Entry Aids for Items Without a Material Master - usage

Hi
Can anyone tell me what's usage of "Entry Aids for Items Without a Material Master"  (spro-mm-purchasing-mat master-entry aids..)
and what it controls???

Hi,
In this step, you can assign a purchasing value key and a valuation class to a material group.
The assignment of a purchasing value key provides you with default values for reminder levels etc. in purchase order items without a material master record and without an info record.
The assignment of a valuation class to a material group enables the system to determine different accounts for the individual material groups.
This is usally useful for creation of PO and account posting for materials without an MMR.
When you create a PO you mention only the material group, based on which the purchase info like the Deadline monitorying, over/under delivery tolerances, Vendor evaluation etc gets incorporated into the PO. The account posting will get captured against the Valuation class maintained to the Material Group for which the GL account mapping will be done against the V.Class in the OBYC.

  • Entry aids for items without material master

    Hi All
    Can someone remind me....
I want to default G/L accounts directly into the purchase order non-material master line items based upon the material group.
I have added specific valuation types to the entry aid config table in purchasing but now cannot remember what accounting entry I need to make to link the valuation class to an expense account
Is this in valuation and account assignment? which business key or modifier?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Steve

    Hi,
To link the valuation calss to G/L proceed as below.
In OME9 the Cost centre K should have the Modifier VBR.
In OMSK create a new Account Category Reference with description.
In same OMSK create a new Valuation class and refer the new Account category reference.
In OBYC against T key GBB against the suitable valuation modifier add General modifier VBR ,new Valuation Class and debit and credit the appropriate G/L.
Now assign the valuation class to the material group in entry aids without material master. This will make the G/L adopted in PO.

  • Procurement of non stock items without using material master?

    Hi Experts
My company follows third party scenerio with non stock items . The procurement process starts from creating a PR thru network by entering a material master and other purchasing information in component overview. I have come to know from some sources that in case of non stock items we may process the same  by not using the material master and just entering a material description and other purchase related information. So, my questions is:
Is it possible to follow the procurement process for non stock items without using material master? And if it is Yes, then how will i maintain the tax coditions which i generally do for material and vendor combinations.
    Thanks

    Hi Chandra,
It is mostly used in projects where you are directly procuring materials for projects and no need to track the inventory.
But i think it is better to create to material Master and use that Material with item cat L so that at any point of time we can track inventory .

  • Restrict material groups  at PR/PO creation for items w/o material master

    Dear SAP experts
I have one question related to restricting material groups which are possible for selection during purchase requisition or purchase order creation.
The material group is created and several material master records are linked to it. Now the requirement is that when users are creating either purchase requisitions or purchase orders it shouldn't be possible to select that specific material group>
But this should be valid only if PR or PO are being created for items without material master record. If PR/PO is created for item with material master record then the restriction should not take place.
What would be the nicest solution to achieve that?
Thank you all in advance for your help.

    Miha

    Hello Prakash
Thank you very much for your answer. i think it is a very good starting point.
However I am not too familiar with authorization group configuration of material groups.
Right now in our system (transaction OMSF) field authorization group is empty for all existing material groups.
Does this mean that for the material group that I want to have restricted I need to have two entries: one with Authorization group ZOK and another with ZNOTOK (or whatever the naming would be)?
Furthermore I would like to ask you where is then the link between authorization group and user exit?
And thirdly: do you perhaps have some more details which user exit(s) are relevant for our topic?
So far thank you very much and I hope that you can provide me also with additional info.

  • How to enter a material on SO without a Material Master Record?

    Hi guys,
Pls help me 2 flowing problem:
    1. How to enter a material on SO without a Material Master Record? And all case need to enter a material on SO without a Material Master Record.
    2. How to use customer material number if there isn't Master Data
    Thanks

    Hi Friend,
I dont think we can go with a sales order with a material without material master record.
But there are some cases where in we can create a sales order by entering a material which does not have a material master.
    1. Through material determination
You can create a material determination for a material (1234) which exists in sap by a material(XYZ) which does not; For example in VB11 you can create a material determination for a material 1234 ( exists in sap) through a material XYZ which does not exists in sap.
While creating the sales order when you enter the material XYZ is not give any error and automatically determine the material 1234 which exists.
    2. Text material
We can create a order/quote by directly entering a text in the material description and without entering the material. This the case for text material wherein text item category will be determined.
Please let me know if this help you. Else kindly elaborate the scenario.

  • Difference between Item created under Material Master and Equipment

    Hello Expert,
I am bit confused in Item created in Master and Equipmet:
as per my understanding : Item created in Item master belong to some BOM in BOM defines the structure for the Item.
Then what is exactly served b equipments?
The equpments are serialied Items with some different structure or they are derived from BOM?
Please guide me to understand this concept.
    br,
    Pushkar

    Dear,
Check what I found:  material master is used to describe an item, usually stockable,  that is purchased, manufactured, sold, inspected, serviced, etc.  A material master is usually created when there are multiple quantities of an item, say a product that is being manufactured.
A material master may have a serial number profile entered in order to allow distinguishing between the different copies of the same item.   For stocking,  inspecting, sales, manufacturing, etc;  the exact serial number(s) being transacted will need to be specified.
Depending  on the serial number profile specifics, each SN may get a unique equipment master, which records information specific to the material-SN combination (not just about the material in general).  For instance, if a product sold to a customer is returned for service, that material-SN (=equipment master) will have a record of the service order used.
For items which are never inventoried but for which information particularly PM transactions are recorded, an equipment master without a material master may be created, for instance a piece of processing equipment.
So an equipment master may link to a material-SN combination, or may be a stand-alone.

  • A/cing entry for price diff in Material master & PO when GR & IR

    Hi Experts,
Need to know the accounting entries while goods receipt as well as invoice receipt when there is a difference in the price of Material master and the PO.
    with regards
    Ramesh Y

    HI,
When goods is received then stock account gets debited, and GR/IR account gets credited, If there is a price difference then depending on price control maintained in material master i.e. if it is standard, then  difference will go to Price difference account and if it is moving average price then it will be distributed to available provided there is sufficient stock.
When invoice is posted, then vendor gets credited and GR/IR account gets debited.
    Hope it clarifies

  • Idoc segments for additional UOM in material master

    HI, I have three questions
    a) we have the follwoing data defined in material master (additonal data)
    X UOM Y UOM EAN
    1 LITRES 1 LITRES NIL
    1 IGB (inner packg) 20 LITRES 345922222222
    1 GBE (packg) 20 LITRES 345922222222
I need to know what is EAN no and in our case the EAN no is same for both inner packg and pack. . what does this mean. Sometimes we also see the EAN no is different. why... what it signifies ?
    2) We have outbound idoc trigerred from delivery. message type is WHSOD. in one of the segments (E1EDL24), the system shows the delivery qty and material no. This segment also shows the EAN NO AS 345922222222. In segment E1EDL26, the filed UMVKZ shows as 1 which is ok (numerator as shown above) but the numerator field shows 1 only (it does not show 20 litres,, i think the field name is UB something ).
I need to know why the system is not showing 20 litres in numerator in the filed for segment E1EDL26.
    3) Had we have two different EAN in material master as above, did our standard message type would have shown the conversion factors (numerator and denomi ) as per the EAN nos.....If yes, then in which segments ,the WHSORD shows the Conversion factors based on different EAN nos in material master-UOM tab (for instance if 1 GBE (packg) = 30 LITRES and EAN IS 345911111111.... I think there will be as many segments in idoc as there are entries in Additonal data-UOM tab )

    Hi,
As for as i know EANs  are not relevant to unit conversion. This is a number which uniquely identifies a material for a particular UoM.
And regarding the numerator and denominator, check whether any logic is added in the corresponding segment which overwrites the value

  • Transparent table field for Tax Indicator on Material Master

I am trying to find the transparent table which holds the Tax indicator field for material in the purchasing view of a material master. Usually it has values - 0,1. Where is this field stored ? I am unable to locate it. I looked into CDPOS..It points to DMLAN. But that is a structure..

  • Default values set  for Tax data in material master

    Hi
Can anyone tell me how to set default values for  TAx dat in sales view  while creating material master.
so that it automatically take  values while creating material master.
    Regards
    Vijay Shukla

    Mary and Vijay,
I probably understood your question wrong.
I was somehow assuming you were referring to classification data.. Sorry abt that.
The tax data gets populated automatically while creating the material master.
Th key lies in configuration..  You would have to use Tcodes OVK1, OVK4 to define the material and the tax categories by country
The tax data is populated by the assignment that you make in OVX6.. I believe.. assigning plants t Sales org. Th country code defined in the plant OX10 is used to determine the tax data and once you customize this part.. You should start seeing the tax data populate when you use that sales org while creating MM
    Hope this answers your query.

  • Characteristics shown wrongly for all classes in material master

I have material classes A,B & C with class type 001. I have maintained characteristics for class 'A' only and B and C classes doesn't have any characteristics. All these classes are assigned to a material.   Interestingly, the characteristics contained in A are shown against B and C as well in the material master.
I am not sure what's happening. Please throw a light on the issue. Thanks

    Hi Sravan
Since the class type is same,  hence system is grouping all the characteristics defined in the classes A, B, & C
