Depreciation for subsequent acquisitions not posted in following month.

Hello Experts,
I had a problem with subsequest acquisition - after posting depreciation was not distributed equally during follwing months. As Paul and Markus advised per note 92260, the period control method should has been set on "06"(start of year). [here is link on that thread|depreciation calculation after acquistion; This was done and the depreciation amounts are now planned correctly, the only problem is the change in depreciation after acquistion reflected in month of change not in the following month as required.
I mean: i.e. additional acquistion is done in 05/2009, but the depreciation should change from 06/2009 and so on...
Can you help how to set up this in period control method?(OAVH, OAHS)
Thank you !

  • Bonus Depreciation for subsequent acquisitions in 2010

    Hi all,
We have done bonus depreciation for 2010 and 2011 aand its working fine but for one scenario.
Assets acquired in 2009, had bonus depreciation calculated for 2009. But when there is subsequent acquisition in 2010, its not calculating bonus depreciation for the 2010 acquisitions. We are not using any sub asset concept but are adding to the original asset.
Please let me know how to ptoceed ahead.
    Thanks a lot in advance,

    Hello Jay-R
I have the same question the multi level method maintained as below
My requirement is I need 50% reduction on the asset addition therefore for the year 2015 it should be 500 in reduction since there is 1000 addition to the asset. Please provide me your input on how I can achieve this.

  • Depreciation for additions to start from the following month

    Hi Gurus,
Have situation in depreciation posting, When acquisition happens depreciation has to start from next period on wards (Dep not to post in Acq period) this is working fine and good. (period control maintained as 11 for Acq)
In the same way it has to apply for Additions if any happens for existing Acquisitions. Period control set as next month 11 for additions, but system making the posting in acquisition period itself including catchup of previous periods from oredinary dep starting.
I want make the system to start depreciating dep from the following period rather than acquisition period for Additions and catcup dep also post in this from Ordinary depreciation start date .
    Example of Issue:
    Acquisitions:
Acquisition happend in Period-01, dep started from next period "02"
    This working fine.
    Addiotions:
    Using the above example
Addition happend in period-05, Dep started from-05 including the catch up dep of periods; 02,03,04,05.
By right the depreciation posting has to starts in the following Perios 06, has to consider Catchup amounts also.
Any help on the above are appreciated most.
    Points are available
    Thanks in advance,
    Vyas

    Hi Milosavljevic,
On the above system behaviour is right, but we have to understand like below:
What ever posted the Depreciation amount in the acquissition month it belongs to accumilation depreciation of the addition of asset ( from ordinary dep start date to untill acquissition period). These happend bcoz of catchup, the real depreciation was started from the following month onwards..
Hope this understanding made me clear...
If u able to find any thing better pla keep share..
Others plz comment on this for better understanding.
    Thanks,
    Vyas

  • Can SAP run the depreciation for closed Period and posting to diff month?

My client forgot to run the depreciation for Jan 2011, and now the Jan period has been closed and report also done.
My solution was to re-open the Jan and does the depreciation, once completed reclassify Jan depreciation posting to Feb 2011 manually.
I am just wandering whether SAP can handle this different way.
Can SAP performs Jan (Closed Period) depreciation and post to Feb period automatically or any other suggestions?
    Cheers

    Hi
    Yes, you can do that

  • Credit memo for subsequent acquisitions in Fixed Assets

According to the Fixed Asset help file - section Credit memo for Subsequent Acquisitions it Says " Fixed Assets *DOES NOT* allow posting a credit memo for a subsequent acquistion.  What are the exactt circumstances in which Fixed Assets will block these credit memos. I have added subsequent Acquisitions and Fixed Assets appears to allow credit memo's where depreaction has not been run and also where depreciation has  not been run. How does this blocking mechanism work?

    Hi John
It appears that there is no good answer to your question.  From my undertstanding, the SAP Fixed Assets add-on is a very basic solution, and does not anticipate many of the changes that can occur once an Asset is acquired.  Frankly, it is pretty basic when handling the initial acquisition.
Not that this will help you with this particular install, but the Fixed Assets add-on from B1 Fixed Assets LLC does a very thorough job of creating Assets, where you can use any or all of Invoices, Credit Memos, and Journal Entries, mixing and matching to create the Asset.  Once the Asset has be added, making Cost Adjustments is almost as thorough, and provides considerably more options to recognize the Cost Adjustment.  You can see a viedo of a relatively simple Asset Acquisition on YouTube (www.youtube.com/b1fixedassets).
Let me know how you get this issue resolved - I am very interested.

  • Fixed asset Write up Error. ABZU(Parallel depreciation area 32 is not poste

    Hi Sap Gurus,
I am running into an error when trying to post a write up via "ABZU". Here is the error message "Parallel depreciation area 32 is not posted". Message no. AA565.
    Diagnosis
The asset to be posted does not manage parallel depreciation area 32, or transaction type  that you are using is limited to certain depreciation areas, and does not contain depreciation area 32. This is incorrect.
    System Response
    Posting is rejected.
    Procedure
Check the asset and the transaction type.
I tried "Limit Transaction Types to Depreciation Areas" in t-code:OAXE for derpeciation area 01 and 32 but still i am getting the same error. I am using ttype:700. When i look into derpeciation tab in asset master record i have depreciation area 32 is there. Is there any configuration piece i am missing. We are using area 32 as IFRS in group which is copy of 01.
    Any help will be appreciate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Babu

    Hi,
    There are the following reasons:
    1) The wrong transaction type is being used.  Please verify that  you are using transaction type in the 700 series for your write-up.
    2) The transaction type is restricted to certain depreciation areas.   In transaction OAXE the transaction type can be restricted to post  only to certain areas.  If the asset manages a parallel area you  have to extend the posting to include the parallel area.
    3) The asset was created before you introduced parallel currencies and  does not manage the parallel area.  In this case, the parallel  area must be created on the asset or the values need to be  transferred to a new asset that manages the parallel area.
    4) Transacion types 600 and 601 can only be used for assets that have a  calculation key in their depreciation area that allows no automatic  calculation (for example depr key MANU).  The unplanned transaction types however can be used with assets that  allow automatic calculation.
You also need to verify that there are entries in Table ANLB for the  asset in question for the depreciation area.
    5) Your company code uses parallel currencies (currency types 10-co.code  currency, 50-Index based currency, 30-Group currency...for example).  The assets created in this company code must have the depreciation areas for parallel currencies active. You can only do this in activating the depreciation areas with  parallel currencies for all the asset classes used in this company code.
Check transaction OAYZ to make sure the areas are activated for all  asset classes in the co.code.  If not, you will need to       activate these areas and ensure the asset has all areas assigned.
    regards Bernhard

  • Parallel depreciation area 04 is not posted.(Assets)

    Hi All,
I have found below mentioned error at the time of Advance knocking off.(F-54)
Parallel depreciation area 04 is not posted.
I have found below mentioned error at the time of Advance knocking off.
    The error message number :AA565
The Asset to be posted does  not manage parallel depreciation area 04,or transaction type that you are using is limited to certain depreciation areas and does not contain depreciation area 04. This is incorrect.
Please help out for this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ram

    Hi Ram
With regards to the issue, if you have activated the use of parallel currencies, all assets created in this company code must have the depreciation areas for parallel currencies active. You can only do this by activating the depreciation areas with parallel currencies for all the asset classes used in this company code. Check transaction OAYZ to make sure the areas are activated for all asset classes in the co.code . If not, you will need to activate these areas and ensure the asset has
    all areas assigned.
Another reason why the error message appeared could be the asset was created before you introduced parallel currencies and does not manage the parallel area. In this case, the parallel area must be created on the asset or the values need to be transferred to new asset that manages the parallel area.
    I hope this information helps.
    Best regards
    George

  • Cenvat Adjustment for subsequent credit/debit posted

    Hi Everybody,
Is it necessary to do  Cenvat Adsjustment in J1IH for subsequent credit/debit posted against PO.
If  i want to do adjustment how to do and for  subsequent credit what's the option to be choose in J1IH and same for the subsequent debit.
    Regards
    Govindaraj

    Hello Rish,
Please, be aware that if you look at the document at MIR4/MIRO etc, they will apear as a INVOICE/CREDIT MEMO (in the "Drop down" box, in the top of transaction)even if they are sub. credit/deb, but that is the standard system behavior ! In order to check if it is a Subcequent debit/credit, you can check directly into rbkp table or even better, just check in the PO history! it will be in a separate category !
Give it a check if this is not the case!
    Regards!

  • Error: Parallel depreciation area 31 is not posted

    Hi experts,
Hi have customized 5 depreciation areas:
01 book depreciation in local currency
30 deferred balance sheet in local currency (for different useful life)
31 deferred balance sheet in group currency
32 book depreciation in group currency
    60 derived depreciation area
I specified that 30 will get values from 01; 31 will get from 30; 32 will get from 01; plus one derived for 01 and 30 difference.
Then when I entered asset values in F-02 using transaction type 100, I get this error. Please help. Thank you.

    Hi John.
In "Specify use of Parallel Currency" setup your currencies type/Valuation view.
In Currency Type/Valuation View, against area 31 maintain it for 31 (Group Currency Group Valuation) and against area 40 maintain 40 (Hard Currency). Transfer of Deprecation terms setup from Deprecation
    area “01”.  Setup like below.
    Now go to below
Maintain your currency as per requirement and see if changes are updated as per above configuration (I mean valuation id is "01" for your depreciation area, try to execute your transaction and let me know if it’s working.
After that go to define depreciation area and see if your depreciation area setting for 01, 31 and 40 is same. Please try to check in Sandbox first.
Please mark it as correct if your problem resolves, so it would be useful for other as well.

I have checked all the relevant settings which might cause the above error, but, in vain.
Parallel currencies for the Co.Code are configured:
1st locl cur: INR; Type: 10 - Company code currency
2nd locl cur: EUR; Type: 30 - Group currency
3rd locl cur: USD; Type: 40 - Hard currency
Transfer of dep terms, transfer of APC values & Identical terms for depreciation areas are seemed to be correct. config screen prints attached below.
Still unable to trace out the root cause of this error.
Kindly provide your inputs to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Kesav

    Hi Vivek,
    Thanks for your response.
Parallel depreciation areas were deactivated earlier. I have activated them now. I also have inserted parallel dep areas through AFBN as they were missing in the assets.
After the above changes, system allowed me to post unplanned depreciation.

  • Depreciation for additional acquisition

    Hello,
I had the below requirement, Could you please help if anybody had any idea on this issue..
If i purchased additional acquisition in 3 rd month (Use ful life of asset is 12 months)  say for ex: Asset Value is 2700/-
From 3rd month onwards it should post 2700/9M=300 per month so that end of the month the asset value will be "zero"
But as per my customizing it is calculating like this:
If the asset value is 2700 which i purchased in 3rd month it is posting dep as 1 Month -200
                           2 Month-200
                           3 Month-200+900=1100
4 Month- 200+300=500(200 is normal value)
                           5 Month -200+300=500
Here it is calculation 2700/12 month and equally distributing, i don't want to calculate for first 3 months,
Hope there must be some control for additional acquisition, i have checked period control also, but still getting the same problem.
Can anybody help on this, as it is very urgent for me..
    Many tx,
    Veena

    Hi,
ok, I understand what you mean. With reference to my example, a subsequent acquisition:
    01.07.2008     300,00     100     External asset acquisition     EUR
    produced the following situation:
    4     300,00-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    5     300,00-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    6     300,00-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    7     433,33-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    8     333,34-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    9     333,33-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    10     333,33-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    11     333,34-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
    12     333,33-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
         3.000,00-     0,00     0,00     0,00     EUR
As you explained, in my case, the system will catch up the depreciation for the periods 4 to 6 in period 7.
This is the standard system behaviour, because once the depreciation start date is set, the subsequent acquisitions will take this depreciation start date as reference, and not the date of the subsequent acquistion, as you are assuming.
Please read SAP note 46456, which explains this issue more in detail.
The 'Calculate according to asset value date' indicator in the calculation key for the depreciation cannot be maintained as of maintenance level 3.0E. As SAP note 53166 describes this indicator frequently caused misunderstandings. And that is why this function has been "removed".
But, you can still configure this behaviour with a modification, in table T090NP, field XBZDAT at your own risk. Please beware that with such a modification, there is no support in case of future incidences. In note  814004 you will find a short report which enables you to change the parameter.
I hope this will help you.

  • Manual depreciation and Planned but not posted depreciation forwarded

    HI Expert,
We would like to request for Product Enhancement for Fixed Asset Module due to the inconsistency in the computation for the following:
u2022     The planned and un-posted depreciation is already considered as confirm transaction when they compute for the accumulated depreciation to be forwarded next year (as well as net book value beg for next year)
u2022     But as for the no of months (remaining life) u2013 it will only consider the no of posted months when they compute for remaining life of the asset
The current feature of SAP affecting our enhancement request is as follows
    1) Manual depreciation is currently validates manual depreciation based on Planned depreciation instead of Posted depreciation
    2) Remaining life computation for next year depreciation is based on posted transaction only
    3) When user wants to fully depreciate the asset, we cannot post depreciation based on remaining un-posted depreciation using manual depreciation
Based on this feature we want to request for the following enhancement
    1) For the remaining un-posted depreciation (especially if the previous year is already close), we should be able to choose which month we want to post the un-posted depreciation
    2) Since the remaining life computation is based on posted depreciation only, 1) the validation and 2) the net book value forwarded next year should also be based on posted depreciation
We have a sample computation based on current feature VS the suggested computation for SAP. Is there any way for us to import the file here at the forum? We will wait for your advice
    Regards,
    Amy

    Dear Kyriakos,
is this prior year closed in FI-AA already? If so, how were you able to close this fiscal year? This should be found as error by the fiscal year close report.
If the prior fiscal year is not closed, then you can either change the depreciation key to a non-calculating one (e.g. 0000) or set a shutdown indicator for the complete fiscal year. This should reduce the planned depreciation to zero. No posting or G/L entry is necessary therefor.
If the prior fiscal year should be already closed in FI-AA (still I would be wondering how you did that), you could use the solution provided in [SAP Note 29694|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/29694].
    Hope this helps,
    Markus
