Deployment stuck at "Connecting to database...." at Unifier login page. Login button disabled
I've been working on deploying the 9.13 version of Unifier. Everything stood up fine, however at the Unifier login screen, it shows "Connecting to Database..." above the username and password entry forms, and the Login button is disabled and I cannot proceed any farther in the setup. Checking the SQL tabular view, the DB is empty. Can anyone point me as to where I might have missed a step?
Hi,
It sounds like you are running into a known bug (although it says it was fixed in 9.12.0.3 it might have still found it's way into 9.13.0.0)
Let us know how you go with the following steps:
1. Stop the Unifier web server instance.
2. Navigate to the [Unifier Installation Home]\apps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes directory and open the datasource.properties file in a text editor.
3. Update the server= line to include the name of the Unifier database in the databaseName= portion. Also remove the portion after the databaseName= portion.
Example before change:
server=jdbc:sqlserver://localhost\:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=;sele
ctMethod=cursor;
Example after change (database name is unifierdb):
server=jdbc:sqlserver://localhost\:1433;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=unifi
erdb;

How to connect Oracle database from Active Server page
Hi
This is srinivas aluri
I have developed an application using ASP and MS-SQL7.
Now i want to port this application to Oracle 8i database
I have written my connection in seperate file called
connection.inc using SQL OLEDB provider
If i have to connect oracle database what will be my provider
and what is the exact code for this connection string
Here i am giving the code of SQL databse connection string
strcon= Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Persist Security Info=False;User
ID=sa;Initial Catalog=prjdb;Data Source=servername
i have tried by changing the provider name from SQLOLEDB.1 to
OraOLEDB.oracle
but i could not able connect the database.
It is giving provider not found or not properly installed error.
But the same code is perfectly working from Visual Basic code.it depends on configuration your going to choose, there are two ways--
- Using X/Open standards, for this
you have to make an entry of Resource manager in $TUXDIR/udataobj/RM file.
Then in UBBConfig file in GROUPS section u have to set Openinfo.
It also depend on which database you are going to use.
In your service now you need to call tpopen() API from tpsvrinit() function.
- Other possibility is, take an implicit connection using Pro*C or Pro*Cobol whatever platform you are using.

Why I cannot connect to database after deploying application to OAS?
Hello experts...i have a new problem and here are the facts:
I`m using on Windows Xp:
Oracle Database 10.2.0
Oracle Application Server 10.1.3
Oracle Jdeveloper 10.1.3.3
I`m creating a new application using jdeveloper and i`m using 2 connection classes:
a) First connection class using:
InitialContext ctx=new InitialContext();
DataSource ds=ctx.lookup("jdbc/connDS");
Connection conn=ds.getConnection();
b) Second connection class using:
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:and the entire link goes here");
So far so good, but when I create a ear file using the First connection class and after i deploy it to OAS my application will not connect anymore to database!
If I will use the Second connection class, and create an ear file then deploy it to OAS, my application works fine, it connects to database but i have a problem. In my application users can upload and download the files they uploaded. The files are saved in DB as blob. The problem appears when users are downloading the files because for example file "example.doc" is uploaded on the server database and when a user try to download it the name of the file is like "example_doc" and my pc open it like an html in which is a server 500 error. Someone told me that happens because of my connection class... and I want to find out you`re opinion.
Why i cann`t connect to DB after deploy the application on OAS using the FIRST connection class?
- on Jdeveloper i can connect to DB using both of the connect classes (one at a time)
- I`m creating a war file from jdeveloper and deploy the ear file on the OAS
- on OAS i`ve created the connection pool and the data source and "The connection was establish succesfully"
Why the uploaded files are downloaded in this way? it`s the connection the problem?
- I want to tell you that when i`m extracting data from the DB table i`m not using a temp file, the conversion is made in the java class and the program throws me the file to download.
- as i told you in Jdeveloper both of the connection classes work!!! and when i`m using the FIRST connection class and try to download, the files ARE DOWNLOADED PERFECTLY CORRECT!
- if i`m using the SECOND connection class in jdeveloper, running the application on the built in oc4j instance and trying to download the same files, the files are DOWNLOADED BAD like I told you: the name of the file is like "example_doc" and my pc open it like an html in which is a server 500 error. with the pdf format is the same problem but my pc cannot open it telling something with "bad conversion...." error.
There are someone who had the same problem?
Theoretically i had to make the application to connect to the database after deploy it to OAS with the FIRST connection class and this way my files will be downloaded corectly... what to do?no one knows nothing about this issue? :(... i`m dissapointed...

Managed Server can not connect to Database
I have a WebLogic cluster with three managed Server on 3 different machines.
ManagedServer_1, ManagedServer_2, ManagedServer_3 (on Machine 3)
Firstly, everything is ok. But when we changed some configuration on Firewall and make the WebLogic cluster could not connect to database. 3 servers change status from Running to Warning. Then, we undo all the changes to the Firewall configuration. 3 Servers could connect to Database again but still in warning state.
It is strange that when I tried to restart ManagedServer_3. That server could not be up normally. It went to Admin state and all the datasources and connection pool could not be created. I tried to restart the machine 3 and start the server but it still failed to make server running normally.
( I made the test connecting to Database from Machine 3, everything is okie, I can got data from database, port 1521 opened )
Has anyone got the same problem and how to fix it? Is that the problem with the admin server?JDBC DataSources/Connection pools are all at Domain Level. All we do is just target the datasources to AdminServer and Entire cluster (this will take care of all managed servers in the cluster). From Weblogic Console, TEST the data sources for any firewall issues. If this works from console, check from where you are accessing the Console like within the Firewall, that can access the database server. Even though the actual application is deployed only on cluster, still I would recommend targetting the datasources to both AdminServer and Cluster.

CC&B not able to connect the database
I have Welogic with Oracle CC&B 2.3.1 Installed on my local laptop.
I have local database also in my laptop (oracle 11g). While doing spl start I am able to access CC&B with weblogic using local database.
But when in configureEnv.cmd I changed database configuration to other database which is located on Unix box
My Laptop have 32-bit window 7.
In ConfigureEnv i gave all credentials of other database to which I am trying to connect. But I am facing below issue.

How to use datasources to connect to database ?
I have the following Problem
I have two identical databases, one is the development database, the other one the production database.
Now I need to find a way, how I can deploy an bc4j-application in local mode that way, that if the application is deployed to server 1 it connects to database 1 and if deployed to server 2 it connects to database 2.
JDBC connection strings do not work as the connection is deployed with the application. So the application always connects to the same database.
I thought datasources might be the solution. So I tried to define a datasource MyDS in the data-sources.xml file and specified it in the Configuration Wizard as the connection to use.
But unfortunately this does not work and i do not know why:
If I try to connect using the tester and using this datasource I get the following exception:
Level #3: javax.naming.noInitialContextException
Can anyone help me, what this means? How can I get around this using the BC4J Framework? Is there any "HowTo" Document which describes using datasources with BC4J?Frank,
I've sorted this stuff out to some extent. Have a look at this thread:
re:? How: multiple myAppWar.ear to use OC4J's data-sources.xml pooling?
If this isn't all you need, then search on data-source.xml
and read other threads also I may have posted helps on
other threads so if you search on data-source.xml and my handle (curt504) it brings up all the threads that I posted to.
Not to say I've solved all your problems, but I solved mine anyway. :)
Good luck,

Need to Connect oracle database through EP
Hi,
my requirement is trying to connect oracle database and getting values from oracle database and displaying in portal (through EP)
i created driver name called - sapdirect and import the jars like pOracle.jar in the driver and then i'll try to create datasource with the following configurations

Then assign an Alias and enter some usermapping data for the system.
You then can use the ConnectorService to get a native sql connection and fire statements. I'm sure you can find some examples here.

Connection to database under JDeveloper 10.0.1 is not working
Full version of Oracle 10g (including Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.4) is instaled in Oracle-home directory "c:\DevSuiteHome".
I have instaled Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2 in other Non-Oracle directory "c:\JDev102", so I have both version of JDeveloper instaled.
The same connection to database is working correctly under JDeveloper 9.0.4, and not working under JDeveloper 10.0.1.
When I test connection under JDeveloper 10.0.1, next message is displayed:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specifiedHi,
This exception is thrown when different versions of the dependencies are being picked up and loaded by the process.
Are you deploying the application or a specific machine?
What type of application is being tested here? i.e console, ASP.NET, etc.
Make sure you are referencing the 11.2.0.1.1 assembly and that DLLPATH in the registry to pointing to the proper location for its dependencies.
Make sure there are no old versions of the ODP dependencies in the application/bin directory and that you are picking up the assembly from the GAC.

Hello all
I want to connect my Java code with a database which contents UserID, password and host name. But I don't know how to set a driver name and how to use Tomcat. I use MySQL to create the database. Sorry I have just started with Java for 1 month so there are a lot of thing I dont know. Could you explain clearly. Thank you all very much.Learning how to connect to databases and using Tomcat are two very different things. Rather than swallow the whole problem at once, see if you can make a POJO connect to a database first. Then learn how to deploy a servlet in Tomcat. Once you master both of those you can write a servlet that will instantiate your already-working POJO database object and you're done.

Connecting Access Databases remotely?
Currently:
Currently I have a Java application which performs all I wanted and the limitation in it is "It only resides on the Local machine for which it needs to work". I have the Microsoft Access Databases located on a Remote Server and I install the Java app on the remote server to connect the databases using a connectionString "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=D:\DATA\DPPI\DATA\DPPI\DPPIPR01.mdb"; It connects to Access Databases and do all the bussiness logics with them.
Enhancements (to be done):
1. Making the application online - not a big issue.
2. Connecting the databases remotely - its the only concern.
So, if I make the Application Online the Access Databases need to be connecting through network (somewhat like ip or some web address).
Problem:
But after going through this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11388277/connect-to-access-database-remotely, it seems my requirement can not be completed.
Is there any way if I'm able to upload the database to the online web hosting server and access the database from there only? If yes, then how should I do the connectivity since Access Database connects by giving the fully qualified name containing drive letter and all. But how should I proceed further so that I may be able to connect the mdb Databases remotely?
ADO .Net Solution:
After going through the link:
http://webcheatsheet.com/ASP/access_connection_strings.php , it seems we can perform remote Access Database connectivity.
The solution for the ADO is something like:
connectionString="Provider=MS Remote; Remote Server=http://your_remote_server_ip;" &_ "Remote Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=c:\your_database_name.mdb"
I'm a tad confused to how Access Database we can connect.
EDIT
There is one more question in my head.
I'm making use of Type-1 Driver. By making use of Type-4 Driver like HXTT Access(http://www.hxtt.com/access.html), a commercial type 4 driver for MS Access, supports it. But is there any open source Type-4 Driver like this?
Edited by: Sanchit Java Dev on May 29, 2013 9:54 PMThanks for your responses guys. It seems I'm heading in a right direction (but can't completely say as I would also like to be concerned about the performance issues.)
For the time being I would like to consider this approach until it is fully confirmed.
Please let me know if I'm proceeding in a right way? (developed a webservice using Jax-ws testing application)
1. I wrote a Jax-ws webservice published and tested on the localhost - its returning the response (tested using Soap-Ui).
So, I would like to have the same application to be acting as a Server to be deployed on the Server housing the Microsoft Access Databases. It would connect the database and return the result to be consumed from Client.
2. From the other end I opened the Soap-Ui such that I edited the Endpoint like: (this call would be actually made from the Online Application)
Previous End point of the Wsdl- http://localhost:8080/myService/services/Invoker - tried and tested
Edited End point of the Wsdl for testing - http://remoteIp:8080/myService/services/Invoker
I got the Error stating:
ERROR:org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to http://192.168.1.6:8080 refused.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or is there a special requirements for calling the services remotely?
EDIT
I took the IP address by executing ipconfig.

Problem with reached maximum number of connections to database
Dear Experts,
Our Production system was not responding properly last week.
The below was the reply from the Basis team.
"It seems that we have again problem with reached maximum number of connections to database. We have extended this number to 100 this year and now it seems that it’s not enough again. It seems that something is running on Production, which takes over too many connections."
They have increased the number to 200 as a work around.
Do we have any means to find out, which component or application is causing the issue.
Please advise me if any better way is available to correct the issue.
Please see the below trace.

It may happened that jar has not been synchronized with the database and may be version mismatch with the java.

ATG CIM: Not able to connect to database jdbc:oracle:thin
Hi All,
I am trying to setup a ATG environment on windows boxes. Below is the setup:
VM1) DC - Windows Domain Controller (Windows Server 2008)
VM2) javadb - Oracle 11g (Windows Server 2008)
VM3) javaweb - ATG 10.0.3 / WebLogic wlserver_10.3/ TomCat 7 (Windows Server 2008)
Installation / Setup Progress
* Oracle 11g installation successful. Sample DB successfully created.
* WebLogic installation successful. Base_Domain successfully created.
* Able to create successful connection to Oracle (javadb vm) from TomCat (javaweb vm) and query data
Error: When configuring CIM I keep on getting >> "Not able to connect to database jdbc:oracle:thin:@javadb:1521:SampleDB @ scott"+_
Corrective action already taken:
1) Disabled firewall on all boxes
2) Added path of JDBC driver (ojdbc6.jar) in Environment Variables
3) Tested Oracle 11g (javadb vm) connectivity both from Eclipse and Tomcat. Which is successful
4) Cleared all files under C:\ATG\ATG10.0.3\CIM\data to reset CIM
Please refer CIM details below:

Edited by: 948180 on Jul 23, 2012 11:29 PMHi,
Earlier my ojdbc6.jar path was not at the beginning of ClassPath. I have made necessary changes. Please refer below:
Environment Variables Settings on machine where CIM resides:
PATH = C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\ojdbc6.jar+;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin;C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\bin;C:\Program Files\cvsnt;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0\bin;C:\Program Files\Sun\JavaDB\bin;C:\Program Files\Sun\JavaDB\lib;;C:\ATG\ATG10.0.3\MySQL\win32\bin;C:\ATG\ATG10.0.3\home\bin\;C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\;
Note: I have verified by ojdbc6.jar path.
Below are the precise steps I executed after updating my environment variables and restarting CMD.

Deploying example ejb's to database
I have installed 9ias on windows 2000 server, my database is on another machine running windows nt.
I'm trying to deploy the bean to the database using the deployejb.bat and am having trouble.
Question: 1
I have run (lnsrctl services) on the database machine it shows 3 service handlers but i do not see an iiop listener here, but when i run (netstat -a) i see port 2481 is listening. Is there any other steps that I can go through to check to make sure the database is actually listening and set up right.
Question: 2
I have 9ias running and installed on another machine windows 2000 server. when I run the deployejb.bat i get an cannot connect to service: sess_iiop://machinename:2481:sid where machinename is the machine that 9ias is installed and running. I ran sess_sh and I get a javax.naming.CommunicationException: Unknown service: :session1 [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: Unknown service: ip:2481:sid]. I run netstat -a and my pc seems to be listening on port 2481. What am I missing here ? Is the sess_iiop service not running ? Is the service url that you provide supposed to include the machine name of the database or the machine name where 9ias is installed. Is there a service that talks from the 9ias machine to the database machine that allows you to deploy the beans to the database?
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks in Advance !!!>

Hi All-
Could you let me know the code to connect to database
in WebDynPro-->iviews.
Regards,
CrisHi,
Here are the two ways of connecting to a database through coding:
////1////
Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
java.sql.Connection conn= java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<IP>:<port>;user=<abc>;password=<xyz>;database=<DB name>");
////2////
InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
DataSource dataSource = (DataSource)initialContext.lookup("jdbc/SRI");
java.sql.Connection conn = dataSource.getConnection();
