Digital I/O Problems

I have a FlexMotion 7334 board with NI-Motion 6.0.1 and I am experiencing some digital i/o problems. After running my system in a loop for several hours, I unexplicably start having problems where my digital i/o starts functioning incorrectly (it does not detect something that is there). I was curious to know if there are any known issues with the digital i/o like will it freeze if the board is accessed too frequently or any issues like that. Please help. Thanx.

Firoz, the DIO lines on the 7334 are static, not latching, so as you probably know a line must be constantly polled when you are trying to detect the change in the state of a TTL signal. This polling is software-timed and therefore influenced by software latency, increases in the PCI bus traffic, etc. Therefore if the duration of a pulse is too short, or if the DIO lines are not polled fast enough, you might miss a signal. Is it possible that this is part of the problem you are seeing?

    I've updated all the software drivers so I've got the newest and I'm currently runnign Win2k SP3 with almost every patch installed on it.
    And finally the problem:
    When I've hook my WD2000JB to the on-board raid everything seems to be working normaly. The bios finds the drive and makes a new array. Win2k boots up and finds the drive and I can create an partition. But when I've try to format it it the computer starts to freeze for a while and then acts like normal again. The HDD-led blinks as it should during the "normal" time, but when the comp. freezes it stops blinking. The formatation stops at 7% and the HDD-led stops lighting. I don't get an error eventhough it was several hours since it stoped. And the formatation takes like 30min for 1%.
    When I connect the WD2000JB to the IDE3 I can format it and it acts just like normal. I even did a full system test with the System tool found on Western Digitals support site and it didn't find any errors. But when move it to the raid-IDE the errors return. I've get Error reading / writing to disk and when I've did a chkdsk I've got the "Coudn't use Device) so I did a scandisk and it found very very many errors so it completly ereased everything that was on it.
    And when I've run Western Digitals program again i've get an error (Disk error read/writing) error code: 0113.
    Can it be that the Western Disk doesn't work well with Raid? I've haven't heard anything about that, so...

    I've had similar problems where my system becomes very unstable at higher bus speeds. Installing Windows XP simply didn't work very good. However, I have ordered a new PSU today as a solution to this problem. Basically, CPUs and video cards are much more demanding and the more devices you have in your computer the more power you're going to need. I recommend purchasing the Enermax EG465P-VE (FCA) 450W ATX PS. It has a higher amperage rating and will most likely solve your problem.
    Check your PSU and your bus speed settings...

    Using iTunes 11 on my Mac and having problems too. I'm not getting an error message however.
    When I enter the code, I am prompted for my Apple ID/password, which I enter, but nothing happens after that. I've also had iTunes ask me for my password repetedly even after entering it, with no sucsess in downloading the file.
    Thoughts?

    I've got a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 250GB laptop hdd. I want to use it as a file storage drive, because i have an ssd in my system, for the OS.
    My problem is, that i can't really set the spindown time to my drive. When i use hdparm -B 127 or less, my hdd spin down after 8 sec (the head parking time is also 8 sec for this drive btw), no matter what the value of the -S in hdparm. When I set the -B value more than 127, my hdd never spin down.

    So, I have a laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) with separate SSD and HDD.
    SSD (OS) --->in the original hdd slot
    HDD ---> in the ODD slot with caddy
    Yes, the OS chooses randomly who become the sda and sdb, that's why i use uuid-s.
    I know what is the rc.local, but i don't want to apply my changes every reboot yet, i'm just TESTING. Also, it's not important to keep my changes between sleep states yet because the same reason. I don't know why is this important right now.
    Let's be my HDD the sda. I execute theese two commans by order:
    sudo hdparm -B 127 /dev/sda
    It's allow the spindown for the hdd, because the value less than 128. It seems it's working fine.
    sudo hdparm -S 36 /dev/sda
      It's set the spindown time to 36*5=180 sec, but in my case, no matter what the value is, the real spindown time is always 8 sec (if allowed by the hdparm -B). So this is my REAL problem.
    R00KIE: Why the id better than uuid? I tought they're just symlinks.
    Yesterday I tried with Fedora LiveUSB but the effect was just the same.

  • Clamshell digital picture project/problem the computer sleepy !!

    Hello friends it is my first post to the board. Not sure if it the right place. I am in a mess with my old clamshell ibook ( firewire, DVD-Rom, 366mhz , macOs 9.2) which I took apart to make a digital picture display. The disassembly was easy as per help from Fixit guide. Now I have put together the unit to get it into the box for display, but when I turn on the computer the unit turns on and I see that desktop with hard drive and the curser which is accessible but the computer goes to sleep within 15-20 seconds. touching any key brings it back but only to go back to sleep mode again. Playing with the curser does not keep it awake!
    The computer worked perfectly before I disassembled it. It seems that the sleep button is somehow gone into a loop. Or something to do with hinges/cables that I took apart during disassembly. i did try to be careful in keeping the parts together and took pictures to guide me. I would appreciate any thoughts or help that anyone can provide.

    This just an addition to my last evening's post. I was able to start the computer with the original CD. The finder and the desktop works for a little longer approx.40-45 secs and the sleep mode takes over again. Subsequent wake up periods from sleep which occurs easily does not last any longer that few secs. Any ideas as to whether it is software or hardware based problem.

    We are facing problems while configuring SSL for Digital signature. We are following the stpes given in ADS Configuration document. Documents present in help.sap.com do not give a clear picture of the various steps involved in authentication using digital signature. We require help with all the steps involved. To provide brief background, we have ABAP and JAVA engines on seperate servers and we were able to configure ADS successfully using basic authentication method as described in ADS config document. Now for Digital signature. we need to configure SSL, while doing so we are facing problems. We went through a lot of blogs and sdn links and numerous documents in SDN but still the problem remains. Please help us.

    When we execute the standard transaction for form 16 , three pdf forms are copied to the given location, they are
    Annex , form12BA and  form16
    Only file Annex contains data, the other two files are of 0 bytes. And also the file containing the data doesn't contain digital signature.
    We have gone through all the configuration check given in the ADS configuration document and all are given the correct output.
    Also we have installed  the credential file.
    Please guide us.

    Hi, i'm designing a digital clock circuit.
    However, i faced problems during reset part.
    when i tried to reset on 3(U11) with 1 NAND gate and 2 NOR gates,
    i think i don't make mistake to reset with 0011(U3),how come the 3 will also appear on the seven-segment display?
    Well,i also wonder how can i reset  the other seven-segment display(U9) to show the following sequences:
    0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,1,2,3,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,1,2,3,0.. 
    Lastly, is that possible to configure the transmition speed in multisim 11.0?

    Hi,
    There were a few problems with the circuit which is why the clock was not reseting at 3. I have modified the file. Please take a look and see. You will need to add a buffer between the second input and the AND gate because otherwise, the gate will trigger before the output has actually reached the desired state.
    I had to edit the delay time in the buffer to make it work of this circuit. To edit the delay time, double-click the Buffer and under the Value tab, click on Edit Model. You can change the rise time and fall time from this window.

  • Digital Camera Connection Problems With Leopard

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm having a big problem with connecting various digital cameras to my macs. I have 3 different machines (a G5 iMac, 2 MacBook Pros) all running 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 and none of them will recognize my canon Powershot SD800 or my SD1000. I haven't had a chance to test it out with my Digital Rebel yet but I'm suspecting I may run into the same issue.
    I've read through all the tech notes in the iLife section and various articles on the web and from what I can tell Apple has a problem with usb device connections in Leopard. I've tried all of the fixes (deleting caches folder, resetting PRAM, updating all applications, etc) and nothing works. The cameras were working fine under 10.4.11. I was really hoping Apple would have fixed this in 10.5.2 but it is still not working. Does anyone have any ideas if Apple is working on this? For photographers like myself this is a major deal. I can get around the issue right now using an external memory card reader, but that's extremely inconvenient at times and I'm just not impressed that something like this has gone months without a fix from Apple.

    And I'm not having any problems with Leopard mounting my Canon PowerShot Pro or Rebel though I typically don't connect them, choosing to use a card reader instead. (Saves camera battery.) This is true on the 4 computers I use at home and work as well as my wife's MacBook. Two came with Leopard pre-installed the other 3 I installed Leopard using Archive & install.
    We can talk about how you upgraded to Leopard or what you have installed that might be getting in the way, or you can buy an inexpensive card reader and be done with the hassle.

  • DVD digital file copy problems

    First question- When downloading a DVD "digital file" through Itunes, is the movie actually downloaded from the disc in the drive, or from the Itunes libray?
    Second question- How long should it take to download?
    Third question- Where the heck is my movie?
    Fourth question- How can I contact Itunes directly?
    Here is the rundown:
    I signed uo for Itunes today to upload my "Disney file" digital copy to my mp3 player. Well, that has created some problems. All was going smoothly, or so I thought. Itunes took the activation code (as a form of payment basically) and I got confirmation that the movie was being downloaded to my Itunes account. It was taking a long, long time to download and I was not sure if the movie was being downloaded from the disc that Disney provided, or if it was being downloaded from the Itunes libray, so I ended up taking the disc out of the drive to see what would happen. (I hope I didn't mess things up for myself!)
    I waited a bit longer and reinserted the disc and tried the activation code again, and as I suspected the code was denied, so it wouldn't attempt to download again.
    It has been a few hours and my movie is nowhere to be found on my Itunes account. Being new to the whole Itunes thing I wonder if I did something wrong, or if I am not looking in the right place.
    I really hope I didn't make a big mistake!!

    I did this with the Family Guy "Blue Harvest" digital copy, and it (entering the code and 'purchasing') only authorizes playback of the content from the disc in the drive. Other than cookies, there is no download from the iTunes store. The software treats the copying from the disc as a download though, and it shows copy progress as download progress. That threw me off the first time I did it.

  • Sat P10 Digital Audio/Buttons Problem.

    My new Toshiba (Sat P10-873) laptop has buttons on the front of it for playing digital audio and CD's. I use the mode button to switch between audio CD and the music CD, the problem being then when I switch to digital audio, it opens up media player and plays the default "David Byrne" track, rather than my playlist. According to the manual it should play the last opoened playlist but this for some reason does not work. Every time i close media player and then press the play button, it loads media player and begins playing David Byrne. Any suggestions on how I could fix this? Do i have to put my playlist in a certain location? or the audio itself? Do I need to set an option some where? Thanks.

    Well, I had only had the PC about half an hour at the time i was trying to do this so obviously no updates and no changes made at this time to the system.
    I have however solved the problem myself so just incase anybody else needs to know:
    The answer really was rather simple, for some reason, media player was saving my playlists under the "My Documents" folder of "Owner" rather than in my "My Documents" folder. I copied the playlist file from there and into my "My Music" folder and voila, everytime I switch to digital mode, it loads my playlist. Hope that made sense. Thanks for the help.

  • Digital Out - Repeating Problem

    Hello,
    Two weeks ago I sent my Macbook in for repair because the digital out port got stuck in this mode rendering the internal speakers useless. The logic board was replaced under warranty. I got my Macbook back and I've just come to use the speakers again and the same problem has happened, after using a normal sized headphone jack in the port.
    Is this going to continually happen because it seems a bit stupid that I can't use a headphone socket on my macbook without it breaking every time!

    Oops, you say it is working in Windows?   Are you running any system modification programs that edit system cache or preferences?
    The worst of these is MacKeeper, which can only be removed this way:
    Do not install MacKeeper
    In general, the only maintenance Mac OS X needs is a backup software.  Everything else is just fluff and can cause more system issues than they resolve.

  • ITunes won't start -- Digital signature the problem?

    I haven't been able to get iTunes to start for the past month. It all started when I installed iTunes 7. I never had any problems with iTunes before that. I've tried nine or ten different suggestions and nothing seems to be working. Is there any way that I can delete iTunes 7 and somehow get back to using iTunes 6? This may be my last hope. I'm seriously considering buying a new computer just so I can use iTunes again.
    Also, for the past few weeks, whenever I try to install software updates I get some message about the digital signature being incorrect. I am able to get the updates installed manually, but I was wondering if this digital signature issue could have something to do with iTunes not working anymore?
    I've been using my Mac for the past three years and haven't really had any problems until now, so this is very frustrating. Thank you for any help or advice you can give me.

  • HP Premium Digital Headset Sound Problems

    Hi, I recently bought an HP premium digital headset mostly for gaming purposes, but when I tried to play my usual first person shooters, the sound comes backwards. So for example, i hear footsteps coming from the left, but they're actually coming from the right in game. The only way to fix this problem is to have the microphone put on the other side, behind my head, but it's really frustrating not being able to talk to people. Is there any fix to this?

    I had the same problem for a week, and as i regularly play games through Steam it was becoming a real annoyance! So in the end....And this is about to get very technical so pay attention!.... i pulled it to pieces! no need for software here my friend, take a small screwdriver to behind the speaker with the mic (it just pops out if you pull but don't snap the wire!), once you have that unscrewed the 4 little screws, there is a plastic 'bar' with a slightly larger screw in the middle, get that out and it will release the mic, now once that is out you will see two plastic tubes connected to eachother, one is where you just unscrewed it from and the other one is connected to that but smaller, this is the swine that flips the switch when you turn the mic from back to front and swaps the sound over, get some wire cutters and snap it off! Voilà! put it all back together and your sorted!
    I know this sounds daunting and will probably void the warranty but it only took me 10 mins to do and now I'm sorted!
