Difference between source list and info records

Dear All,
What is the difference between Source List and Info Records?
Thanks N Regards
Anandasiva

Hi,
The source list is the list which shows the sources from which you can procure the material. If you have ticked the source list requirement in the material master, then you can procure the material only from the vendors mentioned in the source list.
In Inf Record, you maintain the data for a material supplied by a vendor. e.g. Material price, tax code, other conditions,, buyer code, delivery & payment terms.
Hope your requirement is fulfilled.
Reward points if the answer is helpful.

  • Difference between material listing and item proposal?

    HI Gurus,
COuld you explain what is the difference between material listing and item proposal?
    --james

    Hi James,
Item Proposal is automatically proposed by the system while creating a sales order for a specific customer.
This setting is maintained in the Sales Area of customer master under Sales tab.
It can be stored as master records. When you create a sales order, you can refer to an item proposal, look over the proposed items, and copy all or just selected items into the order. If a customer routinely orders the same goods, you can create a proposal and enter it in the customer master record. During sales order processing, the system automatically proposes items from this proposal.
Item Proposal is created using VA51.
Material Listing lists which materials a customer can buy. With material listing or exclusion you can control which materials can be sold to each customer.
A material listing is created for a customer. The customer can only buy the materials contained in the list. The system does not allow any materials to be entered if they are not contained in the material listing.
If no records exist for material listing, the sold-to party, for example, can in principle buy the same materials as the payer. However, if there is a material listing record specific to the sold-to party, the sold-to party can only buy the materials permitted in the list. These materials do not have to be identical to those which the payer can buy.
Material listing and material exclusion are controlled using the condition technique.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Priyanka

  • Source list without info record

    Dear.
Can I create a source list (ME01 trx.) without the info record ?
    Thanks.

In what system are you? still in SAP ECC6 or in an earlier release?
How do you maintain the source list, copying or manual entry?
is your source just an external vendor, or is it a vendor with plant assignment, or do you just enter a plant number as source?
Can it be that you set the indicator for fixed source or MRP relevant? in this case you have to have an info record, as a source assignment will be done from MRP run and can be used for auto PO creation.

  • Generate Source List - Including Info Records

    Hi!
I am generating source lists.  Does anyone have an understanding of the "Including Info Records" check box on that screen.  I was told not to check it, but I can't help be curious as to what happens if I do or don't check it.
    Regards,
    Judi

    Hi,
the system will check for info records and if it finds one, the source will be added to the source list.
It is normally flagged because this is exactly what you want to do. (i.e. generate the source lists on the basis of the info records athat are there)
If you leave it unflagged then only outline agreements etc. will be added to the source list.

  • Where is the difference between Positive Liste and BP Release in SPL?

    Hi Folks,
Where is the difference between setting a Business Partner on a
Positive or Negative List and release or block a business partner in SPL?
I thought that should be almost the same. Hope you can clarify it.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Dieter

    Hi Dieter,
    The difference is the following:
If you put a partner on a negative or positive list it no longer gets screened. so, unless you screen the positive or negative list explicitly, the partner is no longer screened, and of course the one on the positive list is never blocked and the other one always free.
If you release a Partner the Partner then the following happens (depending on the customizing).
    1. If you do not have set the memory function in the customizing then the partner stays unblocked until you launch a new screening run and, if it gets hit against a list entry, it will be blocked again
    2. If you do have the Memory function ticked in the customizing then the partner gets screened and released when you do a screening run (in contrary to the positive and negative list it does get screened, but automatically released). But if there is a new or changed entry that matches with the released partner, the partner gets blocked.

    Marc

  • What is the difference between sourcing rule and Bill of distribution

    Hi All,
Can anybody explain me the difference between the Bill of distribution and sourcing rule. In what scenario a bill of distribution will be used.
thank in advance for your clarification.
    thanks.
    babu

    Hi Babu
While these 2 entities overlap each other significantly and may be used as a replacement of other at times, there are still a few basic differences outlined below:
    1. Sourcing Rules (SR) specify how an item (or group of items) are sourced for replenishment by an entity (say customer/ organization etc). Please note that its expressed in terms of receiving entity.
    2. Bill of Distribution (BOD) specify how an item is supplied by an entity (say organization). This is expressed in terms of supplying entity
    3. While BOD can only be assigned to internal organizations (could be CM or suppliers if modelled as an organization), Souricng Rule can be assigned to any type of entity including customers, suppliers, organizations and even regions & zones.
    4. Typically usage of BOD vs. SR may be dependent on you supply chain structure. If a make organization is supplying to multiple distribution centers etc, BOD may help reduce data setup volume. Instead if a distribution center is sourcing from multiple organizations, SR may be a better choice.
    5. If you're using regions & zones or customer locations to model how ATP/ ASCP selects a ship-from organization for Sales Orders, SR is only supported mechanism (unless these customers are modelled as organization)
    6. For suppliers (not modelled as Org), SR is only option.
Hope this is helpful and please note BOD & SR aren't multually exclusive and can be used in combination at different levels of your supply chain.
Please let me know if I may help any further.

  • Differences between normal list and ALV list

    Hi All,
where can i find the differences between a Normal SAP List and ALV List(Documentation part).

Imagine you have to write a report that lists out customer addresses. You will write code to get the input from the user via selection screen and then read the data based on the seletion from the database into an internal table(or a set of internal tables). Now once you have the data you will need to output this. In normal list reports, you will have to use 'WRITE' statements to format the output into columns and rows. Now suppose user wants some interactivity in it. Then  you will have to provide some buttons and/or menu options through custom pf-status and then write logic for reacting to the user actions. After writing many such reportsm, you will feel like some of this can generalized and reused in every report.
That is exactly what ALV does. It takes out most of repeated sections of the code from out of you and provides you with excellent outputting functionality. It provides many standard functions like 'print', 'sort', 'filter', 'sum' etc by default. Imagine writing code yourself for all these if you were writing normal list program. One more major difference is the editing feature. If you were write a program that gives the user with editing features, then you will have to write a lot of logic. But with ALV, all the features like adding a row, deleting a row, copying a row, editing some fields of a row etc come by default.
Likewise, interactivity has become quite easy to implement. Like double clicking on a customer number, if the user wants to go to display customer transaction, it is very easy using ALV.
As pointed out here by others, go through the documentation of ALV and go through some of those demo programs and you will know the difference. ALV takes out a lot of burden of coding everything away from you and lets you worry about the business functionality that your report provides, rather than formatting the output or providing interactivity to the output.
    Hope this helps,
    Srinivas

  • Missing Source List and Info Pane??

Since upgrading to iPhoto 5 I have just had a page of photos from left to right of the iPhoto window.
I used to have my albums listed down the lefthand side in 4.
I now see that this should still be there along with an 'information/ calendar/ keyword pane' at the bottom.
I've searched high and low and I'm sure it's something simple but where on earth is the setting to add these panes??
    Thanks...I'm at a loss.

haha, hey this is the one for the source pane so you can copy and paste the link! Actually this is my whole copy/paste post I make
Sometimes people can't get that source window open, even when they try to move the dot to the right.
First try to drag the button to show the column as show here
If that doesn't work, then you need to delete the Preference file. That info (size of the source window) is kept in the iPhoto Preference file.
    Quit iPhoto
Open your User folder, then open the Library in your user folder, then open the Preferences in the Library folder.
In the Preference folder is a file called com.apple.iPhoto.plist
For now, drag that file to the desktop. Launch iPhoto and see if the source window is there or if you can open the source window. If you can, that means that Preference file you dragged to the desktop was corrupt. Put it in the trash.
IPhoto made a new one when it was launched. Open iPhoto Preferences and set your preferences again and you are good to go.

  • Difference between source file and source structure

    Hello,
I have a source file with around 60 fields. But I need to upload only 5 fields. I defined a source structure in LSMW with 5 fields and specified the file with 60 fields as the source file. But when the data is read, only 2 out of 5 fields are read. What should I do?
    Thank you

    Hi !!
In case you are selecting only limited fields form a file with more fields in LSMW . Please apply following consideration :
    1. Add a dummy field in your source structure to make the whole structure size equal to the  total width of all fields in the source file. This is because in LSMW the file is read for the length of the SOURCE STRUCTURE width only . So if i want to read only field3 in following example i still need toa dda dummy field to ensure LSMW reads a total width of source file as the FIELD3 is at absolute end of the source file from length 40 to 60 only .
    For example :
    if my source file ahs following firve fields : FIELD1 (10) , FIELD2(30),FIELD3 (20) .
    Declare your source structure as : FIELD3 (20),FIELD_DUMMY (40) .
    2. When you deifne the source file in LSMW step 7  take care to notify whether you have field names at start of file or the field order is same as
    source structure .
This should close your issue or get in touch for more here buddy

  • Accounting the differences between the group and statutory record

    Hi guys,
In our set up, the group reporting requires the book to be closed within 10 days from the year end. However, due to various tax reasons, the stutory books can be kept open till 25th.
For example, there could be a credit note to be accounted between 10th and 25th which should appear in the statutory books as part of current year. But in  Group reporting it should consider as the transaction for next year.
    We have considered 2 options:
    a) Do an adjustment transaction using Gl accounts with differnet range and exclude these accounts from group reporting. next year, reverse these transaction and account using normal GL accounts.
    b) Account the adjustment transactions in a special period. In Group reporting, exclude these spacial transactions. However, the group reporting should include the special period from the previous year.
    c) Use special purpose ledger. Account the transactions in special period and consider changing the period in the mapping rule (yet to prove).
Can anbody think about any other options?
    many thanks
