Difference in render for navigation pane in Firefox to IE

I have a navigationPane in a page with the following characteristics.
<af:navigationPane id="np1" hint="bar"
inlineStyle="width:990px; background-color:#3d5581;">
<af:commandNavigationItem text="MACI Website" id="cni1"
showRequired="true"
destination="http://www.cishipping.com"
inlineStyle="color:White; font-family:Verdana;"/>
<af:commandNavigationItem text="Examination System"
id="cni2" useWindow="true"
destination="/faces/Home.jspx"
targetFrame="_self"
inlineStyle="color:White; font-family:Verdana;"/>
<af:commandNavigationItem text="Online Services" id="cni3"
destination="http://www.cishipping.com/portal/page?_pageid=1307,1851830&amp;_dad=portal&amp;_schema=PORTAL"
inlineStyle="color:White; font-family:Verdana;"/>
<af:commandNavigationItem text="Help" id="cni4"
inlineStyle="color:White; font-family:Verdana;"/>
</af:navigationPane>
This shows fine in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer I cannot see the text of the items in the commandNavigationItems.
Anyone seen this before? Bug?
Regards
Orlando

I found out what the issue was. My navigation items had a specification using a padding of 5% this seems to be too big for the navigationPane and was pushing the items into a overflow area for the pane. In I.E it resulted in the items not being displayed, although in Firefox it displayed okay.
I changed the padding to 0.5% and it works again.
Thanks for trying to help

  • TOC, Search, Index not appearing in navigation pane in Firefox

    I have a problem with a Help system that seems familiar with a number of other discussions on this forum, but I haven't found anything directly relatable to it.
    I have a WebHelp system generated using RH8. The Help has window-level context sensitivity. The Help system is deployed on a secure (HTTPS) server. When launching the Help from IE8, everything works as expected. However, launching the Help from Firefox (3, 8, or 9), the default topic appears and the Help is fully navicable except the contents for the navigation pane will not appear. The frame and the buttons (Contents, Index, Search) appear, but the content is missing. I can enter an Index term to search, but search doesn't return anything.
    When I access the compiled Help system locally (not from a Web server), the navigation pane works correctly within Firefox.
    My best guess after scouring a number of discussions, threads, and forums, is that it would appear that there is some issue with the Javascript affecting the context sensitivity and the left-frame functionality when deployed on a secure server using Firefox. However, I haven't come across anything that has worked as a solution.
    Any other avenues to explore?

  • Navigation pane doesn't function in Firefox

    I'm using RoboHelp HTML version 8 to publish WebHelp. In addition to shipping help with the product, we also make the latest help available on a customer web site. I've got Firefox 3.6 on my machine, and when I open our help in Firefox, the navigation pane is not functional. When I open the help system from the web site, the Contents and Index tabs are completely empty. When I open it from my hard drive or from a server here at the office, a few of our books appear in the Contents, but no topics are listed when you open them.
    I searched for similar posts to try to find an answer, but couldn't find anything that explained the problem:
    - We're not running any scripts.
    - I don't have the Firebug plug-in installed.
    - I turned off the popup blocker in Firefox.
    - We publish merged help, so I opened each project to verify that they all have the same language selected. They do.
    Any help is appreciated!
    -Melanie

    Just a quick update to include some information that I learned from my co-workers:
    The help works fine when viewed in Chrome. (Also in IE, as I said earlier.)
    If you wait long enough (5 minutes or more), the index and TOC show up in Firefox when viewed from the community website. (I hadn't realized this. I never waited that long!)
    When viewed locally, the TOC never shows more than a handful of books -- and no topics-- no matter how long you wait. They're always the same books. (The local files are more recent than those published to the community website, and apparently we've added something that Firefox reallly doesn't like.)
    I think this is a problem with Firefox rather than RoboHelp, and fortunately it's not a "must fix" for us. I was just hoping that if I put it out on the community, someone might have seen the same thing and figured out a work-around.
    BTW, we are loving RH8!!
    Thanks!

  • Word 2011 for Mac: Advanced question regarding the navigation pane--aka sidebar

    Hi everyone--
    I'm a new Mac owner, with a Macbook Pro 13" 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage. I'm operating on the latest OS (Maverick), freshly purchased from the Apple store today (July 5, 2014).
    Can you help me figure out if there is some way, in Word 2011 for Mac, to use the navigation pane (aka Sidebar) to click and drag entire sections of the document to a new location? This was basic (advanced, but fundamental) functionality in every version of Word I've used in recent years on Windows machines, and it is the critical reason I purchased Word instead of using one of a dozen free options. My job involves managing and editing large documents--from 2500 to 90,000 words--and the navigation pane/sidebar is crucial to my sanity.
    Previously, I would open the navigation pane and it would show me the structure of my document based on the Heading types. I could click on a heading (say, a chapter title), inside the navigation pane, and drag it to a new location elsewhere in the document. So simple to rearrange the structure of large documents this way. Now, in the Word 2011 for Mac, I can call up the navigation pane (now called the "sidebar") and view the structure of the doc, but I can't actually click and drag anything in the navigation pane.
    Other than this, so far my switch to Mac has gone swimmingly. I love the machine, and am amazed at how much cleaner and easier it is to set up than Windows machines. I'm so frustrated that I even have to interface with Microsoft any more, but this one piece of functionality is critical to me.
    Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
    Heather

    Dear Heather,
    I don't know the specific answer to your question.
    But as a new Mac owner, you should make sure that you are using the very latest version of Word 2011 for Mac.
    My recommendation, if you haven't already done this, is to open Word and do Help > Check for Updates from Word's menu, and install any updates Microsoft has released.
    They typically issue updates once or twice a month.
    Enjoy your Mac!

  • Create a Navigation Pane for a Page Hierarchy

    Hi,
    I am writing a Oracle ADF fusion web application using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0. I want to create
    a navigation pane. For that I hope to use a declarative component. Please give me a tip to create a tree model as follows
    URL : http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/pagehierarchy/index.jspx?_afrRedirect=3006461401899918
    and how to put it in a jsf which looks as following page's box
    URL : http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/pagehierarchy/page.jspx?_afrRedirect=3007271059448986
    Thanks

    Hi,
    within one post, you covered three topics. If you are new to ADF what about starting with a tutorial. The way you ask your questions will give you answers based on a POJO components model and not ADF. Many of the implementation details however are not required using ADF. So is it really that you only want to use the ADF Faces components ? If so then the demo sources you pint us to can be downloaded from here

  • Microsoft Word 2010 Hiding/Removing the Navigation Pane for Roaming Profiles

    Hello all,
       I am attempting to do what the title says.  We are using Citrix Profile Manager...basically roaming profiles and when updating the Office version to 2010,  users are displayed the Navigation Pane.  If the NavPane is closed,
    when they reopen their Citrix session it is back to default displaying the NavPane.  Any help on getting this removed would be greatly appreciated.
    I have so far attempted to create a macro Normal.dotm and works partially, however it is not consistent as each time it appears that the modified Normal.dotm becomes overwritten with a default one.  I have also added this modified Normal.dotm to the
    Default user profile locally on the server...to which it does not seem to pull.
    Update:
    I am currently looking to see on how to redirect the Normal.dotm away from %appdata%\microsoft\templates to a central location and have this applied to all users either user GPO or a per machine setup....but can't find anything specifically for Word 2010
    configuration.  Any help on this would also be beneficial.

    Regarding the Navigation Pane.  The setting for displaying it is indeed in the Windows Registry but it is part of a binary data key and thus mere mortals like us are not able to change it. You need a macro... see this link for an example.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/bb6268ac-546b-4118-87fa-21f6fd2cecbc/word-navigation-pane-open-by-default
    Regarding changing the location of Word's Normal template via GPO it can be done. See below link. However, as is pointed out in the link, the recommendation is not to do so. If the central location server is down, no one will be able to create documents.
    In addition, if someone accidentally or purposely alters/corrupts the Normal template... everyone is effected.

  • Javascript for adf menu navigation pane

    I have created two navigaion pane menus as explained at

    I want to show the sub menu on mouse over.
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/fnimphius/rc_expand_menu_on_mouse_over.html).
    I have added client listener, but how can I add the bind action into the javascript?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your response.
    I have two navigation panes, and when I click on item in the first one, the content of the second navigation pane is changing.
    I want it to be changed without clicking, but only by mouse over.
    How can I do it? Can you give me link? (I have searched the net and didn't find).
    Thanks a lot.

  • Multiple Data Providers for Filter/Navigation Pane in WAD

    Hi,
      Refer to post
    3.x functionalities of Navigation pane in 2004S
    I need to know how to connect multiple dataproviders to either filter pane or navigation block in WAD.  I know that they use drag and drop concept but there is still no way to filter on a single value and then add it to a drill down for all data providers at the same time or even one by one.
    Also there is no way to use drag and drop on graphs
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Yes you can add new data provider to the navigation block.  create a new data priovider below the layout pane you have the option "new data provider" create using that and assign that data provider to the navigation pane in its parameters.
    Thanks

  • Can't find delete button for quick link address in my inbox navigation pane !

    Hi,
    There is no delete button for quick link which I mistakenly added in my inbox navigation pane. In fact, the link I added for quick link was a mistake and it was a different page address, and the missing delete button is for this specific link only; other than it is alright. How can I remove or delete it from my inbox quick link ?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Cyberkhan

    There does seem to be a close/delete button present that is hidden under the 'm' from 'google.com' that is probably not clickable.
    I don't know if there should be such a long link visible in that list item or that something else is wrong.
    You can try to right-click that area and use Inspect Element to open the Inspector.

  • Can I adjust the amount of detail in thumbnails / navigation pane?

    We have started making pdfs from Word 2004 documents, via Distiller. Word>Print>Save as ps>Distiller and the amount of detail in the thumbnails (which are embedded) is very low. Sometimes I can't tell if there is content on the page or not (his is when I am looking at the Pages section of the navigation pane.
    Our previous work process had us creating a ps file via Framemaker 7. In those pdf files the pages view had a lot of fine detail, but we won't be using Framemaker anymore, since it's been dropped for the Mac.
    I'm not talking about the thumnail size... I've looked at them larger and it still has no detail, only with a larger view.
    I've looked at all the Distiller, Acrobat, and Word settings and preferences to see if there's a setting or dialog that will help, but I can't find any.
    Any ideas?

    Have you tried exporting using the Save as PDF button on the lower left of the Print dialog box? I don't know if that will help, but it might.
    I have not tried that, but I will. I always thought that going through Distiller gave you better quality. That's how I was converting the .ps files before that were created out of Framemaker.
    Your page thumbnails are strange, though. Are you using Distiller to convert fonts to outlines or something? Text is suppose to stay as text to help thumbnail previews
    I'm not converting fonts to outlines. It's very strange... there must be a setting in Distiller somewhere that I have mis-marked... I'll be darned if I can find it though.
    I've included a shot of pages from a previous project, there is a distinct difference.

  • Using custom fonts in the Navigation pane

    Hi
    I'm using custom fonts in my webhelp. To do this, I created a folder for the web versions of the custom fonts and put it in the same folder as my css. I then added the font face elements to the top of my css (in Notepad). Next I used the custom font name for all the style defined in the css (in Notepad). That makes the content of the topics use the custom font. All good.
    Next, I edited the htt file (in Notepad) to use the name of the custom font. Now the breadcrumbs and topic footer use the custom font. All good.
    Finally, I want to use the custom font in the navigation pane (the text next to the books and page icons). I edited the skn file (in Notepad) to use the custom font. I also added a dependency for my css to the bottom of the skn file. Then I generated the webhelp.
    When I launch the help, the browser (IE) doesn’t allow running scripts or ActiveX controls (this is normal). At this point, the TOC in the Navigation pane looks like it uses the correct font. Once I click to allow IE to run scripts, etc. the font in the TOC changes to something that looks like Times or some default serif font.  So, it appears that something in the javascript is changing the font.
    For good measure, I checked the whtdhtml file and the custom font name is used there.
    Any ideas on what's happening and how to get my custom font to appear in the Navigation pane?
    BTW, I use images only in the toolbar pane (that spans the top of the webhelp window), so I don't need to specify the custom font there.
    Deborah

    Hi William
    I found one error. In the skin file, I had added a dependency to my css. It was missing a slash (/) to point to the correct folder level. Now that I've added that, the TOC displays the same font as the Index, Search results, and the topic (content, breadcrumbs, and footer). So, that's good, but on closer inspection, it looks like Verdana, not my custom font.
    I changed the font in whthost.js to the name of my custom font and generated the help, but it made no difference. I also changed the font and just opened the help without generating and got the same results.
    For your second suggestion, you mean whtdhtml.htm not whtdhtml.js? The custom font is in the lines:
    setFont("Normal", "MyFont","10pt","Black","Normal","Normal","none");
    setFont("Hover", "MyFont","10pt","#004080","Normal","Normal","underline");
    I added the <font> tag to this file, but the tag just shows up as plain text within the webhelp TOC (no matter where I insert it in the file).
    I also tried changing the font to my custom font for the Index body and Search results using the steps in Rick's Skinny on Skins (editing the whibody.htm and whfbody.htm files). When I do this, the serif font appears in the Index body and Search results.
    It seems like the files cannot "see" my custom fonts (which are in a folder at the same level as my css).

  • Missing Navigation pane / Error message

    Hey everyone,
    A colleague of mine was trying to build WebHelp using RH X5
    and when he built the output, the navigation page on the left
    appeared completely blank with a little error symbol in the lower
    left of the screen.
    The error stated:
    Line: 222
    Char: 3
    Error: Automation server can't create object
    File: path\!SSL\WebHelp\whskin_pdhtml.htm
    When I looked at whskin_pdhtml.htm on a build on my own
    system in Dreamweaver, I saw that the page title is "Navigation
    Pane"
    Any idea why RoboHelp couldn't create this file? He had this
    problem last week. We though IE was the problem, but a reinstall
    didn't help. Both he and I are publishing the output (File System
    method) to a specific folder on the root of our C:\ drives, since
    we can't get access to Development servers (security policy)
    By the way, I can view his output perfectly on my system.
    I found an old post on this topic from 2006 that had this in
    the response:
    "IE, general Internet, popup blockers, guest toolbars (Yahoo!
    for example), MS Office, network server permissions (database admin
    or sys admin). Do you have any utilities running in the background
    that the others don't have?"
    I haven't gone through and compared everything between his
    machine and mine, but what specifically should I look for in terms
    of major differences? I have local box admin rights for my machine,
    but I don't think he does for his. That shouldn't be a problem,
    should it?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    I have local box admin rights for my machine,
    but I don't think he does for his. That shouldn't be a
    problem, should it?
    Yes, it should.
    The RoboHelp product must be installed under the user's name,
    with full admin rights; in addition, those rights must be
    maintained at least for the first time the user opens, edits, and
    generates a project. Those rights can then, and only then, be
    disabled.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • Navigation Pane and Topic Pane

    I am new to RoboHelp. I just did a tutorial and feel like I
    understood it. I completed my own project, and it worked fine.
    However, the project I need to work on was begun by someone else at
    the company I work for, and when I access her project via RoboHelp
    XML, it is missing the Project Manager, TOC, Index, etc. in the
    Navigation Pane on the left side, and the Topics Pane on the right
    side only has Wysiwyg and True Code (missing Links and Topics).
    When I go up to Tools and choose Pane, I get three options (Tools,
    TrueCode, and Wysiwyg), and the options I desire aren't there.
    Since the tutorial taught me how to use RoboHelp using those
    missing items, I am lost without them. I am hopeful that someone
    can talk me through getting those back to my screen. Thanks.

    Peter:
    Left-hand view was checkmarked. When I uncheckmarked it, the
    Wysiwyg Editor expanded across the screen, filling it left to
    right, and I entirely lost the pane on the left-hand side which had
    the Tools Tab. So, I put the checkmark back in.
    I do not have the same hard drive as she had. I had to ask
    the IT guys here to install RoboHelp. I would not have the same
    user logon as she had. Would that make a difference? The tutorial I
    did did not address version control (it's more advanced than I am).
    If she had used this feature, would that explain those missing
    items? What about some kind of password protection?
    I tried moving the project to My Computer, but that didn't
    help. The woman I am replacing had stored this project in Visual
    Source Safe as well as on her Shared drive here at the company. I
    can access them "regularly" (meaning not via RoboHelp) in either
    place. I can access the ones on her Shared drive via RoboHelp, but
    that's when I get the version without Project Manager, TOC, Index,
    Topics List, Links, etc. When I try accessing the version that's in
    Visual Source Safe, I can't get in.
    I really appreciating that you are helping me!!!

  • Navigation pane not showing in merged output on server (IE9)

    RH10 | WebHelp
    We've moved our WebHelp outputs from an externally maintained server to an in-house server, but the left-hand navigation pane isn't displaying in our merged Help system. In our user guide (which isn't merged) the pane displays fine, but in our release notes (which is a merged system) it doesn't want to show itself. The main navigation pane and topic pane are fine, it's just the left-hand navigation pane that's blank.
    I'm running IE9, but the weird thing is that it displays correctly in Firefox. It also works when run locally.
    Both Help systems worked absolutely fine on the previous server, so I'm wondering if there's a conflict with something else that's running on the new server (e.g. our website's CMS, etc.) or whether it's a permissions thing?
    My issue seems similar to other posts on here, but I'm using IE9 not IE11.
    I'd be grateful for any ideas.
    Thanks
