Designing XML Page using JDeveloper

Dear Members,
Iam using JDeveloper 9i Verson to develop OAF Pages and deploy on Oracle Applications 11i.
In this OAF XML Page I have a table where user inputs data into it.
During design time, I create regions, message text input and use spacers to design the layout as per the user requirement. I feel this method is bit hectic.
In Oracle Forms we can just drop and drag the fields to design the layout as per the user requirement. Dont we have this drag and drop option to design the layout in JDeveloper?
I request the members to throw some light on this issue.
Many thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Arun Reddy D.

Hi Arun,
Drag and Drop functionality is not available in R11 or R12 JDeveloper, but OAF provides different types of Regions for different type of requirements, which ease the development.
Still sometimes(only sometimes) we need to adjust the Items using spacer.

  • ERROR: Running OA page using Jdeveloper.

    Hi,
    We have extened one ABCVO.xml object related one page. Now i want to run the page from jdeveloper i am getting an error saying XXABCVO.xml of type defination is not found .
    Is there any extra setup i have to do reflect the extended changes to be apper in the page when i am running page using Jdeveloper. Please help me.
    Thanks
    sreenu.

    Hi sreenu,
    Whenever you are extending a seeded VO, you need to create the substitution for the old VO by clicking on the .jpx file.
    Then import the jpx file using the jpximport command from command prompt.
    To run the page which contains the customizations, you need to add -Djbo=ProjectName in the runner option of your project settings. Then you will be able to run the page from your local Jdeveloper.

  • How do I generate XML File Using JDeveloper 9.0.3

    Hi All
    I want to generate a XML file against the data in one of my Oracle table,,,, This is the first time I am doing this Task, so please let me know whether I am going through the correct path, or if not appreciate if you could put me to the correct system of doing this please..
    OK , Well I am working to a publishing company in Australia and we have Oracle 8i (Release 3 ) database and I have Oracle JDeveloper (9.0.3 -Preview ) version in my personal computer.
    I have a Table(ONIXT4) with three Columns( ISBN,Author,Price) in Oracle as follows:
    ISBN     Author     Price
    2512456321     Peter     14.50
    7445854127     Ray      21.75
    What I want to generate a XML File using JDeveloper as below with respect to data in above Table.
    <ISBN>2512456321</ISBN>
    <ProductInfor>
    <Author>Peter</Author>
    <Price>14.50</Price>
    </ProductInfor>
    <ISBN>7445854127</ISBN>
    <ProductInfor>
    <Author> Ray </Author>
    <Price>21.75</Price>
    </ProductInfor>
    I created the database connection within JDeveloper to Oracle those working fine,, my major problem is,, the Tag <ProductInfor>, since this is not a Column Name of the Table I don't know how should I incorporate this with the file.
    What I did so far with the JDeveloper:
    1.Create the Workspace and the Project
    2.File -- New -- XML -- XSQL
    3.Then I Selected Query from the Component Palette,, Property Values were NOT changed, and gave 'Select * from ONIXT4'
    Whole Untitled3.xsql file look likes below
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!--
    | Uncomment the following processing instruction and replace
    | the stylesheet name to transform output of your XSQL Page using XSLT
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="YourStylesheet.xsl" ?>
    -->
    <page xmlns:xsql="urn:oracle-xsql" connection="Connection1">
    <xsql:query max-rows="-1" null-indicator="no" tag-case="lower">
    Select * From OnixT4
    </xsql:query>
    </page>
    Then the Result comes as:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    - <!--
    | Uncomment the following processing instruction and replace
    | the stylesheet name to transform output of your XSQL Page using XSLT
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="YourStylesheet.xsl" ?>
    -->
    - <page>
    - <rowset>
    - <row num="1">
    <isbn>2512456321</isbn>
    <author>Peter</author>
    <price>14.5</price>
    </row>
    - <row num="2">
    <isbn>7445854127</isbn>
    <author>Ray</author>
    <price>21.75</price>
    </row>
    </rowset>
    </page>
    How do I format the outcome to obtain the my requirement??
    Welcome all comments of donig this ....

    To format your XML to the requiered output you'll use a stylesheet and XSLT
    As it says in your output:
    - <!--
    | Uncomment the following processing instruction and replace
    | the stylesheet name to transform output of your XSQL Page using XSLT
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="YourStylesheet.xsl" ?>
    -->
    A nice tutorial on XSLT is available on the XML technology center in OTN:
    See Transforming XML with XSLT

  • Export Sourcing (PON) pages using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.39.81

    Dear all,
    Could please any one tell me how to export the XML pages for the sourcing module (PON), from R12 using JDeveloper version 10.1.3.39.81
    Looking forward to see your replies.
    Thanks

    First of all, make sure you use Patch 5856648 "10g Jdev with OA Extension" for all your R12 related work. No other Jdev is compatible.
    For export you can either the export.bat command from the Jdev directory or the XMLExporter command from the unix environment.
    Check the OAF Dev guide, section "Deploying Personalizations" for more details on these commands.

  • Tab Button in JSP page using Jdeveloper

    Hi Guys
    I have a basic question, In Jdeveloper I am creating a JSP page. I need to have Tab buttons in that page, but i am not able to locate the tab buttons, I wanted to know that do Jdeveloper provides the facility for tab buttons, if it does, where can i find the tab button on the Jdeveloper.
    regards

    Yes, it is possible. But you must use ADF Faces technology. There is component called ShowOneTab.
    e.g.:
              <af:showOneTab position="above">
                <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 1">
                  <af:inputText label="Label 1"/>
                </af:showDetailItem>
                <af:showDetailItem text="showDetailItem 2">
                  <af:inputText label="Label 1"/>
                </af:showDetailItem>
              </af:showOneTab>regards,

  • Importing xml page changed the language used

    hi,
    i am having an issue on my customized oaf page which is an advanced search page.
    We are using french in OA. Evrything in the page is in French
    including the results table page
    i exported an oaf xml page (using xmlexporter without specifing the language). the xmlexporter only works when the -translation and -language are not specified...
    i made a few changes in the xml page (add new search criteria)
    and imported it using xmlimporter.
    there is only one problem, the result table column headers are all in the english.
    Before it was in french...
    any idea ?
    thanks

    i have found in the xmlexporter section how to export the language in the xlf format.
    I just exported it successfully.
    now i have my xml file and my xlf file.
    i did not found in the dev guide how to make the xlf work correctly.
    I am connected in OA in french
    and i still have part of my page in english and part in french.
    I want the page to be full in french.
    i did not found any option in the xmlimporter where i could specify the xlf file ...
    and i did not found anywhere in the dev guide where i should place this xlf file so that the OA would translate the page correctly
    thanks :)

  • Are people using jdeveloper to build application to replace Oracle Form ?

    We would like to hear from customers who implemented jdeveloper solution to replace form. In terms of functionality Form was a good product. But it is time to move to something open. Did anyone successfully move their Form application to java/jsp/servlet/xml app using jdeveloper? Thanks for your time.

    I just finished my third Forms -> JDev web app conversion. FWIW, my experiences were excellent all three times. However, there are three caveats here:
    1) I was brought in on these cases specifically to develop JDev web apps based on existing Forms apps. J2EE and JDev are my background; not Forms. So the Forms-to-JDev productivity loss didn't affect me; I was used to the lower productivity associated with 3GL programming. YMMV, obviously.
    2) I used Oracle JHeadstart on two of these projects. Compared to "vanilla" JDeveloper 10.1.2, JHeadstart gave me a lot of functionality, such as multi-row edit tables and lookup-driven LOV popups, that are expected by Forms users but that were especially muddy to implement in JDev 10.1.2. I think this is significantly mitigated by changes made in JDev 10.1.3 (certainly those two particular cases are now part of standard ADF functionality), but I've only just started using that.
    3) Even with JHeadstart (and, I anticipate, even with 10.1.3), there is some "expectations adjustment" that has to be done if your user base is used to Forms. The JDeveloper web UI framework (ADF Faces, in its latest incarnation) is getting more and more "AJAX-y" and interactive, but you're still not going to fool anybody into thinking they're running a full-featured desktop application. This really isn't a criticism of JDev or ADF in any way; it's only the bleedingest edge in web apps that comes close to that kind of functionality.

  • Unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS

    Hi,
    I am unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS.
    When right click on jspx page , clicks on Debug option, it gives the following error:
    Debugger unable to connect to local process.
    [Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    I also restarted the Jdeveloper, even re-installed Jdev but still the problem persist.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    If the jspx page is not part of the adfc-config.xml the page can only be displayed, but the tags will not work as the adf life cycle  is not involved. drag te page onto the adfc-config.xml (the unbounded task flow), right click on it and select debug from the context menu.
    Main problem is : Weblogic server cannot be started in debug mode.
    To check this, open the application navigator, select the integrated server, right click on it and select 'debug' from the context menu.
    After a short time you should see some messages and at last you should see <Runnning> in the message log. Now the server runs (without any of your applications, but it runs).
    If you done't see the 'Running' message you should see an error, which you should post here.

         at oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OASlideMenuUtil.prepareNavAndFavList(Unknown Source) error.
    We found out that it is because of the missing "Navigation and Favorites options" that comes along with R12 version pages. We confirmed it by creating a new page in 10g Jdev and copy pasted all the regions from the old page to the new page. It is working fine. Now the doubt i have is,
    Wont 10g Jdev take care of this during the conversion of the Page XMLs and Java files? Or am i missing any big part here.
    Tried searching with keywords, tags but dint help. Kindly refer if you have any links or thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Praveen.

    This can be caused by the 'Function Name' attribute on the page layout region being NULL but with the XML tag still in the page XML i.e.:
    <oa:pageLayout id="PageLayoutRN" amDefName="xxjlp.oracle.apps.fnd.por.econtent.server.EContentAM" windowTitle="Portal Guidance Documents" title="Portal Guidance Documents" controllerClass="xxjlp.oracle.apps.fnd.por.econtent.webui.GuidanceDocSumCO" function="">
    Check the page you are forwarding to either has a valid value for 'Function Name' or ensure that this tag is removed from the page XML by clicking the 'Set to default' button on the component pallet toolbar.
    This is normally caused when a value was added by the developer then removed by highlighting the value and hitting delete.  This action keeps the tag in the XML file.  You should use the 'Set to default' button which will remove the tag completely.

  • How to display the data in XML files into JSP using Jdeveloper.

    Hi All,
    I have two XML files one XML file has the view names and the other has the table names of a particular views, how to display the data in JSP using JDeveloper where when i click a particular view the list of tables of that particular view from XML file two should be displayed in JSP Page.
    Are there any reference documents, regarding the above process please can anyone guide through how to do it.

    Let the servlet ask your business tier to provide the data, then stuff it into beans, and pack those into the Session instance. Then forward the request to the JSP, let the JSP get those beans and display them.

  • Design tab of UIX page in JDeveloper 10g

    I am using JDeveloper 10g (Build 9.0.5.1) and JHeadstart 9.0.5.1.11. I have generated a small application using the Application Generator but the UIX page generated does not display in the Design tab - rather a message saying that "The document is not in a valid state". Am I doing something wrong here or is this expected behaviour ??
    Cheers,
    Brent Harlow

    Brent,
    Yes, this a known limitation, dcoumented in the release notes:
    3601291: UIX: Errors are displayed in the structure pane of JDeveloper when clicking on a UIX page, for example: Element templates: findPage not defined in parent content. Also, when opening the UIX Design Editor the following text appears: The document is not in a valid state. Please edit this file in the code editor to resolve syntax problems and then return to the visual editor.
    This does not cause any runtime problems.
    The behavior is caused by the fact that JHeadstart does not use UIX in the default manner, and is therefore not correctly interpreted by JDeveloper 10g.
    This will be fixed with the JHeadstart release that uses ADF.

    JHeadstart team.
