Difference in sharing between 2003, 2008 and 20012

Hi,
We have a Dell 3115cn printer. This printer is able to scan a doc to a share, SMB Port 139. When I create a share on a Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 server, there is no problem scanning to this share. But on a 2012 server the printer is not able to write
the (pdf) file to the share (same user and share folder rights).
Things I tried:
- Turn off Firewall
- Enable Netbios
Is sharing in Windows server 2012 different from previous versions?
Any suggestion is appreciated

"It does on 2003 and 2008, so whats the diff"
Each device needs a device driver. If Dell does not have a 2012 device driver for your scanner, that means that you are using a 2008 device drivers. Device drivers are very often changed from one operating system release to the next due to changes
that were made either in the operating system itself or within the device driver model. Any time a device changes its behavior from one operating system release to the next, the very first thing I suspect is the device driver.
"It's not a print problem, writing to a share doesn't need a driver"
Any hardware device connected to the system needs a device driver. You state that the scanner is writing to a share. That absolutely requires a device driver. Again, because it is a newer operating system, I would check with Dell to
see if they have a 2012 device driver for your scanner. If they don't, ask them if they have done any testing with the device on 2012, or if they are aware of any issues on 2012.

I don't know if this is me adding files to iTunes when the external wasn't connected

is it OK to just keep deleting that library on the Air?
i wouldn't - at least not until i

The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive.

my host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?

There are several possible causes for this problem.
1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
6. See also this support article.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.

Can an Apple ID be shared between 2 devices and each be private?

Of course. To do it, open iTunes holding the Option (Alt) key, so you will see an option to create a iTunes library. Note that, after doing that, you will have two iTunes libraries in the same account, so you can choose the one you want to start iTunes opening it while holding the Option key

Hi LarryMeikle
The biggest difference between Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC is that Photoshop CC is subscription-based--you have to subscribe to Adobe's Creative Cloud service to use it. Also, Photoshop CC includes new features that were not in Photoshop CS6.
Let us know if that helps.
Thanks!

• File Sharing between Windows PC and MacBook Pro using Internet Sharing

I have a MacBook Pro and a Dell Latitude D820 running Windows XP SP2 and I want to connect both using any of these two options. I do not have a wireless router and I use Sprint 3G data card to access internet.
1) I access the internet using a EVDO data card on my MAC and use Internet sharing to access the internet on my Dell laptop. How do I access the files on my PC from my MAC?
2) I can have two EVDO data cards to access the MAC and PC independently. How can I setup file sharing between Windows laptop and MAC?

• SAP SD--Difference of upgrade between SAP4.7 and ECC6.0

Hi friends,
Somebody can pls tell --Difference of upgrade between SAP4.7 and ECC6.0 in terms of sap SD module or any links for this.
Rahul

Hi Rahul,
Your question is a little general...Maybe you could go to sap help portal to search for the documentation for upgrading to 600.
As I know, we have some new functionality in release 600. For example, shipping point determination with storage location, automaticly outbound delivery creation after saving stock transfer order...
Also the screen is different for most list transactions like VA05.

• Subreport preview issue differences between VS 2008 and VS 2012

I have a report that contains a subreport which source is a report already deployed on the report server. In VS 2008, when you do a preview the data in the main report displays fine and you get an error on the subreport. In VS 2012, when you
try and do a preview, the entire report displays a processing error. Why do the VS versions behave differently when it comes to displaying any of the data? Is there something I can do in VS 2012 to have my main data display?

Hi DBAlicious,
I already taken a sample test in my visual studio 2008 and visual studio 2012 environment, the result is that the main report displays fine and an error displays on the subreport when we preview the main report. The only difference is that subreport always
displays “Error: Subreport could not be shown” in VS 2008, while the subreport displays error message based on the specific exact error in VS 2012. But we can see the detail error message from Error List Window in those two versions.
In your scenario, I think the reason is that there are some errors in the main report, so the entire report displays a processing error. We can directly preview the main report without the subreport to test the main report. Or use the same project in those
two versions to test the issue again.
If there are any other questions, please feel free to let me know.

• Home Sharing between Windows Vista and Windows 8

I am trying to carry out Home Sharing between my old Windows Vista laptop and my new Windows 8 laptop. I have followed all the instructions and both have HS switched on. I can see my W8 library from my WV laptop but I cannot see my WV library from my W8 laptop.
An additional question is I do not have a Podcast button on my Windows 8 iTunes whereas it is on the Windows Vista iTunes.
Can anyone assist me in finding a resolution????

I have been having this exact issue the past 2 days, and I've tried everything within my knowledge, but to no avail. Both Home Sharing computers are on the same network, logged into Home Sharing with the same Apple account, and both computers are authorized for that account. I'm afraid this may just be an issue with the recent iTunes update. Before this recent version, the 2 computers I'm trying to share between did so just fine. Now, the connection is only working one way. I think this will just have to be resolved on Apple's part upon a new iTunes update. Hopefully. Another reason may be the difference in computer operating software (Windows Vista vs. Windows 8) and the inability to communicate between the two (This can happen since the older OS may not be capable of communicating with the newer OS, while the newer OS MAY be capable of communicating with older OS versions). Therefore, a new update would be required from Apple to fix this error. As for your issue in not seeing the Podcast button, try this:
If you have version 11.0.1:
1) Click the very upper left icon in the window.
2) Click "Preferences..." (Or hit keys [CTRL] + [,])
3) Click the tab labeled "General" on the window that pops up.
4) There should be a list of check boxes, each labeled a different component of iTunes. (Music, Movies, etc.)
5) Make sure the checkbox labeled "Podcasts" is checked.
6) Click the "OK" button in the bottom right of the window to save changes and close the window.
If you have an earlier version, follow the EXACT same process as above, except step 1 will be different:
1) Click "File in the upper left corner.
Hope this helps!

• Differences in SQL between Report Designer and RDC

Post Author: GarethThom
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
Using Crystal Reports v10 SP6, we have created a report that can show a retrospective aged analysis of supplier invoices based on a Comparison Date parameter. The data is in a Microsoft Access database. In the Record Selection Criteria we have the following criteria:
{Transactions.TranType} in ["SA", "SO","ST", "SN", "SR"]And {Transactions.InvoiceDate} <= {?ComparisonDate}And ({Transactions.PaymentDate} = CDate(0,0,0) Or {Transactions.PaymentDate} > {?ComparisonDate})
The idea being that we want all Invoices (of a certain type) dated up to and including the Comparison Date parameter and where either the Invoice has not yet been paid or was paid after the Comparison Date, i.e. the outstanding/unpaid Invoices at that point in time.
When run within the Report Designer everything works perfectly. When we view the SQL Query used to bring the data back it says:
WHERE (`Transactions`.`TranType`='SA' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SN' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SO' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SR' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='ST') AND `Transactions`.`InvoiceDate`<#2008-05-07 00:00:00#
The PaymentDate part of the criteria is obviously evaluated within Crystal once the data has been retrieved from the database.
However, when run through the RDC using VB6 SP6 the following SQL Query is used:
WHERE (`Transactions`.`TranType`='SA' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SN' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SO' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='SR' OR `Transactions`.`TranType`='ST') AND `Transactions`.`InvoiceDate`<#2008-05-07 00:00:00# AND ((`Transactions`.`PaymentDate`>=#1899-12-30 00:00:00# AND `Transactions`.`PaymentDate`<#1899-12-30 00:00:00#) OR `Transactions`.`PaymentDate`>=#2008-05-07 00:00:00#)
Which returns no records.
The reason we are using CDate(0,0,0) to check for an empty date is that if you have "Convert Database Null Values to Default" ticked it does not seem to handle using IsNull({Transactions.PaymentDate}) in the Record Selection Criteria - no records are returned (in the Report Designer) even though if you copy the SQL Query and run in directly in the database it returns records. As soon as you untick the flag the correct records are returned.
So, is there a fix for this problem or does anyone have any alternate ideas as to how this "null/empty date" scenario could be handled?
Thanks,

Hi Priyanka,
New features in SSIS 2012:
Project Deployment Model - Way of deploying packages through wizard
Project Parameters - Create parameters which can be used at package level and project levels
SSISDB Catelog - In SSMS, you can create it and maintain parameters and ENV details.
DQS - New transformation
Small features which I noticed:
- You can undo changes by pressing Ctrl + Z
- Variable expressions can be set inside Variable window itself (No need to go to properties window)
- You can arrange the sequence of tasks in SSIS Toolbox
