    Two things:
    - Completely remove and reinstall the Apple software by the following.  That link provides a link for Win &.
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    - If you still have a problem after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you likely have a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is then in order.

Need help? Some of my Ipods are not recognized by Itunes with my Windows 8 PC. (Ipod Nano 4th gen  and Ipod Nano 6th gen), but on my Windows 7 PC, they work fine.  My Ipod 3rd gen and Ipod shuffle work both on Windows 8 and 7 PC's.  On the non-working Ipods, the  Device sync test says "No device found". Already performed all of the Ipod device troubleshooting including reload Itunes, stop start Ipod device, changed drive letter...

  • Sync tests failed

I recently got a new computer. I transfered my music over from my old computer. But now my iPod mini will not sync and when I run the diagnostic the sync test fails. It is doing other weird stuff too like showing that my iPod has a capacity of 900 GB. How can I fix this?

I too am having this type of problem, I'm hoping for some real help here:
It has all stemmed from a recent occurrence of this error I get when trying to sync anything (Movies,Podcasts, etc):
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    R6025
    -pure virtual function call
I did some research and did a iTunes diagnostic and it says that there is a problem syncing one or more things with the my iPod and im hoping their is a matching solution. Anyone know what I should do? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes from scratch, using a registry cleaner, and an Adaware scan, all including individual restarts and such to no avail. I need a real genius to help me or an actual Apple representative!

  • I tunes won't sync.  'no i phone found' message when I preformed device sync test.

Today I had trouble getting i phone password to work (on the computer in i tunes).  Finally got that one fixed but now my i phone won't sync with computer.
I did the Device Sync Test.  Message said "no i phone found".  After several tries I was able to view my 'account page' in i tunes but cannot view
anything other than that.  Only the first page showing name, address, charge account info.  (no icons etc) though I can see my music page.  Any suggestions?

there was talk about one version of itunes removed the sync with outlook and relyed on the user setting up icloud to sync with the outlook and then sync the ios device with icloud
but then there was talk about changing that in the next version of itunes going back to sync without mixing icloud into the equation

  • Are device sync tests meant to work on 160GB iPod Classic

I have a 160GB iPod Classic that fails the synch test. Tried on two different computers (Windows 7, Windows XP) with same result. Is this a problem with the iPod Classic?

Is there any other symptoms like the fatal red X on the iPod display? Or no music after an iTunes Library sync?
If there are then do a disk diagnostic on your iPod, most likely hardsik is dying.

  • Error: "One or more sync tests failed"

For those who've had this issue, this may not solve your problem, but it fixed mine, so I figure it's worth trying...
I've just started experiencing this sync'ing problem with my iPod Touch (2G). Thought maybe it had something to do with some new music I had uploaded, maybe a playlist I had edited, etc etc...Nothing seemed to work. Couldn't even do a "Restore" on my Touch since iTunes would freeze up everytime I connected the USB cable. Rebooted, did everything I knew to do, all to no avail. iTunes either locked up, or, on the rare occasion when I could navigate through iTunes with my iPod connected, iTunes didn't recognize it.
    The problem? ZoneAlarm Firewall!!!
Why it just started this, I have no idea, but after umpteen things, and none of them working, I was manually closing everything down in my System Tray prior to rebooting AGAIN. As soon as I closed ZoneAlarm Firewall, voila! iTunes "unlocked" itself, my iPod was recognized, and iTunes immediately began "Syncing iPod Touch".
As I said, I don't know if this will help anyone else, but if you're running ZoneAlarm Firewall on your PC (I'm running XP Pro SP2), it might help to shut ZoneAlarm down and see if that solves your problem. It worked for me, and tomorrow, I'll be getting a different firewall.
This is not the first issue we've had with ZoneAlarm's firewall being a bit overzealous...
    Hope this helps someone out.

  • 3rd gen. nano fails Device Sync in Diagnostic Tests - Nike+ Run won't sync

I have not been having any trouble with my nano, iPhone 3G, or my wife's Touch until three days ago. Then, after a run, I tried to sync the nano (to upload my workout data) and it would not work. The iPod shows the workout and iTunes shows the workout in the Nike+ tab inside the iPod tree. However, the run still won't upload to Nike's site.
This cause me to look for solutions through iTunes. When I try to sync the nano, it only shows the sync info on iTunes for a second before saying "iPod sync is complete Eject before disconnecting" and my iPod shows the spinning sync icon for a little longer, but not long enough to sync. So, I ran the diagnostic tests through iTunes and the Device Sync Test. Results: No iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad found. Does this test only check for "touch devices"?
Sorry for the long post, I'm just trying to fully explain for the benefit of the helpful people!

  • My device is recognized by itunes but won't sync and failed the sync diagnostic test.  I've restarted the computer, reset the ipod . . . nothing works.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

iTunes shows the iPod is connected but doesn't show it in the drop down menu under Devices, and the "sync" option is grayed out, so I can't sync the nano with iTunes.  I ran the diagnostic tests and it shows the device is connected, but it failed the sync test - it said nothing was connected, even though it passed the connectivity test.  We've had the iPod for a few months but this is the first time we've tried to do anything with it.  It's fully charged but just won't sync.  I turned it off, turned it on.  I reset it.  I restarted the computer.  I'm not sure where to go from here.

A couple of things to check:
Are there any backups listed in iTunes/settings/devices? Since backing up is the first step of the sync process, iTunes might be stuck trying to read the content of the last backup in order to replace it with the new one.
Copy the whole backup folder to a safe place, delete the backup from the list afterwards and make sure that the folder has no content after that. The folder is located here:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files
After that, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". If you can backup manually, transfer your purchases the same way, to copy apps and purchased media to your iTunes. If this worked, you should be able to sync again.
To speed up the sync process, copy your photos to your computer prior to the sync and delete them on your ipod before you start.

Never mind, I think. I think I figured it out. There was 1 song (out of > 900!) that somehow had been purchased with the other ID - I have no idea how. Once I deleted that song, it stopped asking.
There may be something with the newest iTunes version too. I didn't think in older versions that the "On this iPod" list of songs was greyed out. But at least it syncs ok.

  • Itunes isn't letting me sync.  It is saying it could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.  Happening on all our devices.

    Restart your computer.

  • Failed sync tests - what can I do?

A couple of weeks ago I went to use my iPod and, strangely enough, it told me everything was empty. It said that I no longer had anything that I'd put on it, however after looking in the "About" section of my 80GB iPod Classic it read as though it had 60GB used - all in the "other" section.
This problem had just happened to my dad so I knew to try the 5R's... the only problem is, my iPod won't sync with my omputer anymore!
When I plug it in it'll charge as my computer recognizes it, however after running a diagnostics report I received this message:
    **** iPhone/iPod Touch Sync Tests ****
    **No iPhone or iPod found.
What should I do?! I can't restore it if it won't sync...
How can I reestablish a connection?

If the drive letter change doesn't work, there should be a way to manually reset the iPod from it's own interface.
Since yours is an iPod classic, you can do this by holding down the "menu" and "enter" (middle button) buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears on the screen.
I don't know why it'd be metioning, "Phone/iPod Touch Sync Tests ****," seeing how yours, like mine is a classic.
Btw, you can restore it if it doesn't sync. Often, iTunes will automatically let you do so when it can't access certain info about the unit. As long as iTunes can tell it's an iPod of some sort, then it should be able to restore it. It's too bad they stopped use of the iPod utility, separate from iTunes. You used to be able to wipe the whole thing with a windows or mac utility and restore it from there, but I've had problems with trying to do that with the built-in itunes version. Dumbing down the interface like that just makes it harder to troubleshoot.
