Developing a Generic Report Wizard

Hi
My application requires to develop a generic report wizard, using  labview.
which allows the user to choose the required signals and respective contents
and layout pattern,
can anybody suggest any idea as to how to start on this, or has anybody
earlier worked on this kind of development using labview, if so please can you
help me out
rags

Hi
If you want to develop a wizard, use the LabVIEW Wizard template, which was posted in another thread.
It uses a tab-control which pages are switched using a button. Just have a look at it.
Hope this helps.

    Hi.
I am running developer 6i on my home machine (with Oracle 8i, v 8.1.7). I am at work at the moment, and I can't recall what the Reports version is. The same error occurs with Forms.
The filename that I downloaded is called 'd2k6irelease2.tar'.
I downloaded the version that is currently on Oracle OTN's download site, so I presume that is the latest version that should contain all patches, updates, etc.
    Thank you for responding!

  • APEX 3.0: Create SQL Report Wizard raises a Javascript error

    Hi,
in the "Create SQL Report Wizard" (Create Page/Report/SQL Report) when you click onto the "Generic Columns" radio group the following JavaScript error is displayed.
    disItem.style has no properties
disableItems("html_RadioValue('P4795_GENERIC_COLS')=='N'", "P4795_MAX_COLUMNS", undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined, undefined)

Check out the ApexLib Framework: http://apexlib.sourceforge.net

    Sharon,
sorry was not clear enough. It's just a Javascript error which shows up, it doesn't stop me to create the report. I just noticed that there seems to be a functionality which isn't completely implemented.
I'm using FF 2.0 with the Firebug plugin, that's why I immediately see if an error occurs on a page.
Reproduced the same behavior on apex.oracle.com
    1) Create Page
    2) Report
    3) SQL Report
    4) Press Next
    5) Press Next
    6) Click on "Generic columns" radio option
    7) In FF go to Tools/Error Console => you should see the error (maybe you have to filter for Errors)

  • Generic reporting tool in webdynpro abap

    Hi Experts,
Can you please let me know if GRT(generic reporting tool) can be used in Webdynpro ABAP application created using FPM.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sonbia

    Hello Sonia,
what is the GRT? I've had a search through SCN and cannot find any reference to it - is it a standard SAP product? I would appear to me not to be - and as such I'd guess that there isn't any standard UIBB for it.
If it is a custom solution - then if it is developed in WDA then it should be relatively simple to wrap it in a UIBB layer and embed it into an FPM application.
If it's not developed in WDA, then I'd suggest that the answer is a clear "No".
Do let us know what you mean by GRT - perhaps provide a link to some SAP help about the product?
    Thanks,

  • P6 R6 - Report Wizard

For some reason I am struggling today to create a report that shows a Budget Line Item Code (BLIC) Summary by BLIC, Resource, by month broken down by week AND that shows planned cost & actual cost for that period, planned cost, actual cost, & period total. phew My boss is requesting this complex report so I have to produce.
Currently I am using the Wizard. Subject area = Activity Resource and Role Assignment; Columns = Activity Name, Planned Cost, Actual Cost; Group and sort = Total, BLIC1, BLIC, Resource ID Name (grand totals & summaries); Filter = Open State equals open and Actual Cost is not equal to $0.00; Timescale Start = 03Sep11, Date interval = Week, Timescale Finish = 23Sep11, Show time intervals, show period total, time interval field = actual cost.
What I get is something that looks like this:
    BLIC Summary
    Budget Line Item Code
         Budget Line Item Code
Activity Name     3-Sep-11     10-Sep-11     17-Sep-11     Planned Cost     Actual Cost     Period Total
    CAP
         CAP.XXX.XXXX     $756.00      $2,240.00      $6,160.00      $189,897.34      $106,870.96      $9,156.00
         jdoe          $560.00      $1,120.00                $1,680.00
         bwegman               $1,680.00                $1,680.00
         djohn     $588.00      $1,008.00      $1,680.00                $3,276.00
         beevus     $168.00      $672.00      $1,680.00                $2,520.00
Any ideas on how I can get planned & actuals for each week (9/3, 9/10, 9/17) followed by the cummulative planned & actual costs for that period only (9/3 - 9/23)?

    Hi,
When you turn off the report wizard at startup, it will disable it for the current DIAdem session, i.e. until you close DIAdem. It will still be on when you start DIAdem the next time.
To turn it off permanently, follow these steps:
    1. Turn off the report wizard (in settings-desktop parameters-general-report wizard)
    2. Select the 'Window' menu and then choose 'Close all'
    3. Either click on the blue disk icon (labelled "Save desktop") or chose the "File" menu and then "Save settings ..."
    4. Overwrite your "*.ddd" file typically "desktop.ddd" with the new settings
    Done.
From now on, the Report Wizard should no longer show up.
Please let me know if this helped.

  • Unable to change RFC destination in IT Performance reporting wizard

    Hi Experts,
I am setting up IT Performance Reporting in my Solman EHP1 system. In the first page of the PErformance reporting wizard, it asked me for RFC destination from BI to Solman(1st field) and Solman to BI (2nd field). I initially entered an existing RFC destination that we are already using in a separate application that has a user with very-limited authorization. Now, I am trying to change the RFC destination by running the same "Configure IT Performance Reporting" wizard but both fields are already GREYED out.
I tried deleting the RFC destination previously defined in an attempt to reenable the fields but only the 2nd field was enabled. When I try to continue the setup, it results into a Shortdump because it is still looking for the initially defined RFC dest which is defined in the 1st field that cannot be edited.
SAP has not yet provided us with a solution.Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

You canprovide the RFC destination in DOE administration portal. Goto Configurations link and search for "BACKEND DESTINATION" parameter in "BACKEND CONFIGURATION" link. Here you can provide RFC destination at SWCV level or at Data object level.
After deleting RFC destination in SM59, it will never take you to backend system.

  • How to reference the value of items in a generic report

    Hello
I have created a generic report. The source is a PL/SQL-Function returning a query stored in a package of the parsing schema, using the apex_item package. I set the p_item_id values depending on p_idx and rownum. In the browser I can see the unique (id="...") of the items. The report works well.
One column is an analytical funtion and shows for every row the same value. The column is hidden. Depending on that value I want to show or hide buttons.
How can I get the value of this column. Apex_application.g_fxx don't work. Apex_application.g_fxx.COUNT =0 for all possible columns.
So how can I reference the value in the report.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hallo varad
    Should I do really?
The SQL is a function in a package returning a sql-string. It's a join over five tables (one outer join) refrences some other package variables. For testing purposes I put in into the region, but nothing changed. SQL is ok.
So here is the region source:

  • 3.1 Bug Report: "Enable Search" in Create SQL Report wizard

    Hi,
when "Enable Search" is set to Yes in the "Create SQL Report" wizard, the label template of the page items is set to NULL, it should be "Optional Label" (the default of the theme).
The PX_ROWS page item is not referenced in the "Number of Rows (Item)" property of the report. That means the user can choose what he wants, it never gets used.
BTW, it would be useful to write the PX_ROWS into a user preference when the page gets submitted and based the source type on this preference.
    Thanks for looking into it.

Create a report with two queries. First query has three groups, second has one that is linked to the detail of the first query. Then go into report wizard and define the report. Problem: Detail sections come out in freeform format. How do I get them into columnar format?

    hello,
it worked fine with me. i used group-above style and had 2 queries (one with tree groups and one with one group, linked to the first one.
the result was : all grouping columns in free-format and the details in a table.

Can any one help me in knowing the process other than uploading multiple templates.

    Hi,
Lets say you have two smart styles with X and Y, and runtime based on the number of pages, if you would like to modify the style, then check any standard table or structue which holds and responsible for the holding the style value.
If you can trace that, based on the coding we can modify accordingly.

  • Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the SQL as a param

Is it possible to create a generic report that accepts the FULL sql statement as a paramater and returns variable results based on this?
We have a requirement to have a generic export routine to spit out csv's from clicking on a web page hyperlink, which would need to accept a "new" sql statement for every run, each containing different columsn etc that would be needed in the output.
I was hoping could have a generic Oracle report, exporting delimited data format (and as such not using a layout) and somehow pass in the "new" sql statement as a parameter at run time - each sql statement would be different with different columns etc.
Is this possible with oracle reports ?
    thanks

If you need a simple dump of data you could try writing a report with a simple query such as
select 'Report title or column headers'
    from dual
    &data_query
then your &data_query parameter could be
    union select col1||','||col2 from data_table
If you are outputing a comma separated data dump the you can concatenate together your data into a single text field.
This would allow you to have a simple heading followed by the actual data. I guess you could extend this so that the 'Report title or column headers' from the first query was also a parameter to output your row headings i.e.
    select :column_headings_text
    from dual
    &data_query
Give it a go and good luck

I would like to see what the values are for each input variable e.g :b4 and :b5
Is there any generic way of reporting what these values are rather than explicity writing code for each individual SQL statement?
Is there a Pro*C method that gets the values of :b4 and :b5??
We are recording the last SQL statement to a text file but cannot see what the values are that caused the SQL query to fail.

My answer is only for 1. problem (about ORA-01458)
I think that you use declaration for cursor C0 with a varchar
variable before you ininitialize length (member .len of varchar
    structure) of this variable.
It's famous that many errors come from uninitialized varchar
    variables in Pro*C.

  • Report Wizard Help

I am trying to add another column to sum other columns across my report (horizontally), created by using the report wizard in portal. i was thinking of doing this by adding sql but i'm having difficulty. portal doesn't like my syntax. is there an easier way besides adding SQL? thanks in advance.

    michelle,
unfortunatly you posted your request to the ORACLE REPORTS forum but you are reffering to Portal reports, so your request should have been posted in the ORACLE PORTAL forum.
    regards,
