Deploy forms6i on oas4

I have installed forms6i, oracle 8i, Oracle Application Server 4.0.8 on Windows NT.
Let me know the steps involved in deploying the forms application thru Oracle Application Server 4.0.8
Thanks

Hi
Greetings!
I have the same setup. It involves many steps. To highlight,
1. You will have to first create listeners in ur OAS
2. Map virtual paths for your application directories in that listener
3. Configure ur baseHTML file (Sample available under /forms60/java/oracle directory)
4. If u r using ICONS in ur forms, use GIF equivalents instead. You can either use the GIFs given by oracle or create ur own. The names of the GIFs should match the name of the ICONs
5. Set the "defaulticonpath" variable to virtual directory pointing to the GIF icons. This is to be set in the "registry.dat" file found in /forms60/java/oracle/forms/registry directory.
You'll find details in the document provided in your ORACLE_HOME or in
http://otn.oracle.com/doc/appsrvr4082/installation/inst_nt.pdf document.
Hope this works or pls mail me & I'll help u out
Bye

Can someone give me a clue as to how to deploy forms6i on web.
Any links which you can direct me to ?
Thanks in advance.
Shailender

I'd recommend doing two things:
1) From the Start menu go to the Oracle Forms Developer Release 6i Manuals and read the manual on "Deploying Forms applications to the web with Forms server"
2) On OTN read the various papers on internet deployment at
http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/techlisting.html
particularly have a look at "Oracle9iAS Forms Services Release 6i Patch 10" (which applies to patch 10 and above) which describes how to use the Forms Listener Servlet which is the simplest way to set up your Web deployments.

• Focus lost moving from one form to another in web deployed forms6i

I have developed an application using forms6i rel 2
The forms server is installed on windows 2000 and all necessary set up is done on the forms server. Patch 18 is also applied.
On the client side I am using IE 6 and JRE Java 2 Ver 1.5.0_9-b03
Everything works fine. But when I navigate from one form to another, the cursor focus is lost. This also happens when I navigate from one block to another block within the same form.
In such situation when I press Windows button on the key board twice, the cursor reappears. It seems the problem is because the applet window where the forms is running is not refreshed while navigating to different forms.
Can anybody guide me to solve this problem.
Thanks
Kamlesh

Hi,
I also have same problem ´but with forms 10g.
If i set SeprateFrame=True then it works fine. but if applet is inside ie window and i move from this IE window to any other window and come back then focus is set to first menu item.
whenever user comes back to forms apps, has to click somewhere in applet to activate it, this is so irritating.
Seems that even oracle does not have any workaround for this, same thing happens on forms demo which is provided by oracle.

• Urgent,Can i deploy Forms6i application on Oracle 9i AS R2 ?

I installed Oracle9i infrastrucure Release 2, Bussiness Intelligance and Forms in another home on the same machine.
Can i deploy my appliction made by forms 6i using this release or i must migrate it to Forms9i DS firstly ?

Yasser,
We had to recompile our 6i forms with 9ids to have them work under 9ias rel2. That was all that was required (assuming your forms and reports directory structure remains the same - if not, you will have to change path statements in your forms before the recompile).

Your forms won't need anything to run on the web. I suggest you refer to the "Guidelines for Web Deployment" document which you can find by searching Form builder Help for Guidelines or navigating tools\doc60\guide60 folder. Best of Luck

• How to deploy forms 6i on Oracle 9iAS

Hello,
Anybody knows hot to deploy forms 6i on Oracle 9iAS (WEB).
Oracle 9i Application contains several options
1. Oracle9iAS installation.
1.1 J2EE and Web Cache.
1.2 Portal and Wireless.
1.3 Business Intelligence and Forms.
2. Oracle9iAS Infrastructure installation.
3. Oracle9iAS Developer Kits installation.
I want to know , Which option should i select in order to deploy the forms on web.
Thank You.
Rahul

I'm not sure if you can deploy Forms6i on 9iAS. Anyway, this is not the right forum for this question. Please repost your question in the 9iAS General forum or in one of the Forms-related iDS forums.

• Forms disconnection to Server

I am started to deploy forms6i on the web via http://webserver:port/dev60cgi/f60cgi
1) Every so often, our users get the message:
FRM-92100: Your connection to the server was interrupted. This may be a result of a network error, or a failure on the server. You will need to reestablish the session.
We did not have any problems with the server and do not know which failure there was on the server. I do not know how to solve this problem and it is causing much disruptions as our users have to reload the programs(together wt all the time it takes to load JAR files).
2) When we do an update of a particular form, then we have all sorts of problems with users who are currently using logged on the same form. Is the form being cached on the webserver? How can we flush the cache and make sure the users reload the new form?

We are going to try upgrading the JVM today to see if the
problem goes away with this one system. The Forms Server crashed
a single time yesterday and the Report Server twice. Patch 8 is
installed and the Servlet Wrapper is being used using Apache
(9iAS). Here is a copy of my HTML file.

• DBServlet

I just wonder if it's possible to deploy DBServlet to OAS4.0.8.0? ( not 4.0.8.1 ).
Thank you very much
Naichen

Not very sure which version of JDeveloper you are using.
DBServlet feature has been deprecated from JDeveloper 3.x onwards.
You can use JSP application wizard to get the same functionality of what you have in DBServelts.
If you are using JDeveloper 2.0 we would strongly recommend moving to JDeveloper 3.1.x release .
To answer your question
A HTML page can be built with mutilple Frames where one of the frame can be an Applet and other frame showing the Servlet pages.

• FRM-40735 with ORA-105100 when calling JavaBean in Forms6i deployed to Web

We are encountering an ORA_JAVA error during runtime in a new simple form when trying to call an imported JavaBean in Forms 6i.
It works when in the Forms6i Builder Run Form Client/Server mode on Linux/Motif.
The specific error is: FRM-40735:WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger raised unhandled exception ORA-105100
Our form incorporates the following simple example from Metalink Note:131964.1
How to Create a Simple Java program with the ORA_JAVA Package of Forms?
We have confirmed that we are downloading our custom JavaDev6i.jar file in the JInitiator console during runtime when deployed on the Forms Server using sockets.
We have turned on Forms Runtime Diagnostics (FRD), which showed the following
ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR: 121
when attempting to execute the call to the JavaBean.
I also ran strace on the forms processes:
strace -o/tmp/f60srvm_trc.txt -afeT -p 21192 &
strace -o/tmp/f60webmx_trc.txt -afeT -p 9172 &
I found libjvm.so could not be found in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH,
so I changed /d01/oracle/visappl/admin/adovars.env from:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/network/jre11/lib/i686/native_threads:$ORACLE_HOME/network/jre11/lib/linux/native_threads:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH:=}
to
JDK131_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.3.1_20
export JDK131_HOME
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$JDK131_HOME/lib/i386:$JDK131_HOME/jre/lib/i386:$JDK131_HOME/jre/lib/i386/classic:$JDK131_HOME/jre/lib/i386/native_threads:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH:=}
This solved that library problem, but it did not fix the original problem of not being able to run a JavaBean in a deployed Form.

Looks like the CLASSPATH for the server is not set correctly. Does it include the directory where your JAR file resides?
You say that the JavaDev6i.jar is downloaded the the JInitiator, which surprises me. It looks like you are trying to import/call Java from the server side, which means it is not necessary to load the JAR client side. You only have to include it in the client side JARs if you are using Pluggable Java Components (PJC) which run client side. You are using the Java Importer which creates a PL/SQL wrapper around a server side Java class.
This might also explain why it does work in client/server mode. Then you might have a different CLASSPATH setup when starting Forms Runtime from within Forms Builder.

• Help-Is 9ias a necessity even for client server deployment of forms6i

Hi
Is 9Ias a necessity even for client server deployment of forms6i using developerSuite. I have been told that Oracle no longer markets Forms Server?
Ganesh.

No for client server deployment you don't need iAS.
On the second issue Forms server (the bit of forms used to web deploy) is no longer sold stand-alone - it is part of the iAS suite.

• Forms6i Q: how to quash beep under certain deployment conditions ...

First ... we are using Forms6i developed in client-server mode with developer licenses, and then we run these forms / reports / etc. via runtime on a Terminal Server. Oracle does not technically support this, but I can state for a fact that it runs justfine_ and has for last 6 years, and 6 years before that via WinNT. Forms6i is so brilliantly stable, it's hard to think of giving it up ... but that's another story.
Duncan Mills??? Grant Roland??? y'all lurking??? (please don't hate me!!)
We have a form that runs just fine, queries data, creates a list.
It had a double-click (dc) on a key field to go to child record, users could review, edit, save, close, return to list, dc to next rec in select. Handy, because user didn't lose select set and could work at will.
New Requirement ... user wants to open several of those child records at once and arrange at will on screen, close at will, etc.
So ... we figured out how to do this with RUN_PRODUCT (Forms, etc. parameters) yippee!
(RUN_PRODUCT Is woefully searched / documented, except for run reports and, of course, deprecated in 10g, but I digress).
So ... now we deploy our test form on our production Terminal Server (we have a way to do this), an old trooper, a Windows 2000 Terminal Server. It runs just fine, does what we want. Good. Now we put it on our VIRTUAL Terminal Server (VTS), and test again. It all works, lovely, users can open 100+ sessions and VTS does not blink, all to the good (in real time, users will open maybe 5 of these sub-sessions at a time, and we will limit them to 15 via Oracle Profile.
Here's the problem:
On the old TS, it does exactly what we want.
On the new VTS, it beeps 3 times when a child rec is DC'd to.
This will drive the users batty. They need no more noise in a noisy environment.
We have tried the following ...
(a) Quiet Mode (seems to otherwise work, but not with this).
(b) an environment variable ... "QUIET=YES" ... no effect.
(c) turning off server's speaker ... no effect.
(d) changing the settings in the mysterious CONFIG.NT and AUTOEXEC.NT files that still exist in the System32 folder (this was the secret of working with WinNT servers!!!)
(e) looking for a setting in the secretive CAGPREFS.ORA file or the registry ... no luck here so far.
(f) looking thru forms help ... but this is woefully non-descript on beep behavior.
===>>> Does anyone have other ideas or an actual solution?
Is there something peculiar to using Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (virtual or not)??
Is there some mystic operating system setting that should be set and is new to us?
Kind regards all, thanks in advance for any clues, especially if you've read this far.
Suzanne Michelle

Steve, the MTSC link provided another link to what turned out to be the answer ...
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/73767bca-021b-480f-9001-fffaae2220da
... I disabled System Beep and System Speaker (under My Computer, Manager, Diagnostics, Device Manager (being sure to click View, Show hidden objects)).
(but I did not reboot server, and perhaps should have, but could not, mid-day)
... I added the Steve-Holk-suggested "DisableBeep" DWORD string to the registry
I quote ...
==================================================
I asked around and found out there is a registry setting with will disable beeps from the server side. Here it is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server
DisableBeep REG_DWORD 0x1
==================================================
... and I did that, and then did restart the server (this is a virtual server, no box, so yet more layers, not normally accessible) ... and the beep was gone.
Yes it did beep on my computer, and if I disabled that beep, it stopped, but I cannot control users' PCs, only the server.
So, in my judgement, this is a Microsoft bug, that the TS is not correctly handling it's own "do not pass audio" instruction, at least without the above specific registry change.
At least now I can live with it!
Thank you SO MUCH for pointing me in correct direction!!
I am very grateful, and my users will be too!
(I will look at the QA suggestion tho' for other reasons, thanks for that too!)
Kind regards,
Suzanne
