Difference between End User Layer & Business Area

Hi
Can you give me some input on the below
1. End User Layer Vs Business Area
2. Page Detail Table Vs Page Detail Cross tab
3. Can i create a Business Area with the help of a query... if so what is the advantage over the View .
Regards
Yram

Hi Yram,
1. EUL is a group of Business Area's.
2. those are two different kind of tables (like table vs. crosstab) with page items.
you can add the page items after you create the table as well (sheet-> edit
sheet)
3. you can create a folder out of sql (custom folder). you can't create the whole
Business Area out of the sql.
I don't think there is a advantage over view, I prefer views over custom folders,
I use the custom folder mostly for simple sql's such as List Of Values.

    Hi,
Worth checking that the user/responsibility has "Create/Edit Summaries" privilege and that the user/responsibility has "Allow Administration" access to the business areas.
Also check that the database user has CREATE/DROP/ALTER ANY MATERIALIZED VIEW and GLOBAL QUERY REWRITE (see http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13916_04/mging_sums.htm#i1011476 for full details)

  • You don't have access to any End User Layer table

    Hi
When I created a EUL using Discoverer admin, and also created a business area successfully, then I can't logon using same username in Discoverer desktop, My Discoverer version is 4.1.37. when I logon, I received error message read: You don't have access to any End User Layer table.
Could someone please give me some instruction, or guide me to do something.
    .

    Hi Prathima
You should not be able to connect to an Apps mode EUL as an end user in the end user tools.
As for administration, you need to log in as the owner of the EUL, a database user, and then assign admin rights to an Apps account. Many companies use the SYSADMIN Apps account for this purpose. After you have assigned an Apps user to have admin rights don't forget to grant that user admin privileges over each of your business areas.,
With this done you should then manage your Discoverer administration using the Apps account.
Page 14 to 20 of the document called Setting up an Apps mode EUL may help. This document is available for free from my website here: http://ascbi.com/downloads/downloads.htm

  • Difference between Session Facade and Business Delegate design patterns

Can someone tell me the differences between Session Facade and Business Delegate design patterns

    1. Session Facade decouples client code from Entity beans introducing session bean as a middle layer while Business Delegate decouples client code from EJB layer ( Session beans).
    2. SF reduces network overhead while BD reduces maintenance overhead.
    3. In SF any change in Session bean would make client code change.
While in DB client is totally separate from Session bean because BD layer insulate client from Session beans(EJB layer).
    3. In only SF scenario, Client coder has to know about EJB programming but BD pattern no EJB specialization needed.
4.SF emphasizes on separation of Verb, Noun scenario while BD emphasizes on separation of client(presentable) and EJB layer.
Anybody pls suggest more differences ?

  • Unable to connect to: End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.48.18

Hi, I have a problem about the Discoverer Desktop connection using Application users. I'm working with Discoverer 10g and eBS 11.5.9
So.., all my application users work perfectly when I login with Discoverer Viewer, but when I try to login with Discoverer Desktop (the Oracle application user check box is checked),I have the following behaviour:
unable to connect to: End User Layer Library - 10.1.2.48.18
This happens in production where recently they changed the password of the user APPS.
In which way can I re-login with my previous Application users ?
Is there anywhere a connection with the APPS password and the definition of Application users ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alessandro

Hi Gianluca, thanks for your reply !
Yes the versions are the same...but the problem is another one...
When I connect with an application user from the Desktop, the connection on the DB is not made with the application user, but always with the user 'APPS' !!
The problem is that on the DB there is a control which automatically kills all the APPS sessions.....so I can't connect with the Desktop on the EUL.....
    So, now my question is:
Why does Discoverer Desktop connect to the DB (and consequently to the EUL) with the user APPS, instead to make a connection with the application user I wrote into the initial connection form ???
Somewhere can I modify this behavior ?
    Thanks

  • Difference between impelementation rules and business logc.

    Hi all,
Please tell me what is the exact difference between implementation rules and business logic? And more importantly when and where they should be used?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Jayant Gupta

    Hi vasu,
from the point of view of possible transformation there are not differences.
The great difference is the following:
In Update Rules routines are defined for a single field for every key filed: for example you define the single routine for 0AMOUNT for every single Characteristic that define the key (0COSTCENTER - 0COSTELEMENT - ...). For every single DataField you can define a different routine also in terms of Key fields.
In transfer roules every routine is for every field without any kind of relation to the other fields.

  • You do not have access to any End User Layer tables

    Hello Guru's!
I'm having an issue with connecting/using EULs on Disco 10g - I have already installed 10g Admin and configured 2 EULs and also imported the sample data - they are all owned by DISCO user -
When I connect to http://discoserver:7778/discoverer/viewer, I get a connection screen - no connections are listed, so I click create connection - I give it a name, put in disco as my user, put my password in, put db_connect_string into the appropriate field, where db_connect_string is my actual connect string - and it gives me this error:
    Error
    Authentication Failed.
(You do not have access to any End User Layer tables)
I have access to these, as I'm the EUL owner - I've also tried this tho with other users that I have granted access to in the admin too (I've even granted access to these EULs to public - still no luck) - should I be using the db user and password or are there other places in 10g that I set up disco users?
If I should be using the db user and pass, why won't it see my EULs?

Hopefully CupJr got his answer as it's been over 2 years!
However, if you're having the same problem ...
    1. is this an Apps EUL and you're connecting as a database user (ie: the owner of the EUL)?
    2. have you set the gateway connection info correctly (again if an Apps EUL)? - found at: Tools -> Options -> Connection.

You'll need to switch between oracle homes, if you
plan to use single username. And need to source the proper environment file
I prefer having 2 different accounts, especially on

  • Difference between Real User Experience Insight and Webalizer?

    Dear All,
Can u tell me that is there any difference between Real User Experience Insight and Webalizer?
If both are functioning almost same then why RUEI is expensive
    Please must reply

Webalizer uses Web Server logs however RUEI does not use web server logs it monitors Network Traffic without interfering in application which does not affect application performance...
For using Webalizer Application code is modified but not in the case of RUEI
The most important one is that Webalizer does not provide Sufficient and Efficient information as does the RUEI because it can replay the whole session called FULL SESSION REPLAY, Which helps finding errrors on specific pages. Also helps finding delays in transactions.
RUEI is deployed either by copy port or Tapping which create duplicate copy of each request to web server and pass it to RUEI for Analysis

  • Difference between Guided Procedures and Business Workflow?

    Hi,
I'm new to workflows, so this question could be easy or absurd.
Is there a difference between Guided Procedures and Business Workflows? Or is this
the same thing with two names?
If it is different, when do I use which of them?
    Could both use UWL?
    Thanks a lot
    greetz

Workflow is a technology used to support business processes. You can make workflows without thinking/doing business processes. When you do business processes you will always wind up using workflow technology. All business process execution tools should by principle use a workflow engine at least SAP ones do. Not sure about others like Oracle BPEL tools for example.
SAP tools like GP and BPM/XI use either Netweaver Java or Abap workflow embedding the technical aspects of workflow design and runtime into the Netweaver stack simplifying the business user experience as it relates to designing and running business processes. But designing and running workflows using workflow tools directly still is very muc an IT challenge.

  • Difference between PDF user's password and PDF owner's password?

What is the difference between PDF user's and owner's passwords? When creating a document, which one to use?

The user password, if set, is what you need to provide in order to open a PDF. Acrobat/Reader will prompt a user to enter the user password. If it's not correct, the document will not open.
The owner password, if set, controls permissions, such as printing, editing, extracting, commenting, etc. Acrobat/Reader will disallow these things based on the permission settings. Acrobat will require this password if you want to set/change permissions.

That note is awful and should be witdrawn - amongst other things it makes it sound as if there is only one reason for buffer busy waits. There is an option to comment on such notes - I suggest you use it.
Going back a little further from Aman's description - and ignoring some of the internal details:
The buffer cache is split into a large number of small groups of buffered blocks; these groups are usually called "hash buckets" or "hash chains". If you need to find a block and it is buffered, Oracle can do some hashing arithmetic to work out which chain the block will be in.
The chains are protected by latches (typically a single latch protects 64 - 128 chains). You cannot examine a chain unless you are able to get the latch that protects it. So the commonest action you go through to view or modify a buffered block is:
    <ul>
    work out which chain
get the latch for the chain xxx
search along the chain to see if the block is in memory
attach a "pin" to the buffered block block if you find it (to make sure it can't be kicked out of memory)
    release the latch
do what you want to do with the buffered block ***
get the latch for the chain xxx
remove the pin from the buffered block
    release the latch
    </ul>
The two points marked xxx are where you might end up sleeping in a wait for the "cache buffers chains latch". If too many people try to get the latch at the same time some of them will eventually fail and go to sleep for a short period.
The point marked *** is where you get the buffer busy wait. When you attach the pin to the buffered block it's possible that what you want to do to the bllock is incompatible with what other people are already doing - so you have to attach your pin to the "waiters" list (the people currently using the block will have their pins attached to the "users" list". Eventually your wait will time out, or the users will get out of the way and you can move your pin to the users list and do whatever it was you wanted to do.

    Hi,
Macros offer a powerful and flexible way to extend the features of MS Excel. You can either create a macro using VB code or Record a macro. Use Alt+F11 for creating macro using VB code.
You can refer to Microsoft help site or this link for more details:
    http://www.taltech.com/support/sw_tricks/exmacros.htm
User-exits are empty subroutines that SAP Developers have provided for you.You can fill them with your own source code.Technically this is a modification.Customer exits are nothing but a include in customer name space will be provided in the function module which starts with CALL CUSTOMER.You can fill them with your own source code.Technically this is an enhancement.
look into following links for procedure to find and use user-exits transaction for finding user-exits is 'SMOD'
