Deployment.user.cachedir

I am trying to find deployment.user.cachedir System property from an applet. When I use System.getProperty"deployment.user.cachedir"); it returns null. However, I can list it out in the Java Console by dumping the environment (S) while my applet is running. Any ideas on how to get this to work?
deployment.system.profile = C:\WINDOWS
deployment.system.security.policy = file:/C:/WINDOWS/Sun/Java/Deployment/security/java.policy
deployment.user.cachedir = C:\Documents and Settings\DSmaltz\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
deployment.user.certs = C:\Documents and Settings\DSmaltz\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\deployment.certs
deployment.user.extdir = C:\Documents and Settings\DSmaltz\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\ext
deployment.user.home = C:\Documents and Settings\DSmaltz\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment
deployment.user.jssecerts = C:\Documents and Settings\DSmaltz\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\security\deployment.jssecerts
Thank You

Thank you for your response. I am using jdk1.3.1 and
jre 1.4.2_01 which I just downloaded the other day.
The properties did indeed list out in the console, but
I will check a previous jre to see if they are there
as well. I agree that if the property is available,
then it should return the value.5. What system properties can be read by applets, and how?
In both Java-enabled browsers and the appletviewer, applets can read these system properties by invoking System.getProperty(String key):
key               meaning
java.version          Java version number
java.vendor          Java vendor-specific string
java.vendor.url     Java vendor URL
java.class.version     Java class version number
os.name          Operating system name
os.arch          Operating system architecture
os.version     Operating system version
file.separator     File separator (eg, "/")
path.separator     Path separator (eg, ":")
line.separator     Line separator
Applets are prevented from reading these system properties:
key               meaning
java.home          Java installation directory
java.class.path     Java classpath
user.name          User account name
user.home          User home directory
user.dir          User's current working directory
To read a system property from within an applet, simply invoke System.getProperty(key) on the property you are interested in.

  • Setting system level deployment.user.cachedir in deployment.config

    G'day,
    I've been experimenting with JRE 1.5.0_04 on Windows XP.
    By default deployment.user.cachedir is set to <user home>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache. However, I want it to be <user home>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache.
    I have managed this as follows.
    C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.config contains:
    deployment.system.config=file\:C\:/WINDOWS/Sun/Java/Deployment/deployment.propertiesand C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties contains:
    deployment.user.cachedir=$USER_HOME\\..\\..\\..\\..\\Local Settings\\Application Data\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\cacheThis works but is ugly. The problem is that $USER_HOME=<user home>\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment. It seems that $USER_HOME and $JRE_HOME are the only two variables for use in deployment properties. Are there any others, in particular, one that mirrors the user's actual home directory?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    G'day,
    Open the Java Console and execute "dump system and
    deployment properties" which shows property values,
    and see if what you want is there.Thanks, but I don't think I can use these at the system level, can I?
    I did try using ${user.home} but that doesn't work.
    So, are there any variables other than $USER_HOME and $JRE_HOME that can be used when setting system level properties?

  • Redirection of deployment.user.cachedir to Windows Temp-directory

    Hello,
    I have a problem with the configuration of the cache-directory on a Windows Terminal-Server.
    On a Windows Terminal-Server each registered user gets a Windows temp-directory, which can be seen in variable %TEMP% and looks like "D:\temp\1" or "D:\temp\2" and so on.
    Now I want to redirect the cache-directory, set in file deployment.properties, property deployment.user.cachedir, to that temp-directory for the user.
    How can I configure JavaWS correctly ?
    Please help !! Thanks in advance

  • What is deployment.system.cachedir?

    Hello,
    I am curious about a property key in the deployment.properties file.
    deployment.system.cachedir
    I have tried very hard to RTFM, yet I am unable to find anything other than the following:
    "System-level cache directory"
    Please, can you explain the purpose and usage of this property?
    Many thanks in advance.
    -paul janda

    I have already looked at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/index.html
    All it says is:
    deployment.system.cachdir is:
    "System-level cache directory"
    Please, can you explain the purpose and usage of this property? If you know of a specific manual, I'm appreciative of the reference. If you would mention an actual quotation that goes beyond what I have already displayed, my gratitude would rise to the level of eternal.

  • -Ddeployment.user.cachedir belongs to which class?

    I've posted this in another forum, but I think it might be better located here...
    We have Java runtime j2re_1.4.1 installed across our network, and we are making modifcations to how user profiles are handled that means we need to relcoate the user cache directory from %userprofile%\Application data\Sun... to a new location.
    Everything I have found to date offers a solution to doing this with a new install by using the -Ddeployment.user.cachedir property, but I'm wanting to do this to an existing installation.
    Am I still able to use this property from command line with the java executable, and if so to which class should I be applying it? When I try it on its own, I get the following:
    C:\>java -Ddeployment.user.cachedir = "C:\temp"
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: =
    If I remove the whitespaces around the = sign, I simply get output for the correct usage of the java executable.
    Am I barking up entirely the wrong tree? Or am I merely missing something here? Any help would be really appreciated at this point...
    Thank you!

  • Deploy user for automatic deployment on development system

    Hi everybody,
    I am not sure what user to configure in the "Runtime Systems" tab of my track configurations.
    We use AS Javas of the Version 7.1 EHP1 as runtime systems. Thus we use the deploy controller for deploying. So far we just have used the personal user of whoever created the track as deploy user. Is this the recommended way? Or should we better use some technical user for automatic deployment? If yes, which permissions should this user have?
    Thanks in advance for your help!
    Tobias

    Hi Satya
    Thanks for the quick answer. Do you happen to know if a separate technical user for CMS deployment ist the "standard"/best practice?
    Best regards,
    Tobias

  • Deploying user certificates to all users

    I need to deploy user certificates to all my employees. It will save me from sending them an email to load up mmc, click on certificates and then go down to user>personal and right click and request user certificate.
    I checked the user certificate permissions and domain users has enroll and read as allowed. There is no auto enroll. I then created a group policy under user configuration>Windows Settings> Security Settings>Public Key Policies.
    Under public key policies, I enabled the certificate services celient - certificate enrollment policy and checked the box for active directory enrollment. I then clicked on Certificate services client - auto enrollment and enabled it check the boxes to update
    certificates that use cert templates and renew expired certificates.
    Next I applied the GPO on the root of the domain using authenticated users for security group on the GPO so all users get it. Since I have pushed it, when I check all system using MMC> certificates no one has a user certificate. Can someone explain why
    this is not working?

    Hi,
    >>I am using windows server 2008 R2. Should I see an autoenroll permission for this user template?
    As far as I know, to enable autoenrollment, users should be granted Read, Enroll, and Autoenroll permissions.
    Regarding how to configure certificate enrollment, the following articles can be referred to as reference.

  • How to deploy user controls containing licensed components?

    I have a custom control incorporating licensed components from NationalInstruments.UI.WindowsForms.
    I want to take the custom control to a computer that does not have Measurement Studio installed, add it to the toolbox, and drop the control onto a form.
    I am using Measurement Studio 2013, Visual Studio 2010, and targeting the x86 CPU, and using the .NET 3.5 framework.
    The ability seems to work only when Measurement Studio is also installed and licensed on the other machine.
    The following descries what happens.
    Reproduction
    On a computer with Measurement Studio 2013 Standard installed:
    Start Visual Studio 2010
    Create a new Class Library
    Create a new User Control
    Add a waveFormGraph and Legend in the designer
    Compile the project
    Deploy the library according to the help topic "Measurement Studio .NET XCOPY Deployment Files"
    On another computer without Measurement Studio:
    Get the deployed library
    Start Visual Studio 2010
    Create a new Windows Forms Application
    Open the Form in design mode
    Add the deployed User Control to the toolbox items
    Drag a new User Control into the form
    I see the following message popping up:
    The control is not actually added as a consequence.
    Am I missing some licensing detail or making a mistake during deployment/redistribution?
    I have seen a previous post on this here in this forum , however, it is over a year old now and there was no solution posted.
    Some guidance or clarification would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    -Steve

    Hello GGS-AKR
    I have been able to reproduce the issue in my end by only de-activating the license in the License Manager. What happens is that if you are going to use a Measurement Studio in a "design time" context, it will ask you for a license. According to NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT, it states:
    E. "Authorized Applications." Means ( i) those applications that you create with development versions of the
    SOFTWARE that you have validly licensed (including such applications that you create with third party
    software using real-time operating system components of the LabVIEW Real-Time Module and the
    LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Module in accordance with the licenses for such modules), and (ii) those
    applications that you create with third party software development environments and that utilize Driver
    Interface Software, if such software development environment is supported by such Driver Interface
    Software as indicated in the applicable Documentation for such Driver Interface Software. Notwithstanding
    the foregoing, (a) any application created with the Measurement Studio SOFTWARE is not an Authorized
    Application if it uses any Measurement Studio controls in a "design time" context, and (b) any application
    created with any SOFTWARE acquired under an evaluation license is not an Authorized Application.
    I hope this information helps you.

  • BPM Deployment - User Database

    Hi every one, I'd like get some reference how to integrate a user database(ldap directory/database system) with a bpm deployed process.
    Thanks for help
    Rodrigo

    Yes... The OIM uses an Internal Database...
    If it is OIM 11G R1 and R2, you can find the database information in the following location:-
    *$MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/oimdomain/config/jdbc*
    In this jdbc folder, there are some xml files.. One of them in oimOperationsDB-0237-jdbc.xml
    Here you will find the following entries:-
    <jdbc-driver-params>
    <url> jdbc:oracle:thin:@oim.database.host.com:1521/oimdb </url>
    <driver-name>oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource</driver-name>
    <properties>
    <property>
    <name>user</name>
    <value> DEV_OIM </value>
    </property>
    <property>
    <name>oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT</name>
    <value>10000</value>
    </property>
    </properties>
    *<password-encrypted>{AES}d2ersr32wer2r2rder2ncksnurr21uGWblbdB+/rcmgUk6F9iQI77JM8pK8owrtk=</password-encrypted>*
    </jdbc-driver-params>
    So there is one database on host machine oim.database.host.com, at port 1521... The SID is oimdb...
    And DEV_OIM is the name of the OIM Schema user...
    Consult your Database Administrator to obtain the decrypted value of the encrypted password..
    With these values you can use SQL Developer to connect to OIM Database...
    In this you will find USR table...
    In this table OIM stores the User Information you were looking for.
    And if it is OIM 9102,
    the xellerate/server/config/xlconfig.xml contains Database information:-
    <DirectDB>
              <driver>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</driver>
              <url> jdbc:oracle:thin:@oim.database.host.com:1521:oimdb </url>
              <username>oimdb</username>
              <password encrypted="true">ZlsdyCP213ddr32r4xXWkZZ+A==</password>
              <maxconnections>5</maxconnections>
              <idletimeout>360</idletimeout>
              <checkouttimeout>1200</checkouttimeout>
              <maxcheckout>1000</maxcheckout>
         </DirectDB>

  • Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) MUI, deploy, user's are seeing a Language Prompt upon first run?

    I am trying to deploy Adobe Reader X (10.1.2) MUI to Windows 7 64 systems VIA SCCM and the user's are seeing a Language Prompt upon first run.  They can click cancel it will open fine and not prompt again.  I have used Adobe Customization Wizard X and have it set to English there.  Here is the CMD line i'm using.
    msiexec /qb- /i "AcroRead.msi" TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst" ALLUSERS=1 LANG_ID=1033 PRODUCTLANGUAGE=1033.
    What can be done to resolve this prompt please?

    You have to set a few registry keys before you start it the first time:
    e.g for english(Windows XP but should work under Windows 7 too):
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\current]
    @="acrord32.dll"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\next]
    @="acrord32.dll"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\UseMUI]
    "UseMUI"=dword:00000000
    e.g for german:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language]
    "UI"="DEU"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\current]
    @="locale\\de_de\\rdlang32.deu"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\next]
    @="Locale\\de_DE\\RdLang32.DEU"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Language\UseMUI]
    "UseMUI"=dword:00000000
    If you do that the language is preset and no Language Prompt will be shown.

  • Clustering and deployment user setup

    Hi,
    I would like to install 2 instances of OC4J on the same middle tier host machine. One instance is for our development environment and the other instance is for pre-production. I have installed 9.0.2.1 Infrastructure on the box. After I install both instances of OC4J, do I need to cluster them ? I want each instance of OC4J to run independently but use the same infrastructure.
    Also for the development box, how can I set up a user account that only allows developers to hot deploy their applications from JDeveloper to the middle tier OC4J development instance ? I do not want to give them the ias_admin account since it also allows them to configure the instance.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Niel,
    Thanks for your reply.
    It took awhile to get back to you with the forum update then having to locate the post.
    Anyway, I tried what you say but the system would freeze after logging into the new user requiring a forced restart by power button. Then logging into the original admin acct to use the computer.
    Obviously I did something wrong.
    What I did:
    1. Copy admin user folder to shared
    2. Create new acct with admin rights
    3. Log out then log into new acct
    4. Rename new user home by adding a 2 to the end
    5. Copy admin user folder from shared to new user
    6. Rename original admin folder as the new user home folder
    I suspect #6 is where I went wrong, that or improper renaming?
    Maybe I should only copy over the SUB folders from admin to new user?
    Thanks

    Hi Experts,
    I need to get User details for the user who deploys par application from System Administration.
    In my landscape i came to know that Some one is re-deploying the few par application again and again,
    That has created so much of problem So i need to get the user details.
    Is there any way to track the user details ??
    The Par application is local development its not in NWDI Track.

    There are logs and traces created for the portal events in following areas:
    Log files - <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\serverX\log\system\security.log where role creation is an event, and is logged.
    Traces - <drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaultTrace.trc

  • Deployment user other then ias_admin

    Is there and way,I can create number of users to deploy j2ee applications to their respective OC4J instance?
    I do not want to give ias_admin password to developer but want to give them freedom to deploy the J2EE application on their individual OC4J instance

    Ok, so I found the solution to my second alternative:
    Alternatively, I would like to set up accounts with access to the EM Website (AS Control) so more users are alowed, without having to share the ias_admin password.Here's what I did:
    1. Stopped the AS Control
    2. Added <user>-entry and <member>-entry to OH/sysman/j2ee/config/jazn-data.xml (remember ! before the password to force encryption)
    3. Added <user name="myuser" /> entry under <security-role-mapping name="consoleadmins"> in the file OH/sysman/j2ee/config/em-app.xml
    4. Started AS Control
    I am now able to log on to the AS Control website with the new username.
    Steve stated that this was not supported under 9.0.4, so I guess it raises the question as to whether this is supported under my version 10.1.2 ?
    Also, I am still even more interested in a solution to my first alternative:
    I am also looking for a way to set up individual accounts with the required privileges to deploy applications to an OC4J instance.Input will be appreciated.

    Hi All,
    We recently upgraded to CRM 2015 online and face deployment issue every time we try to deploy our solutions. Log file says  "RetrievePrivilegeForUser failed - no roles are assigned to user" and this happens to be on a business rule for an

    Did any one face the same issue during the deployment? If so, can u help me in resolving the same.

    I know this post is a couple months old but for future reference:
    The problem is with /etc/hosts.allow
    You need to add
    httpd: ALL
    Once you all that youll have external access to your apache setup.
