i am a student and am having constent troubles from the administrator disallowing all access to the command prompt and i need to know how to gain access to it because we have had to compile using batch files, and it is rare that we have a chance to use the command prompt to compile instead.
and when i say restricted i mean i open it and it says "disabled by administrator" and i don't know if it matters but we are running novell
i know some of you know how to hack and would not have any problem with this but there is only 4 of us studing java (none of us know how to hack) and have ran out of ideas on how to unrestrict it so if anyone knows how please post and thanks.

have you tried typeing
"cmd" or "command" into the dialog box produced by the Start->Run menu?
If this does not work then try modifying the registry setting
(win95 98 and me)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\
WinOldApp]
or
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\

to "1"
If you do not have permission to do this. Then you might try downloading and installing one of the
substitue command interpreters.

    "... we have asked the teacher and he says the administrator says that restrictions will not be lowered for anyone"
    This is such horsesh!t and I do not see for the like of me why you should have to tolerate it.
    See the steps above.
    Try [url http://www.scintilla.org]sKiTe you can do most command line stuff with the text area on the right such as appletviewer the -deprecation option and so on. Its a deceptively simple IDE that has a whole bundle of tricks that comes with it - very good not just for newbies - me too, I probably write 80%+ of my app development with it. Its also very, very lightweight at around 700KB so it can be easily moved about with floppies etc.
    Other than this, I would still judge that you have a right to kick up a storm about this and would further inform you that - without doubt - your instructor is a complete knob.

  • MacBook G4 SUDOERS File at Command Prompt - Can't Exit

    So someone gifted me with an old MacBook G4 - and now stuck in Command Prompt.
    I just tried to create a new admin - just to clean things up. I'm a complete newbie though  and got stuck in Sudoers command prompt with --INSERT-- at the end and it's not letting me exit. Help??

    There is no such thing as a MacBook G4.  If it says iBook G4 on the screen, that is the name of the computer itself.  And that's not to be confused with the name iBook given to the iOS and Mavericks software for reading Apple published electronic books.  Apple when they changed to the Intel chip renamed their consumer machines MacBook.  Now the line between MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air is more blurred as the 13" MacBook Pro has many of the features more expected of a consumer machine than a Pro machine.
    iBook G4's with a minimum of 867 Mhz can handle Mac OS X 10.5 retail.   Otherwise they need Mac OS X 10.4.6 retail or earlier.  If they didn't have the original discs, you won't be able to run the old Mac OS 9 from 2001 on them.

  • Uninstalling bulk dll's from gac folder at one time using command prompt

    Hi All,
    I need to unistall bulk dll's at a time from the GAC folder using command prompt ,can any one suggest how to do this.

    Hi,
    1. Create a batch file as "Uninstall.bat".
    2. Edit this file and copy the below statements in it:
    gacutil.exe /uf DLL1
    gacutil.exe /uf DLL2
    gacutil.exe /uf DLL3
    gacutil.exe /uf DLL4
    gacutil.exe /uf DLL5
    replace DLL1 to DLL5 with your actual DLL names, which you want to uninstall.
    3. Open Visual Studio Command Prompt as Administrator.
    4. Browse to the location where you have placed the above batch file.
    5. Run the batch file.
    Hope this will help.

  • Can config.bin be "restored" from a command prompt?

    After trying to find ways to configure the router using batch commands, I've realized that configuring the router with port forwarding enabled and backing up the router to config.bin, and then configuring it with port forwarding disabled and backing up the router to config.bin, I now have an ON and OFF. If there is a way to load config.bin to the router via command prompt it would achieve what I'm looking for.
    Thanks,

    Sure.
    The Messenger project at Jakarta already has Producer and Consumer classes that can be run from the command line to send / receive messages via JMS. So you don't even need to write any code ;-)

  • Lenovo has different F8 screen, can't get to safe mode with command prompt - account locked out

    Thinkpad W500, Win7Pro.  Can't login: "the referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to". I need to boot to safe mode with command prompt to enable the Administrator account (disabled by default) with a "net user administrator /active:yes" command, but Lenova has their own recovery and interfaces which are preventing me from accessing with normal windows techniques. I either need to be able to get a command prompt on the true C: drive, or reset this lockout situation, and fast...  Waiting more than 180 minutes did not work, and using system restore is not an option-key software patches and additions make this very unattractive, and I know how to do that.
    Optional Information:
    Computer OS: Windows 7
    Browser: IE
    Already Tried:
    -ThinkVantage button (reg and advanced views) -a boot disk for pwd reset program (I know password, but I am locked out - didn't help) -F8, Repair options and all safe modes -NOT system restore, as we are trying to not undo months of software revisions - we just need to login!

    If we take the error messages seriously, then probably the first thing that you would have to do would be to replace the malformed library:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Versions/A/Security
    If you have another computer with the same operating system, you could connect via target disk mode and copy over the good library to replace the bad one. I don't know if this library is different between 10.2.6 and 10.2.8. If the library were fixed, that might solve your other problems and it might not. There is no way for us to know.
    Alternatively, you could do an archive and install.

  • I have an hp p3005dn printer. how can i print to "lpt1" in command prompt mode. win 7.

    I am trying to get my printer so I can print to it from "Command Prompt".  I have done the "Port" thing to allow Windows to accept "LPT1" as an alternate printer spool name.  I know there are a command or two that are required in Command Prompt itself, but I do not know them.  Can anybody help with the commands required in Command Prompt.
    Thanks

    Hello Greenwood Newton HS,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
    Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
    If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • How can I pass a value to the command prompt?

    I was wondering how can I pass a value to the command prompt with Windows and Linux? I'm more interested in Linux's system than Windows though. Is there a way to return info from the command prompt?

    Here is a snippet from http://mindprod.com/jglossexec.html that explains how in detail.
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("myprog.exe") will spawn an external process that runs in parallel with the Java execution. In Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, you must use an explicit *.exe or *.com extension on the parameter. It is also best to fully qualify those names so that the system executable search path is irrelevant, and so you don't pick up some stray program off the path with the same name.
    To run a *.BAT, *.CMD, *.html *.BTM or URL you must invoke the command processor with these as a parameter. These extensions are not first class executables in Windows. They are input data for the command processor. You must also invoke the command processor when you want to use the < > | piping options, Here's how, presuming you are not interested in looking at the output:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("cmd.exe /E:1900 /C MyCmd.cmd" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("C:\\4DOS601\\4DOS.COM /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("D:\\4NT301\\4NT.EXE /E:1900 /C MyBtm.btm" );
    There are also overloaded forms of exec(),
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null);
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com /E:1900 /C MyBat.bat", null, "C:\\SomeDirectory");
    The second argument can be a String [], and can be used to set environment variables. In the second case, "C:\\SomeDirectory" specifies a directory for the process to start in. If, for instance, your process saves files to disk, then this form allows you to specify which directory they will be saved in.
    Windows and NT will let you feed a URL string to the command processor and it will find a browser, launch the browser, and render the page, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("command.com http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Another lower level approach that does not require extension associations to be quite as well set up is:
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec ("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler http://mindprod.com/projects.html" );
    Note that a URL is not the same thing as a file name. You can point your browser at a local file with something like this: file://localhost/E:/mindprod/jgloss.html or file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html.
    Composing just the right platform-specific command to launch browser and feed it a URL to display can be frustrating. You can use the BrowserLauncher package to do that for you.
    Note that
    rundll32.exe url.dll,FileProtocolHandler file:///E|/mindprod/jgloss.html
    won't work on the command line because | is reserved as the piping operator, though it will work as an exec parameter passed directly to the rundll32.exe executable.
    With explicit extensions and appropriately set up associations in Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP you can often bypass the command processor and invoke the file directly, even *.bat.
    Similarly, for Unix/Linux you must spawn the program that can process the script, e.g. bash. However, you can run scripts directly with exec if you do two things:
    Start the script with #!bash or whatever the interpreter's name is.
    Mark the script file itself with the executable attribute.
    Alternatively start the script interpreter, e.g.
    Runtime.getRuntime( ).exec (new String[]{"/bin/sh", "-c", "echo $SHELL"}";

  • DIsabling printing of the sql statement in command prompt

    Hi.
    I am connecting to an access database with my java application. Problem is, it prints the connection and the sql statement there. Is there any way to disable it?
    Example of what is seen at my command prompt:
    connection is dbc:odbc:Inventory System
    DB: SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ProductID = 1;

    Ah i see where my mistake is now...Gracefully put. Many of the regulars here and in other forums get a little frustrated, either seeing the same basic problems over and over (it's as if Google doesn't work in vast parts of the world) or or the occaisional person who really isn't willing to work or willing to learn - they want "the answer". Sometimes after a bad run of that we get a little sensitive and snarky. Don't feel bad, there's a mountain to learn with JDBC and, personally, I think everyone is entitled to one brain f*rt a week (<snark> although this may count as one-and-a-half </snark>). Good luck.

    Hi
    You can run this code from the command prompt in the same way as you run any other simple java program. The only thing is you need to set the Home and Local interfaces in the classpath.And obviously if u had deployed the bean in ur app server container, then its all over.
    And one more thing is that u need to set the provider URL in the InitialContext created in the client program.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    when deploying mappings from the coomand line or when i try to run some other script in OMBPlus i usually do the following:
    * Create a .bat file that will call your tcl script it will look something like this:

    rem your script file
    call OMBplus "<path to your script>\scripts\DeployMapping.tcl"
    cd <path to your script>\scripts\

    OMBCONNECT <user>/<passowrd>@<server name>:<port>:<Service Name>;
    OMBCC 'MY_PROJECT';
    #Deploy Mapping
    OMBCONNECT CONTROL_CENTER <control_center_username/control_center_password>@<server name>:<port>:<service name> USE REPOS '<design repository user>';
