Depot status repair

Hi
I had trouble with my toshiba laptop and send it to the depot for repairs and its almost been a month and I have received no information regarding my laptop. I have called customer service twice. I called once and was told that they do not do repairs on the weekends and was told to call back on monday. I called today and was told that it was on hold for parts and then I was transferred to the toshiba depot and was on hold for more than half an hour unfortunately I had to hang up since I was calling from my cell phone.
I did sign up for updates on my laptop to know how the repair are going and so far nothing.
I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes for the Toshiba depot to do repairs or if they know of  another number to call for more info?
thanks

Hi everyone well I am glad to say that yesterday the depot finally worked on my laptop and they finished yesterday. I checked the status and finally found out what repairs needed to be done apparently the system board needed to be replaced.
Here is the quick update :
Off Hold - Parts | SO#: T1- | "SENT TO TECH ROOM"
03/10/2010 01:00:00
Unit Repaired Waiting Shipment | SO#: T1- | "REPLACED SYSTEM BOARD FOR NO POWER"

Outbound Shipped | SO#: T1- | S L W R4 |  |

Also I already have the tracking number they haven't send it yet but ups does have the billing info.
Funny how they worked on the laptop so fast  after one angry call, telling them to extend my warranty if it takes any longer, and telling them that I need my laptop now. lol they did tell me if it took another week they would give me other alternatives I wonder what those would of been maybe a new laptop?
I will update once it arrives to let you all know if it arrived in the same condition I send it to them. The laptop was fairly new only two months old it was still a baby T^T.

  • Laptop successfully delivered to Texas repair depot, but Depot status still says it isn't received

I mailed my laptop in because the hard drive went out and I watched the tracking until this morning and it says it was successfully delivered at 9:42 AM and the depot status still says it was not received even though it is 3 PM. The tech support people said they would send an email to the check in manager but I have no idea if that will solve anything.

Don't sweat it, because it takes a few hours for the US depot computer, to sync up with the main support website page.

  • How do I get my MacBook pro to the depot for repair?

MacBook has keyboard problems. How do I send it to the depot for repair? Telephone support gave me an address depot.info.apple.com but that just swing me back to the express lane for advice.
    Thanks for your help,
    Cx

The way it has worked for me in the past was
    1. call Applecare
    2. once they decide it needed to be sent in for service, they arrange with their shipper to have a box dropped off (used to be Airborne express, not sure who they use now)
    3. shipper drops off box with all packing material (tape, foam, instructions) and a shipping lable.
aside - back up your hard drive!! Apple will not contact you if anything they do involves reinstalling the OS and wiping the drive to do it - it is entirely up to you to safe guard your data BEFORE sending it off to Apple.  Also might want to de-authorizse the machine in iTunes incase any hardware repairs change the hardware ID of the machine and you have to use another authorization when you get it back to get iTunes to recognize it.
    4. user packs up machine, calls shipper to arrange a pickup
    5. shipper picks up box - off to Apple, repaired and returned
These were for in-warranty (or AppleCare extended period) repairs.  I think if out of warranty, they require a credit card number to charge the shipping to.

There is no way any fellow user here can know anything specific about your repair status.  You will need to call Apple and ask them yourself.

  • Flat rate for Apple Depot screen repair?  Downside?

I'm sure I could have found a better place for this, apologies in advance.
My friend's A1226 display is glowing, but striped and basically not working. Took it to a store and they said $450 repair in-store, $350 for the Apple depot. Are they assuming the display is no good, even though it might just be the cable? Is that covering a display repair? Is there a downside to the depot service, is it warrantied? I suggested he take that route as I didn't want to be involved in repairing the LCD, expensive proposition and dangerous if I mess it up or the issue is not the LCD. Is it going to get to the depot only to have them say its more?
Appreciate any guidance you can give.

Here is my experiance with Apple Depot...
Like many 2011 macbook pro my screen started to act up and ended up turning off (reports of issues with the GPU - logic board)
Took it to Apple, gave me 2 options...
1-In store repair which would cost more than $900 only for the logic board 0_o
    2-Depot repair for $310
    Guess which i chose?!..
Sent my 2011 macbook pro on wednsday and recieved it on the following tuesday
Depot replaced my logic board, memory ram, screen hinges AND battery...
    All for $310

  • HDD SMART status repair

    Hi !
I have a Mid 2011 Mac mini with 500 GB Toshiba MK series HDD. I have made 2 partitions as below :
    1 ) 435 GB : Mac osX lion
    2 ) 65 GB : Mac osX Mountain Lion
Few Months back I found a SMART status failure error while I was upgrading to Mavericks. The error told me that the disk contains bad sectors and hence update installation can't continue.I installed few tolls to check SMART status and found that I have 'Reallocated Sector Count' parameter showing RED (Pre-Failure) and the count is 1 and threshold value is 50.The Disk utility no more shows options (Erase, Partition etc...) for '500 GB Macintosh HD' but shows all other things same for both the volumes (Partitions) I have created.
    My questions are :
1 ) Is it possible that I cant install/update/Upgrade to latest OSX due to this SMART status failure error ( though even after failing for SMART status, everything works fine w/o even having an effect on Speed and performance) ?
2 ) Is Zeroing the any of Volume/Partition would fix bad sectors and I can install the new OS version ?
3 ) Is it required to ZEROING whole physical hard disk ? If so Should I choose ERASE option from Disk Utility or some other best way to do it ?

I would replace the HD. Most of the time when you get SMART errors the disk if failing fast.
You can have a fail disk even without SMART errors.

  • New PB already at Apple Repair Depot

Got my great new 17in. PB and had to take it in to an Apple store straight away... The right rear fan was always running, right from start up, with practically no CPU usage, no strange apps, nothing - right out of the box this approx. $3k machine was not right.
It's been at the depot for nearly a week now and the latest 'update' is 'hold-engineering'... been like that for days. When I finally got someone at Applecare to contact the depot for a REAL update, they said they were awaiting testing software. The main repair depot of Apple didn't have the necessary equipment to test my PB? This is crazy. So here I am, typing away on my 2001 TiBook wondering if I've purchased a lemon - but more importantly wondering why the company I love was not properly set up to repair and fix their newest products. When something like this comes up, it should be standard to replace the machine and deal with the troubled unit/poor preparation, internally.
Just my two cents from a true Mac fan who's just slightly disappointed.

I agree 100%. I ordered a 17" several minutes after the new ones were released on Oct 19th. I received it exactly one week later. Upon booting it up, there was a dead pixel near the center of the screen. I tried to live it but couldn't. Then I noticed something else. The lid was not aligned properly with the base of the PB. I called Apple on Oct 22nd and spoke with a rep. I explained my problems and he asked me to take it to the Apple Store to have a genius look at it. I took it there and explained my problems. The genius checked it out and for the most part agreed with me. He typed up a case and gave me the case number. I called Apple the next day and gave them the case number. The rep pulled it up and asked, "Ok, where would you like me to send the box?" I asked, "What box?" He explained he was going to send a box to have me put my PB in and send back to the repair depot for repairs. I disagreed and said I want a new one. After an hour on the phone arguing with 4 different reps that this PB was obviously defective, they decided to replace it. They made sure to let me know that normally, there would be a restocking fee because it was a BTO with the 7200rpm drive but they were willing to make an exception under this circumstance. Whatever, just give me what I paid for. The rep created a work order and gave me the information to track the status of my new PB. On Oct. 24th, my new PB was shipped out and I received Oct. 28th. Pretty quick! The only thing that bites was I had to pay for the shipping to send the previous PB back. But that's ok. I got another brand new PB and this one is excellent! No dead pixels and a perfectly aligned lid. =)
Call Apple and complain. Be polite yet firm. It will get you a long way. Express the fact that you are not happy and would like some satisfaction. It works great.

  • Shady depot service and customer service agents

I bought a U400 back in March, refurbished from Lenovo's outlet site. When I received it I noticed that the touchpad scroll option was not functioning, nor were some of the hot keys (touchpad on/off and CD eject). Under warranty, I sent it in to be fixed and received it back with the same issues. As a student I couldn't afford to send it back a second time.
I sent it back this month since I am on break, however, and thankfully...I checked my depot status and realized that my PC was on hold because some repairs were not covered under my warranty.
I called...and the people told me that my laptop was damaged and could not fix my touchpad unless I paid $180 to get it fixed. They could not tell me WHAT was broken though. The only damage that I know of is an unnoticeable impression on the top of my laptop which is where the LCD monitor lays. According to one agent, there are wires behind the LCD screen which connects to the touchpad. I checked on this forum where someone replaced their LCD screen and behind the screen...no wires where my impression is...
They said they would email the technicians to fix the touchpad regardless of the damage done.  Next day...the status changed and that I have denied repairs and my laptop will be sent back shortly...
I called...again...and talked to more agents who still could not tell me exactly what the damage was.  Finally some agent "found" a picture attached to my case number. She sent me this picture: http://tinypic.com/r/8zi342/6
I definitely did not send my laptop that way. The agent then escalated the issue and told me that my laptop would be fixed along with the damages. I spoke with someone today to change the address where my laptop is being sent and he mentioned that he never heard of a laptop being damaged (which I believe is total BS since there are posts and inquiries about lost laptops and mysterious damages on this forum...). He also kept stressing that lenovo will not cover physical damage to the computer and would not comment on whether or not lenovo would fix this due to a fault of the carriers...which makes me feel very uneasy on whether or not they will fix this for me.  I asked if there is nothing about my laptop being fixed on the comments...and he said that the issue has been escalated and basically he is not at liberty to say if my laptop will be fixed or not...since from his experience he never had to deal with a device being broken during shipment.
I just want an update and I don't want my laptop sent back to me with damage that would have never happened if I never sent it to be repaired.  Also...this issue with the touchpad and hotkeys has been an issue since the day I received my laptop.  Under warranty I feel like I should be granted those repairs.

    Hi TerryJo,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • Unacceptable delay in repair

    Hi,
I have send my laptop to Toshiba depot for repair, because one fine morning the laptop stopped functioning.   The depot received my laptop through ups on December 21, 2010. Reference number <removed>, serial no <removed>  Till now the status is "repair in progress" and every time when I make a call to customer care or case managers they are asking me to wait for another 7-10 business days.   I am hearing the same excuse from the day when the depot received my laptop.   I am a student at State University of New York at Buffalo and I bought this laptop just for my studies.   I am currently managing my assignments and group projects by staying late in library.   I won't be able to hang on with my studies with out affecting my grades if there is further delay in delivering my laptop.  So I request you to either expedite my laptop repair or refund my money so that I can buy a new laptop. And one more thing.  The case managers are very rude and they are not even letting me talk to their supervisors.   All I am asking is either you provide my laptop repaired quickly or give a a laptop for loan untill you guys repair my laptop.   For that they say that they cannot provide any of these alternatives and the only alternative they can provide me is to wait.   So I asked them if  they cannot have any authority to take such decision then let me talk to their supervisors or some one who can take such decisions and for that they say they are the top level in the company and there is no one else they report to.
    Best Regards
    Makesh Nayar

This is exactly what I'm afraid of with sending my 8 month old A505 off to the dreaded "repair depot". First I bought it because I was so happy with my first Toshiba. Now after getting an inferior product, and even worse response by tech support, I've already posted on Facebook to not buy Toshiba products. I just started a new business that depends on internet access....I can't be without my PC for 2 days, nevermind the supposed 7-10 AFTER they receive it!!! Toshiba needs to step up and make some big changes here!!! I feel my model is clearly a lemon, I have the display issue, no sound from one speaker, and doesn't read external media most of the time.....nearly $1,000 and get less than 8 months from it? REALLY????? And it's not like I abuse the thing,,,,it's never moved off my desk.....I clean the fan, etc., regularly...treat it properly, and that's what I get?? And total lack of response!! Nobody can ever do anything!! If my business suffers because I have to wait for repairs, I'll be going to small claims court on them....I've had it!! You're right about the techs too....they can't be understood, then they get rude because you ask them to repeat themselves, and they want you to believe they have no bosses!!!! I'm supposed to call customer service tomorrow.....I hope I've calmed down by then....I'm generally pretty reasonable, but this is BS!! Just let those of us with warranties take it back to where we bought it and get it replaced if you won't let them repair it!! I'm afraid I'll never see it again if I have to send it!!

  • T440s Depot Service

My Thinkpad T440s (Type: 20AQ) was sent to your depot on March 30th for an LCD replacement due to a pixel problem (Case Ref. number: CNBJRZZ). Thereafter, it was put on hold for parts for a week because the LCD was unavailable and then shipped back on April 8th. However, upon receiving the laptop back I found out that the original 1920 X 1080 IPS screen was downgraded to a shoddy 1600 X 900 TN non-IPS display! Therefore, after waiting for over a week, I get the laptop back only to be downgraded and now I have to go through this vicious cycle all over again.
Upon contacting your support regarding your depot repair, a new case was opened (Ref. number: CQM9TSL) and I had to send my laptop back to the depot to replace the LCD. Nevertheless, according to your current depot status, my machine has been under repair at your depot for over 24 hours! An LCD replacement does not take more than half an hour, especially when the customer themselves provide you with the correct FRU: 04X0436.
Therefore, keeping in mind all the inconvenience I have already been put through and given the prior incompetence of your depot repair, I request my case be escalated. The least you can do is check on the current repair status and let me know what exactly is being done to provide my laptop back to me in its original configuration.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Final Update: My Thinkpad T440s was returned to me today with the correct screen (FRU: 04X0436) installed. I would especially like to thank Terry McCarthy (Case Manager, Executive relations, Lenovo Customer Care), who reached out to me, expedited the process, and ensured that I received the correct screen at the depot repair. I truly appreciate the prompt and efficient customer service provided to me by Lenovo/IBM.

  • Sent U510 in for warranty repair (HDD Failure) and am told the HDD was replaced, but it was not.

I told them that I ran a diagnostic and the HD shows as failed.  I ran several tests and it's booting up slow, crashing, freezing, etc.    Seemed to be a pretty clear situation.  I would fix it myself but money is tight and I don't want to void my warranty by doing so.  I called up and explained this.
So I sent it in over a month ago and patiently await information.  The Depot Status page showed me that they have determined the failing part and were waiting for the part to become in stock.  I thought this was odd, because hard drives should be a dime a dozen in a repair facility.  Still... I waited patiently.
Finally, my laptop comes back to me on Monday the 19th!  I open it up and the invoice inside says that a SSD drive was replaced... My main drive was not replaced but the 24GB SSD allegedly was.  I had some things installed onto the SSD, so I turned it on to take a look.  None of my data is gone.  The system looks/works JUST as it did when I sent it out!  It's still slow, the HD still fails the tests, and all my data is there as if NOTHING was done at all!
Now I'm livid.  I sent it out and waited nearly a month for this and it looks as if NOTHING has been done.  Worse than that, the invoice claims that a drive was replaced when it's clear that's a lie.  I'm completely beside myself now.  What do I do?  Who on Earth do I contact to get this taken care of in a timely manner!

Control-click on the background of the view all pages window and select "Preview Calendar" from the contextual menu.
You can also save the pdf as a file to compare to the printed calendar.  If the two names are visible in the pdf file then the printed copy should show them.  Contact Apple for a refund.  Apple Print Products - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • Absurd keyboard repair issue question

So I've had issues with the space key not working well on my MacBook Pro for awhile, and I finally took it into the local Apple store to have them look at it. Apparently the sensor's not working and needs to be fixed. Here's the absurd part. $330.00 to replace the entire top part of the computer due to the unibody construction. $330.00 to fix the space key? And a seven day wait for the repair? Seem reasonable?

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
If they are sending it to the Apple Depot for repair, that price is for the Depot to fix anything that needs fixing to get the system as close as possible to it's original condition when new. 7 day turnaround is about what it takes. When I had a logic board replaced in one of our systems, it went to the Depot in Houston, Tx. Ask the store if it's an in store repair or being sent to the Apple Depot. Some things are more expensive if repaired in the store.
