Determine Switch Path

Hy,
I have a 2527 Multiplexer which I switch with a scanlist and a software trigger to get the next entry of the scanlist. Now I'm searching for a way to determine the Switch Path. I would like to know which channels are connected at a certain time. I have searched for a property node in the DAQmx and NISwitch routines, but founded nothing.
Thanks for your help.
Tony

Hey Tony,
There are two hardware methods to interact with NI switch modules: scanning and immediate mode.
In scanning mode, we're downloading a predefined list to the onboard memory of the switch module.  Then, whenever the module receives a trigger, it'll advance to the next entry in the scan list.  The goal of the scanning design is to offload the switching task solely to the switch module, thus making the scanning process faster and controllable with external equipment.  We do allow users to send a software trigger, which allows us to bring the controller back into the picture, but we don't allow the controller to look into the switch state for two reasons: 1 this would slow the switch down, and 2 by the time the OS receives the current switch state, it's possible that the switch module has received a trigger and thus advanced to the next position, thus allowing the controller to make decisions based on potentially out-of-date data.
If you want to continue using scanning mode, you could parse the scan list using the scan list entry syntax and create a string array of the scan list.  Then, each time you send the software trigger, you could advance a pointer to the next entry in the string array you've generated... but since you're using the software trigger, we can use the switch module in immediate mode (software) instead.
Immediate mode allows us to close/open relays on the switch module with the controller using software calls.  It also allows us to read the relay position using either the associated vis or the Switch soft front panel.  There's a great example in the NI Example Finder (LabVIEW»Help»Find Examples) Hardware Input and Output»Modular Instruments»NI-Switch»niSwitch Making Connections on a Switch.
Let us know if I missed something.  Have a great day!

  • How to determine actual path/location of Outlook Public Folder favorite?

    I have several end users that use the Public Folder favorite system in Outlook. Our Public Folder structure is very large and messy which makes finding these favorites difficult to find. When I go to the properties of the favorited folder, it does not find
    the actual path.
    Is there a PowerShell command or some tool that will allow me to determine the path?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
    Public Folders can be set as a Favorite Folder at 2 levels in Outlook. one within the Public Folder structure and one within the Navigation Pane:
    http://www.msoutlook.info/question/281
    Seems you are using the favorite in the Public Folder structure. We can find the folder path by right-clicking and select Properties, and then select
    Summary tab. Now you can see the path from the Folder Path field:
    Hope this helps.

  • How do i determine a path?

    I'm having to restore my Raid from a tape library (Using Bakbone Netvault), and because i want to restore the data to a different Raid, I have to enter the path to that raid.
    However, i haven't a clue how to determine the path!! And tech support at Bakbone couldn't tell me how to find it. All i know is the Raid appears on the desktop. Please can someone tell me how to determine what the path actually is ?
    thanks

    You can open the terminal window then drag the desktop icon to the terminal window. This will show the complete path. I am not familiar with your exact situation however, since I have not work with raid devices.
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    you can type CD for the change directory command. Useful commands would be:
    cd /Users/mac/Desktop/page 4.dmg
    pwd
    ls -lF
    #the ls command is for list
    # l is long
    # F is type of file where / is directory
    mac $ cd /Volumes/Classic/
    mac $ pwd
    /Volumes/Classic
    mac $ ls -lF

  • How to determine the path of the jar file cache of javawebstart?

    Hello, I need to know how to determine where the java web start application
    file jar cache is stored on windows system hard drive.
    I would have launch of the inner processes
    I have need to know the path of file jar .
    example if my application is myAppliation.jar
    in code generic class of myAppliation.jar i have the command runtime
    String strCmd =
    System.getProperties().getProperty("java.home") + "\\bin\\java" +
         " -cp " +
         System.getProperties().getProperty("java.class.path") + ";"
         + " anotherClass.class ";
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(strCmd);
    the anotherClass.class has need
    of the contained library in myAppliation.jar.

    Thanks i have tried this metod and function
    java.net.URL resource = classLoader.getResource("myResource");
    if (resource != null) {
    String s = resource.toString();
    if (s.startsWith("jar:")) {
    int index = s.indexOf("!");
    if (index > 4) {
    String fileurl = s.substring(4, index);
    if (fileurl.startsWith("file:")) {
    String path = fileurl.substring(5);
    // now path is the path to the jar file in the cache containing the resource
    System.out.println("file jar: "+path);

  • How to determine Evaluation Path(WEGID)

    Hi All,
            I am using FM /ISDFPS/FORCE_STRUC_GET in order to get all the elements under a particular force element  In TCODE /ISDFPS/TOE1. Here is the code :
                CALL FUNCTION '/ISDFPS/FORCE_STRUC_GET'

    However using wegid O-O_DOWN does not give all the elements under the node (objid or Force element).
    How do I know which wegid ( Evaluation path) is to be used . How can it be determined?
    Thanks ,
    Vasuki

    This sounds like something a functional consultant should be able to answer. Hope someone is around, otherwise it might just be a matter of trial and error via the transaction you have mentioned. Normally in HR that is, where these kind of FM is used as well, the description of the evaluation path is quite comprehensive. Based on that and the transaction code I always just give it a try and see what evaluation path gives the output I want. But the best alternative would be that functional consultant.

  • How can you determine the absolute path to a dynamically created NetStream object?

    We are trying to implement video captioning with a freeware component, ccforflash. This requires us to provide an absolute or relative path  to our NetStream object. How can we determine this path in Flash CS5 AS3?
    From the CCforFlashCS5 documentation:
    "2. Object name and path
    Type the name and path.  This is the instance name of the object with which CCforFlashAS3 will synchronize. It must be spelled correctly, since CCforFlashAS3 will query the object with this name for timing information in order to synchronize the captions. The path must also be included; either relative to the CCforFlashAS3 component (i.e. this.parent) or the absolute path from the main level of the movie (root)."

    It would be easier if the NetStream object was created on an easily identifiable place on the timeline. This player has an MVC architecture. The NetStream object is created in a subclass to Model class, which is itself a subclass of the EventDispatcher object. The View class access it via an interface.
    As you can guess, it's not that straightforward to determine where the NetStream object is located on the timeline. This is compounded by the fact that the NetStream object does not have a name property.
    I've tried methods like these, but they only work for the DisplayObject class:
    public static function displayObjectPath( avDisplayObject : DisplayObject ) :String
    var lvPath:String = "";
    do
    if( avDisplayObject.name ) {
    // var obj_name:String = (avDisplayObject.name == 'root1') ? 'root' : avDisplayObject.name;
    if (avDisplayObject.name != 'root1') {
    lvPath = avDisplayObject.name
       + ( lvPath == "" ? "" : "." + lvPath );
    } else {
    trace("displayObjectPath() NO NAME avDisplayObject="+avDisplayObject);
    } while( avDisplayObject = avDisplayObject.parent );
    return lvPath;
    } // displayObjectPath
    private  function showChildren(d:DisplayObjectContainer):void {
    trace("showChildren()");
    if (d.numChildren>0) {
    for (var c:Number = 0; c < d.numChildren; c++) {
    trace("showChildren c=",c," name=",d.getChildAt(c).name);

    No I don't think there is a way. But you could prompt the user for the correct directory

  • GetTreeCellRendererComponent(): get path to value without using row-arg?

    I'm using a JTree to display hierarchical data which include cyclic dependencies (i.e. an item may be its own ancestor).
    If a node shows up for the second time in a hierarchical tree path, I put a stop to further expansion (using the getPath() of a TreeExpansionEvent in a TreeWillExpandListener), and I give the node a special display (using a tree-cell renderer with a custom implementation of getTreeCellRendererComponent()). The implementation uses tree.getPathForRow(row) to get the path by which can be detected if a node is cyclic, but this does not always work: sometimes tree.getPathForRow(row).getLastPathComponent() corresponds to the value-object given as argument to getTreeCellRendererComponent(), but sometimes it does not.
    The example below shows the difference (switch the lines marked "Not OK" by the line marked "OK"; to keep it simple, I left the cyclic dependencies out).
    Checking the swing source files reveals that if getTreeCellRendererComponent() is called by paintRow() in BasicTreeUI, value and row correspond. But if getTreeCellRendererComponent() is called by getNodeDimensions() in one of the LayoutCache-classes, the given value-object does not correspond to the object at the given tree-row. Somewhere I read that getNodeDimensions() is called to determine preferred sizes of nodes before they are shown for the first time. If that's the case, it is logical that value and row do not correspond, although I would have liked to get a hint, e.g. a row value of -1.
    To detect a cyclic node, I need a treepath, but the row-argument is unreliable. Is there another way to determine the path corresponding to the value-object passed to getTreeCellRendererComponent(), so without having to use the row-argument?

  • EIGRP- Equal Cost Paths Selection

    Hello,
    This might be a simple question; using EIGRP and having 2 equal cost paths to the destination; how does the router/L3 switch route select the path from those two equal cost paths? Is there a way to force one path over anthoer?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best, ~sK

    To answer your question we need to be clear that there are 2 parts to the decision about which path will be used to forward traffic. The first part is the identification of paths and their insertion into the routing table. This is the part where EIGRP plays a role. If EIGRP determines that there are two equal cost viable paths then both of the paths will be put into the routing table. This ends EIGRP involvement in the process. The part of the process that takes a particular packet and determines which path to use is handled by CEF. By default CEF looks at the number of available paths toward a destination and when there are multiple paths CEF will use a process that calculates based on source and destination address to choose a particular path. For the same source address and same destination address CEF should choose the same path every time.

  • Checking L2/L3VPN traffic path through SP network (for ECMP)

    Folks,
    Scenario:
    CE1-----PE1=====P1=====P2=====PE2-------CE2
    Lets say CE1 and CE2 are doing L2VPN and all hops between PE1, P1,P2 and PE2 have more than one equal cost paths (ECMP).
    I am trying to ascertain a way of knowing what path the EoMPLS traffic would take inside the SP core.
    Some vendors say the way the hashing works is that if a PE finds its got more than one path to the egress PE, it would do hashing based on src/dst MAC and in other cases if a P device finds its got more than one path to egress PE, it would do hashing based on VC-label.
    In either case, lets say we know what hashing method the P or PE device is using, obviously we would need an easier method to determine what path a pseudowire would take inside the provider network - Again, some vendors use what is called a "pseudowire traceroute" to determine this path. A pre-requisite of this is that at the time of setting up of the PW, the control word needs to be turned on.
    I am looking for more knowledge on whether someone knows how the pseudowire traceroute would work and the process behind the PW traceroute which uses the control word ? more like how we know a normal traceroute works is through UDP pakcets with incremenyting TTL... and so forth
    Anyone ??

    Hello Ulatif,
    it looks like that mpls traceroute for a pseudowire is not possible.
    Actually the VCCV should be under the implementation of ping mpls and ping mpls pseudowire. The following document is a little old but explains the basic concepts under ping mpls and traceroute mpls.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0s/feature/guide/gslsppt.html#wp1156080

    This solves the question at source PE or destination PE of the pseudowire but I agree that in the middle in your scenario there are other possible choices of intermediate nodes.
    All I can say is that once a path is chosen by source PE it determines a complete path because intermediate nodes will make a choice and keep it.

  • NISE unable to complete 1193 RF Switch routes

    I'm having NISE problems.  I have configured two 1193 RF switches to be in independent mode.  I have configured a hardwire between com0 of the first switch (rf_1) to channel 7 of the second switch (rf_2).  I am trying to connect a route that will go from rf_1/ch0->rf_2/com0.  So basically I have daisy chained the two rf switches.  The problem is that when I click on the routes to connect, NISE just hangs there.  It seems to be trying to configure the path between the two end channels but nothing happens.  Under the Windows task manger it shows that NISE is using about 50% of the CPU, so it is still running doing something.  I have let it run for about 45 minutes and no changes.  It is only suppose to be determining the path for the routes but it is taking an extremely long time.
    What could be the problem?  If I manually enter the paths it accepts it and is able to validate the path but it cannot do it on its own.  Any idea what's going or how I can fix this problem?

    You are asking something to NISE that will take a very very long time. They are tons of route paths NISE needs to try in order to find the right path. The independent topology should not be used in this case.
    If you are only routing channels to coms, you should be using a Mux topology and you should mark some intermediate channels as reserved for routing.

  • Path to Images in iPhoto

    I have multiple images on another iMac across my small home wifi network. When I go to iPhoto from Computer 1 (a MacBookPro) to Computer 2 (iMac), an entire folder I want to transfer (copy) does not show up.
    What is the actual path to that folder? How do I determine such path? Can all images from that folder be copied to Computer 1 (the MacBookPro)?
    Thanks for the help.

    an entire folder I want to transfer (copy) does not show up.
    Is this a folder in the iPhoto Window? Or somewhere on your HD?
    Folders (and albums etc.) in the iPhoto Window are virtual entities, they are listings in the iPhoto database and there is no corresponding folder of images on the Hard Disk.
    If you want to move images between libraries the best way is to use iPhoto Library Manager or, export from one and import to the other.

  • What is the best Path for a J2EE developer with oracle?

    Hi,
    I am a J2EE developer, for the time being I work at a Commercial Bank as an enterprise application developer. I have learnt java when I was following a local IT diploma and with the help of books, works at my working place and the internet , today I am developing J2EE applications with JSP,Servlets,JSF2.0,EJB3.0 and third party JSF libraries etc. (I am also developing softwares using other programing languages such as Asp.net, C#.net, WPF etc, but I prefer to be in the java path). Other than that, I'm also working as the UI designer of most of our applications.
    I have those skills and practice after working for 4 years as a web/enterprise application developer & a UI designer, but now I have to focus on some paper qualifications and hence I am doing BCS.
    Now I want to be a java professional in Oracle's path, and I need to know what is the best path I can select to move with Oracle. I finished my classes of SCJP , but didn't do the exams as there were some rumors that Oracle will dump those exams in the future. I am interested in Oracle university, but I am unable to even think about it as I live in Sri Lanka and don't have that much of financial wealth to go USA and join.
    So I really appreciate if any Oracle professional could suggest me the best educational path according to what I mentioned about my technical and career background. Because I have a dream to join Oracle one day as an employee and being a good contributer to the same forum, which I am getting helps today!
    Thanks!!!

    As you can see on our website, Oracle did not retire the Java certifications. You can browse through the available certifications and hopefully help to determine your path.

    SCJP has now become Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer. You can find more info on those exams on our website here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320.
    Regarding training, perhaps live virtual training would be an option for you. You can find more information at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=233.
