Deploying Cisco Unified CM Assistant Console in CM 8.5

Our business recently upgraded to Cisco Unified CM 8.5.  I discovered Assistant Console in the Applications - Plugins.  I have reviewed some of the documentation, but have a few questions.
1.  Where do I find the complete documentation for deploying this application? I basically wanted to set up the necessary structure in CM, so I can install the application on my workstation and play with the software to see if the functionality is appropriate for our business.
2.   In CM,  System - Service Parameters - Server - Service:  Cisco IP Manager Assistant (Active), what Server be defined as Primary vs. Backup?
Cisco IPMA Server (Primary) IP Address
Cisco IPMA Server (Backup) IP Address
Our VoIP environment is set up as a cluster with (1) Publisher, (1) Subscriber and (1) Virtual Server.  I believe I understand that the Subscriber would be the correct Server to assign as the Primary IPMA server,  because it has less work to do and then assign the Publisher as the Backup IPMA server.  Would this be correct?
2.  Cisco documentation refers to 7940/7941/7960/7961/7970/7971 phones to be programmed for this solution, but what about 7942 phones?  I would hope that they to can be used for the Assistant console?
3.  Cisco documentation shows that JRE 1.4.2_05 needs to be installed.  Will a current version of Java work as well or do I specifically need this version?
Please supply any other info that would be helpful for this implementation.

Susan,
Save yourself some time and don't bother with this feature, use shared lines instead as you will same yourself from painful config/support and end user from frustration. I've deployed it at few customers back few years ago (no improvements have been made to this feature for some time) and they will hated it and ripped it out. Cisco should have gotten rid of this app instead of AC.
HTH,
Chris

  • Is there a way to run Cisco Unified CM Assistant Configuration Wizard again in CCM 7.1(3)?

I had issues when running the Assistant Configuration Wizard in the first time. Is there a way to run it again in CCM 7.1(3)?
    Thank you
    Marcos

    Marcos,
The answer is no.  You can use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Assistant Configuration Wizard only once in a Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster configuration. The feature verifies the number of times that the configuration wizard has been run (zero or 1). If the configuration wizard has been run once, the summary window automatically displays. The summary window displays the details and status of the configuration wizard that was previously run. If the configuration has not been run, the configuration process continues.

  • Cisco Unified Enterprise Attended Console License issue

    Hi Guys,
We have a CUEAC 8.6.2. It was having some issues and we restarted the server. After the restart when I log into webadmin the
system configuration tab is missing. I think this is because of the license. I got the license file and when I try to apply the same it says invalid license or registration code. It looks like the registration code in there is wrong and when I try to change it it does not allow me to make any changes to it. Any ideas how can I change the registration code ?
    Thanks Guys

    Hi,
Regsitration code is one time activity after u install application.
If you do any of the following you must re-license the software with a new registration code:
    • Reinstall the operating system on the same hardware
    • Install a different operating system on the same hardware
    • Add or remove certain hardware (such as an NIC card)
    • Change the machine name
    • Perform a major upgrade
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucmac/cuacs/10_5_1/install_admin_guide/CUACS1051GUIDE.pdf
So, try changing the machine name on same HW to get new Regsitration code. This is what I think.

  • Cisco Unified Department Attendant Console Server 8.6.1.9 Directory Issue

Hi guys i have an issue in My CUDAC, I already installed the Attendant Console Client on the operator´s pc and when i try to find an user by it´s Last Name, First Name or Number extension i can´t find it, and on the Directory Area i can´t see the phones. The CUDAC 8.6.1.9 is on w2008 server SP2 with ISS, NETFRAMEWORK 3.5, SQL EXPRESS. I have a CCM 8.0.3 and i don´t have presence server. The question is must i install a presence server? and what can cause the directory issue?; i noticed when i make a search request on the directory area, there is a message at the bottom of the Attendant Console Operator wich says "Database Searching" but doesn´t display nothing.
Please if someone knows about this issue let me now.

    Hello Juan
I haven't got in front of me but can if you look on the server for the directory sync settings I beleive you can sync on partition and or department. Make the partition search to "none" and then in the Department field you enter the value that you have entered in the "end user" department field on cucm.  They must match as CUDAC looks for the value you have entered in the Department field in the cucm end user menu
I am having trouble with the presence side as well. It was working but after a reboot it has stopped working. All the phones in the directory have a cross, By the way you don't need a presence server for this.
    Thanks
    Feisal

  • Cisco unified Attendant Console reports

    Hi,
We have a customer with Cisco Unified Enterprise Attendant Console 8.5.1.5 interested in operator reports. They have more than one operator per queue. There is a report with attended operator calls but no abandoned. Is there any way to get the abandoned calls by operator (not by queue)?
    Thanks in advance
    Laura

    Hi Laura,
As the calls route through the queues this where calls are abandoned, calls are not routed directly to the operators phone hence why there is no report for this against a user.

    Hi Anthony,
    Thanks for the question.
This is an interesting requirement, since the UCCX trigger's configuration is translated only to the Call Forward Busy External setting on the CUCM.

As you would aready know, the UCCX will send an AXL request (within the SOAP envelope) to the CUCM to create this RP. Looking at the existing code, there does not seem to be a method where we are differentiating between CFB_internal and CFB_external while sending this request.
We have taken this as an enhancement request and also spoken to the business unit about the same. It has been added to the roadmap, we will reach out to you offline to understand the business case so that the process can be expedited if needed.
    Keep the questions coming

  • Cisco Unified Communication Manager Deployment Model Question

    Hello,
I am researching how to create a cluster over the WAN for CUCM and all of the design specifications I look at have a Voice Router between the cloud and the Subscribing servers. Why can the Subscribing servers not talk directly to each other?
    Thank You
    P.S such as this http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/4x/42models.html#wp1045977
    Local Failover Deployment Model
The local failover deployment model provides the most resilience for clustering over the WAN. Each of the sites in this model contains at least one primary Cisco Unified CallManager subscriber and one backup subscriber. This configuration can support up to four sites. The maximum number of phones and other devices will be dependant on the quantity and type of servers deployed. The maximum total number of IP phones for all sites is 30,000. (See Figure 2-5.)
Figure 2-5 Example of Local Failover Model

    Hi
They can talk to each other directly, you are correct.
Typically a voice router would also be a WAN router only in small branch sites.
On a deployment anywhere near the size indicated the voice gateways would be single-purpose hosts (as they are also indicated on the diagram).
I presume they are indicated with a V as the 'could' be voice gateways as well, though they would almost certainly not be.

I am not here to belittle your skills.  But it's good that you admit that you're not good at setting up VCUs.  It's also good that you're starting from scratch.  SO my recommendations to you and your company is to get a consultant in.  If you make a mistake, your name and reputation is on the line.  IF a consultant makes a mistake, they have no choice.

  • CUCM 8.6 Manager Assistant Console

I am currently setting up a test setup of the Manager Assistant Console in proxy mode and have a few questions about the proxy lines and the intercom lines.
In the setup guide, Manager and Assistant Phone Configurations tell you to configure the phones with the following setting: (We have 7962 phones)
"If using the Cisco Unified IP Phone 7900 series, except Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940 or 7960, configure the intercom feature "
I assumed that these were standard intercoms like I had set up for some other Managers in the past. I had gone to "Call Routing>Intercom" and set up an intercom partition (Intercom1), a CSS (Intercom 1 CSS, includes ONLY the Intercom1 partition), and several DN's for intercoms (3-digits and out of range of our regular 5-digit DN's on phones). Then I created some custom phone button templates that included one intercom line in addition to the phone lines. This keeps intercoms lines separate from regular DN's so users can't call someone's intercom line as if it were a regular DN and they use the whisper mode by default placing the receiving phone in speaker mode but muted so the caller cannot surreptitiously listen in on someone else.
So, this is what I did also for the manager and assistant phones for use with the Assistant console. Simply created some more Intercom DN's and assigned them to the Manager and Assistant Phones using custom button templates that include a 'real' Intercom Line.
Everywhere else that talks about the intercom lines for the Manager Assistant Console seems to indicate that they are not 'real' intercom lines but simply regular DN's that have "Auto Answer w/ Speaker" turned on and are in the ONNET (everyone) partition. This means that there is no Whisper feature and the assistant (or anyone who knows the managers 'intercom DN' can spy on the manager. This is totally unacceptable.
I think I can configure this using 'real' Intercom lines that have their own partition (so only other intercom users can reach it) and have the whisper feature (auto answer w/ speakerphone BUT MUTED) except when it comes to the IPMA Clusterwide Parameter, "All User Partition" that is supposed to be configured with the name of the partition that includes the Intercom DN's AND the Proxy DN's.
The two possible solutions I can see are:
    1. The Clusterwide Parameter is only for Automatic Configuration and I am manually configuring everything so maybe I don't have to configure this parameter while just using 'real' Intercoms in the Intercom1 partition while setting up proxy lines in the ONNET partition
    OR
    2. I might be able to configure the proxy DN's to use the Intercom partition instead of the ONNET partition.

The answer turned out to be 1. You can use real intercom lines just fine and in fact they have several advantages.
    1. By using real intercom lines you initially get the one-way Whisper mode and the called party can press a button to go two way. The IPMA way are two-way only.
    2. By using real intercom lines they stay intercom lines even when the assistant is logged out. The IPMA way causes the intercom lines to revert to normal phone lines when the assistant logs out.

    Hello Nick,
I appreciate your questions, and will try to answer them below.
When you are installing a fresh new MeetingPlace 8.5 that you plan to integrate with WebEx, the only available option is WebEx Managed user profiles. With this option, you can either create profiles manually on WebEx side, and then sync them to MeetingPlace, or you can use Federated SSO for import of profiles from LDAP server in your network to WebEx, and then sync the profiles from WebEx to MeetingPlace (you choose one of these two options when provisioning WebEx site).
These are the only two available options for a NEW install of MP8.5 for WebEx integration, and as you can see both options are WebEx Managed profiles, the only difference is if you are going to use Federated SSO, or create profiles on WebEx manually.
During the install, you can select to install MeetingPlace managed users option, but you would choose this option only if you plan to do a migration from an earlier MP release (7.x/8.0) with WebEx integration and Directory Integration.
For example, MeetingPlace managed profiles option is available if you had MeetingPlace 8.0 integrated with WebEx Type II (WebEx scheduling) with Directory Integration, where you had your MP8.0 integrated with CUCM via AXL for user profile management (CUCM integrated with LDAP), and your WebEx Site provisioned for Directory Integration, and then migrate from that system to MeetingPlace 8.5 that you installed selecting MeetingPlace managed user profiles.
The same goes for MeetingPlace Scheduling (Type I) integration with WebEx. Possible only with migration, and not with a fresh new installation.
Now, to focus on your questions.
    1. As you can see, you don't have many options. If you have MS Active Directory that you would like to use for SSO in MP8.5 WebEx Scheduling, you will have to go with Federated SSO. So far, I haven't heard of any issues with that as it seems to be pretty straight forward to configure, and also WebEx Support team provides direct support for that setup as it is a direct integration between WebEx Site and the LDAP server (nothing to do with MeetingPlace side of the equation).
    2. In general, if you have Federated SSO enabled, you would go to WebEx site home page, click on Host Log In button which will then ask you to enter your network/windows credentials and place you to WebEx scheduling interface.
If you have Directory Integration (like on MP8.0 WebEx Type II with CUCM/AXL integration), when you go to WebEx site home page and click Host Log In button, you are being redirected to the MeetingPlace log-in page where you would enter your Windows credentials (assuming your CUCM is integrated with LDAP), and then if log in is successful, you get redirected back to WebEx scheduling interface. With this type of deployment, you can log in to WebEx scheduling interface ONLY if you are connecting from your company network or have a VPN connection to your company network. This is a major limitation that most customers complained about, but the reason for this was that we didn't want to make MP Application server hostname/IP publicly available and hence cause a security issue.
I am sure I answered your questions, but opened some new questions. So, please, let me know if I need to clarify anything.
    Thank you.

  • How do I remove the certificat error everytime I try to access the Cisco Unified CM Administration web-page?

    Hi,
Every time I want to have access to the Cisco Unified CM Console (System version: 7.0.1.11000-2), I use the https://10.10.x.x/ccmadmin/showHome.do homepage on my client computer, but when I open the page, I get a SSL certificate error, stating no trust to this webpage security certificate and if I those "continue to this page (not recommended)", I get access to the Cisco Unified CM Console web page.
I have tried to add the https://IP-adress to secure web pages in Internet Explorer 7, but this to no avail, it does not help.
How do I add this certificate to a trusted something, so I do not get this warning every time I open the page?
    Kind regards,
    Carl-Marius

    Hi Michael,
It worked when I change the IP-address to the name that was written in the certificate, and imported the certificate to Internet Explorer.
Thank you for your fast and very precise help!
    Kind regards,
    Carl-Marius

    Hello Robert,
Apologies for a delayed response, some days get very hectic.
In CallManager, we only define the SRST reference, and CUCM version and SRST version are independent of each other.
The only thing, which is related and will change with CUCM upgrade is Phone F/w version.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
You may just want to check your, phone f/w compatibility with the SRST version running on your ISR G1 Gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_device_support_tables_list.html
    For Example: SRST version 7.1
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps2169/data_sheet_c78-520521.html
You may want to do some lab testing with CUCM 9.1 and an SRST supported f/w on your phones.
If you decide to run the old Phone/F/w to support the SRST version, you may not be able to take advantage of new features.
Also, you can try and upgrade your phones(Wih CUCM 9.1) and test them with your SRST version.
It should work fine, but from a troubleshooting perspective, TAC may request you to come into a Cisco Supported combination.
Please, let me know if this clarifies your doubt or we can have a quick phone call.
    Regards
    Amit Singh

    Derrick,
RFC 3261defines ways to provide increased security for a SIP session.
The following describes areas in SIP that provides security for the protocol
    1. Authenticating users.
We need to authenticate a user to ensure that the sender of the message is who he claims to be.
To achieve this SIP uses digest authentication between a UAC, proxy and a UAS. This provides the most basic level of authentication challenge between a client, proxy and a server.
    2. Secure SIP signalling
The next area we can secure is SIP signalling itself. For this we use SSL/TLS. This is similar to using https in web browsers. With TLS before our any signalling is exchange X.509 certificates are used create a secure TLS channel. All our SIP messages are then transported within the secure channel.
NB: The digest authentication mentioned above for authenticating a user agent is just authentication. The messages are not protected from reading or modification hence it is recommended that these messages are carried inside a secure TLS channel for better security.
    3. Privacy and Identification
Additional security features in SIP provides means where any user can choose to either reveal or conceal his identity.
    4.Secure RTP
SIP also provides the ability to secure the media channel. It is not enough to secure signalling while anyone can listen to the media. RFC3830 discusses how the encryption should be done.
    5. S/MIME
S/MIME encapsulation is used to protect sip headers making it impossible for any one in between the sender and receiver to modify the sip headers
    Regards

  • Ask the Expert: C-Series Integration with Cisco Unified Computing System Manager

Welcome to the Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This conversation is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about Cisco C-Series Integration with Cisco Unified Computing System® Manager (Cisco UCS® Manager) with Cisco experts Vishal Mehta and Manuel Velasco.
Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers are managed by the built-in standalone software, Cisco Integrated Management Controller (Cisco IMC). When a C-Series rack-mount server is integrated with Cisco UCS Manager, the IMC no longer manages the server. Instead you will manage the server using the Cisco UCS Manager GUI or Cisco UCS Manager command-line interface (CLI).
Cisco UCS Manager 2.2 provides three connectivity modes for Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Server management. The following are the connectivity modes:
Dual-wire management (shared LAN On Motherboard [LOM]): Shared LOM ports on the rack server are used exclusively for carrying management traffic.A separate cable connected to one of the ports on the Payment Card Industry Express (PCIe) card carries the data traffic.
SingleConnect (Sideband): Using Network Controller Sideband Interface (NC-SI), the Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card 1225 (VIC1225) connects one cable that can carry both data and management traffic.
Direct Connect Mode: Cisco UCS Manager Version 2.2 introduces an additional rack server management mode using direct connection to the Fabric Interconnect.
Vishal Mehta is a customer support engineer for Cisco’s Data Center Server Virtualization Technical Assistance Center (TAC) team based in San Jose, California. He has been working in the TAC for the past 3 years with a primary focus on data center technologies such as Cisco Nexus® 5000, Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus 1000V, and virtualization. He presented at Cisco Live in Orlando 2013 and will present at Cisco Live Milan 2014 (BRKCOM-3003, BRKDCT-3444, and LABDCT-2333). He holds a master’s degree from Rutgers University in electrical and computer engineering and has CCIE® certification (number 37139) in routing and switching and service provider.
Manuel Velasco is a customer support engineer for Cisco’s Data Center Server Virtualization TAC team based in San Jose, California.  He has been working in the TAC for the past 3 years with a primary focus on data center technologies such as Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus 1000V, and virtualization.  Manuel holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and CCNA® and VMware VCP certifications. Hello Sebastian,
The different modes of connecting C-Series with UCSM come into play depending on the type of infrastructure you already have along with C-Series and NIC model.
Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Servers are managed by the built-in standalone software, Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC) .
Powerful features provided by Cisco UCS Manager can be leveraged to manage C-Series server by integrating  C-Series Rack-Mount Server with UCSM.
This not only gives you rich-feature set but also one management plane to operate UCS-B Series Chassis and UCS-C Series Rack Server.
You will manage the server using the Cisco UCS Manager GUI or Cisco UCS Manager CLI.
Cisco UCS Manager 2.2 provides three connectivity modes for Cisco UCS C-Series Rack-Mount Server management.
The following are the connectivity modes:
    •  Dual-wire Management (Shared LOM):
Shared LAN on Motherboard (LOM) ports on the rack server are used exclusively for carrying management traffic. A separate cable connected to one of the ports on the PCIe card carries the data traffic. Using two separate cables for managing data traffic and management traffic is also referred to as dual-wire management.

This mode is recommended when you have C-Server which does not  have or cannot support VIC 1225 card (such C-200 server)
    •  SingleConnect (Sideband):
Using Network Controller Sideband Interface (NC-SI), Cisco UCS VIC1225 Virtual Interface Card (VIC) connects one cable that can carry both data traffic and management traffic.
This feature is referred to as SingleConnect.

This most recommended Integration model when using FEX and VIC 1225 card
    •  Direct Connect Mode:
Cisco UCS Manager release version 2.2 introduces an additional rack server management mode using direct connection to the Fabric Interconnect.
This mode will eliminate the need for FEX module as Servers are directly plugged into the base ports of Fabric Interconnect
