Group policy to disable command prompt and disable registry editter

I have enabled in group policy that it prevents access to the command prompt and that it prevents access to registry editing tools and this doesnt seem to be taking effort on the test computer.

This counts for admins login in too! (can be annoying)
so I think http://www.computerstepbystep.com/registry_editor_windows_7.html may help!(very long winded/ bitty process)
I've found the best way is to leave the desktop locked down and use PSEXEC to make edits and changes.

  • Disable Reply All button via Group Policy without disabling keyboard shortcut

At my organization, we've used Group Policy to disable the Reply to All button in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. When you use the setting in the ADM files for the respective versions of Office to disable a Command bar ID, the Reply to All button is disabled,
however they keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + R) is still active. This forces our users to think a bit more before using the Reply All function.
The keyboard shortcut continues to work, because there's a separate setting to disable the keyboard shortcuts. The same is true for Office 2013's GP templates, however, it does not function as expected.
When I use the Office 2013 admin templates and disable command bar ID 355 (Reply All), it disables the button as expected, however it also disables the keyboard shortcut for Reply All without actually setting it as disabled in the disable shortcut keys.
Has anyone had success disabling a command bar ID without disabling the associated shortcut keys? If so, how did you do it?

    Hi,

  • Group Policy to disable ability to turn off wireless networking in Windows 8.1 Update

I am wanting to disable the ability to turn off wireless networking in our Windows 8.1 Update clients using Group Policy. We are a school that runs classroom management software enabling the teachers to view what the students have on their screens.
Students just switch off their wireless to avoid detection. I have searched the Group Policy listings and can't find anything.
    Thanks.

    Hi  GeoffAUS,
I can’t find a direct group policy to disable the users’ ability to turn off the wireless network in Windows 8.1.
If we just disable the display of wireless connection, we will need to additionally disable the ability that disabling the driver in device manager.
We could try the workaround to use UAC to control the wireless connection.
Go to Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policy->Security Options, and set the option
User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for standard users.
Please make sure the computer automatically connect to Wireless.

  • How java runs in command prompt and why java runs on it

how java runs in command prompt and why java runs on it

command prompt was used before the development of IDEs like RAD,eclipse etc.
its still used for better understanding of the compilation and errors.
type the java file and save the file(source file) in the bin folder of ur jdk environment with extension .java. the source file must be the one that has the main method declared.
in the cmd prompt screen , set the path of bin folder.
    eg:C:/program files/jdk(some version)/bin/...
    for compilation,type:
javac (source file_name).java and press enter
    for running the file:
    java source file_name

  • How to access a domain server which is targeted by Group Policy set to block Inbound and Outbound connections

    Hi,
I have a practice lab with two physical servers 2012 R2, one of them is Hyper-V host and one of VMs is a domain controller. I was doeing some exercises with firewall rule deployment through Group Policy, so I created an outbound rule to block port 80 which
was targeted to Domain Computers. Now my other physical server has inbound and outbound connections set to block and domain controller cannot be contacted to update policy ( with rule removed ). At least that is my understanding. Maybe I messed up something
with the profiles too, because port 80 would not have block all outband traffic, or?
I am new to IT so my understanding is still poor.
    Best
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
If we block inbound connections, all connections that do not have firewall rules that explicitly allow the connection will be blocked.
If we block outbound connections, all connections that do not have firewall rules that explicitly allow the connection will be blocked.
If we block outbound TCP port 80, it will mean all websites will be unreachable, for TCP port 80 is for HTTP.

  • Starting a WSAD server from the command prompt and not from the IDE UI

    Hi,
is there a way to run the WSAD server from the command prompt instead of using the IDE UI . i have tried starting the server from the Directory i have installed WSAD " D:\Program Files\IBM\WebsphereStudio\runtimes\base_v5\bin>startServer.bat" but it gives the Following error " The system cannot find the path specified." i am working . do i have to specify the workspace that i am currently working on

to see if the network adapter has registered with OPMN run: opmnctl status
the 6200 message is a timeout which can be set in opmn.xml, the reports server(s) and other processes managed by OPMN should still stop.
Try opmnctl stopall or opmnctl shutdown
Does the timeout shows up regularly ie can you repeat it?
After the stopall or shutdown try to start everything up again and try to stop the single reports server process again.

  • Every time i try to open itunes to update apps for iphone 4s i can never get it to open, i went to command prompt and did the netsh winsock reset, still cannot open itunes

i cannot open itunes to update apps on my iphone. i did the command prompt-netsh winsock reset, still cannot open itunes.

Try following steps and test one at a time:
    1. Check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    2. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    3. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / ADD N REMOVE PROGRAMS / hightlight QUICKTIME, click CHANGE or UNINSTALL then REPAIR.

  • Use Group Policy to disable user interface items and shortcut keys in IE

    Hi,
We are creating a kiosk mode of IE with full restriction to the machines drives and other applications. For that we need to disable all the shortcuts keys like ctrl, shift, alt and combination of these keys. Can anyone help me on this. i want to done this
through GPO. Client machines are windows 7 and we are having windows server 2008 R2 (AD server).
    Thanks,
    UdayaKumar S

I need to disable the ctrl, Alt, and shift keys and combinations of these keys with other keys as for example, cltrl+H, Ctrl+o, ets., and most important thing is, we need to apply it only through GPO not by using any other tools/ applications.
I'm not aware of any GPO-only methods to achieve your goal (hence my other suggestions), sorry.
Others might comment here with their thoughts/suggestions/experiences..

  • I am looking for an existing ADM file for group policy to disable Javascript

Does anyone know if there are any ADM files for acrobat versions 5,6,7, and 9? I also am looking to disable Javascript from the Adobe Reader 9 and X.

Yes, to get your instrument drivers for this device go to the following link:
    http://zone.ni.com/idnet97.nsf/9b2b33e1993d877786256436006ec498/0027109f3d6e32dd86256d6d0068a5bd?OpenDocument
    If this link doesn't work:
    Goto Ni Home,
    NI Developer Zone
    Instrument Driver Network,
    Set Manufacture criteria to: Hewlett-Packard
    For additional keywords type: 33120A
    click go
    and there it is....
    Good luck,

  • Newbie.. how to set command prompt and command aliases

So, I usually log an as a root (Solaris 10), and I would like to have a current folder in my prompt, so I put a line in /etc/profile:

but it shows only a folder that was current at a logon (root home folder)... how could I put it to be dynamic?
also, I would like to have alias

I'd suggest that you do one of the following
    - use roles so that an ordinary user can perform some tasks that require elevated privileges
    - use pfexec
    - use sudo
but it shows only a folder that was current at a logon (root home folder)... how could I put it to be dynamic?

I know these are begginers questions :)You haven't said which shell you are using.
For sh and ksh, then something like
    PS1="\$LOGNAME: \$PWD: "
    should work.

  • Disable Virtual Memory/Page File/Paging File Via Group Policy

We have several machines running Windows Server 2012 and we wanted to disable the paging file using Group Policy.  It took a while to find the answer but I got it working and I wanted to share with you how this is done.  First of all, to do this
manually, you would need to follow these steps:
    1)Right-click Computer, select Properties.
    2)Click on Advanced System Properties
    3)Choose the Advanced tab
4)Under Performance, click the Settings... button
    5)Choose the Advanced tab
6)Under Virtual Memory, click the Change... button
    7)Choose No paging file
Obviously this process is cumbersome just for one system let alone a dozen or more.  To take care of this automatically using Group Policy, you will need to do the following:
1)Create a GPO, then go to the Group Policy Management Editor
    2)Navigate to Computer Configuration>Preferences>Windows Settings>Registry
3)Create a new registry item using the following settings:
    a: Action: Replace
    b: Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    c: Key Path: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
d: Value Name: PagingFiles (do not check the Default option)
    e: Value type: REG_MULTI_SZ
    f: Value data: 0x10000
There is no specific setting in group policy to disable the paging file, so you must instead follow these procedures to allow group policy to modify a registry key in Windows.  I tested it out on a Windows 7 computer and a Server 2012 machine.
No reboot was required, just a simple gpupdate /force command in CMD.  Good luck, and don't forget to test it first!  Not all systems or environments are created equal.

Not supported by Microsoft... On all SKUs.

  • How to access group policy in windows 8 home premium, not 8.1 to disable snipping tool

how do I access group policy to disable the snipping tool in windows 8 home premium? client has not installed update 8.1. client is trying to save pictures to pictures album, but it also saves a screenshot to the documents folder as well regardless
of what save method is used.
    thanks.

You can disable the Snipping Tool by creating the below registry setting
    (save as a .REG file)
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\TabletPC]
    "DisableSnippingTool"=dword:00000001
    ref: http://gpsearch.azurewebsites.net/Default.aspx?PolicyID=2426
I am not aware of any Snipping Tool feature which automatically saves the snip, as a file.
(there are other utilities available which can perform similar functions)
