Determining proper hyperlink syntax for TOC destination within PDF using example?

I've dabbled but only able to construct a hyperlink jumping to a specific page rather than jumping to a specific table of Contents (TOC) entry, e.g.  "901. Scope of the Training and Education Program" in http://www.nerc.com/files/NERC_ROP_Effective_20130305.pdf
Q1:  In general how should one determine and form up a TOC based hyperlink to a destination within a PDF such as this.. likely applying "hxxp://www.domain.com/file.pdf#nameddest=TOC" syntax?
Q2: What would be the specific hypertext brower launch link for this example?
tia

To make use of the "nameddest" parameter you'll have to actually have those in the PDF. The PDF at the link does not have any.
As the authoring file for the PDF was a Word file you could see if Word can be configured to provide named destinations.
If not then you would have to put them in manually using Acrobat (Pro supports this - maybe Standard also).
If you don't already have it the "Parameters for Opening PDF Files" is the document that discusses parameters for opening a PDF via a URL.

  • What is the proper SQL syntax for dates input as variable

    Hello,
    I am working on an ASP JavaScript page that requests totals
    from an Access database for a specific date range. I can write the
    SQL statement to query the DB and get the results I need using the
    WHERE statement below.
    ...WHERE LABOR_DATE BETWEEN #7/15/2006# AND #7/18/2006# GROUP
    BY [LABOR].[JOB_NUMBER_NAME]
    I have another page that I want to pass two variables in
    Dreamweaver specifying the date range varBeginDate and varEndDate
    and query the database using the date range input by the user.
    What is the correct syntax for replacing the actual dates in
    the example above with my variable values?

    Short answer - you can't. There's no automatic link between file paths and mounting servers. There are lots of valid reasons for this (e.g. preventing malicious links from automatically opening files from remote servers), but you can get there in a controlled environment.
    You can configure Automounts on any directory. That way whenever any application tries to access a particular path the OS will automatically mount the directory, but it needs to be told in advance which directories (and which servers) to mount.
    For example, if you'd configured your iTunes Library to be saved at /mnt/itunes and it's served from afp://mediaserver.your.net/path/to/itunes you would configure an automount to mount the AFP server at /mnt/itunes.
    Since its an automount, the OS wouldn't mount the server until some process tried to read /mnt/itunes.
    There are several ways of specifying automounts, and for each there are several tutorials online that walk you through the process. Try Mike Bombich's site for a starter.

  • Syntax for delete statement within a procedure

    within a procedure i tried to delete the table using
    delete table tablename;
    but it is showing error that
    PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    PL/SQL: ORA-00903: invalid table name
    whether we have to use execute immediate delete table tablename;
    or this syntax is correct

    Hi ,
    i think if you want to use the delete
    then it shld be delete from tablename --> this'll delete all rows
    but if u want to use execute immediate then you might as well use TRUNCATE --> provided you need not have these data written to the log file (if you need for recovery later better use DELETE)
    i.e EXECUTE IMMEDIATE ('TRUNCATE TABLE tbl_name');
    hope this helps

  • Proper CSS syntax for...

    Awhile back, Murray gave me this simple thumbnail border
    hover code :
    img.tn {
    border:1px solid #72472B;
    a:hover img.tn {
    border:1px solid #FFF;
    Trying to extend the lesson learned to other parts of the
    site, I created
    this :
    img#modal {
    border:1px solid #FFF;
    a:hover img#modal {
    border:1px solid #993300;
    Which, I thought, would created a white border on all images
    within
    overlaying div id="modal" (with a #993300 border hover
    color). But neither
    of the 2 borders is showing around images in that div.
    What am I doing wrong? Besides listening to Linkin Park, I
    mean.

    You still have not gotten it.
    img#modal selects the image tag with ID="modal", not the
    image tag's
    container. Kim has the answer.
    This is not a syntax problem - it's an understanding
    problem....

  • What is proper path syntax for home folder for users

    I'm taking over for someone who has left the organization.
    They have used two methods for setting up a home folder for each AD user. I think they did this because over time they learned some things and just changed the way they did things. I'm not sure, but I'm trying to understand which is best to use going forward.
    We use 2003 - and 2008R2 environment for AD.
    We have a folder on our server called D:\userfiles
    In this folder we have each department with a folder eg.
    D:\userfiles\hr
    D:\userfiles\accting
    D:\userfiles\department1
    etc.
    When we set up a User in AD we click on the Profile tab and then select H: as the "Home Folder" and then in the To box enter one of two paths.
    My question is which path is best. They both seem to work.
    The one with the $ at the end I think creates a share in the shared folder when you look at shared folders in the computer management on the server for that user.
    Anyway I'm not really sure which to use or what the difference is.   I would like to use one or other.
    We also have a script that is run when people log on but I'm unclear if that is just   a red herring in this discussion.
    Thanks.

    Hi stevwolf,
    Based on my understanding, you would like to know what the mean of the dollar sign($) at the end of the share name. Right?
    The share name which has the dollar sign($) at the end means it is a hiden share. Hidden shares are not listed when you look through the shares on a computer or use the
    net view command. In your case, the folder joebleow$ will not be liated in the path
    \\server1.

  • Proper URL Syntax for "Open Stream" Dialog Box

    Hello all,

    javascript:openPlayer('http://www.streamaudio.com/stations/player/pages/index.as p?headertext=KGSRFM&Station=KGSRFM&OptIn=no;');
    I have tried removing everything up to http:// and some of the characters on the back end as well with no luck.
    Any suggestions?

    When I load that link in my browser, it tries to bring up an embedded Windows Media player. Windows Media is not a format that iTunes can handle. Sorry.

  • Linking to pages or destinations within PDFs not consistent on different computers

    Hi,
    I'm building a web page and want to link to specific pages on a pdf.  On some people's computers, it works, no problem.  On others, it doesn't.  Has anyone run into a problem like this?  The problem doesn't seem to be specific to what version of acrobat the user has.  All users are windows based.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

    That does sound like a bit of an odd issue, but I may have an explanation:
    As I recall (and Wikipedia confirms), Microsoft completely re-wrote the network stack for Windows Vista.  The changes implemented here could explain the better performance that you are experiencing on your Vista machine vs. your XP machine.  Some of the changes include:
    A native implementation of IPv6 (your UML290 uses IPv6 to communicate)
    A complete overhaul of IPv4

  • Change images/content within PDF using controls?

    Hi,
    Sorry about the title of the question -- not sure how to phrase it. Basically I need to know:
    Is it possible, within a PDF, to give the viewer an option to switch content using a dropdown list, or radio buttons or some other form of control.
    So, lets say I have an image on the pdf, and a drop-down next to it. If the user pick 'A' from the drop-down, they get one image, if 'B' another. Similar thing for a piece of text.
    Is this something that can be done (HOW it could be done that would be awesome to know also : ) ?
    A similar side-question:
    Is it possible to allow a user to "upload" an image into a pdf? Something like having a placeholder for an image on the PDF, and an UPLOAD button, that lets the user browse for an image, which will then go into the placeholder (and made to fit). Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance for any info,
    Andrey

    Hey Data_bitz
    Let me see if I understand correctly:
    Content is in Workflow A.
    Exception occurs the content goes to another workflow (or step) assigned to the "exception" alias.
    Now you want the members of the exception alias to figure out where the content should really go and reroute it to that workflow.
    Is that right?
    There are a number of ways to do this but here is one using sub workflows and jumps.
    If so you should do the following
    Workflow A = step 1.. step N, exception step, final step, exit
    In the exception step entry event check for the custom metadata field value. If present, stay in the step, if absent or set to some automatic default, skip the exception step and continue to final step.
    In the exception step update event check for a custom metadata field value that indicates what exception resolution workflow the content should go into.
    Have a jump defined for each exception resolution workflow and a return step that comes back to the final step of Workflow A (that last return step is optional).
    The idea is that your exception managers (members of your exception alias take a look at the content, figure out what workflow is needed, select the workflow from a metadata option list that only appears when the doc is in workflow (you do this with profiles), and effectively "assign" it to the users in that particular exception resolution workflow.
    You really do not want to be changing security groups in the middle of a workflow as it breaks the security paradigm of the document.
    hope this helps!

  • What is the proper HTML code for I linking to a destination in a .pdf file in firefox?

    If I create an HTML link to a destination within a .PDF file, it works fine in IE but not in Firefox. The code I use is this:
    <a href="website/pdf-file.pdf#destination-name>

    Cool. Thanks to you both.
    I vaguely recall doing a "chmod 700" on my previous machine. Those strict permissions survived the migration to this one it seems. "chmod 755" will be fine now. I wanted to know what the default was. Now I do Thank you!
    Here is a quote from the Wikipedia entry on Filesystem_permissions:
    <it>"The execute permission, which grants the ability to execute a file. This permission must be set for executable binaries (for example, a compiled c++ program) or shell scripts (for example, a Perl program) in order to allow the operating system to run them. When set for a directory, this permission grants the ability to traverse its tree in order to access files or subdirectories, but not see files inside the directory (unless read is set)."</it>

  • Pages Tables Doesn't recognize styles for TOC within table.

    It seems to me that the answer is to either tables to get the info OUT of the table (i.e. make several large tables into smaller ones and then pull the titles out of the table and change style), or get Pages to recognize style within table.  Any ideas how to do either?! Thanksx

    Only text in the Text Layer of a Word Processing Template is processed for TOC entries. No amount of manipulating the tables will change this basic behavior.

    Hi,
    No extar OBYC setting for MM STO as you alreday have BSX key assigned with G/L account.
    STO within the company code which is called Intra-Company STO. Here all Control is on Schedule Line Categories where movement type linked to it and Schedule Line Category with item category which in turn then links to general item category which are need to be there in a material master for STO process.
    You have process as
    A. Create STO in ME21N with document type UB at Receiving Plant.
    B. Create Delivery in VL10B from Supplying Plant
    C. PGI in VL02N from supplying Plant
    D. Goods Receipt in MIGO at Receiving Plant
    No accounting document will be generated at GR but all the accounting document will be generated while doing PGI only. The accounting document as following:

  • Query Syntax for Dynamic Navigation Menu

    I'm trying to build a Navigation menu from a query using the following syntax:
    select LEVEL,
           LABEL,
           LINK,
           'NO' as IS_CURRENT,
           null as IMAGE
      from V$RC_MENUS
    where CLUB = :APP_CLUB
    start with PID is null
    connect by prior ID = PID
    order by SEQUENCE, LABEL
    The query itself works fine for all values of APP_CLUB but it only generates the menu entries for some values of APP_CLUB, but not others. The SEQUENCE value determines the order of the entries within each level. Is this the correct syntax for a query-based navigation menu? How does it determine which sub-levels belong to a parent?  Does the ordering of the resultset have any impact on how the menu is generated?

    As stated in the documentation:
    ...do not specify either ORDER BY or GROUP BY, because they will destroy the hierarchical order of the CONNECT BY results. If you want to order rows of siblings of the same parent, then use the ORDER SIBLINGS BY clause.
    Try:
    select LEVEL,
