\setup64.exe /s /v "/qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress" /l C:\Windows\Temp\vmware_tools_install.log
I was searching online and came across a lot of things but none answered what I'm looking for. Can someone please reply back with the answers on how can I implement it in my unattended file.
    1) To be able to have unattended file pulling drivers from network share, copy them over to local drive during unattended installation process and execute them silently. I need a command to pull this off.
    2) What pass should I use in unattended file?
    3) So far, I've used RunSynchronouscommand  under Windows Deployement Neutral during "Specialize" pass to install just VMware tools. Is there a way to execute all apps in one go instead of doing it one at a time via Synchronouscommand? Please
correct me if I'm wrong, Is it true every time you use Synchronouscommands for various different apps or scripts to pull from network share, you'll have to use network credentials under each and every Synchronouscommands section. Like, if I add 4 SyncrhonousCommands
to the unattended file to pull 4 different apps or scripts from network share, I must provide network share credentials for each of those. Can it be just one time network share credentials under those and they all get pulled and executed during unattended
    install?
Again, please if someone can get back to help me out. I would really appreciate it. Hope to hear from someone soon. Below is my unattended answer file in case someone would like to see it to understand better.

  • Windows 8.1 Deploy and Capture stops with no error

I have a standard deploy and capture TS for Windows 8.1 using the volume media 'install.wim' file.
The only modification I have made is to add a few applications into the TS.
Once started from WinPE, the TS goes smoothly, deploying the OS and the applications. It then restarts and just goes to the login prompt. The TS doesn't continue as expected, rebooting to WinPE and running the capture.
I've checked the smsts.log file and I cant see any obvious errors or anything that could cause this behaviour. The only warning I can see is 'Active reqeust handle is empty, registering with new active request handle' though I'm not sure if this is even
    related.
So the process I see is:
    Boot to PXE WinPE
Select build and capture TS for windows 8.1
    Install OS
    Install Apps
    Restart
    Login screen
    Anyone have any ideas?
    SCCM 2012 R2
    Windows 8.1 Professional

    Found the solution.
Was due to one of the apps I was installing requiring .NET 3.5.

  • Unable to scan and install windows updates on Win 2008 R2 server

I've encountered some of my win 2008 servers are unable to scan and receive windows updates from SCCM 2012. Browse through the logs and found some error code related to
0x80244023. Excerpt from the WindowsUpdate and WUAHandler is as below. Searched the net and found some workaround which is to rename the registry key
WinHTTPSettings to WinHTTPSettingsx (by adding x at the end of the string)
    under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Internet Settings -> Connections.
I've did just that on the effected servers and after running again the Software Update Scan Cycle action, it is now able to scan and install the updates. My questions is, based on you guys experience, is there any repercussion (apart from enable to install
software updates) that I could encounter in changing the registry key value WinHTTPSettings?

    Hi
If SCCM is setup correctly and your boundaries are correct then once you deploy updates the agents will pick them up.
Also make sure you SUP role has the FQDN set. Lastly if you are using port 8530 make sure it is open.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

    Hi Jerry,
I agree with Nikhil, I think you have posted partial ULS log, we could not find effective errors for the issue.
For Provider Hosted app in SharePoint server on-premise,
the TokenHelper class will try to access your Azure Security Principle by default.
Did you have a valid Azure account?
If not, the issue may be caused that you don't have a valid account, to resolve this issue, you can use
a valid Azure account or not going to use Azure Platform for hosting the app as the article
    below.

    Thanks Fei for your time.
    >>>I would suggest that you create a new project and set it start action with 'Internet Explorer'
to see whether this issue could be reproduced.  If no, we can compare the difference between the two menifest files.
As per your suggestion above ,With new project,I can debug with with start action "Internet Explorer" and I
could not see much difference between the manifest files.
Please find below my manifest file for the reference .
