Disapointed in Verizon

I’ve had the Droid X for over 20 months, love it, love the unlimited data plan.  I was looking forward to when I could upgrade to 4G.  Now that I'm looking to make that change to 4G I’m told that I will lose the unlimited plans, I’m told that the Droid Bionic is not available – no longer make it ( as of the 27th of June they still advertize it while you are on hold - ?????), and I’m told if I don’t make a change today I lose the unlimited plan for good.  Loved the sales pitch for shared data plan, who are you kidding Verizon with a smile tells me that this is what everyone wants.  This is what Verizon wants.  Verizon got greedy.  I think we all should go back to our basic cell phones, drop the data and use the computer. The phone companies have created a way to make more money off our addictions.  We are being scammed by the Mobil companies using technology – we are a stupid race.
4G, faster data = more availability to the web = more GB used = more money for Verizon

It's not just Mobil, it's Exxon, BP and many others.

  • I think Verizon does nothing, but put keep telling you they will keep looking into it for another few days...

I sent a Droid Bionic in because it was not working they said they would fix it..they said the screen was damaged and is now trying to charge me 400.00 for a phone they have thet I already paid 250.00 for at the store I have insurance on it..I called them I paid my deductable and another one was shipped to me in the mean time Verizon talked me into buying an IPhone which I told them I want the one that you speak to it and it speaks back they sent me the wrong phone...It is the IPhoneS? I'm guess, but I ordered it over the phone when I went into the store to tell them they told me that was my fault for ordering it over the phone becasue people in the call center are not really sales people that's why you should come into the store (I worked for a call center was a senior agent it was my job to make sure all of my sales associates knew all of our products even being in a call center) and now I have been disputing this charge of the 400.  that such I am such a great custumer to them and trusted them I allowed them to automatically deduct from my account....I have never been late in the many years I have been a Verzon custumer have been one for about 5 years or so that is all about to change they just want to keep telling me they will call me in a few days and let me know or 7 to 10 day I  spoke to a lady Anne who saw clearly everything in notes where I should be credited and still wasn't so  tomorrow I'm calling to find out how to get out of my contract and just to let you know Sprint is offering some really good dealls right now...We have had enough and I'm going to report them to the better business bureau I have times, dates, and who I spoke to and most of the time how mistreated I was I am  so disapointed in  Verizon and I won't be the only one switching I have many friends  and family who have had issues with and I said enough is enough and I know at least 4 families following me if I switch..or Verizon doesn't start treating their customers with respect and stop trying to rip  us off like were fools.  There are a lot of other companies out there that welcome our business and have better deals.  >Personal info removed<

  • Horrible services

I recently got verizon fios services installed at my house. The man who installed it was very nice and did a great job. Beings fios services had never been installed at my house before he had to run a cable going from my Verizon box all the way up to the main road. (About 800 feet of cable) I was told that someone would be out to bury the wire in 5 -7 business days. 3 weeks later no one had been out. So I called verizon to see when someone would come. I was told they will be there in the next 2 days. No one came. I called again and was told they would be there either Thursday or Monday. Once again no one showed up. So I called once more and the lady I spoke to said according to her system it shows that the wire had already been buried, yet clearly the wire was still running across my property ABOVE ground. Finally yesterday (after over a month) it got buried. Then I had to have another man come out and pick up the temporary wire. He was very rude. I gave him permission to drive to the back of my house but instead he opened a gate that I did not give him permission to open and then left it open when he left! Letting all the chickens out. I am very very disapointed in Verizon's services. It has been nothing but trouble with them. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community James !
Sorry to hear of the run around you got.
In regards to the warranty date, what happened is when Lenovo sells a shipment of computers to a retailer like Microsoft, Best Buy, Tiger Direct, etc, the warranty date starts on the date of the sale.  In order to compensate for the product sitting in the retailer's warehouse or on the shelf, Lenovo will generally add an additional month to the warranty period so a 12 month warranty is now 13.  In your situation the product sat longer than expected so in these cases Lenovo Support will adjust the warranty period from the date of your purchase once they receive a copy of your receipt.  Hopefully the supervisor will be able to straighten out the matter for you.

  • Verizon overcharging

My not for profit group has had a FIOS account for almost two years.  We were promised a monthly price of $99.99 for Fios internet & phone(2 lines).  This was the  promotion at the time. To date we have never received the proper billing.  Customer reps have gotten credits applied to past overpayments, and supposedly had the pricing corrected on multiple occasions.  I just received the June bill for $165.59 (with taxes).  We are also eligible to purchase through the NYS contract.I'm voting to go back to AT&T for the phones, our internet, and change our Verizon wireless account ($345.00/month) over to someone else.  This is nuts.  If anyone from Verizon would like to save their account they are welcome to contact me, but real soon.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this bad experience with Verizon I added a service (pacakge) in June around the 18th I did it online, yesterday I wanted to cancel the service (a package from the interantional packages available) I went online no way to do it. 1- I went on my profile pagewith all my services 2- Unchecked the service I want to remove got he confirmation pop up are your sure...3- Then no were to go, I chat online I was told just to check out and I will be able to remove the service, unfortunetly the check out works on verizon website if you add a service but does not work on removing a service.4- After 30 minutes chatting Iwas asked to contact customer service, it took me 15 mnutes t explain that I just need to remove the package from my services that I don't need anymore, she asked me for all my info then she said it's done it's removed.5- I checked my emails and I found a confirmation from verison that my service has changed which make sens except that:5-1 I was moved to another plan TV?Internet my speed was 150/150 and they moved me to 50/50 etc...I called Nice guy he apologized and said it was a problem in the system so they will just give me back my original plan basse of 179 dollars with my tv plan and internet speed etc...6- I recievd an email and I wa switched to my original speed but my plane was jumping from 179. base to 229.99 7- Called again new agent I was told I'm keeping changing my plan? when The only reason I called was to remove an international package that is sold separtely for 16.99 per month? after 30 minutes on the phone I asked to talk  to  a manager and explained the situation, He said he will work on it and get back to me the next day when I mentioned that i will spread this online he agreed to take care of it and email me a confirmation that I'm justetting my base price as it was before and that the extra service was removed.8- He emailed me I check the first part of the email that says I'm back to my base price of 179 dollars etc... I was Ok after 2 hours between the chat online / first cal to remove the package / second to get my speed back / 3 call to get my bill at the same level it use to be....That's a nice end? We not done yet. LATER I OPENED MY EMAIL AND WENT TO THE BUTOM WHERE IT SAYS MY NEXT BILL WILL BE 380 DOLLARS WHEN IT ISE TO BE 215 AFTER ALL TAXES AND FEES.... 9- i called again asked to talk to a manager - No way they all busy then the lady said she will try to help me explaining the bill.9-1 They charged 100 dollars for chaning my plan9-2 They also charged a one time fee of 33 dollars I'M CHANGING  MY PLAN ? WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO FIX A PROBLEM IN YOUR SYSTEM? TO BRING ME BACK TO MY PLAN?    10- She offered me a credit to compensate? $126.36 when the credit to bring back my next bill to 215 (my original bill) should have been $165.71. No email confiramtion about the credit of 126.36 dollars anyway until this morning here a copy of the first sentences Dear Valued Verizon Customer, As a result of your recent inquiry, we have issued a credit in the amount of $ 36.99 on your........ NO SERIOUS.... THIS IS BUSINESS? It's the first time I'm getting so disapointed with their customer service, not handlaing their probleme and glitch in their system. I have a copy of all the chat calls and emails I will contact FCC the BBB The departement of state and any other place you guys can suggest Thanks

  • Cannot send email from Verizon to a specific domain using the web UI

I'm trying to send an email to a specific address on a domain I own from a Verizon account using the web UI. Whenever I click send, a popup appears saying "Your e-mail contains the following invalid e-mail addresses:" followed by the email address. I can send email to this address from a GMail account as well as my work email.
In Chrome, I can see that a "code":1002 error is being produced.
Does anyone know why this would happen? Does Verizon check destination domains for reputation? Is there any way to debug this further?

  • Google Play on Tablet works on WIFI not Verizon network.

I have an Motorola Ellipsis Tablet. I am unable to use Google Player. When I open the app, I get "Background data disable. Google play store needs background data to be enabled." I hit enable and It asks me to choose either Facebook or Gmail. I choose my email account and it tries to sync and I get the message "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." Everything works fine when I am on WIFI at home but when I get to work and I'm on the Verizon network it won't work. I can't use Pandora or look at video. Can someone help me figure out why it is not working on the Verizon network? Thanks.

        Hi Mollie88,
Oh my! Let's get you back to enjoying your device. Some applications depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available. To uncheck Restrict background data in the Google Play application,  follow the directions in the link  http://vz.to/1f5KM7b .

  • Using CRM_UI on Verizon Galaxy Tablet

    All,
We are currently working on a pilot to deploy Verizon's Galaxy S tablet to our outside sales force.  As part of this deployment, we wanted to be able to log on to CRM_UI using the tablet.  We have found that 80% of the functionality works, but we have found screen rendering issues and drop down list issues.
I wanted to know if 1) does any one know of a CRM_UI compatible browser that can be used on tablet type devices?  and 2) if the solution as described above will work without deploying the complete CRM Mobile solution?
    Regards,
    Jose

Personally I have not tried CRM via the browser on the iPad.  In terms of browser compatibility your best bet is probably EHP1 for SAP CRM where I think SAP finally updated CRM for better IE8 and firefox support.
In terms of browser support, until SAP provides better support for firefox and perhaps even adds chrome to the browser list for CRM, I dont' think we are going to have much support on tablets for CRM when not using the mobile solutions delivered via native applications.
It might be worth looking at the OSS NOte 1430376 for more information on EHP1 support.
I'm going to SAPPHIRE next week and this will be a good question for me to ask about general browser support for SAP CRM in the longterm.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • How can I get Verizon to return my memory card- There screw up

After screaming about 1x a week with this new pre-paid SAMSUNG phone, I finally was able to get the store to take the phone and replace it.  Sadly, I was so frustrated with Verizon for my phone never working, and  getting the run around, that I was glad to get the "we will get you a new one".
Wasn't happy that they can't just give me a new one off the wall. (that would be 50 bucks please. (phone was 30 days old).
SO, The guy behind the counter advised me, I would get a new one.  Took battery, I asked if  things were backed up, and he said "yes", the backup synch was set up. "like OK".
So, removed battery and the lid, and the case I bought for it, took my old phone and said wait for new one. (came in today).
I didn't even think of getting my 8GB memory card from the old phone at the time I left the store.
This was 3 days ago (26th of Dec). Today, my new phone came in, it was not synching, not doing the backup right, and then I realized my memory card was not there.
Nicely called the help desk thinking I was calling the store where i returned the phone.  NOPE, got tech support in a different state after 14 minutes of listening to switch witch and running around with button pushing. Just to be told "contact the store diectly".
Headed to store, advised of what happened, and the cheerful guy with hte IPAD, typing your name, pretty much said " to bad".  It's goneft
No help. Just me trying to stay calm, after the head-aches with this phone.  And now I am out an 8GB memory card, that Verizon, in their haste, never took time to remove (but did the battery), and I forgot to remove it myself.
Now, I want Verizon to replace the memory card.  Their phone was bad, every week complained about this phone, and in 30 days, I now had to get it replaced.
I take error in not remembering to get it. BUT, figured the techs behind the scenes would have thought of this.
Anyone know of whom I can contact to ask VZN for a new card?  I lost some vital pics and info from my realtor, and have to bite that, but this wouldn't have  happened, if I could have gotten some satisfactory service, and I still ended up 3 days without a phone.

I admit, I did screw up for not checking. I was just soo steamed with the customer support and going back and forth with phone and offices in Charleston, SC and here in VA, I was just getting frustrated with this phone that i had for 1 week, and couple with the craziness of the hustle trafflc of customers during the holidays.
Just a lot of crazy here, but my new phone is in, I had to get the service center to  reset things, as the backup synch wasn't right, and I will get a new card.
I just wanted a new phone that worked, and oversaw the issues.  This isn't the first time I had to return a phone, but last time, it was a slower pace, and no issues, and I  reminded myself to get the card out.
Got 99% of my contacts. Just wishing there was somehow to track the phone, and have hope, but it was nothing that was life critical.. And cost of new cars is cheap.
Chalk up to "pay attention"....  but oh, the frustration of 6 visits to the stores in 32 days I had that phone.  Ahh!
Happy New Year, and thanks for the replies....

  • How long does it take for the warehouse to show a phone as recieved so I can pay my final bill?  I would like to sign up for Verizon again as I am very unsatisfied with my new company but cannot until this is resolved.

I recently switched to another competitor but would actually like to start from scratch with Verizon but cannot do so because they cannot locate my devices I mailed in to their warehouse.  I switched my whole family's accounts, 3 phones and 1 mobile hotspot, to a competitor to get a cheaper rate and unlimited data but I have not been happy with their service and would like to switch back.  The problem is when switching the first time I was told by a Verizon chat rep that I could send my Edge devices back in and would get credit for them and stop my edge payments which was not the way I know now it is supposed to work.  After a couple of phone calls a supervisor looked at my online chat transcript and realized that I was correct and the rep had told me incorrectly that they would take my edge phones back and give me credit for them and I could close my account by only paying the early termination fees.  She sent me two envelopes to send my two edge phones back in and said they would credit on my account and stop the monthly billing for them once they were received.  I called a couple of weeks ago after being charged 24.99 for the both of them again for the month after my account was stopped.  They said that they had not received my phones and I should have noted the tracking number from the labels the rep sent me so they could track them.  I tried to find the tracking numbers but couldn't so I got back on live chat and asked them to resend me the letter from the supervisor rep as well as resending the labels and he said they could that and it should be 7-10 business days.  It has now been over two weeks and I have not received the resent letter or labels so I cannot give them the tracking number to prove I sent my phones back to them.  I have also researched the facility I was asked to send these phones back to and it seems this is a pretty common Verizon trick of making you prove you sent the phones and not giving you any access to the tracking numbers.  I just want to pay my ETF's and close out my original account so I can start over fresh with Verizon but now I am losing faith in doing that as this is making me wonder if they are the type of company I want to deal with.  Please someone who may have dealt with this help me restore my faith in Verizon and give me an idea of what to do next.

How recently did you switch?  If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account.  The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices.  I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

  • Can I merge several different Verizon plans (different family members each have own plans) into one plan (i.e. can I take over all their lines), if all lines on all plans are on Edge?

I was originally told by Verizon that if I joined, I can eventually take over the lines of various family members.  Now that I've joined, and my family members all upgraded their phones and are on Edge, Verizon is telling us that we can't merge into one plan (because Edge lines can't be transferred to another account).
Is this true, and, if so, what is my recourse since I was lied to.

Well, yes and no (as far as being lied to).  I asked on several occasions (I have the chat transcripts to prove it) if there would be any issue if the lines were all already on Edge, and was told each time that under no circumstances would there be any issue.  The latest being today (I know it's after the fact, but I wanted proof that this is what the chat people are saying).  I asked "I have currently have an account with 3 phones on Edge.  My brother and his wife, and my parents, also have plans all on Edge.  I would like to 'take over' their lines.  I want to make sure there is no issue with the Edge plan and that I can simply 'take over' their lines with no problems."  I was told "Yes. That would be correct."  Again, this is what I was told in the past as well (my original post didn't make clear the timing of the chats and upgrades to Edge..).  Every time I chatted I mentioned that the accounts were going to be on Edge or (later on) were already on Edge.  Even before my family members upgraded to Edge, not one single chat or phone representative (and my brother asked the same thing in a store) mentioned NOT to upgrade to Edge because it couldn't be transferred.  Everyone just said yep, no problem.  The ONLY reason I even joined Verizon (I was on Straight Talk) was because of the More Everything and Edge plans (we wanted a family plan with 6 people and over 10GB so we'd each save $25/line).  Otherwise I never would have joined Verizon and my family wouldn't have upgraded either.

  • Why do I have mysterious cellular data usage (Verizon) every 6 hours on all 3 of my iphone 5's?

I have recently uncovered mysterious cellular usage on three different iPhones. I am a Verizon customer and discovered this by examining the cellular data use logs. What I found are a long series of mysterious data usage logs. I have visited the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store 3 times now to log notes and discuss the issue. It is being escalated.
    The characterstics are as follows:
All my family phones have the appropriate IOS and hardware updates (verified by the GeniusBar at my local Apple Store).
This is occuring across three phones, which happen to all be iphone 5. Two are 5 and the other a new 5s. We do have one iphone 4 in the family but the issue (so far as I can tell), is not happening on it.
One iphone 5 has IOS 7, the other IOS 6. The new 5s has of course IOS 7.
Mysterious data use happens even while connected to wifi.
Each mysterious data use log entry is exactly 6 hours apart. For example: 2:18 AM, 8:18 AM, 2:18 PM, 8:18 PM, 2:18 AM ... etc. It cycles AM and PM, same times, for a day to many days until some condition causes it to change (evolve).
The times evolve. One day it could be cycling through at one time series, then it changes to another time sequence and continues until the next condition.
The data usage is anywhere from a few K to many MB. The largest I've seen is over 100 MB.
The logs clearly show these usages are not due to human interaction. It is a program.
If cellular connection is used frequently (by the owner), the pattern is hard to pick out. Luckily, my family member is very good about only using wifi whenever possible, so these mysterious use patterns are easy to pick out.
Verizon allows access to 90 days worth of data logs, so I downloaded and analyzed them. This has been happening for at least 90 days. I have found 298 instances of mysterious use out of 500 total connections to cellular. A total of 3.5 GB of mysterious cellular data has been recorded as used in that 90 days by this phone alone. Only .6 GB of the total cellular data use is legitimate, meaning by the person.
This issue is occuring across three different phones. Two are iPhone 5, and the third is a recently purchased iPhone 5s. The 5s I have not touched beyone the basic startup. I have left it alone on a desk for 3 days, and looking at the logs, the mysterious data use in the same pattern is occuring.
So ... I am speaking to both sides, Verizon and Apple to get answers. Verizon puts their wall up at data usage. It doesn't matter how it is being used, you simply need to pay for it. Yes, the evidence I have gathered is getting closer to someting on Verizon's end.
Before pressing in that direction, I am hoping someone reading this may recognize this issue as a possible iPhone 5 issue ... OR ... you, right now, go look at your data usage logs available through your carrier's web account, and see if you can pick out a pattern of mysterious use. Look especially at the early morning instances when you are most likely sleeping.
I am hoping this is a simple issue that has a quick resolution. I'm looking for the "ooohhh, I see that now ..." But I am starting to think this might be much bigger, but the fact is, most customers rarely or never look at their data usage details, much less discover mysterious use patterns.
The final interesting (maybe frightening part) thing about all this is that I discovered while talking to Verizon ... they do not divulge which direction the data is going. This goes for any use, mysterious or legitimate. Is cellular data coming to your phone, or leaving it? Is something pulling data from your phone? We know that it is possible to build malware apps, but the catch with my issue is that it is also happening on a brand new iphone 5s with nothing downloaded to it.
    Thanks for your time

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • How can I use Messages app on non-Verizon phone?

Hi. I have two phones: A VZW personal phone and a T-Mobile phone from my employer. I wish to carry only one device when I'm at work (my T-Mobile work phone) but I wish to be able to get texts from my personal VZW number on that phone. I know I can't forward texts, so I installed the Verizon Messages Android app on my work phone, but I can't set it up with my VZW number (I figured it should work because I was able set it up on my tablet at home and it works fine there).
After I install the app on the non-Verizon phone, I open it and I get a screen asking me if I want to use the app for my default messaging app. If I click no, the app closes without giving me a chance to set it up with my personal account like it did when I installed it on my tablet.
I also noticed after I installed it, it's called Messages+ instead of Messages. Are they the same thing?

Hi, has this been resolved? I am in a very similar situation and need the app to work on my new Sprint LG G3 exactly the way it operated on my Sprint iPhone 5S. Here is how it worked on my Sprint iPhone: downloaded the VZ Messages app, followed the prompts to tie it into my work Verizon Galaxy S5 number, and started to receive texts sent to my S5 on my iPhone but in the separate VZ Messages app and not in the native iPhone messages app.
But when I install the VZ Messages app on my Sprint LG G3, it only asks if I want to "Change default message app? Use Message+ instead of Messaging as your default message application?" That is not what I want so I tap "Cancel" and the app closes. I am not prompted with the opportunity to tie it to my Verizon S5 number like I was on the iPhone. The ability to have the VZ Messages app on my Sprint LG G3 along side the native G3 messaging app, the exact same way it worked on my Sprint iPhone, is very important and the whole reason I switched from AT&T to Verizon for my work phone.

  • Is there any way to contact verizon with a detailed cell phone technical support question?

Is there any way to contact Verizon with a detailed cell phone technical support question?  I prefer e-mail so as to provide details (like I am trying to provide here).  I have tried in-store personnel (no help at all) and the web chat - they just want to see me more data instead of helping me with my basic problem!
I CAN NOT GET ANYONE FROM VERIZON TO GIVE ME ANY HELP NOR CAN I FIND A WAY TO FILE A COMPLAINT.  AT THIS POINT I JUST WANT TO DROP MY VERIZON ACCOUNT BUT I'M SURE THAT IT WILL COST ME A SMALL FORTUNE TO GET OUT OF IT.

8:31 PM: 75% of data allowance used (txt msg)
8:58 PM: 90% of data allowance used (txt msg)
9:13 PM: 100% of data allowance used (txt msg)
10:05 PM: Got the text messages and immediately put the phone into airplane mode
    10:30 PM: Took screenshots
10:45 PM: Enabled wifi, installed Kaspersky premium. Scan returned no threats.
11:00 PM: Left phone in airplane mode, went to sleep.
    The questions:
What was the root cause of this issue? Did Reddit News freak out as a result of an esoteric bug or was my phone hacked?
If this was a simple Reddit News bug, then why was the Android OS also trying to use such a massive amount of background data?
What the hell are these unnamed numeric applications? I've inspected my process history and this is the first time they have ever attempted to use data.
I'm pretty sure that I can explain this situation to Verizon and get out of having to pay additional data usage fees, but I would like to know more about the problem before I get in touch with them.

All I can think is your phone may have background downloaded an OTA update, and you'd then be prompted with something like, "As update to your Android system has been downloaded, would you like to install it now?"
I do find it very odd that the update would be 2.6GB. As a rough base, the CyanogenMod 10.1 firmware for your device is well under 200MB, so unless Verizon has a ****-ton of bloatware in the update, or it had to attempt to download multiple times for some reason, it may be a stretch.
But doing a little homework, it looks like the Verizon Razr Maxx was updated to 4.1 in late March. Maybe they're still rolling it out in waves? Have you gotten the update yet?
Edit: Aaaand I just noticed you appear to be running an AOSP-based ROM, which totally rules out a carrier update being sent out.
Edit2: If you want to live dangerously, you could try running:
    #kill -9 12289
That 12289 is the PID listed in your screenshot. But don't run that without fulling understanding the kill command.
The ps command could also be of use, but probably not.

I can confirm that the phone is currently at 4.1.2 and that I wasn't prompted for an OTA update. The fact that both the Android OS and Reddit News processes were simultaneously using an extremely large amount of data is unlikely to be a coincidence...

That is very curious that the spikes happened at the same time.I'm curious. It may have put at least some of that 2.6GB somewhere. You could use a data visualizer tool to see if you can find it, which may lead to more clues.

    The largest directories are:
DCIM: Normal looking photos (90,825 KB)
Android: Primarily map cache data (64,846 KB)
If it was downloading content then it did not significantly save content to storage. It's not like I have anything particularly sensitive on the phone, but the idea that it was uploading a snapshot of my data definitely makes me uncomfortable.

Yup, Digital Camera IMages and videos.Somewhere in /sdcard/Android would be my guess as to where a mysterious file would be downloaded, but if it's only 64MB, and mostly map data, I'd safely rule it out.I'm sorry, but I'm stumped here.Edit: I should mention I don't think this is malware, because unless a malicious app gained superuser access, any data it used would show under it's own apk in the data usage list, not Android OS.

Was it trying to auto-upload pictures or video to G+?I ******* hate that.

Although I'm not really up to speed with the Android platform, I come from a UNIX background so I feel comfortable running commands. How do I pull up a bash terminal? Do I need to root the phone first?

There's a number of terminal emulators in the Play Store that work well. You don't need a rooted phone to get to the shell as your user, but any privileged command won't execute unless you can grant it permission from the Superuser app that is installed when you root the device. So you could probably do a ps -e, but not a kill -9.

Got it. I downloaded a terminal emulator but unfortunately those processes no longer exist.Does Android keep a generic log of system level events like /var/log/syslog?

I don't think so, and I know you'd need superuser permission to read most of the files in /var/log anyway. I'm not super familiar with how Android does its logging, but I do know that the two files of interest are the logcat and dmesg.

Want to mention here that using your settings to set your data cap (set it on your billing day), then you won't go over again. Those text messages are really unhelpful, as they send out well after the data has been used. Chances are good you hit close to the 2GB mark before you received the bulk of the messages.

That's definitely not the case here; both my PC and and Android phone are free from pirated apps.

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • How do I use a Verizon PC Wireless card with my iMAC Intel Core desktop?

Help! Bought a Kyocera KPC650 Wireless PC Card for Verizon wireless internet. Works fine w/ laptop because it has a slot. How do I configure my iMAC desktop to accept this card? Is there an external USB adapter? Or do I have to get one installed internally? Which adapter works with OX 10.4?
I've seen the Quatech U132 online. Will that work? Its $192!! As is the Sewell adapter too. ($209)
Any ideas? I want to get off SBCYahoo DSL and their router because our DSL line is damaged in our complex and no one is fixing it!

What protocol is Verizon using that is not compatible with the Airport Extreme built into your iMac? I have used Apple's Airport Extreme with a lot of different wireless routers with zero problems as all conform to either 802.11b or 802.11g standard both of which are supported by the built in Airport Extreme.

  • Move Verizon E-mail address from one account to another

I am wondering if it is possible to move an email address from one account to another. I am the primary account holder for a couple of email addresses - one of which is my mother-in-law. I am discontinuing my Verizon account but she has since started a Verizon FIOS account at her house. I'd like to move her email address to her account so the switch for her is painless (or as painless as possible). Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Yes and No. As of right now they will not move email address unless the name on both accounts match exactly.
