Developer Certificate

Good afternoon, I am researching how to set up and configure about 30 different Apple devices in my network.  From my research, I have found that the method I believe I am going use, is using a Mac Mini with OS X Server, and utilizing the Configurator and MDM services to manage them.  A question I can't find a clear answer on is the issue of certificates.  Do I need to purchase a developer certificate to push changes, manage devices, push applications, and maintain security standards on those devices or can a Self Signed Certificate do the job?
Thank you in advanced.

1.  Join the iOS program here: https://developer.apple.com
2.  Buy a Mac.

Your single developer certificate is used for multiple apps by you in the store.
We aren't told the maximum quantity. See the guidelines: App Store Review Guidelines for iOS Apps

  • How do you get a developer certificate to run programs on an iphone?

Argh! This is so frustrating, In one of the help documents it says this:
    Obtaining a Developer Certificate
A developer certificate is a certificate Xcode uses to code sign your application before it uploads it to your device for testing.
    To get a developer certificate:
Launch Keychain Access, located in /Applications/Utilities.
Choose Keychain Access > Certificate Assistant > Request a Certificate From a Certificate Authority.
    In the Certificate Information window:
In the User Email Address field, enter your email address.
In the Common Name field, enter your name.
In the “Request is” group, select the “Saved to disk” option.
    Click Continue.
The Certificate Assistant saves a certificate signature request (CSR) file to your Desktop.
Upload your CSR file to the iPhone Dev Center.
Download your developer certificate and the Apple Root and Apple WWDR certificates from the iPhone Dev Center.
Double-click each certificate to install them on your computer.
But where do you upload the certificate? Where is the upload button? Please help. Thank you very much.

You have to be accepted into the Apple Beta program before any of that works.

  • Airdrop breaks after installing developer certificate

I'm setting up a new MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion for iOS development and trying to copy files via Airdrop from my old MacBook Pro running Lion. This was working perfectly yesterday.
Last night, I added my iOS developer certificate to the keychain on the new MacBook Pro (it's also installed on the old MacBook Pro). Now when I try to transfer files from the old machine to the new one, I get the error message: "Xxx" declined your request.  If I attempt to transfer a file from the new MacBook Pro to the old one, or to another Mac running Mountain Lion, I get this error message: The Apple ID certificate for "Xxx" is invalid. The transfer has been canceled.  The name on my developer certificate is the same as the name set for my user account.
Removing the developer certificate from the keychain (without restarting the machine) doesn't change this behavior.  Does anyone know a workaround for this problem?

Can the two versions operate on the same machine at the same time? My application uses one DB on 9i and one on 10g. Shutting down one of their listeners would only work if one listener can handle requests for both DB's no?

  • Unable to obtain a development certificate in Xcode

Please bear with me - I'm new to Apple development. I'm trying to follow the "Start Developing iOS Apps Today" tutorial, and I reached the point where I'm supposed to obtain a development certificate in Xcode.
It instructs me to open the Organizer window, click Devices, select Provisioning Profiles, click Refresh, and log in with my Apple Developer user name and password.
However, when I do that, the "Sign in with your Apple ID" dialog keeps reappearing again and again, even though I fill in the correct details (with which I had successfully enrolled as an iOS Developer before). At the same time, the Organizer window seems to be "stuck" on "Fetching team list...".

    Probably solved:
After lots of experimenting, it appears I must check the "Remember my password in my keychain" option in the log-in dialog.

  • Error in Viewer Builder importing PNS p12 Development Certificate

I am getting an error in the Viewer Builder importing the PNS P12 Development Certificate.
I have already made the certificate for PNS Production/Distribution and for Development.
I was successfully able to import the PNS p12 Production/Distribution Certificate.
When I went to the next field to import the certificate for PNS Development - error says "Not finding expected label 'Apple Development IOS Push Services:' or 'Apple Development Push Services:' in this certificate"
I followed the same process for both PNS Distribution and Development Certificates.
Why would one work and one not? The Viewer Builder gives very little feedback?
    Dave

I've been running into this same problem for DAYS now with an app I'm trying to build, except for me it's the production PNS p12 certificate.
I've tried creating a new app several (countless, actually) times. Since I never get to the point where I can save it, I've had to create a totally new app at every attempt—is this what happened to you? And it eventually worked?
I've also installed and uninstalled Viewer Builder a few times now and the same problem occurs.
BTW, I send my certificate to Adobe and they said that it was valid.

  • Windows 7 - No Safari Developer Certificate message in Extension Builder

I have acquired and installed developer certificate for Safari 5 as per instructions provided along the way.
But when i open Extension Builder, a red message appears on top saying "No Safari Developer Certificate"
And it also keeps Install and Build Package buttons disabled thus i am unable to do much with Extension Builder.
Guys need workaround for this rather quickly, thanks for your help.

Some people have suggested ensuring that the certicate is placed in the "login" keychain and that Trust is set to "Always Trust". This worked for some people, but it didn't work for me on Mac OS Leopard.

  • ADF Mobile : iOS Developer Certificate and Provisioning profile for Team

    Hi,
We are starting to build Mobile apps using ADF Mobile. In order to deploy on to iOS devices, Developer Certificates are a mandate. When you go to developer.apple.com, there is a option to Buy Individually or For a company. Query is how should one go about buying the Developer certificates, since we would be working as a team, would it be better to buy as a Company or Individual Certificates? Also if some one can share the implications of the individual versus company certificates/provisioning profile, much appreciated.
    Regards
    Naveen

    Hi,
At a high level, as an individual (annual fee is $99 USD) allows you to deploy to developer devices (i.e. register the device in Apple Developer portal), and distribute through the app store (only).
As an enterprise (annual fee is $299) development program, you canalso deploy to developer devices that are registered, as well as distribute the app directly to any device within your company. Technically you can deploy an app compiled with Enterprise Certificate to any device, but Apple SDK terms specify that it can only be deployed to company internal devices.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • Cannot download or revoke development certificate

This is a problem that I've seen reported in another thread, but I thought it was a good idea to highlight this specific problem, in case others are experiencing it:
After creating a development certificate, I am unable to download it. Clicking on the name or the download button results in a "Failed to download certificate" message. When I try to revoke the certificate (in the hopes of creating a new one which might work), I get a "Failed to revoke certificate" message.
Obviously, I cannot create a development provisioning profile without a development certificate. When I try to create a create a provisioning profile, it says that I need to create a development certificate first. So, my dev cert is listed, but I can't download it or remove it, or add a new one.
I can create, download and revoke distribution certificate, however.
Has anyone encountered this problem, or does anyone have a definitive solution?

    Hi edge17,
Yes, I'm still blocked at this stage.
What I don't really understand however is that, at some stage, I think I managed to download my developper certificate because I have it on my disk.
Actually, I have the 2 certificates on my disk :
    - the AppleWWDRCA.cer
    - the developer_identity.cer (I think this is the default name for the development certificate right ?)
But at this stage, two issues :
    - I cannot create a development provisioning profile (my development certificate is not suggested in the add profile page, just a "Please create a Development Certificate" that goes to a page "you already have a development certificate" )
    - so I wanted restart from scratch all the process and revoke the certificate, but I can't (cannot revoke)
So in the end I'm stuck.....

  • Apple Developer Certificates

It is said that the 3rd party applications would only be installed on the Mountain Lion if it has the Apple Developer certificates. Can you please let us know  if the application stops working if the developer ID expires after a year and the application is still being circulated but not from the app store?

Certificates are only valid for a limited time. The installer would indicate an expired certificate.

  • Your iOS Development certificate has been revoked. What can i do?

    Hi,
    the message is:
You have revoked your certificate, so it is no longer valid.
    Certificate: iOS Development
    Team Name: ********
Any provisioning profiles that include this certificate are no longer valid and must be regenerated for future use.
    Best regards,

The thing is that we didnt do anything - just uploaded the latest update of the mobile app.
    Any idea?

  • N95 developer Certificate signing

Hi there. I previously signed my N95 with a developer certificate in order to install flipsilent. I created an account at symbiansigned.com and followed the necessary steps to sign the phone and it worked perfectly.....that is until the new N95 firmware update was installed on my phone. Now I need to create a new developer certificate but symbiansigned.com will not let me create a new certificate but i can still download my previous certificate generated by symbiansigned but i don't have the original .key file which was used to generate the certificate. Is there a way I can sign the phone with the previous developer certificate while not having the original files i used to create my initial certificate? or is there a way i can create a new developer certificate on symbiansigned.com?
    thanks

  • How can i install a safari developer certificate?

i tried installing my developer certificate and it still show that their is no certificate installed or found.

Now which is one time you say you want the old Safari back now you say you want a new Safari.
Please download and install EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
Run it and post the report here.
Maybe if we see the EtreReport on your iMac that might give us a clue about your Safari that has gone weird.

  • Do I need to submit iOS developer certificate to apple store?

I had registered iOS developer certificate but when I login to DPS App Builder require me to register iOS developer program. Do I need to submit my iOS developer certificate to apple store? To activate my certificate.

What do you mean when you say that DPS App Builder requires you to register iOS developer program? While building the app, you need to specify certificates created using the Apple iOS developer program. If you're Single Edition, see the step-by-step publishing guide. If you're Pro/Enterprise, see the publishing companion guide.
