Disable save prompt when closing form

Hello,
I am looking for a scripting command to stop the prompt to save a form. I am sending the form via a submit button, so a locally saved copy is unnecessary since the form will be attached to a sent email.
Does anyone know how to stop the prompt to save the form once it is completed?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Go to System Preferences > General & check "Ask to keep changes when closing documents."

  • Pages - Eliminate save prompt when closing file with no changes made

    Hey everyone -
    This isn't really a question thread, but rather a solution I built to eliminate one of Page's annoyances.
    This problem has been encountered before, but the question isn't truly ever answered. I would reply to those (they're the top results in Google), but because they are archived I can't change them at all.
    The Problem:
    Even after disabling the .pages prompt, it still prompts to save files just before I close them. The exact message is: Do you want to save the changes made to the document "some_document"?
    Details:
    System Version:          OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
    Kernel Version:          Darwin 13.0.0
    Pages Version: 5.0.1
    The Solution:
    Create a workflow.
    Open Automator, select New Document.
    Select Service, then click Choose.
    Set Service Receives to "no input" and change the "in" drop down list to "Pages.app".
    Next, search for Quit Application, put it in there.
    Set this to Pages.app, and ensure the box "Ask to save changes" is unchecked.
    Save it. I believe there is a default location, so don't specify a path. Give it a name. Quit Automator.
    Assign a keyboard shortcut to the workflow.
    Open System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts.
    Go to Services on the left hand panel.
    Scroll to the bottom.
    Under General, you should see the workflow you created. Mine was called "Quit Pages".
    Click it, then select the Add Shortcut button.
    Give it a rarely used shortcut. I chose ⌘⇧X, but you're welcome to do whatever you like.
    Quit System Preferences.
    At this point, it should work. Open up Pages, open a new document, then do the shortcut. It should exit without any issue. However, I did not like having to learn a new shortcut just to pull this off. So I did this:
    Use BetterTouchTool to configure it properly.
    Download BetterTouchTool and install it.
    Open it up.
    Go to the Basic Settings tab, and ensure the "Launch BetterTouchTool on startup" is checked.
    Click the Gestures tab.
    Select Keyboard in the horizontal bar.
    On the left hand panel, near the words "App Specific", click the plus symbol. This should allow you to add an application.
    Select Pages.
    Click the Pages application in the left hand panel (if it is not already).
    At the bottom of the main panel, click "Add new shortcut".
    Keyboard shortcut: ⌘Q
    Trigger other keyboard shortcut: ⌘⇧X (or whatever you used in System Preferences).
    Quit the application.
    Open it back up. It should now be running in your Menubar.
    Now, if you open a .docx document with Pages, then hit ⌘Q, it should exit without any fuss. HOORAH!
    Granted, this does have a few tradeoffs. If you go to Pages > Quit, it will still prompt you. Also if you want to close the current window (⌘W), it will still prompt you.

    You get this behavior if the file which you opened is not a Pages '09 one.
    If it is a Pages '08 one, it must be entirely transcoded so it's a modified document and given that, the program must ask you to save it.
    If you save it as a Pages '09 document, you will no longer be asked to save (in these conditions).

    Do you want to automatically save the document, or do you want to skip the save altogether?

  • How to Disable Save Button in interactive form via sfp

    Dear,experts
    My requirement is that Disable Save Button in interactive form via sfp .Is there any options to do this or write Javascript/Formcalc.Please help!
    Thanks
    Vince.

    I found a adobe documentation that says that If you want to disable some toolbar buttons, you will have to use application-level Javascript. Looks like it is not possible from ADLC
    Place the following Javascript code inside a .js file in
    %ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\JavaScripts   to disable the toolbar buttons:
    // [File - Create Adobe PDF Using Acrobat.com], plus toolbar button
    app.hideMenuItem("WebServices:CreatePDF");
    app.hideToolbarButton("Weblink:CreatePDF");
    // [File - Collaborate], plus toolbar button
    app.hideMenuItem("Annots:FileCollaboration");
    app.hideToolbarButton("Annots:CollabToolButton");
    app.hideToolbarButton("CommentTask");
    app.hideToolbarButton("SigTaskButton");
    app.hideToolbarButton("SaveFileAs");
    app.hideToolbarButton("Save");

  • How to remove Open/Save prompt when using Internet Explorer

    Acrobat XI Pro was deployed with custom MST that had When using Internet Explorer prompt for Open/Save.  Is there a hack that will disable this prompt without having to re-install Acrobat XI Pro?

    An engineer gave me a possible solution, but I don't have permission on my machine to test it. You can try the following:
    -- snip --
    This is because of not having necessary permissions to edit the registry. To obtain the permission, follow following steps:
    Right click on “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroPDF.FDF.1” and click permissions.
    On permissions dialog, click Advanced.
    In the new dialog, select Owner tab and make current user as owner.
    Click Apply and close the dialog.
    Close the permission dialog.
    Try editing the registry as suggested.

  • Disabling "Save as" when PDF is online

    Hello,
    I have a PDF form on our server and when clients fill it out I don't want them to be able to file|save the form to their desktop. All I want for them to be able to do is click the "submit by email" button. I looked through the Security Properties section and see the Documents Restrictions Summary but don't see a setting for what I want. Can someone direct me to this?
    Thank you.

    Actually, I'm nearly certain you CAN disable the save button on the form. This won't prevent someone from saving a copy of the form, but it would certainly discourage it. (Depending on how tech savvy your user base is, disabling the button might be enough.)
    Unfortunately, I don't know how to do this, but I would really like to know. (My user base is very computer illiterate.)

  • Firfox 4 - can we not save TABS when closing?? I just lost everything!

    I installed Firefox 4, had several TABs open before the upgrade. When Firefox 4 opened I had all the TABs. When I wanted to close Firefox there was no SAVE button, so I lost everything.

  • The older version would allow to save tabs when closing, how can i get the new version to do the same?

    the previous version would ask something like 'save file' when i would close firefox. as i use various tabs this is a very helpful feature for me. i would like to get this same feature on the new version, otherwise i want to know how to go back to the older version.
    thanks

    Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
    If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
    If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Change filename prompted when submit form by email

    My form has a submit by email button for users to submit the filled form through email(attached as pdf). Upon clicking the submit button, I want the pdf attachment to be in a customized filename (eg:YYYYMMDD_form1_txtfield1.pdf), or the least if user choose to submit using external webmail and prompted to first save the file, the filename(on the Save As dialog) will automatically be set to the customized filename.
    Is this possible? or Is there any other alternatives? I had went through a number of forums/articles on this but I did not find the solution.
    Thanks loads.

    The send pdf in an email will save the fiel as is in a temp folder with the name of the PDF that already exists. If you want to change that name you will have to do a file save operation. For security reasons you cannot automate the file save without the user's knowledge (they have to click OK). I do not know of a way to seed the SaveAs dialog with the filename that you want.

  • Programaticly changing the (suggested only) file name in the save prompt when signing a document?

    When you sign a document in Adobe X (or XI), the system says it needs to save the file first.   Is there some way to change the (suggested only) file name to a different value for that save?
    Right now, people open a blank form - lets call it formX.pdf.   They fill it in and sign it.  The suggested file name for the save is FormX.pdf.   I can generate a unique file name which i'd like to put in place of the suggested default...

    AFAIK, you can't do it with code. Your best option might be to use a form field to show a message to the user when they sign the document with that information.

  • How to disable 'Save' button when OAF and XML Publisher integrated...URGENT

    Hi,
    I am new to the OA Framework and XML publisher. I have been working on a requirement where I am designing a new page in Manager Self Service with few fields and a submit button. Also designed a RTF template in XML publisher to display the output in PDF format.
    When the details are entered on the page and click on 'Submit' button, the PDF will Open with the data populated. This is working perfectly... thanks to the forum.
    But my issue is: When the submit button is clicked, it displayes a dialog box with Open/Save/Cancel options and if I click the 'Open', the PDF will be opened. But my client is a retail client and they don't want store managers to save this PDF so either I have to skip this dialog box and directly open the PDF or I have to disable the 'Save' on the dialog box.
    Gurus -- Please help me how to achieve this. This is very urgent
    Below is the piece of code I am using in the controller to generate the PDF.
    TemplateHelper.processTemplate(
    ((OADBTransactionImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean).getOADBTransaction()).getAppsContext(),
    APP_NAME,
    TEMPLATE_CODE,
    ((OADBTransactionImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean).getOADBTransaction()).getUserLocale().getLanguage(),
    ((OADBTransactionImpl)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean).getOADBTransaction()).getUserLocale().getCountry(),
    inputStream,
    TemplateHelper.OUTPUT_TYPE_PDF,
    null,
    pdfFile);
    Thanks in Advance,
    Naren

    Frank, thanks for the update.
    But do you want me to try ControllerContext.getInstance().getCurrentViewPort().isDataDirty(); in button disable property?
    I have written one method in my am like
    public boolean isTransactionDirty(){
    return getDBTransaction.isDity();
    and exposed that method to client side and i try to use this method in my button disable property as
    disable#{bindings.isTransactionDirty.execute} but this is not working.
    Thanks

  • Disable Sleep Mode When Closing Lid

    Is it possible to disable this? It is really inconvenient and annoying. I don't want my computer open on my desk when its simply playing music or streaming media. Also, sleep obviously logs me off instant messengers. This is also inconvenient when moving rooms and such. You have to then restart downloads, relogin, or carry it around open. This would seem simple and an easy setting to switch, but I have as yet not been able to find it. I know this exists on my PC laptop so I'm assumging Mac has a similar function? I'm not sure this is my first Mac. Thanks for any help with this issue.

    I haven't used more than one PC laptop (my Dell XPS) but it gives you the option to select what you want it to do when the lid gets closed and you also have the option of what you want it to do when you press the power button (just like all of our computers do, which are all Dells, other than my 2 Macs).
    The settings for Windows (as this is probably just a part of the OS and not company specific) let you have your "Sleep" option, "Hibernate" option, "Shutdown" option and the "Ask Me What To Do" option (also with the standard options of: select # of minutes until Screensaver, Turning off the Monitor/Display, and Turning off the Hard Drive). So you can set it so that your system always sleeps when you hit the power button when it is already turned on, or that it always asks what you want it to do. And then for the laptop lid being closed, you can set it to your system staying on, it going to sleep, it hibernates... etc, so that you can cater it all to what you want it to be like, your needs....
    If there is one thing that I would like to see in the future for Macs, this feature would be it (well I have a few I would like to see). The networking aspect (joining up to a -possibly Windows- home network easily) and other customization features of the look and feel of the OS are the other main 2.
    I love using WindowsBlinds and other skinning software, to change the look and feel, and the option to change how the main menu bar looks and acts which I do think could be harder -possibly?- for a Mac as the menu changes with each application that is the *currently focused* window compared to Windows just adding in a tab to the bar with the window's name and you get all the "menu info" from inside the tabbed window instead... If applications like this do exist for OSX, I would love to hear about them...

  • Possible to disable password prompt when installing aps?

    Trying out a Macbook pro to decide if I want to keep it or not. I own an IT company and am a PC user, so this is a new environment for me.
    When I install programs, it prompts me for authentication to do so. This is as annoying in this OS as it was in Windows, but at least I know where to disable it in windows. So far, I have been unable to find it in this OS and the security options in preferences has nothing at all for this option.
    Thanks for any assistance to the noob.
    John

    Hi John;
    When I worked for IBM, I can't remember how many times users would be migrated from Winders boxes to Unix ones because their need for power had increased. Once migrated over to Unix they started to griping about the password prompt of Unix. They would carry on like it was the end of the world. After I told them, my manager told them and my manager told their manager that it was a feature of Unix, they would finally stop griping. I doubt that they were happy but at least they stopped bugging me.
    I would usually suggest they move back to Winders but everyone of them felt that the Unix box was far more powerful so they remained with it. They never seemed satisfied enough with the extra power of the Unix workstation to overlook the password prompt. I really find that surprising.
