Directory navigation

I have a JSF web app. I'm using a MySql database. In the database I have images stored as BLOBs. I have botht he full .jpg image and a smaller thumbnail stored as BLOBS to be more accurate
When a user navigates to a page, I want to, from the backing bean, retrieve the thumbnails and present them on the next page for possible download to a user.
I'm assuming I will have to download the thumbnails so the page will know where to pick them up for display.
At the same level as my WEB-INF directory I have an images directory. This is where I'd like to store the images.
It's easy in the .JSP to say images/????????.JPG, but when I check the current directory for the application in the backing bean, it appears I'm logged to the tomcat/bin directory. When deployed locally, the following directories are under /Tomcat 5.0/webapps/HurstHome
css
EtapeDuTour1_files
EtapeDuTour2_files
etapeDuTour3_files
images
META-INF
scripts
WEB-INF
classes
 hursthome
 utils
 Validator
lib
When deployed live on my servlet host the directories above are under public_html and at the public_html level is a tomcat directory. I assume when I'm running on my servlet host, my backing bean is also in the tomcat/bin directory.
My question is, how to I download my BLOB thumbnails to the images directory in a uniform way? Can it be done by URL from the backing bean somehow?

  • Directory navigation in java

    hi,
can u help me how to list all the java files in a system into an open dialog box.for example when a browse button is clicked, the open dialog box should contain all java files in that system.

  • 41 seconds to open a directory...

We are about to run a Pilot Project and are experiencing very long response times.
We have loaded 111,175 Files under 12,372 Directories for a total of 6.55 GB.
    The directory structure is:
    /HOME/MDDM
/A, /B, ...etc for the 25 letters of the alphabet
    /A/Andrew
    /A/Armstrong ... etc 1 folder per person
and under each person there are 4 subfolders.
Opening /MDDM takes 14 secs (only 1 user connected, using FTP)
Opening /MDDM/A takes 41 seconds! (it contains 106 "names" subfolders).
We are running Oracle 9i DBMS and 9iFS off a single 1.6GHz Pentium CPU under Windows 2000 (Oracle text is turned off for now but will be activated later).
It also appears that it is directory navigation/creation that takes such a long time (it takes 20+ seconds to create a new directory).
    - Is there a way to optimize directory handling?
    - If we are stretching the server, what type of configuration should we look at ? We want to start with 15 users (and will hugely scale to tens of thousands of users if successfull).
    Thanks,
    Benoit Chenette

    Hi Benoit.
To determine what the issues are will require isolating the problem to the database or to iFS, and then examining each in further detail.
The best way to proceed is to contact your Oracle Support representative, and ask for their assistance.
Oracle Support can engage our internal performance experts if they need further assistance.
    Hope that helps.

  • Explorer.exe uses too much CPU cycles (roughly 50%)... How can I fix this?

    Hi everyone,
In the last two days I have noticed a serious loss in system performance.  The first thing I do when I come accross a performance issue is to make sure that I don't have any scheduled automatic scans running in the background, such as my antivirus.  If they aren't, I then open the task manager and check to see what process(es) is(are) causing the performance issue based on CPU usage.  I discovered that explorer.exe is now regularly using approximately 50% of my CPU power AT ALL TIMES (with fluctuations ranging from as low as 35% to as high as 99%, but 45%-55% is the most common range).
Now I thought this might have been some sort of fluke, so I rebooted several times, and in all cases I find explorer.exe continues to use this hefty amount of CPU power.  This persists even if I leave the system alone (running, but not being used) for 15 minutes or more.
This is causing major performance issues with trying to run any/all other applications on the system, and even worse performance issues if I try to use explorer for something such as directory navigation, file searching, or file access.
I recently made an update to Windows (about a day before this problem arose), so I thought that might be the cause of this, so I ran a system restore to the restore point made before the install.  That didn't fix the problem.  Since the problem has only started in the last two days, I restored to a point three days ago.  That didn't fix it either.  I have since tried to restore to points 5 and 7 days old, and neither of those worked to fix this problem either.
I can use the task manager to end-task explorer.exe, and then restart it using "new task" from the file menu, and this seems to correct the problem.  After doing such a "restart" of explorer.exe, the process no longer uses 50% of my CPU power, and instead uses only 0%-20% depending on what I'm doing.  This, however, is not a viable long-term solution for a couple of reasons:  1) it screws up my tray icons, causing many to disappear even though their parent programs/processes are still running, and causing others to appear even though they shouldn't be there; and 2) subsequent instances of explorer.exe such as for directory navigation still have some performance problems and are prone to crashes.
I need to know how to repair or replace explorer.exe without having to format my hard drive and re-install (either from scratch or using a system recovery disc).  I can try using some sort of shell replacement such as Aston, Emerge, or GeoShell, but I shouldn't have to do that.
It may be that one of my other startup applications is causing some sort of compatibility issue, but that seems unlikely since I haven't made any changes to the system, nor installed any new software other than standard windows updates.
I need help, advice, suggestions, etc., or really anything at all that I can try that might fix this problem.  In the meantime, I am going to boot into safe mode to see if explorer.exe has problems even then (which would solidly indicate a corruption of explorer.exe rather than a compatibility issue or anything else).
Please help if you can.  For reference, I am using an HP Pavilion dv9700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC, running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Service Pack 1.  I have an Intel Core2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz CPU and 3GB of RAM.  My explorer.exe file gives the following information from the Details tab of its Properties window:  file version is 6.0.6001.18000; product version is 6.0.6000.16386; file size is 2.79MB; and modification date is 1/20/2008 at 6:24pm.  As far as I know, that is all correct information and does not indicate that the program file has been replaced by any sort of malicious software.  I also ran a complete scan with AVG Antivirus and found no viruses or other malicious software anywhere on the system (unless you count tracking cookies).
Thank you in advance for any help

     Edward Lin wrote:
I have exactly the same problem!!!  And I concluded that the “AUTO CONNECT” function is the main reason of causing the CPU usage.  If I uncheck the “AUTO CONNECT” from the saved wi-fi connection, then the CPU would remain claim.
But.. Still, it’s very annoying.  So I formatted the hard drive and restore to the original factory condition.  Initially, it was working ok.  But after WINDOW UPDATES, the same problem happens again!!!!!!  May this be the bug from Microsoft??
Any thought??  Any Fix?  Please help!!!!
Yes, I did notice that the problem started after I did a Windows Update.  I can't remember which update it was, but the strange thing about it was that I couldn't fix the problem by restoring the system to a restore point that was made BEFORE the update.  Since I hadn't made any other changes to the system between when it worked and when it stopped working, I can only assume that the update caused the problem, and as such I believe it IS Microsoft's fault.
As to the Auto-Connect feature, I hadn't even thought of that, but since I use my internet ALL THE TIME, it would be really annoying to have to manually connect every boot up.
Which brings me back to the workaround.  If you have Auto-Connect enabled, and you disable WLAN AutoConfig and set it to Manual in your Services interface, then reboot the system, does it solve the CPU issues?  If the answer is yes, then you can do what I'm doing:
    1.  Go to Start, then in the search box type "task" and you should see the Task Scheduler come up as an option.
    2.  Open the Task Scheduler and click on "Create Task..." (by default this should be on the right-hand side of the window in the Actions pane).
    3.  In the General tab, give the task a name and (optionally) a description, and put a check mark in the box at the lower left that says "Run with highest privileges".
    4.  In the Triggers tab, add a trigger.  In the new window, choose "At log on" from the dropdown box at the top, set it to run for "Any user", and then head to the advanced settings section of the window.  Put a check mark in the box for "Delay task for:" and set the delay for one minute.  Make sure that there is a check mark in the box for "Enabled".  Then click OK.
    5.  In the Actions tab, add an action.  In the new window, make sure that "Start a program" is selected in the drop down box at the top (should be the default choice).  In the field where you specify the program to run, type in "SC".  In the "Add arguments (optional):" field, type in "Start wlansvc".  Then click OK.
    6.  Go through the other tabs to make sure you're happy with all of the other settings.  The default values should be just fine, but feel free to change them if you want to.  Then click OK.
    7.  Make sure that WLAN AutoConfig is still set to Manual.
    8.  Re-enable your Auto-Connect feature.
    9.  Reboot the system.
About 60 seconds after you log into your user account you should see a black command window flash onto the screen and then disappear again.  That is your automatic task running and starting up the WLAN AutoConfig servicve.  Another 30-60 seconds later and you should have access to your wireless network and the internet, and you don't have to interact with it or manually start anything.  You can also try setting the task delay to 30 seconds rather than 1 minute, but on my system that wasn't a long enough delay to prevent the CPU usage issues, whereas 1 minute was sufficient.  On my system, it enables the wireless before the system even finishes loading up my normal startup applications like my antivirus, so Idon't even notice a slowdown on the bootup process, let alone any wait time before I can use my internet.
This isn't a fix, and what we really need is for Microsoft to figure out what they did wrong, and fix it, but in the meantime, this works.
    Good luck
On a side note:  Unless Microsoft gets busy on fixing Vista so that it's backwards compatible with my old games, I'm still going to downgrade to XP (like a LOT of people have been doing for various reasons)... assuming I can find XP compatible hardware drivers anyway.  Right now I can get more of my games to run under Linux than I can under Vista, despite the fact that they were programmed to run in a DirectX Windows environment only... that's simply unacceptable.

  • Exchange 2013 Domain Prep Fails: Setup /prepareschema, setup /PrepareAD, Setup /PrepareDomain

Whenever I try to prep for a 2013 exchange install I always get:
"earlier versions of the server roles that are installed were detected"
whenever I try to run Setup /prepareschema OR setup /PrepareAD OR Setup /PrepareDomain
I am working on a Server 2012 standard machine with Exchange 2010 currently installed. This server is a DC (bad I know), DNS, DHCP.
I am trying to prep the domain so that I can install Exchange 2013 on a VM and eventually remove Exchange 2010 from the organization altogether.
There are no other domain controlelrs in the domain. The domain started life as a SBS 2003 machine which was demoted and removed once the server 2012 box was up with exchange 2010 running.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is some info that may help:
    1. PrePare Schema
Navigated an elevated command prompt to the folder with Exchange 2013 CU3.
    Ran setup /PrepareSchema
This command should perform the following tasks:
A: Connects to the schema master and imports LDAP Data Interchange Format (LDIF) files to update the schema with
Exchange 2013 specific attributes. The LDIF files are copied to the Temp directory and then deleted after they are imported
    into the schema.
B: Sets the schema version (ms-Exch-Schema-Verision-Pt) to a Exchange 2013 value.
This command fails with: Earlier versions of server roles that were installed were detected.
First I confirmed that administrator account for domain is a member of schema admins and enterprise admins.
    Next I ran asdiedit.
    I navigated to: "CN=ms-Exch-Schema-Version-Pt,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=BDA,DC=LAN"
and reviewed the current "rangeUpper" attribute.
The ms-Exch-Schema-Verision-Pt is not updated to CU3 range Upper setting.
The current range upper 14734 which means its still at Exchange 2010 SP3 settings.
In short, updaing the schema fails.
    2. Prepare Active Directory
Navigated an elevated command prompt to the folder with Exchange 2013 CU3.
    setup /PrepareAD [/OrganizationName:<organization name>]
This command fails with: Earlier versions of server roles that were installed were detected.
    schema update version 56
I began reviewing the long, long list of the following containers and objects under
     CN=<Organization Name>,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=<root domain>
which are required for Exchange 2013:
    missing cn=Auth Configuration
    missing CN=ExchangeAssistance
    missing CN=Monitoring Settings
    missing CN=Monitoring Settings
    missing CN=Monitoring Settings
    missing CN=Workload Management Settings
Checked Management role groups within the Microsoft Exchange Security Groups OU
missing Compliance Management group  --- Manually created this entry
    Step 3 Prepare Domain:
Navigated an elevated command prompt to the folder with Exchange 2013 CU3.
    Ran setup /PrepareDomain
This command fails with: Earlier versions of server roles that were installed were detected.
    confirmed the following:
ObjectVersion property fails as it is still set to Echange 2010 sp3 -  13040
You have a new global group in the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container called Exchange Install Domain Servers-DONE
The Exchange Install Domain Servers group is a member of the Exchange Servers USG in the root domain.-DONE
On each domain controller in a domain in which you will install Exchange 2013, the Exchange Servers USG has permissions
on the Domain Controller Security Policy\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Manage Auditing and Security Log policy.-DONE
    Thanks.

Whenever I try to prep for a 2013 exchange install I always get:
"earlier versions of the server roles that are installed were detected"
    Hi,
That tells us that you are trying to run the prep on your combined DC and Exchange 2010 Server - That will not work. Run it on the Server where you plan to install Exchange 2013.
It is not mandatory to run this before the actuall Exchange install - It will run automatically for you, if it hasn't been done already and if you are logged on with an account with the proper permissions.

  • Help with s-l-o-w-w-w-w-w  Windows file sharing

After much hair-pulling, I finally got windows file sharing working on our 10.4.4 xserve (opening up ports 137-139 helped a lot!) - however I have noticed that directory navigation from the PC's are extremely slow... it takes about 25-30 seconds to navigate from one dir to another... once you navigate into a dir, and then back out, it seems that the next attempt into that same dir is very fast.
    Any tips are appreciated.
Windows PC's are running XP Pro SP2.

There are several threads about improving Windows performance over smb. Do a search for "smb slow" to find them.
The single biggest thing you can do if you're dealing with a lot of little files is to do: sudo sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0
To add this permanently to your server add 'net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0' to /etc/sysctl.conf

  • Release 4: File Folder icon missing in SQL Worksheet

The file folder icon is now missing in the SQL Worksheet. Using File->Open just opens the file in the editor. There is no way to run the SQL file. Clicking on Run in menu across the top causes the "The target bogus.sql cannot be started because it is not a runnable target." error message.
The help for "Using the SQL Worksheet" shows the file folder icon on the screen shot.
How does one open a SQL file and run it in Release 4?
    Mike

The File Open (or Open button on the main toolbar) works better in some respects - it opens in a SQL Worksheet (although not associated with a database connection), name s the tab with the filename, indicates a changed file by switching to italics in the tab name and requests confirmation on close if the file is modified.
However, the default directory is the <SQL Developer directory>/jdev and the file type defaults to all.
The Right-Click in SQL Worksheet opens the file from a default of C:\Documents and Settings\<username> (for me at least) with a file type of *.sql. The tab name is not renamed when opening the file (stays as the connection name) and there is no close confirmation if the file is modified.
The File Open makes it harder to lose stuff, but is a bit more work to use. As redoing lost work is more effort than switching file types and potentially more directory navigation on opening, I think the File Open option is better than the Right-click, but I would prefer something with the File Open functionality from within an existing SQL Worksheet.

  • Setting up Auto-Reseed

I am configuring Auto Reseed with the following parameters.  Each volume contains two databases.
    AutoDagDatabaseCopiesPerDatabase: 1
    AutoDagDatabaseCopiesPerVolume: 2
    AutoDagDatabasesRootFolderPath: c:\exchDBs
    AutoDagVolumesRootFolderPath: c:\exchVols

    DAG1-01b.db (directory)
    DAG1-01b.log (directory)
Navigating to either c:\exchDbs\DAG1-01a OR c:\exchDbs\DAG1-01b shows:
    DAG1-01a.db (directory)
    DAG1-01a.log (directory)
    DAG1-01b.db (directory)
    DAG1-01b.log (directory)
    Event Viewer > Applications > Microsoft > Exchange > HighAvailability > Seeding
    I see error event 1187

In testing, Auto-Reseed works (starts after an hour) and fails over to a working volume.  I don't understand this error.  Following MS convention for auto-reseed, each DB mount point is supposed to have the .db and .log directories.  Two DBs
in one volume will mean that four directories should be seen.  If I reconfigure to show only two directories (with DB and LOG as deeper subdirectories), the error seems to stop but then I get an event error 1111 that the directory structure is incorrect
and that Automatic Reseed is not supported with an invalid path naming convention.
    Anyone familiar with this?

    Hi David,
According to the error message above, it seems that the older database files still present on this volume that were not cleaned up by the Disk Reclaimer.
I suggest try to formats disks in preparation for automatic reseeding. More information as below:
The AutoReseed component that allocates and formats spare disks is called the
Disk Reclaimer. The Disk Reclaimer component automatically formats spare disks in preparation for automatic reseeding at different intervals, depending on the state of the disk. In order for the Disk Reclaimer to format a disk, certain conditions must
    met:
The Disk Reclaimer must be enabled. It is enabled by default, but it can be disabled using
    Set-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup.
The volume must have a mount point in the root volumes path (by default, C:\ExchangeVolumes).
The volume must not have any mount points in the database volumes path (by default, C:\ExchangeDatabases).
If the volume contains any files, none of the files must have been touched for 24 hours.
In addition to the above conditions, the Disk Reclaimer will only attempt to format a given volume once a day.

  • Best Official way to install drivers on Win7 with Xtrem Audio Notebook (Gray)

MBest Official way to install drivers on Win7 with Xtrem Audio Notebook (Gray)? Hi Guys and Creative Gurus,
I have a lot of configuration problem with my Windows 7 configuration and my Xtreme Audio Notebook expresscard (gray one). Mostly due to Creative Drivers installation order. For example, right now the Software Update don't detect my card, even if all seems to work nearly fine (popping and crashing on small sound like directory navigation on Win 7).
So I'm asking: What is the best and official way to install those drivers, including the Console Launcher, on Win 7 ?
Do I have to, from a clean Windows 7, to plug my card, wait for Win 7 to detect and donwload drivers, and instal after that my original XP CD drivers coming with the card to have the Console Launcher?
Or: Do I have, from a clean Win 7 configuration, to remove my internet connection to avoid Win 7 to find a drivers, to install first my XP CD comming from Creative (to have the Console Launcher), and after that to install official Win 7 drivers from Creative web site ?
Or, do I have, from a clean Win 7 configuration without any internet connection, to first install official Creative Win 7 drivers for my card, and after that to install "something" from "somewhere"? to get the last Console Laucher application?
Or does Creative made a great full package for my card "a la" Daniel_K for Win 7 I just have to install?
I'm asking because for my XtremGamers I use Daniel_K Drivers and this guys just made it simple and working!
Unfortunatly I don't think he have a package for my Xtreme Audio ExpressCard notebook. Anyway, I still apreciate his work !
And additionnaly: Does Win 7 recquire use of OpenAL (like vista)?
That sound some stupids question but guess what, I didn't find those simples information in the whole Creative web site or forum!
    Thanks for your lights guys!

  • Maven project "src" directory not visible in Application Navigator

    JDeveloper 11g Release 2 (11.1.2.1.0)
    First-time user
I built a Maven application containing two Maven projects in JDeveloper but am unable to see the "src" directory in the Application Navigator. When I attempt to create this directory the tool tells me that it already exists which I found to be true by checking the file system directory C:\JDeveloper\mywork\.
Is this a simple setting that I am missing or is it something more significant?
    Thanks

in the project propertties. the src should be added in the project source path..

  • Navigator Not Visible in Directory Manager

On Win XP Pro Oracle Directory service does not start on boot, even though it is set to do so automatically. It will start manually from the Windows services app. After starting the service, oidctl runs successfully from the command line "C:\>oidctl connect=oid90 server=oidldapd instance=3 configset=0 start"
On start up Oracle Directory Manager (ODM) accepts the orcladmin/welcome logon and displays the connecting message and loading schema message. ODM opens but does not display the Navigator panel. ODM seems to be connected to the database because Objects, attributes, entries etc. are visible by selecting choices from the Operations menu.
When OID was first installed the navigator sometimes did and sometimes did not display. Now it is never displayed.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Hi Jay,
I am a Business Analyst and would like to get Oracle Workflow running so I can play with Workflow Builder. I'm just trying to get my hands dirty with this stuff. I want to use OID as a directory server for workflow.
I uninstalled 9.0.1.1 in installed 9.2.x.x. The results are similar.
The Bind request to LDAP failed error re-appeared. I had somehow worked around this on the previous install but I don't know how. The command ldapbind -h trburns -p 389 -D cn=orcladmin -w ohwgwead returns Cant contact ldap server. The error seems to be common as it appears in numerous postings but I havent seen a clearly described explanation and solution.
Do you have access to Oracles knowledge base? It must have a description of this problem.
I can open ODM after the bind failure by clicking the close icon. Double clicking the banner works in cases where the navigator tree is not visible. Many thanks for that tip.
Any authoritative information you could provide about the bind problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Folder navigation. How do you navigate up the file directory when you didnt navigate down?

If i search a file in finder and then i want to see what folder and go to that folder how do you do that? In windows you can click the drop down button that shows the entire directory path but there doesnt seem to be any similar function in the finder window. You can click the back button to go back up the tree if you got there by navigating down but if you went directly to the file form a search there doesnt seem to be any way to go up the path.

    To add to CT...
    or... using the path bar.

  • Why I cann't see the navigator pane in directory manager?

Why I cann't see the navigator pane (left side of the double window interface according to 'oracle internet directory administrator's guide') while I login to directory manager?
The other confusing question is why the directory information still exists after I uninstalled, deleted all related files to Oracle products, and re-installed them?
    Thank any help.

    Hi,
make sure JDeveloper ios closed and the directory structure or their contained file aren't used elsewhere.

Hope you are using IE. If so,
    1. Go to  Tools - > Internet Options - > Advanced .
Enable " http1.1 through Proxy Connections".
    2. Increase the Cache.
    B. <b>Check whether the user has permissions to access the portal content</b>
