Developing A DMM Custom GUI application

I am a student and very new to Labview and much of it seems very overwhelming. I am trying to develop an application with my custom GUI which simulates a DMM. The input will be a digital input from the keyboard, and looking for an output of resistance, voltage, and current. I'm not really sure where to start coding, or how to develop such an application, So a point in the right direction would be appreciated,
Thanks for any help possible

Your greatest asset in this situation is probably going to be the LabVIEW examples. Go to the help menu, look for the examples, and just start searching. You may have to look at a few examples to find all of the elements you need.
Once you have gone through those, just post here if you have any more questions.

  • Query on rendering the Human Tasks in the customized GUI application.

    Hi All,
In oracle11g BPEL, Is there any way to render the Human Tasks in the Customized GUI (Weblogic Portal) application rather that using the applications like "Oracle BPM WorkList"?. Does the Oracle11g BPEL supports this ?. My requirement is that, i need to render the Human tasks inside my own GUI application. I do not want to allow the end user of my application to use the other GUI applications like Work List to wotk up on the human tasks. Instead of this, User must be able to access and work up on the BPEL human tasks through my Customized GUI (Weblogic Portal) application. Is there any way in Oracle11g BPEL to achieve the required functionality?.

    Hi Naga
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/apirefs.1111/e10660/toc.htm
    1. I would not recommend using APIs unless and otherwise if you do not have any other option. You can always create the TaskForms in your own custom pages using out of box generated bindings for each .TASK file. This gives more flexibility. There are lots of stuff associated with a Task apart from your own custom payload like full Task details, system attributes, headers, history, comments/attachments etc. You do not want to use APIs to get all these.
The below 2 links should give you an overview of overall architecture of a Workflow and TaskForms.

Once you have basics covered, refer oracle docs also that shows how to reuse a single project.

  • Which is the best and user freindly IDE for developing Java GUI application

Please advice me if there is any good IDE for developing all kind of Java applications.
I m confused about which IDE to use.
I have Searched on Net also. and most of the answers i found was for JBuilder and JBoss.
But cant confirm until u guys suggest me.
Because i think this is the best place to ask questions about java.
    Please advice

If you're developing JSPs and Servlets....
I've found that using Eclipse (which is free) coupled with the MyEclipse plug-in (an advanced J2EE specific plug-in which costs $29.99USD/year) was the best for me. I've tried several free J2EE Eclipse plug-ins, didn't like them. Wasn't a big fan of NetBeans either, but I liked it tons better than the other Eclipse plug-ins.
Therefore, IMHO for free I'd go with NetBeans, for a small fee I'd go with Eclipse/MyEclipse plug-in.
If you are new to J2EE but not to Java, you may want to consider going straight to JSF and Sun's Java Studio Creator. This is not free, but the fee is one-time and development is (mostly) visual using Java Studio Creator.

  • Running a GUI application without holding command prompt

    Hi there ,
I have developed a GUI application using Swing. After compiling the same successfully , when I run the same , presently , I am running it like ,
    c:\> java xxx
where c:\ is the general command prompt on a Windows machine where I can type in my commands like javac or java and xxx is the class file name . Now till I complete using my GUI application and exit from the same , the command prompt will also be there ( and probably displaying the output of my System.out.println ) . So , two sessions are running , one is just the command prompt and another is the actual GUI application.
How can I avoide this ? e.g. when I type command "notepad" and press enter , notepad is started and the command prompt returns after starting notepad i.e. the notepad and the command prompt are not related now , I can close the command intrepreter and still notepad is running . What should I do to create such a Java GUI application ? Please advice .

If I understand you correctly this is something that happens in linux also. And I believe that you can solve this by creating to shortcut to this program.
And the shortcut or link to application will be the command line that you use to run the Java Application.
    i.e.
    java c:\javadir\subjavadir\application.class
And I believe that this will allow it to run without the command prompt. Just showing the GUI and no additional command prompt window. Freeing the command prompt is something that I don't know how to do in either OS.
I use the Link To Application method because I ultimately don't need to have multiple windows for one application. Even though it is nice to be able to kill the Application by destroying the command-prompt session (in case your app causes lock-ups during testing).
Post your results . . . I'm not even sure that I'm being clear at all with my explanation to your question.

What's the type of appilication you have developed, is it WDABAP based or ...
Ask your portal consultant to create an iview for your application based on your application type (I.e WD ABAP/Transaction code etc) and assign that to page and then under role of ESS for Work & Time workset in portal content admin.

  • Implement Screenflow using PAPI in Custom GUI

    Hi
We are trying to implement our custon GUI (.NET) using the PAPI api , we are able to retrieve the Views /Presentations / Inbox and other view instances . However I want some suggestions regarding how to implement the Screen flows /Process Work Items in the custom GUI using the PAPI call . Is there any API's which are already available to do these .
I see that the API has options like runActivity etc within the session , am I on the right track (however I am unclear how to achieve the screenflow in API mode)
    Thanks

Probably is not what you want but have you consider implement the interactive activities as external and build them in .NET?.
I think there are other threads in this forum and product documentation that explain how you implement an interactive activity as external but let you explain in few words.
1.- You create an external resource of type server configuration where you will have your .NET external application. The engine when executing this activity is going to redirect yo to that url adding the user, the activity id and the instance id.
2.- You implement the interactive activity as external, main task external.
3.- In the bottom part you put the url already defined in step 1.
4.- You define a prepare method. This is the method that you have to execute once the execution has been redirected to your .NET external application, you have the instanceid and then you can perform the prepare with PAPIWS. With the prepare you interchange information with the engine, you can define out arguments that you take in your application and also the engine blocks that instance to prevent other user execute the same activity to the same instance. Once yo have the control of the execution in your external application you can show the process data in your .NET client, modify it...
5.- You define a commit method, this is the method that you have to invoke, again with PAPIWS from your external application once you have finished the activity (the activity can be a .NET screenflow in your case). Performing the commit method you pass information back to the engine and the engine unblocks the instance execution.
I think that if you want to have the interactives built in .NET this is the recommended approach.

  • Customized orion-application.xml

Another OTN thread on this topic:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/message.jsp?id=988554
The middle of that thread (read the beginning to get the full context) has an answer relevant to your question here.
    ------ begin quoted --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hello,
JDeveloper 9.0.2 is limited in this area unfortunately. For the use case you are describing, there are two work-arounds:
    1) Use an Ant build file (or any other script) as you mentioned.
    2) Do your testing in the embedded OC4J server instead of an external OC4J server. You should then be able to make manual changes to the orion-application.xml file used by the embedded server -- it's in the Workspace directory and has a name like "Workspace1-oc4j-app.xml".
We were expecting users to use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to configure production J2EE applications, since JDeveloper is a development tool whereas OEM is the real server administration tool. For some time, we've debated internally on the JDev team whether that kind of feature separation across Oracle products makes sense. It's clear that developers like you need to perform some administration tasks in the course of testing a production app, so we focused on allowing that for JDeveloper's integrated OC4J server ("embedded OC4J") and left the administration of an external OC4J server to OEM.
For future JDeveloper releases, we will probably have an increasing level of direct support for OC4J administration, but to what extent we will pursue that is still in discussion.
For 9.0.3, I've filed bug 2392697 to track the issue you are reporting (with reference to this OTN thread) to make sure that it is resolved properly for the 9.0.3 release.

  • Deploying a custom Web Application in Oracle Apps 11.5.10..Urgent

    Hi,
I need to develop and deploy a custom J2EE based Web Application in Oracle Apps (11.5.10).
Is it mandatory to build it using OA framework?
As an example, If I develop a "CD Library" J2EE application using JSPs(View),Servlet(Controller) and Utility classes(Model),will it be supported during upgrades in future.
I have done the same in 11.5.9. (which doesn't have OA Framework support).
I had deployed JSPs in $OA_HTML, Servlet and model classes in $OA_JAVA.
I understand that the same is possible in 11.5.10.Can I follow the same approach for 11.5.10?What are the pros and cons?
Basically, Why should I go for OA Framework to develop and deploy a custom J2EE WebApplication though I can do it as explained above.
If you are aware of any article on this please share it with me.
    thanks,
    Gowtam.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    To conclude my understanding,
If I create a new J2EE web Application with
    - n number of JSPs
    - 1 servlet
    - and n number of Java model classes,
I can deploy all these in $OA_HTML and $OA_JAVA and use it as custom application.
    I need few more clarifications
My JSPs do not follow Oracle BLAF standards
Java model classes are not BC4J objects
The servlet is unique for the custom application and page flow does not include invoking OA.jsp.
Stil, can i continue with my approach?
Will it be supported during upgrade?
    Thanks,
    Gowtam

  • A calculation intensive GUI application

    Hi all,
I am developing a GUI application that involves drawing of a graph layout, with nodes and links..
i get through the graph drawing part and I lay out the nodes and edges correctly. My real concerns are adding the user interactions to this graph drawing.
I want to allow the user to drag nodes around the panel, be able to track which node they are visiting or which edge the mouse is currently present on. Also on selecting a particular node I wish that all the others are drawn in gray.
My thoughts are to provide the user with a toolbar, that will have buttons for each of the interaction possible, Hide, Gray, Reorder, etc.. also I need to locate where the mouse pointer is. So for that I provide a panel and as the mouse moves over each line, i populate a label in one of the bottom panels.
I am presently locating that the mouse is on a particular edge / node by simply iterating through the vector and using a contains (Point p ) test. But this is really intensive as my application has 1000s of edges. So everytime the mouse moves, I have to check for most of them to determine which node/edge is the mouse over.
I have to do the same computations when the mouse is clicked as i will be selected a particular node/edge on a mouse click.
Will the command pattern be helpful in my case, I can represent each of the interactions as a command?
How can I make my application efficient and not check through the entire 1000s of elements to determine where the mouse is ? ( i do break out once i find a match but that is still ridiculous)
Will SwingInvoker be of any help ? I do need the return value so dispatching the event to a separate thread might not really help as I have to wait for the computation to complete..
lastly are there classic tutorials / design pattern examples for such applications where there is a lot of interactivity with the drawn components?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
I'm developing a custom WD Application which has to call the already implemented ESS application such as Personal Information application and I'm struck with the following questions:

  • Custom FPM Application: application variant and self services config in PCD

    Hello,
I've created a webdynpro based on FPM framework and created a FPM Application using the Self-Services administrator too.
My question is, how do I get the application variant so that I can create an iview out of this custom fpm application?
For example, the perspective of my FPM application has the custom wd FPM View and I'd like to add more fpm views to it.
If I want to create a page for this FPM app, I need to be able to "see" these added FPM views as application variants while creating the iviews and page.
For all the delivered SAP components/dcs there already present the FPM Applications in the PCD.
How about custom developed FPM apps?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Embed labview generated code with c++ gui application

    Hey everyone ,
I am very new to labview and trying to learn it  ... but before that i wanted to make sure a doubt which i have in my mind , the problem is that i have a realtime GUI application built on c++ widgets and i want to change the existing DSP block in this application with the code generated by using the LABVIEW , i am sorry that have very
less amount of knowledge regarding labview so i turn up with thread ... So can generate c++ code for the DSP blocks designed in labview ... if yes how and if not why . Any
sincere help will be appreciated . And I very much apologise for any mistakes in my question .
    Thanks

Thanks rolf, is it possible that i use labview to disign my DSP block only and the output be fed to my custom c++ blocks and also wxwidget GUI ... suggest some means thanks ...
Well, have you followed the link I gave in my post? You can download an evaluation version of the add-on and try it out in LabVIEW. It generates C code, not C++, but that should be no problem, since it is very easy to call C code from a C++ application. I can't vouch for the suitability of this add-on for you, nor do I know the exact price range so that are certainly things you have to do for your own.
As to nathans solution, that could work too. If your application is for Windows, or MacOS X, or Linux you can create a shared library from your LabVIEW code and call it as such from your C++ application.
Personally I would find it a rather roundabout way to include LabVIEW generated code in a wxWidget application. One of the strengths of LabVIEW is not only signal acquisition and analysis but also simple GUI design, at least as long as you are after a functional GUI, and not a very specific style of a GUI. So I would never even consider to do the GUI part with anything but LabVIEW if some other parts are already to be done in LabVIEW.

  • How to deploy the custom java application for self regaistration in portal?

    hi,
I have created a custom java application in NWDS for Self Registration of new users.I am working on EP 7.02 and the standard self registration application is a Web dynpro java application.
How can i deploy my custom java application built as a par file in place of the Web dynpro java application?
    Thanks,

    Hi Amarys,
If you have developed the PAR file in NWDS then you can deploy the PAR in the server with NWDS ( [Check Required Settings |NWDS 7.0 does not deploy PAR;) or in server directly (system administrator > support >> portal runtime >> administration console)
