Dereferencing problem

can someone help me, i'm having some problems with the following lines of code:
int score, end;
1.if(end.equals("")){
2.end = 30000;
3.}
4.if(score.equals("")){
5.score = 1;
this is giving me the following error for lines 1 and 4:
" int cannot be dereferenced "

You are trying to use end and score (variables that are of a primitive type, namely int) as if they were of an Object type. Second, you are trying to compare int's to String values ("").
An int can't be null, it can't be "" and can only hold signed 32-bit integer values. If you want to compare ints you have to use x == y and not x.equals(y).

  • Problem with variables in dynamic SQL/PLSQL

    Hi, I have a problem I am trying to solve using a very short piece of dynamic SQL/PLSQL but I am having problems getting the variable values out of the dynamic block.
    I need to increment a counter which could be any one of 16 counters I am using and I want to avoid using nested IF statements.
    The variable to be incremented is made up of the 'scheme', the 'contributory category' and the 'employment category' (although not every combination is valid)
    The 'scheme' can be either 'no1', 'no2', 'off', 'cg' or 'amc'
    The 'contributory category' can be either 'cont' or 'noncont'
    The 'employment category' can be either 'ft' or 'pt'
    For example the total variable name could be 'v_cg_noncont_ft_count'
    I have created a variable by concatenating the various elements called v_incr_count_name which holds the name of the variable I want to increment.
    I am running this within an anonymous PLSQL block so I cannot use global variables meaning that my variables are not visible within a dynamic PLSQL block.
    As a result I think I will need to use bind variables with a PLSQL block or a SELECT FROM INTO SQL string
    I have tried various solutions including the following PLSQL solution:
    v_incr_count_name := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
    sql_stmt := 'BEGIN :a := :a + 1; END;';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt USING v_incr_count_name;
    Unfortunately I am getting the 'IN bind variable bound to an OUT position' error which I suppose makes sense as I am trying to change the value of a variable in the main PLSQL block from within the dynamic block.
    Another (SQL) solution I tried was:
    v_incr_count_name := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
    sql_stmt := 'SELECT '||v_incr_count_name||' + 1 FROM DUAL';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt INTO v_return;
    While this executes and returns the incremented value into v_return, I am still left unable to copy the returned value into the variable whose name is stored in v_incr_count_name
    Any help appreciated
    Cheers, Dan

    dbms_output.put_line(a);
    end;
    /but what you want cannot be done

    It it didn't work. Think we are missing something. Can please help us to figure it out.

  • A NULL interface pointer has been dereferenced

    This was an answer to someone who had this error message. I scoured the web to see what I could find. This is what I wrote to him. Does anyone else have any answers or know a work around???
    Hello,
    After doing some research on the error message, "A NULL interface pointer has been dereferenced". There may be a work around.
    Are you on a Mac? If you are, you may want to try updating CS4 and Installing the 9.0.2 update either manually or using the Adobe Update Manager. However you mentioned you exported to AVI which I know is a PC codec. Still maybe there is a adobe update for the PC as well.
    Also, if you are using video footage that uses interframe compression in any of the video placeholders (mpeg, h.264, mp4, etc), or if you have one or two mp3 or aic audio files, that may be an issue as well.
    If that's the case, convert audio files to aiff or wav, and convert the video into something that doesn't use interframe compression. Maybe Photo Jpeg, Animation, or apple pro res.
    Are you using just pictures? If so, then that info won't help either.
    If you are just changing the text and using pictures, I'm not sure why you are getting the NULL interface error.
    Answer the questions above and I'll try and help you out some more.

    Hello once again,
    If you could review this small issue I had with one of the templates or forward this to the customer service department.
    I have been attempting to render the Grid Warp Final Main Comp for some time now. It took me about 10 minutes to swap the text and pictures out, but the rendering process has taken me over 20 hours and I still havent been able to pinpoint the issue. I have tried rendering in After Effects CS3 and After Effects CS4 both which give the same result. The rendering process will get to anywhere from 400-600 frames and it will give me a warning saying: "After Effects warning: A NULL interface pointer has been dereferenced." Right after clicking OK on this warning another window comes up saying After Effects error: Quicktime export failed (14). This happens whether I export as FLV or if I use the render queue to do avi. Please advise on a possible solution when you have a chance as this heavily delayed our project time line. I have made sure there is no missing files in the project.
    David

    I got the same exact error in Windows 7. Seems to be a video inside the composition or a part of the composition itself thats the problem. I've tried increasing both the swap space and the ram usage. Still nothing but the video does push a solid 3 gigs of ram usage. I'm using cs3 myself.

  • Data type problems

    Hello all!
    So I'm actually writing a pretty big program that simulates the pick up sticks game, between the user and the computer...and I'm having a problem with a remove method that I made...
    when I wrote the user and computer classes, each one is supposed to remove a certain amount of sticks from the Pile( another class which I have written).
    In the Pile class, there is a method that is supposed to remove a certain amount of sticks from the pile.
    In the user and the computer class, I have this int varible maxOnATurn which is supposed to be their turn by removing the sticks from the pile..
    when i wrote
    maxOnATurn = sticks.remove(3);I got the error "int cannot be dereferenced." ....but I think all I'm using is ints when i do this...I have no idea whats wrong???? Any help is appreciated.
    Here one of the methods for the user to take a turn:
    public void takeTurn( Pile pile, int maxOnATurn)
        int sticks = pile.getSticks();
        Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
        System.out.print("Please enter a number to take ( a positive integer, no more than 3):");
        int sticksTaken = scan.nextInt();
        if(sticksTaken > 0 && sticksTaken <= 3)
          maxOnATurn = sticks.remove(sticksTaken);  // here is where the error is
        else
          System.out.println(" Invalid Entry");
      }and here is the Pile class, which contains the remove method
    import java.util.*;
    public class Pile
      private int sticks;
      public Pile( int sticks)
        Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
        sticks = scan.nextInt();
      public int getSticks()
        return sticks;
      public void remove(int number)
        sticks = sticks - number;
      public String toString()
        return "Sticks in Pile: " + sticks;
    }

    Right, that will make if function, but will that specifically remove the sticks from the pile???? I need to make sure it does that so other classes can use the same pile as well.
    Also,
    when I use pile.remove(int) I get another error saying "incompatible types... Found: void Required: int"

  • .equals Problem in 2D Array

    I get the problem, "int cannot be dereferenced" for cell[x][y].equals(1)) etc. How can I check if the cells have 1 in them correctly?
    //Figures out how many neighbors the live cells have.
        for (int x = 1; x < row; x++)
           for (int y = 1; y < col; y++)
            if (cell[x][y].equals(1))
              if (cell[x--][y--].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x--][y].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x--][y++].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x][y--].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x][y++].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y--].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y++].equals(1))
                neighbors++;
        }

    Your code makes be nervous:
    1. All those increments and decrements in the array subscripts -- do you really want to do that, or do you want to do this:
    if (cell[x-1][y-1] == 1)2. Boundary conditions. I see that x and y start at 1, what happens when x is row-1 or y is col-1? will [x+1] or [y+1] be out-of-bounds?
    3. Parentheses: do you realize this:
    if (cell[x][y] == 1)
              if (cell[x--][y--] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x--][y] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x--][y++] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x][y--] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x][y++] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y--] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y] == 1)
                neighbors++;
              if (cell[x++][y++] == 1)
                neighbors++;Is really this:
    if (cell[x][y] == 1)
              if (cell[x--][y--] == 1)
                neighbors++;
    if (cell[x--][y] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x--][y++] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x][y--] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x][y++] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x++][y--] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x++][y] == 1)
        neighbors++;
    if (cell[x++][y++] == 1)
        neighbors++;

  • Occi problem about object cache!

    Hello!
    I have a table named "ggg" which include two column in the oracle database,and the datatype of one colume is "mdsys.sdo_geometry".I insert 1000000 rows record into the "ggg" table.Now I want to download all the data with occi.At the client,i use "sdo_geometry" class created by ott to access the "mdsys.sdo_geometry" objects in the table.Then,problem come:
    1.the meomery used by the client applacation grow and grow continuously;the client object cache has not release the object automaticaly when over 8m default cache as the guide of occi;
    2.I can not release the occupied memory of the client object,the "delete" methed of the "PObject" is usefulless;
    3.the "setdatabufer" methed of the "ResultSet" cann't apply to the object type(exsample:sdo_geometry).
    why?
    thanks a lot.

    You didn't mention how you are getting the objects to the client. Are they value instances or are you getting the Refs and dereferencing them?
    If you are dereferencing the Refs, make sure the Refs go out of scope when they are no longer used. Otherwise since you are holding them, they won't get garbage collected.

  • Float cannot be dereferenced

    Hi,
    I get the following compilation error message:
    "float cannot be dereferenced"
    and i don't know what it meens.
    My code was compiling until i add the intValue methode in the last line.
    Here is the part of code :
    Dimension d,i;
    d = getSize(); // i get the size of the frame
    i = _imPanel.getSize();       // i get the size of an element in this frame
    float hp = i.height/d.height; // i calculate a ratio between those 2 size
    float wp = i.width/d.width; // for each dimansion
    _imPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension((getWidth()*wp).intValue(),(getHeight()*hp).intValue()));
    // and i apply a new dimension to the element int the frame using the ration and the new size of the frame.
    As the ratio is a float and Dimension needs int in parameters, i decided to use the intValue methode to cast the float into int.
    That's it.

    Hello,
    Your problem is that you are trying to use a primitive type as if it were an object!
    You cannot call methods on the primitive types (int, float, double, etc.). Therefore, your line should be converted from:
    Dimension((getWidth()*wp).intValue(),(getHeight()*hp).ntValue()));to Dimension(new Float(getWidth()*wp).intValue(), new Float(getHeight()*hp).intValue()));Which could be done better by directly casting the values:
    Dimension((int)(getWidth()*wp), (int)(getHeight()*hp));Manuel Amago.

  • Error when executing a work item (cannot execute a method, biding problem?)

    Hello,
    I created a specific workflow, triggered by an event, from a class I also created.
    From this event, I get some data about a Document (CV01/02/03N...).
    The first step is a task which refer to a method (from the same class above).
    The binding Task <=> Method is the data about the Document and the Workflow ID.
    After I start the workflow, I execute the work item in SWI1, with a breakpoint in the method.
    I can't go in debug, and the work item is in error (in Workflow log) :
    - "Work item 000000590208: Object ZCL_SA3_WF_GED_RECL_FOURN method UPDATE_FID cannot be executed"
    - "EXECUTE_METHOD_OBJECT_SYNC : Dereferencing of the NULL reference".
    Note: The task is not in background processing, in the aim of debugging the source code.
    I did SWU_OBUF and quit/relog SAP.
    Do you have any ideas to solve this problem ?
    I think it's a biding problem, because I can' t even go in debug mode...
    Thanks.
    Regards
    (sap version: ECC 6.0)

    Hi
    Looking at the error message I feel like there is something wrong in the task object and object method. You are using a class in the task make sure that class has the IF_WORKFLOW. Mak sure the task is enabled with synchronous task method check box.

  • Custom Leave approval task problem

    Dear All,
       I have a problem with my custom leave approval webdynpro task.
      Actually I was using standard task , TS12300097 for leave approval. It was working fine from SAP worklist from portal. If someone tries to approve from SAP R/3 it was providing an information like, this cannot be executed from SAP R/3.
      I had a requirement to add certain custom fields information to the task description, so I copied and created a new task similar to that and added the containers and filled the description to that. Then i cofigured the new task in SWFVISU also. It working fine from enterprise portal sap worklist.
      But some tries to approve from SAP Inbox in R/3 the workflow results in error. Its not providing the same information which was coming earlier with standard task.
    The error is as follow :
    Work item 000000885207: Object CL_PT_REQ_WF_ATTRIBS method DUMMY cannot be executed
    Dereferencing of the NULL reference
    Dereferencing of the NULL reference
    Error handling for work item 000000885207
    Let me how we can solve this issue.
    regards,
    Sabari Prabhu.

    We are changing our Leave Request workflow, and I also came across this problem while testing.
    In our situation, the problem is that we changed the approval task.  We used to have it as a call to report RPTARQAPP, but then changed back to the standard method of calling CL_PT_REQ_WF_ATTRIBS DUMMY.
    For us, it is only the old work items that go into error if the user tries to execute them in R/3.  If the workflow is then re-started, the item is once again available and can be processed in the UWL.  New work items come back with the pop-up message "The request cannot be started from the Business Workplace", like in the standard workflow.
    I think we will just add some encouraging wording to the task so that people will (hopefully) not attempt to execute the work items in R/3, like this:
    Please log on to ESS to approve this Leave Request through the Universal Worklist (UWL).
    It is not possible to complete this work item from within R/3, DO NOT execute this work item here.
    Once you have processed the request in ESS, this work item will automatically be completed.
    Good luck

  • Problem writing to a file on a shared drive

    I am having problems with my application not writing to a file on a shared drive. Actually it works perfect on one computer, but not on any other computer. Any ideas on why this would not work. Here is my code below, I think this may be an issue with permissions on the shared drive but have played with those until I am sick of it and nothing works. Any help on getting it to write to a file on a shared drive would be great.

                                            System.out.println("Error -- " + NPE.toString());
                        });

    So how do I stop the
    NPE from occurring.By not dereferencing a null reference.
    Thingamabob xyz = doSomethingWhichMightReturnNull();
    if (xyz != null)
    // go ahead and use xyz here
    If you leave out the above "if" statement check, and just willy-nilly try to use xyz when it is null, you'll get the NPE.
    It is occurring on the file
    name. I have never been able to stop the file name
    from throwing a NPE.I don't know how that translates to some lines of your code.

  • Call library with struct as parameter - several problems

    Hi everyone,
    I'm trying to send a MIDI sysex message to a midi device through winmm.dll using MidiOutLongMsg. I have trouble figuring out how to pass the parameters right.
    I need to call three functions (midiOutPrepareHeader, midiOutLongMsg, midiOutUnprepareHeader), all of them having the same form
    MMRESULT midiOutPrepareHeader(
    HMIDIOUT hmo,
    LPMIDIHDR lpMidiOutHdr,
    UINT cbMidiOutHdr
    where HMIDIOUT hmo is a handle that I have already. Troubling me are the other two parameters. cbMidiOutHdr is the size (in bytes) of the struct lpMidiOutHdr. This is a struct of the form
    typedef struct {
    LPSTR lpData;
    DWORD dwBufferLength;
    DWORD dwBytesRecorded;
    DWORD_PTR dwUser;
    DWORD dwFlags;
    struct midihdr_tag far * lpNext;
    DWORD_PTR reserved;
    DWORD dwOffset;
    DWORD_PTR dwReserved[4];
    } MIDIHDR;
    (Struct: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms711592.aspx
    PrepareHeader http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms711634.aspx
    SendMessage http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms711629.aspx
    UnprepareHeader http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms711641.aspx)
    [Note: The full code for what I want to do can be found here http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/lowmidi.htm (section "outputting system exclusive MIDI messages) - basically I need a translation of this code to LabView.]
    The following are my problems:
    a) How do I emulate a struct in LabView? (other threads suggest that this is done by clusters)
    b) How do I pass a pointer to a struct (cluster?) to a DLL?
    c) If I can use a cluster for this struct, how do I represent the LPSTR lpData in the cluster, i.e., a pointer to my data?
    d) how do I get the struct size for cbMidiOutHdr?
    This is how far I got, lots of it with the help of several threads in this forum:
    a) use a LabView cluster
    b) use "adapt to type" in the dll call (couldn't get this to work)
    c) I use a type cast on my string in the hope that what it returns is the register address (and I'm probably superwrong here)
    d) my cluster consists of 9 elements of 4 byte datatypes, so I just use 36 for cbMidiOutHdr
    The dll seems to be happy with the way I pass the cluster - I get error codes of 0 in both the PrepareHeader and UnprepareHeader functions. However, sending doesn't work (error code 7). Guessing that the type cast returns a pointer, I have also cast the cluster to an Int32 and passed that parameter as pointer to numeric value. Interestingly, the PrepareHeader and UnprepareHeader functions are still happy, but I get a different error code from the sending (code 11)
    Most of what I've done so far is guesswork, and I'm out of guesses now. I've attached the code to this post (it uses VIs from the NI MIDI example library ftp://ftp.ni.com/pub/devzone/epd/midi-example.llb ). I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

    Write MIDI SysEx Message.vi ‏21 KB

    First off, this problem doesn't have anything to do with control references; those have meaning only inside of the LabView environment.
    My first suggestion is to look for a higher-level library that will do whatever MIDI function you are trying to call. If you can find an ActiveX or .NET object that will control the MIDI subsystem, I recommend that you use it instead since it will be a lot easier.
    If calling the DLL directly is the best option (and calling DLLs is absolutely the way to go when you need high performance) then you need to understand how LabView passes data to library functions. That is described here:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361D-01/lvexcodeconcepts/configuring_the_clf_node/
    As you can see there are a lot of ways to pass data, but they boil down to this: LabView can pass, via various levels of dereferencing, a pointer to some [mostly] flat data. Things are easiest when your DLL mimics LabView's own data storage methods. For example, wiring a cluster into a node set with Adapt to Type passes a handle (struct**, pointer to pointer to [mostly] flat data). So if you are writing your own DLL, it's pretty easy to write something that works nicely with LabView data (e.g., strings with 4-byte length headers, self-describing arrays) and in fact the result is cleaner looking than its "pure C" variant because of the self-describing arrays and string length prefixes. (I say "mostly" flat because LabView clusters with variable-length elements aren't stored in a flat format.)
    When it comes to matching someone else's API things get harder, and in this case you are out of luck; you are going to have to write a LabView-callable wrapper function in C because LabView can't mimic the exact data structure needed. The problem is not the struct; there is a sneaky way to pass a pointer (vs a handle) to a struct, which is to do this:
    Generate a cluster in LabView representing the struct (atomic numeric data only! no strings arrays etc!)
    Flatten to string using native byte order.
    Convert string to byte array.
    Configure the call library function note to accept a pointer to an unsigned byte array. (NOT a C-string as suggested at the bottom of the page in the link above; your data may have internal 0x00s, and it certainly doesn't need an extra 0x00 at the end!)
    The reason this works is that a pointer is just an address; as long as all the right bytes are in memory in the right order starting at that address, all is well. The DLL doesn't know that LabView thinks it is passing a pointer to an array of bytes, it just gets the pointer to the first byte and it reads and interprets those bytes according to its own struct def. Reverse the process cooming back from the DLL (convert byte array to string, unflatten from string against the LV cluster.) This method will work for any flat struct.
    In LabView 8.5 there may be a less bogus way of doing this, which is to pass the cluster in with Adapt to Type and select "Array Data Pointer" as the format. This is new and I haven't tried it.
    But in your case, you want to point to a struct that contains a pointer to a string plus some numeric data and another pointer, and this you can't do directly. LabView does not expose the location of a string to you anywhere outside the Call Library Function node, so there's no way to "find the pointer" to a LabView string from outside the DLL. What you need to do in this case is write a wrapper function in C that takes your LabView data. Only then will LabView "tell you where the bytes are" and promise not to fiddle with them until the library call is complete. Once you are in C-land, you can throw pointers around to your heart's content. As long as you do it all perfectly, all will be well. (If you write one byte too many on output, boom! :-)
    There are a few ways to do this. You could make a cluster that has meaning in LabView, e.g. replace lpData with a LabView string, then pass the cluster in to your wrapper function set to "Adapt to Type"; that will pass a handle to the cluster. You can generate the .c file from the Call Lib Fuction, and it will outline where the data is.
    Complications: In this case it's your job to convert the handle to the labview string (which has 4 bytes of length as a prefix and no trailing 0x00) to a C-string by malloc()'ing a new buffer and memcopying the string out. There might be something in the LV CIN tools that does this, I'm not sure. Make sure you release the new string after the MIDI call.
    The lazy route (which is what I would do) is pass the string as the first arg and all of the numeric stuff as the second arg, leaving the space for lpData as you have now. (I don't know what struct "midihdr_tag" is, but if that's not something you were passed in a previous call, you'll need to add a third argument for that cluster and treat it similarly.) Then you can tell LabView that it should pass the string arg as a C-string pointer. Inside your wrapper, extract the pointers and stuff them into the data structure as needed. Dereference once (to go from handle to pointer) and make the MIDI call. To be clean, put everything back where it was before in the cluster; in particular don't believe you can pass out lpData* and do whatever you want with it in LabView; LabView will release/change that address as soon as you leave the output string unwired or do anything to it (e.g. concatenate.) You'll be creating a new string buffer and a new pointer on your next MIDI call.
    All of this complication is a result of a) LabView's hiding the details of memory allocation/deallocation from you and b) LabView's internal data structures being a bit different from C conventions (e.g. LabView strings vs. C strings). The second means that even when LabView is using non-flat data structures (e.g. cluster containing an array), you can't just blindly pass them along to a C function and expect it to work right. It would be nice if NI would write a little mini-compiler into the Call Library Function that would do what our wrapper function is going to do, but that's probably a fairly significant project.
    Still, each function wrapper is only going to have about 10 lines of C. You can put wrappers for all the MIDI functions you want to call into a single DLL, then ship that DLL with your app.
    (Now you see why I suggested you look for an ActiveX MIDI control!)

  • Problem with Oracle Security Developer Tools creating signed SAML Assertion

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use OSDT to create a signed SAML assertion.
    Basically, what I've done is to use the ST_Test.java sample and the SignXMLEnveloped.java sample together.
    This is just a proof-of-concept, so what I did was use the code from ST_Test.java to create the unsigned assertion, take the byte array that results, and use it in a ByteArrayInputStream feeding into slightly modified SignXMLEnveloped.java code.
    I was actually able to created a signed assertion, but the signature on the signed assertion does not validate.
    I think that the reason it doesn't validate is because the original code in SignXMLEnveloped.java sets the URI in the reference to "", whereas the reference should be to something like "XXXXXX", which is the "AssertionID" attribute on the Assertion element.
    However, if I modify the SignedXMLEnveloped code to do a setUri to "#XXXXXX", I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" oracle.security.xmlsec.dsig.SigningException: Cannot find node with @Id="theassertion"

    I think I know what the problem may be, but I'm not sure how to workaround it. I have written some apps to do digital signature verification before, and I know that there is a problem with SAML 1.1 called the "idness" problem, where the "AssertionID" attribute is not an "id" type attribute in the schema. I have a feeling that I'm running into the same problem here, with OSDT.
    Has anyone been successful at doing something like this with OSDT? If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
    I was able to past my original problem, and can now sign the assertion which has the AssertionID attribute. I had to set the SAML version to 1.1 using initialize().
    Unfortunately, when I run the resulting signed assertion through a signature validation, it is failing to verify.
    I'm not sure why, but it is failing when it tries to verify the hash/digest on the reference.
    I am using a separate application that I wrote that uses Java6 and the security API that Java6 has, and with debugging enabled, I can see the dereferenced data that is being fed into the digester, and that looks correct, but the calculated digest doesn't match what my OSDT-based application generated.
    Anyone have any idea about what the problem might be?
    Thanks,
    Jim

  • "int cannot be dereferenced" error.. help me please

    I'm working with an array list class called PersonList and it uses attributes from a normal class called Person.
    I would like to make this method PrintPerson inside the PersonList class that should search for a specific Person given the ID as parameter to the method. the method should print all info of the Person if found, otherwise a message saying id is not valid.
    I solved it like this:
    public void PrintPerson(int id)
              System.out.println("Enter ID of the person ");
              id = Stdin.readInteger();
              //search the ID if it is in the List
              int i=0;
              while
              ((i<next)&&(!(list.getID().equals(id))))
              i++;
              //if found
              if (i<next)
                   list[i].OutputWindow();}//display the object ouput of this ID
                   else{
                   System.out.println("The following ID: " id "is not valid!");
              }//end if
         }// end of method
    my problem is with this code:
    ((i<next)&&(!(list.getID().equals(id))))
    I get this error "int cannot be dereferenced"
    what should I do? help me please
