Disabling Audigy 2 ZS Deco

Tonight, my Logitech z-5500 speakers arri'ved. They work perfectly other than the rear right and left channels when testing using the Creative Speaker settings. However, when using the test feature on the remote for the speakers, all of the channels work perfectly.
This leads me to believe that the Audigy 2 ZS decoder is overriding / interfering with the z-5500's decoder.
I tried to disable the ZS's decoder by going into AudioHQ, then device controls, but there was no decoder tab. So then I tried to update the drivers and software, but I recieved an error saying that the drivers did not detect the sound card installed on my system.
I know that when I purchased this computer, the sound card came installed already. I bought the computer from HP and I think that maybe they installed some sort of ZS that is not the right one.
I am not sure what to do, and any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

switch the front left/right with the rear left/right output on the subwoofer, then run the Creative testing thing again, if "rear" speakers are still quiet you either have a defecti've rear output port or you use the wrong plug

• 1616m & Audigy 2 conflict.

I’ve recently purchased the emu 1616m. Been using it for around a month now without any probs; superb piece of kit!!
I’ve now re install Audigy 2 hardware etc but on reboot I get:
PatchMix DSP Error! You don’t appear to have sufficient emu hardware etc etc.
It seems Audigy 2 takes priority over emu………. Could it be I need to reinstall ALL relevant drivers again, maybe in a particular order?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Jenny thanks:
There are no conflicts I can see or shared IRQ's.
When I disable Audigy in Device Manager I get the same PatchMix DSP Error on reboot. Also get this when I remove the Audigy soundcard & reboot…..
It’s no prob getting my system back running fine again…. I just remove Audigy card & system restore….. I guess it’s no major discomfort to do without the Audigy card but it would be handy:J)
Thanks again for your time..

• Audigy 2 ZS with onboard soun

Hi! Just need a few questions answered:
My motherboard has inbuilt sound, with both Optical-out and SPDIF-out (coaxial), but my Audigy 2 ZS unfortunately does not have these connections. I want to connect my PC to my DDTS-00 decoder via analog and digital, so I can switch from analog while im playing games to digital to watch movies. Would it be possible to connect my decoder to my motherboards inbuilt sound, rather than the Audigy 2 ZS, but still use an analog connection to the audigy ZS for games and music? Can I use the inbuilt sound along with the audigy 2 zs, by installing drivers for both sound cards?
Thanks!

Not totally sure but am 90% sure it wouldnt work, come to think of it there is probably one way you could get it to work but wouldnt be very practical. That is to have the drivers for both onboard and audigy installed and have the onboard enabled in the BIOS you will have to disable one of the cards in device manager other wise windows wont know which card to send sound to so it wont bother. When you want analogue you could enable the audigy in device manager and when you want digital enable onboard and disable audigy but you would probably find that each time you disable and enable each card you will have to reboot, which makes it not very practical.
Hope this helps

• How to disable fade when mute/unmite "Line In" on Audigy

Hello !
My works require to listen many audio sources - that is way I get Audigy 2. When I mute (or unmite) Line In (and some other inputs) Audigy 2 make smoothness increase/decrease audio level. It is fine for many users, but I do NOT want it. I need imediately actions.
How can I remove this ? Maybe registry setting ? Anyhelp will be OK.

I have same problem. Sound card automatically makes fade-in during recording from line-in. So I can't record my guitar. Each recorded sound has increased volume in the beginning. How to disable such feature? Does anybody know?

• Audigy 4 Pro - Setting as 7.1 disables Line-In 1 & 3

8Audigy 4 Pro - Setting as 7. disables Line-In & 3. Hi,
New poster, as generally I've never needed to post before. Having a strange issue - I've recently updated to the latest audigy pro 4 drivers (I've also tried the beta drivers they've made no difference). I'm on a Win XP 32-bit system.
If I setup my system as a 7. system (which I have a 7. creative inspire T7700), I suddenly lose access to hearing what's coming in on my Line In & 3. 2 seems to be fine. They do not appear on any of my mixers or anything when set to 7..
However if you set the system to ANYTHING else it's suddenly fine again, 6. does the trick (but you can select 2. etc and it's still fine). Shame I have a 7. system...
Should I just hunt down some old drivers as this is very annoying. It doesn't let me record on those inputs either when in 7. although they appear in the recording input selection.
grrr
Thanks for your time and help!

ta...yes it does.
works (almost) fine with the acti've X driver, apart from telling me line/mic is NOT available....spent all day (again) trying to get the 3.8 daniel K pack on there.....came back with 'somethings wrong' meessage each time.
it just baffles me that my hard dri've
cd rom AND now (maybe) the card all ferk up at exactly the same time!
i recorded afterwards and it was fine for hours.....
cheers si

• Audigy 2 ZS requires disabling AC

I have an Audigy 2 ZS OEM running on a Dell Dimension 8400 with a GeForce 6800 Video card and a Matrox RT.X0 capture card.
Music Creator shuts down immediately when I play unless track record is on. Having exhausted some other avenues, Cakewalk support wants me to reinstall Windows disabling ACPI. That sounds fairly drastic. Note that Adobe Premiere 6.5 sound editing works fine.
Has anyone else had a problem with the Audigy conflicting with the video card or ACPI that has required disablling ACPI? Are there any known issues?

If you're running XP or W2k then leave ACPI enabled.
Your problem is related to Dell's chipset, Music Creator or to sound card's drivers, you're using.
There has been some problems on Dell machines when using with Audigy's.
Have you updatet Dell's bios with the patch fixes these issues? You find more information 'bout this matter by searching here. And there might be some updates for Audigy too.
BTW, which drivers are you using (ASIO/WDM/MME)? If you can't use ASIO, then I recommend you to try Asio4All driver.

• Disable onboard decoders on Audigy 2

Help someone. I have a Audigy 2 ZS and just got Logitech Z-680 speakers. I am told I have to disable onboard decoders to utilize Logitech decoders for 5. digital. Logitech says go to Creative Audio HQ, click device controls icon, then select Decoder tab. then select SPDIF Passthrough. However, I do not have a Decoder tab to click on. Much less the SPDIF Passthrough. Any suggestions? I am using coax digital and analog 6 hookups however, when I'm digital which is required for DD I only have two channels. Logitech says its being decoded twice and ends up stereo not surround, so I'm supposed to disable the sound cards decoders. This is oem from Gateway. They are no help att all.

Alsas,
It is not so. If I try my games, which are apparntly(cant spell it)y analog, there is no promblemo. I guess alot of games like anolog. Also if I play DVD Audio, No Problemo. I get surround at 24 bit 96 hertz. as long as I am in analog, and playing games that support it,or just plaiying two channel sound with CMSS, (which is great by the way,) it, just when I go digital. I get two channels only. Everybody thinks this is good to have all these decoders, but, I can tell you from my experience, DON'T BUY A SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH A DECODER, unless you need IT. Also, don't buy a factory system with a SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2 ZS installed. Tell them you want to buy it in the CREATIVE box seperately. Otherwise, you won't get what you think you paid for. I talked to "CREATIVE" Service, and they informed me that the only part of the factory sound card you get when you buy one from a, Gateway, Hewlett Packerd, Dell, or, any body else in the computer business,is "The "Sound Chip" Quote. Not the sound card. The sound card is made by "whomever". Therefore, Creative, does not stand behind it. Because in their words, "It's not ours;"
That is why so many people get the response, "DO NOT DETECT". And then. "Talk to whom you bought it from." That is why so many people get a message " Don't Recognize" when they have a problem,or, when they try to download updates to new drivers, or, software, or whatever. Yet, when I pull the sound card to get the model number, as, Creative will ask you for, (before they deny you results) and ask you to remove the software, and reinstall it, which doesn't work, then they blame the OEM! Talk about passing the buck, WHEW!!!
I don't have any answers to any of this, I'm just talkining about MY own experience, in the hopes that some one has an answer to this, HAHA, or learn from it, without spending the hours that I have, trying to make this thing work right.

• How to disable SP-DIF (digital) output on Audigy

Hi, I am using Audigy 2 soundcard connected to Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers. These speakers have built-in Dolby Digital Decoder, and of course SPDIF input for this. Additionally, they have inputs for analog front and rear speakers signal. They can be switched to different operation modes : Dolby Digital decoding, Dolby ProLogic decoding, stereo, and quad modes. I have connected them to my Audigy 2 using analog connections, and also digital output. The problem is, that they process both kind of inputs (analog and digital) all the time in most modes simultaneously. For example, when I set them to "quad" mode (for gaming) they process analog signal that Audigy deli'vers them, but also they attempt to decode the signal from digital input. This produces some kind of phase distortions (basses dissappear and the sound becomes slightly muffled). Possible solutions could be : - disable digital decoding in speakers when using analog output from Audigy - this can't be done, these speakers' decoder is not configurable, - disconnect digital cable when using analog output from Audigy - obvious solution, however not very comfortable - disable "ON-DEMAND" spdif output on Audigy card and enable it when necessary. This would be most satisfying option for me. But.... is it possible at all ? Just something similar to the "Digital output only" setting in soundcard panel, but in my case i'd like to have an option of "Analog outputs only". Thanks in advance for any help Greetings, Martin

• Audigy ZS MCE 2005 spdif passthrough to deco

Hi, I've read every post I can find with anything to do with spdif passthrough and I'm not getting anywhere.
My setup:
IBM Thinkcentre PC with XP MCE 2005
Audigy ZS
Denon AVR-906 DD/DTS capable decoder
Power DVD
The audigy is connected by a 3.5m to mono rca cable to the Denon's coax digital in.
The Decoder tab in Audio Console is set to SPDIF Passthrough.
Media Center and Power DVD are both set to SPDIF.
I understand that I will only get DTS and DD from a source which has it, the DVDs I am testing with have.
My Denon decoder does detect a digital signal, but not DD or DTS. It works fine with other sources, so I believe that the DD/DTS signal is not being passed to the decoder. The result is the same with Media Center and PowerDVD.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Embarassed to say it was a setting on my decoder... Oh well. At least it works now

• Trouble using Creative Audigy 2 ZS Video editor with an external Dolby / DTS Deco

I had purchased a Creative Audigy 2 ZS Video editor for following two requirements,
I wanted to be able to Digitize video from almost any source.<
And I also wanted to have an external Audio Card that I could share between my Home Desktop / Laptop and let Digital Audio Signal get to my Yamaha Reciever that powers a Bose Home Theater Speaker System.<
My typical connection setup is,
Desktop / Laptop >> USB 2.0 Shielded Cable >> Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor >> Optical Out >> LC Optical Cable >> DVD Optical In of Yamaha reciever
I do not have WinDVD or any other program that can allow SPDIF in Pass Through Mode, so I use VLC as my media player. While playing DVD / other DivX / XVid videos with Dolby / DTS / AC3 audio track I get the option of setting the audio to SPDIF Pass through Mode and that's how I use it.
It had been working fine for a while (6 months) and then I was not using the card for a while (been busy at work). And since then I'm not able to use this in SPDIF Pass Through Mode any more.
Each time I select that mode in VLC the player kinda freezes and plays Media File with breaks, making it just un-usable. In case I leave the player audio option to Stereo output?mode it works fine, but I do get only Analogue Audio deli'vered to the External Recei'ver and to say the least, after listening to DTS / Dolby audio this simply doesn't cut it.
I've already updated the latest drivers from Creative Site, have tried the card with two different Dell Laptops (D820 and D80) and my home desktop. It gives exactly same result in all cases.
I've not tested DTS Decoding output from the Device itself, 'cause I don't have sufficient cables to take decoded output from the device and send that to the receiver. But in case I opt that option in VLC player The player keeps playing Video without any issues. I can't validate if it's decoding correctly or not, 'cause I don't have cables to connect all that outputs to the receiver.
Can my problem be related to anything on the Optical connection cable itself?
If someone could shade some light on this issue that would be really helpful.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem and would very much like to know if there are 64bit drivers available.
Thanks in advance.

• Audigy 2 ZS audio out to External Receiver Deco

Can any one help me? I followed the instructions on how to connect the analog audio line outputs of my Audigy 2 ZS to my external Recei'ver(the 5. analog inputs); But the problem that I am getting into, is that I increase the receiver volume Way Way Way up (in the +dB range) to actually here something at a dessent level, and still the sound are not enjoyable as I usually do when I directly connect my DVD player directly into the receiver (the reciever does the audio decoding). When I switch to another audio source, it would have almost blowup my speakers.
I have been trying to bypass the decoding from the card, and use its digital out to connect to my receiver. The other problem is that it is a SPDIF digital output on the card, but my receiver has only standard optical/coaxial digital inputs and no SPDIF. Are there any converters/adapters out there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Audigy 2 Value does SPDIF deco

I want to know if the onboard decoder this card has works with the SPDIF. I have looked but can't seem to find the info myself. I was told this card does have a hardware decoder
for surround sound so if I send a encoded stream through my SPDIF input will the card decode it's I hope I am being clear. Thank you for any help.

I read that info before. I am using the Audigy 2 Value though. I have Digital I/O on a minijack on the back of the card. I made sure and 3 Creative tech guys said Yes it does. Except one said only DD and not DTS. I cannot test it yet becuse I will have to buy the Digital I/O module first. This is what frustrtaes me!? Why is this information so elusi've? Why do I get differnt answer from everybody I speak to I am buying the digital I/O module later this week anyway. It is not a big deal but I would like to know for sure. I trust forum members BUT wouldn't you think they would know? This is why I verified it 2 more times after the first Yes. Just to make sure there was no misunderstandings. If I could pull down that list I would. It won't let me becasue I have no signal on the input. I don't have the proper cable and need the Digital I/O module. Thx for your help.

• Audigy 2 ZS disables sound by her

hi.
got the problem that my audigy 2 zs worked fine for a few minutes with hearing music via winamp.
but at one time, mostly after a few minutes it crashes with a loud"crrr" and after that it is really quiet. on the highest volume level (everywhere) i can hardly hear it.
I installed the driver of the deli'vered CD, tried the auto-updater, formatted, changed it for a new in the shop, changed the pci slot -> nothing changed, sometimes it worked for a few minutes, than the same problem again.
my system:
2400+ on K2M2-L combo board (MSI)
52 mb ram / 9800 se
audigy 2 zs [400] @ non-VGA-PCI port
windows xp mce
i also tested the sound on a sennheiser USB soundcard and everything worked fine...
so please help me!
thx
forgot to say that the "digital only" is not enabled!

Well I've never had the found new hardware message pop up so if that's your problem mine isn't realated. I haven't gotten a chance to switch PCI slots yet, it's the end of the semester and the projects are really piling on. I'll post some results once I get the chance. Oh yea, and there hasn't been any new hardware additions Cat. I just built the computer from the ground up so everything is brand new. I know it has something to do with?a games'?use of the sound card because it's never happened when I wasn't playing a game. With some games it occurs so infrequently it almost never happens, but with Company of Heroes it ALWAYS happens, it's just a matter of when. It's really confusing, but I'm starting to think it may have to do with memory usage, I'm just not sure how.Message Edited by kns09284 on -28-20062:56 AM

• Windows no longer detecting my Audigy 4?(Non-P

Hey all. I've had my Audigy 4 (non-Pro) installed and working super for about 50 days, but it started giving me a weird problem. Windows was no longer detecting the card! It was weird. DX Diag, programs like EVEREST... they all report no sound card whatsoever.
Here are my PC specs:
XP Home Edition
Albatron K8X800 Pro
S754 3200+ ClawHammer
x 2 OCZ ELPE 52 MB(2-3-2-5)
Visiontek XTASY X850XT PE
x 80 GB SATA 2 Seagate, x 80 GB Maxtor
Some other things to note:
XP has been repaired. Went from Service Pack , updates, and all the way to Service Pack 2. The card requires XP w/SP2, yes, so I have that covered.
Onboard audio is disabled through the bios. I have AC'97 integrated audio on this.
My motherboard has fi've PCI slots - although I can only access 4 because my video card is in the way, and I have tried three of those and I get the same problem.
I have tried it in other PCs in my house, double-checked each time - so it is not ESD as I originally believed. It works just fine on those PCs. It is being not located only on MY PC.
So guys and gals, I do not know what to do... I am stumped. It's the weekend so I can't call Creative support until Monday. I don't want to request an RMA through my warranty because clearly it's just a problem with my PC. What should I do?!Message Edited by Celsius on -26-2005 07:36 PM
