Deploying Crystal Reports (CR for VS2010) to Windows Server 2008

What do I need to deploy an ASP.NET web application built in VS2010 (.NET 4.0) to Windows Server 2008 Standard?
One by one I've been fixing this issue and then that issue, trying to get this app deployed to our server. The latest issue is an event in the server's Application log. The part that has me most concerned is "The keycode assembly, BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeycodeDecoder.dll, cannot be loaded."
Does this message mean we can't use the free runtime on our server? If yes, what do I need to purchase? And, is there a trial version I can test this with before spending more money?
I installed "CRforVS_13_0" on my workstation and switched the assembly references from 14.0.2 to 13.0.2.  I also installed the "CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0" on the server. BTW, where is the runtime for the 14.0.2 assemblies?
The assembly version in the above is 13.0.2. This is confirmed by looking in the GAC on the server and the local dev machine. However, the developer's guide (crnet_dg_2010_en.chm) says the version should be 14.0.2. Which version should I use? I can't find the runtime for 14.0.2 so I'm using the older 13.0.2 version.
Thanks!

Eeeek.
The 1st thing you want to do is clean up your dev box and get rid of any sniff of CRVS2010 Beta (14.x). See KB [1535325  - How to remove CRVS2010 Beta 2|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533333335333333323335%7D.do] (hoping this is Beta 2 not Beta 1).
Once you have re-installed crvs2010 rtm from here:
http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.asp
Make sure the only CR references in your project are of version 13.x. Recompile the app, then you can use either the msm or msi to deploy the CR runtime.

MSI 32 bit http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0.zip
MSI 64 bit http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_redist_install_64bit_13_0.zip
Re. the keycodedecoder warning. This is a  known issue and does not impact your or any other project. This will be resolved in SP 1 for CRVS2010.

    You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
    In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
    First look for this link then drill into it:
    Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
    In this section you will find the following:
    This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
    This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01

    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
    This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
    There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • Deploying Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008

    I have Windows Forms project using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008
    I can't find the merge module to include in the setup project like I used to do in Visual Studio .NET 2003
    Everyone seems to say that they don't exist for that version of Crystal Reports
    After searching for a long time I found something about a package located at
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x86.msi
    Tried it and it seems to work.
    Do I have to install this to the client computer ? Is that the only way having a "Crystal Reports Basic Runtime for Visual Studio 2008" in the program list of the client computer ?

    Hi Victor,
    We can download all the runtimes from the following link:

  • Deploying crystal reports basic for visual studio 2008 for VB6

    My application has a module in .net and other in vb6.
    I have a problem on deploying crystal reports in client machines, for module in vb6.
    The vb6 application uses crystal viewer control obtained from crystal reports basic for visual studio 2008.
    What type of deployment should I use?
    Currently, I have a setup with prerequisite "crystal reports basic for visual studio 2008".
    But I think it misses the dlls crviewer.dll and craxddrt.dll, so I put them in setup and with the register COM options, and it works, but it's not working very well.
    When I open a form that uses crystal viewer, the setup (I have created) is lunched and says that have to restart machine. Then it opens the report, but the next time I use the application it does the same thing.

    Ok, thank's for the posts, they help so much.
    So I'm going to discard vb6 and move to .NET, but... there is a problem:
    Many reports have parameters that are asked before showing the report.
    The Crystal Viewer that is used in VB6 version isn't the same used in .NET.
    The viewer of VB6 asks the parameters in the way we want, however the .NET crystal viewer ask's the parameters in way that we don't like, because we have to do next -> next -> next...
    The links above show the diferences:
    VB6 ->  http://picasaweb.google.com.br/paulo.gonc/CrystalReports#5249249283702618322
    .NET -> http://picasaweb.google.com.br/paulo.gonc/CrystalReports#5249246459437178242
    There is a way to configure Crystal Viewer, so that parameters asking form will work like the vb6 away?

  • Pb with pro*C / Oracle 11 / VS2010 on Windows server 2008

    Hello,
    I am migrating an application from Windows server 2003 / Oracle 10gr2 / Visual Studio 2003 to Windows Server 2008 / Oracle 11gr2 / Visual Studio 2010 and I am having some issue with the compilation of our oci files.
    After fixing the common issue related to path change for Visual Studio, I ran in the following error message while trying to compile one of my file:
    Syntax error at line 48, column 9, file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC\include\vadefs.h:

    Searching on the web lead me first to use a work around to define W64 and _W64, but that only leads to more errors of the same kind after.
    Also, I've found that "Error at line 0, column 0" may be an indication of missing semi-column or brace, but as the source file has not been changed during this migration, it is still syntactically correct as it was compiling with earlier version of pro*c. Of course, I have double checked and I don't think I am missing any obvious brace or semi-column, or coma ...
    Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Eric

    I'm not sure how much help my post will be, but perhaps it will have some value for you.
    There's an unpublished bug on this issue (Bug 10017848 - PRO*C PRECOMPILER CANNOT HANDLE _W64 IN TYPEDEF) but it has not been resolved as of this writing.
    If you are not familiar with the purpose of "__w64" (which has been deprecated) you can see the following in the MS documentation:
    [url http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/s04b5w00(v=vs.100).aspx]Visual Studio 2010 __w64 description
    Now, one thing that you may be able to use in your situation is to simply make "__w64" an "empty define" at the top of your source file(s) like so:
    #ifdef WIN32
    #define __w64
    #endif
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    #include <sqlca.h>
    #include <sqlda.h>
    #include <sqlcpr.h>
    ... rest of code ...Of course the above assumes that WIN32 has been defined - if it has not, you will need to use another symbol, make adjustments, etc.
    As an example:
    proc define=(_WSTDIO_DEFINED,WIN32) code=ansi_c parse=full common_parser=yes atest.pcIf you have a large amount of files that can be tedious of course but it may be a potential workaround for you.

  • Crystal Reports version for VS2010

    Hi there,
    What's the version of CR for VS2010? Is it CR2008 or CR X?
    Because I'm looking forward to get some study material(textbook) for CR in VS2010, but don't know what I should looking into CR X or CR XIII or CR 2008?..
    P.S. I checked the CR CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll in the global assembly, and it shows two version 13.0.2000.0 and 10.5.3700.0.
    Thank you,

    Hello,
    What's the version of CR for VS2010?
    Dll version: 13.0.2000.0.
    Product Name: Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (CR4VS2010).
    Is it CR2008 or CR X?
    It's a different product than CR2008 and CR X. Look at the link below for details.
    Just an FYI... with earlier versions of VS we use to ship the CR product usualy referred as Bundled CR. CR4VS2010 is the same type for VS2010, but not shipped with VS2010 setup.
    Because I'm looking forward to get some study material(textbook) for CR in VS2010, but don't know what I should looking into CR X or CR XIII or CR 2008?..
    Look at the link below.
    P.S. I checked the CR CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll in the global assembly, and it shows two version 13.0.2000.0 and 10.5.3700.0.
    13.0.2000.0 - is the dll of CR4VS2010 and this is the one which you should be using in apps designed and developed in VS2010. You can use reports pre-designed in CR2008 through.

  • Generated Crystal Report PDFs are different on Windows server

    Post Author: present
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi,
    I created Crystal Report template (with two columns on one
    page) inside VS 2005 on my Windows XP Professional machine.
    But there are formating problems on both XP and Windows
    Server machines:
    1) On Windows XP machine, I have to overlap the two columns
    on the page inside VS 2005 editor in order to generate
    correct PDF file (without overlap). How to fix the the
    overlapping problem in editor?
    2) On Windows 2003 server: After I put the template on
    Windows 2003 server that has no VS 2005 installed (only
    CRRedist2005_x86.msi was installed), the generated PDF has
    different font size and layout (such as page size, column
    overlap, etc).
    Do I have to install VS 2005 on server too? It is really
    frustrating that I have to print document generated on the
    server before I know if the template works fine or not.
    Any help is highly appreciated!

    Typically when you are seeing page formatting issues on different machines, it could be because of printer drivers (or lack of).  The reporting engine relies on the printer driver configured on the machine to provide information so that a page can be properly rendered.  If you designed the report on your dev machine which is using PrinterA and then deploy to another machine using PrinterB, the formatting could be off.  So make sure that the exact same printer driver is being used on these machines.  If your deployments are expected to go to different machines where you don't know what printer will be installed, then you will need to design the report such that it can be rendered as best as possible.  Another option is to check the "No Printer" option and this should render the report the same on any machine with any printer, but then you'll need to make sure you handle any scenarios where the user wants to print to the printer.
    If this is an ASP.NET application then permissions could play a part if the printer drivers cannot be accessed.  There are whitepapers on the BOBJ support site that have information on to configure CR to print reports in ASP.NET apps.

  • Unable export crystal report XI to pdf on window server 2003 SP1

    I have a class asp function to export crystal report XI to pdf file, it is workable at winXP but when i copy it to window server 2003, it exported the file with zero length (file size is 0kb).
    when i try to open the zero length pdf file, it shows the file is already open or in use by another application.
    when i run my export function, i can see there is a new file created at the folder "C:\windows\Temp", when i try to open the tmp file, i get the message "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process", i can open the tmp file after i end the process "w3wp.exe network service", the data in the tmp file is exactly what i need to export to the pdf file.
    At the window server 2003, I have installed the Crystal Report XI developer edition,
    For the web application folder and the pdf export folder, Read, Write and Modify permission has been set for the following accounts:
    1. myServer\Administrators
    2. myServer\ASPNET
    3. myserver\IUSR_myserver
    4. myServer\IWAN_myserver
    5. Network Service
    6. System
    7. myServer\Users
    I think it is the permission problem, but how to set the right permission at the window server 2003 SP1? please advise. thanks

    Hello,
    It is a permission issue. When you export Crystal first tries to write the file to the local TEMP folder and then delete it to see if it has read/write permissions. If it fails to delete the file you need to give the TEMP folder on the WEB server permissions for your application. Check Microsofts WEB site on how to set permissions on shared folders for your ASP application.
    You may want to search in forums also, this looks familar.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Report 13 Visual Studio 2010 SQL Server 2008 R2 ODBC Problem

    Hi Everybody,
    I am new in Crystal Report.
    I developed a web application in Visual Studio 2010, and my Database is SQL Server 2008 R2.
    I created reports using Crystal Report 13 in Visual Studio and my Operating System is Windows 7 32-Bit.
    I used ODBC Connection System DNS for my application.
    It is running fine even after Hosting on my local PC.
    But it creates problem when hosted on my Team Leader PC and Test Server.
    Their Configurations are same but only difference is "SQL Server 2008" Not R2
    The Error I am getting is "Failed to open the connection".
    When I Host the same on my another team member PC, I am getting the error like
    "Failed to open the connection. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 4060 ] Database Connector Error: ' [Database Vendor Code: 4060 ]' Failed to open the connection. Failed to open the connection. TestVr {CE268132-D2BD-43EC-BE45-0BCD847FBCDA}.rpt Details: [Database Vendor Code: 4060 ]"
    I tried various solution to fix this bug.
    But i am unable to do this and not getting any idea to fix this issue.
    If anyone can guide I will be thankful to him.
    All suggestions are appreciable.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Please use the top right search box. for ex below search which will return many useful kb's, articlea and forum threads where simillar issues are discussed.
    [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/advancedsearch?query=failedtoopentheconnection|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/advancedsearch?query=failedtoopentheconnection]
    Most probably the issue is missing database client driver / provider.
    Install the driver used to connect the rpt to the db on the server and then create a 32 bit DSN with the same name as the dev machine..
    Hope this helps,
    Bhushan.

  • Crystal Reports XI R2 and Window Server 2008 Hyper-V environment

    Hello,
    Is there any known issue that Crystal Reports XI R2 running on Window Server 2008 Hyper-V enviroment?
    I tested on Development Server which is Window Server 2008 and it is working fine but when tested with another servers which are in Hyper-V enviroment and ASP.NET program keep crushing.
    I got the below error on my event log:
    Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 7.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e023cf, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x03976ce8, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.
    Thanks,
    Yin

    Hi Yin,
    Hyper-V I assume is the Hyper threading Intel and others enabled correct? Should not make a difference other than performance. You are still using 1 CPU so the cycles are being split between multiple programs. Not really an advantage.
    Try using ProcessMonitor and search on access denied to see what is having the problem.
    Other issue is CR XI R2 is not supported on windows 2008, or at least you should be running Service Pack 6 to at least get Windows 7 and Vista support, which is about the same as Windows 2008.
    Go to our download page and install SP 4 full build and then SP 6. ( assuming you don't have any SP's installed ) or look in the download area and download all of the patches from SP 4 as well as the distribution files for how ever you are deploying your application.
    Thank you

    Is it possible and what is to do to get it working, thanks,

    It does work on 64 bit OS - as a 32 bit application. CR 2008 is 32 bit only.

    The production environment hosts asp .net applications on IIS 7 that enables 32 bit applicatons to run over it.
    We still develope on Windows XP and Visual Studio 2005 using Crystal Report XI runtime.
    Reports are compatible and run properly in production environment having enabled application pool of IIS 7 in 32 bit mode.
    Is Crystal report XI runtime supported on windows server 2008 R2 hosted on IIS7 32 bit mode?
    Regards.
    Roberto.

    Hello,
    Where to start.... first thing to do is search, lots of posts on these exact questions...
    First, CR XI R2 does not support 4.0 framework, although MS does say it's fully backward compatible but it is not supported on Windows 2008 R2 unless you upgrade to CR XI R2A

    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114412011E/crxir2sp6_incremental.exe
    Or for a clean PC https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe
    Redist is on our download page.
    Second is CR XI R2 is not supported in VS 2010. Only one supported is CR for VS 2010 which you can download from here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/crystalreports-dotnet
    Bottom of the page has all of the download links for the 32 and 64 bit runtime for your WEB server.
    App Pool must run in 32 mode, just in case you are using 64 bit OS.
    Lastly, if you are using the SAP Integration Kit to connect to your BEX query then bad news, CR for VS 2010 doesn't have API's available to set the log on on info.
    You may be able to use B1, it uses CR 2008 OEM Build and they may support this. Search that forum to see if they do:

  • Windows Server 2008 and Crystal Reports 8.5 printing issue

    I am having a problem when using the crystal reports 8.5 report viewer ocx (ActiveX) under Windows Server 2008.
    When logging onto the server through remote desktop, a report can be shown on screen in preview. When this report is printed, and the user requests more than one copy, the printer only ever prints one copy. Is this a configuration of the terminal server, or simply that the ocx control doesn't cater for it?
    I am using the Windows Server 2008 "Terminal services Easy Print" drivers on the terminal server.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi Sastry
    I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
    Thanks
    Peter
