Difference between Item created under Material Master and Equipment

Hello Expert,
I am bit confused in Item created in Master and Equipmet:
as per my understanding : Item created in Item master belong to some BOM in BOM defines the structure for the Item.
Then what is exactly served b equipments?
The equpments are serialied Items with some different structure or they are derived from BOM?
Please guide me to understand this concept.
br,
Pushkar

Dear,
Check what I found:  material master is used to describe an item, usually stockable,  that is purchased, manufactured, sold, inspected, serviced, etc.  A material master is usually created when there are multiple quantities of an item, say a product that is being manufactured.
A material master may have a serial number profile entered in order to allow distinguishing between the different copies of the same item.   For stocking,  inspecting, sales, manufacturing, etc;  the exact serial number(s) being transacted will need to be specified.
Depending  on the serial number profile specifics, each SN may get a unique equipment master, which records information specific to the material-SN combination (not just about the material in general).  For instance, if a product sold to a customer is returned for service, that material-SN (=equipment master) will have a record of the service order used.
For items which are never inventoried but for which information particularly PM transactions are recorded, an equipment master without a material master may be created, for instance a piece of processing equipment.
So an equipment master may link to a material-SN combination, or may be a stand-alone.

  • Procurement of non stock items without using material master?

    Hi Experts
My company follows third party scenerio with non stock items . The procurement process starts from creating a PR thru network by entering a material master and other purchasing information in component overview. I have come to know from some sources that in case of non stock items we may process the same  by not using the material master and just entering a material description and other purchase related information. So, my questions is:
Is it possible to follow the procurement process for non stock items without using material master? And if it is Yes, then how will i maintain the tax coditions which i generally do for material and vendor combinations.
    Thanks

    Hi Chandra,
It is mostly used in projects where you are directly procuring materials for projects and no need to track the inventory.
But i think it is better to create to material Master and use that Material with item cat L so that at any point of time we can track inventory .

  • Difference between PR created in ME51n & CJ20n

    Hello Experts,
What is the diffrence between PR created in ME51n tcode and CJ20n - Project builder tcode.?
Will both PRs wil be stored in EBAN table?
If possible can you please tel me steps to create PR in CJ20n?
Thank you in advance for your valuable help.
    WR,
    Nilesh

    Nilesh,
Not much difference between PR created in ME51n tcode and CJ20n.
You can cretae PR in ME51N by using the account assignment category P,but only the difference is if you will cretae through ME51N the PR number will not get updated in to project and if you will create PR in CJ21n You will be able to see the PR number and the follow-on document for that PR in to project itself.
Yes you are correct bothe PRs wil be stored in EBAN table only.

  • Difference between Material Master and Material ledger

Can anyone tell me the difference if any between Material Master and Material ledger and its usage and interlink with SAP modules.
    Thanks for your time
    suresh arya

    Hi Suresh,
The application component Actual Costing/Material Ledger fulfills two basic objectives: The ability to carry material prices in multiple currencies/valuations, and actual costing.
The material master records are all information your company needs to manage a material is stored in a data record in the material aster, sorted by various different criteria.
For more information regarding the functionality, you can see in path below, help SAP...

For case A, create insp plan with usage "1- production" If you have one IP with this usage for given material then system will assign Plan to lot automatically. In your case for second plan update usage as 1.
For case B, system should assign 1st plan make sure for both plan udage is correct. for 1st plan usage should be 5 while 2nd plan usage should be 1. Now if your 1st have status 4 and key date before lot date then system will assign plan auto.
    Thanks!!!

  • Difference between Item Cost and Last Evaluated Price

    Dear All,
What is the difference between Item Cost and Price in Last Evaluated Price List. Exactly when are they updated?
    Regards
    Sibasish

    Hi Sibasish,
The "Last Evaluated Price" is simply a price list but can't have a direct manipulation like other price lists. Its values may not involve in any accounting transactions if it's not selected for the concerned transaction any way.
On the other hand the item cost is the cost which is maintained by SAP B1 (until and unless you select the Standard Valuation Method), and it gets involved in the accounting transactions where inventory is involved. For e.g. the "COGS" is calculated on the basis of this value.

  • Difference between Item Proposal and Dynamic Product Proposal

    Dear All,
What is the difference between Item Proposal ( VA51) and Dynamic Product Proposal?
    Thanks and Regards
    Deepak Joshi

    Hi,
In item proposal when u enter the details in the sales document you have to click on propose items to get the list
    the customer regularly purchases.
While in dynamic product proposal once you specify the sold to party and press enter , system automaticall gives you
the list of the materials the customer regularly purchases, it a faster way of entry than item proposal.
please let me know if i am wrong.
    Thanks,

  • Entry Aids for Items Without a Material Master - usage

    Hi
Can anyone tell me what's usage of "Entry Aids for Items Without a Material Master"  (spro-mm-purchasing-mat master-entry aids..)
    and what it controls???

    Hi,
In this step, you can assign a purchasing value key and a valuation class to a material group.
The assignment of a purchasing value key provides you with default values for reminder levels etc. in purchase order items without a material master record and without an info record.
The assignment of a valuation class to a material group enables the system to determine different accounts for the individual material groups.
This is usally useful for creation of PO and account posting for materials without an MMR.
When you create a PO you mention only the material group, based on which the purchase info like the Deadline monitorying, over/under delivery tolerances, Vendor evaluation etc gets incorporated into the PO. The account posting will get captured against the Valuation class maintained to the Material Group for which the GL account mapping will be done against the V.Class in the OBYC.

  • MM01 Create New Material Master without Basic view

    Hi,
The SAP system allow us to create a new material master Purchasing View only (without Basic views). We execute T-code MM01, select Purchasing view only, enter the purchasing view data and save. Material master created with only the Purchasing view.
We want to control whereby Basic view must be created first before any plant/organisation material views (Sales, purchasing, Accouting etc) can be created. That means user cannot create Purchasing view ONLY if the Basic views is not created, can this be done??
    best regards,

    Hi,
For most of the standard SAP material types the basic data 1 view is configured as mandatory, but that can be turned off in the configuration. The first place I would look would be in SPRO under 'Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Basic Settings -> Material Types -> Define Attributes of material types'. In this transaction, highlight the material type being used and click on the magnifying glass. The section 'User departments' shows what views can be created for a material. You need to check 'Basic Data' is selected here.
If that isn't the problem, then I would suggest that you look at the screen sequence and also the field selection configuration for the material type, which you can find under 'Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Configuring the Material Master'. This configuration dictates what fields are shown on the material master and the status of each field, i.e. whether it is mandatory or not.

  • What is the difference between the T.codes MC.B and MC44 ?

    Hi Guys
What is the difference between the T.codes MC.B and MC44 ?
    and
What is the meaning of "Key figure" ?
    cheers
    MaruthiRam

    Dear,
MC.B - Mat.Anal.Selection; Turnover - Executing material tunrover basing the different selection parameters available.
MC44 - Analysis of Inventory Turnover - The key figure "inventory turnover" specifies how often average stock has been consumed. Inventory turnover is calculated as the ratio of cumulative usage to average stock level.
An inventory turnover analysis allows you to identify whether there are any "slow-moving items". It provides a basis for evaluating, for example, how effectively fixed capital has been used.
Key figure: The key figures that you can evaluate in the standard analyses for stock placement/removal and material placement/removal, provide information from the point of view of a storage area, and distinguish between internal and external warehouse movements. Both of these standard analyses are based on data that is updated to the information structure S090 when the events goods movement (external quantities), or stock removals/placements and transfer orders occur. The only difference between these analyses is the predefined standard drilldown path.

  • Error while creating a material master (mm01)

    hi,
I'm getting this error message when I'm creating a material master in a specific plant/sloc. I'm probably guessing its in config. I really need some help here.
"Tables TCURM and T001W inconsistent; notify your system administrator" .
could any one  draw some light on this.
    thanks regards,
    chinta

    HI,
Before creation of plant 1st check in t.code:OMSA and see your plant assigned to field reference.
Check in t.code: OMSY, see your company code entry & active for material management.
Also check your plant is active for your material type in t.code: OMS2 with quantity & value updating.
###Check assignment of plant to company code in t.code: OX18 and see activation of your valuation are in t.code: OX14
Just cross check all material master customisation , refer link with t.codes:
