Disappearing artists

I have a problem with disappearing files when I browse by artist in my ipod. These file are avaible when browsing by album though, then they appear as normal (meaning with full details; artist name, song title etc). Does anyone know what's wrong????? Dont know how long I can stand this, it so annoying. Thanks for any tips.

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

  • Disappeared artists...

Hi - Has anyone any ideas why some artists albums / lists have disappeared from the Spotify database, for example I had previously downloaded some Prince and Neil Young albums, but they are now nowhere to be found on the databases. grahamefox

I had two favorite Neil Young songs checked so in my list of songs, Birds and Thrasher. I have been playing them for a year. Last week one greyed out, now the other one. The list of Neil Young albums has greatly reduced. I wonder if this is Apple Music at work ???

  • Under music my artists tab disappeared but still have albums, songs etc how to get artists tab back?

Under music the artists tab disappeared but still have albums, songs etc.
how to  get artists tab back?

    Hi Gary gar,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the options at the bottom of the Music application may have been edited. You can click the More section on the far right, then choose Edit in the top right. You can then drag any options you want to that bottom bar and rearrange them.
    Browse and play - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph3cf21a82
Tired of tapping More? To rearrange the buttons, tap More, then tap Edit and drag a button onto the one you want to replace.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

Artistic filters have disappeared from my CS2.  Can you help me retreive them?   Thank you!

    Have you deleted your prefs?
    From the Photoshop help files:
Restore all preferences to default settings
    Do one of the following:
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings.
(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.
New Preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
If that does not work reinstall.

  • When adjusting names/artists,etc. = mouse disappears behind iTunes10 window

Now that I have iTunes 10, I have discovered that when I rename songs, artists, albums, genres, etc. that the mouse will disappear behind the iTunes window. This required that I move the mouse to the edge of the screen just to see it again, which can't be right, can it? Yeah, so if anyone else is having this problem hopefully it will get fixed in the next update.

Yeah, I have the same problem. Happens a lot. I usually just hit Alt and Tab twice real quick (to switch between my last used program and iTunes), and this makes the mouse cursor pop back up. Pretty dirty workaround, but it works.

  • I made the 7.1 update and the artist illustration disappear on music app. How can I do to make them going back?, I made the 7.1 update and the artist illustration disappear on music app. How can I do to make them going back?

Recently the music app give a photo for each artist you have on your iPhone. I made the update 7.1 and now I just have the album cover like before and the artist's photographies are gone. Anyone have an idea to get it back?
    Thank you

Check the General -> Restrictions settings and see if perhaps the iTunes app is turned off there. If not, the app may have been inadvertently moved to another home screen or dropped into a folder. Do a search for the app or try resetting the Home screen layout: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Home Screen Layout.
    Regards.

  • Artist music disappears

I have recently found two artists in my iTunes library whose music is no longer in my library, but is still on my hard drive. Does anyone know why or how this music has gotten deleted from my library? I am the only one who uses this computer and I am sure that I didn't accidentally delete it from my library. Has anyone had this happen to them? How can I fix it? I am now wondering how many other artist's music have been deleted from my library.

iTunes menu View > Column browser > Show colum browser.
Select the Artist(s) and or Album(s) you want.

  • All the music from an artist has disappeared except for one song.

This has happened more than once. my connection is fine, I can not think of anything that I could be doing wrong to cause this.

Hello: If you go here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bionic_%28Christina_Aguilera_album%29 and look at the bonus track information, you might notice what track #24 is? Speciality bonus tracks for iTunes, Amazon.com, Target, Bestbuy, Walmart, and K-mart stores are speciality tracks exclusive to those retail chains. Sometimes artists get the OK to release these tracks all in one go just like with any other release, but most often artists are paid extra by these business outlets to release exclusive bonus track content to these retails store chains only. Really sucks having to buy 5 different releases to get all the extra bonus content released by some artists, but they do it anyway. The artist Smashing Pumpkins ran into some heat over doing this kind of thing with their Zeitgeist release a few years back if you do a look up on that release, there are like 10 extra bonus tracks from the original recording sessions released as exclusive tracks to other outlets and other speciality E.P. releases. It is what it is, I would love for retail outlets to not have this kind of control over artist release output but they do sadly.  " Money, get back
I'm all right, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, it's a hitDon't give me that do goody good bullsh!t
I'm in the hi-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet" As written and sung by Rodger Waters of Pink Floyd fame.

  • Title & Artist disappeared

Hey all. Posting this for my sister, who isn't quite the computer master. Apparently about half her songs have lost the artist and title. I'm not sure if this happened on it's own or when she upgraded to 7.2. But I figured I'd throw this out there in case anyone has had a similar issue. Not sure if making her rebuild the library would get the information back. I'm on a mac, where it's easy to drag a song out of itunes and drag it back in to try to reset it, but apparently that doesn't work on a PC.
Anyone else experience similar? Thoughts on what I could ask her to try?
    thanks
    - J

No resolution... She just re-entered everything by hand, but the problem never happened again.

  • Disappearing Songs and Artists

I recently restored my computer to factory settings (a few weeks ago, I guess) and had no problems adding my music back in using my external hard drive. Things were fine. Today I opened up iTunes and noticed that some songs I had added in recently were missing. I thought it was weird, so I just added them back in normally. Upon further inspection, a lot of my songs were missing. They were just totally missing, there wasn't the usual little ! and the title of the song and stuff that's usually there if a songs moved / iTunes can't find it. So I tried adding them back...but nothing happened. I tried every way I could think of and nothing was added back in.
It seems like any artist that has more than a few songs has been mostly taken out. Take Coldplay for instance, I own every one of their CD's plus a bunch of live stuff and it's all supposed to be in there...yet only one song shows up. With Weezer, only about four show up - and I own all of their stuff too!
How do I fix this? I want my music back!

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.

You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.

  • The artists in music library has disappeared

After updating my iPhone 4 last time to iOS 5.1.1, I discovered that almost all my artists were missing from the artist menu, and the very few who were left, had almost no songs attached. The funny thing is, that all the songs HAS been transfered to the iPhone, because the other menues work just fine with all albums, songs groups and genres. It's been annoying me for months now, and I've tried updating the software again to iOS 6, restart it, restore it and I've even changed my computer since, to another apple model, and yet, nothing changes.
Have anyone else experienced the same problem? I would really love som help!
    Best regards Emma, Denmark

Try syncing all the music off your phone (by unchecking Sync Music on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing), then sync it back on.

  • Bad bug with ID3 tags of different case for same artist

My itunes files and music library are on a different drive than my boot drive. It is an internal drive (always on) in my Mac Pro at /Volumes/Media1/iTunes with music library at /Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music. iTunes is setup to automatically keep it organized and copy files to the media folder when adding. It has been this way for years, never a problem.
Just recently, and I think this may have coincided (but I'm not sure) with a 10.6.5 Snow Leopard update, my music started disappearing! The entries were still in the library, but with the missing exclamation mark in itunes with it reporting that it couldn't find the files. But only certain artists. After searching my computer, I found the missing files it at the same path, but on my boot drive, at /Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music/<missing artist>!
Trying to add these files back to my library would work briefly, but then they would magically disappear out of /Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music and go back to /Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music/
I figured out the one thing the different artists that had this behavior had in common - some of the ID3 tags for the same artist, which are the basis for organization, were in different cases. I think there is a weird case sensitivity bug that is breaking things. When I add back only those songs for an artist with ID3 tags for the artist of the same case, the behaviour stops.
I'm posting less looking for an answer and more to raise visibility and hope this gets a fix.
Example entries from my iTunes Library.xml, notice how the 'k' in OutKast is a different case in the entries.
    <key>Artist</key><string>OutKast</string>
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/OutKast/Speakerboxxx,%20Th e%20Love%20Below%20(Disc%202)/13%20Pink%20&%20Blue.mp3</string>
    <key>Artist</key><string>Outkast</string>
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/Outkast/Aquemini/12%20Spot tieOttieDopaliscious.mp3</string>

I'd like to note that I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I'd add to this but petegas4life has it spot on. I'm just replying in hopes this thread gets noticed so the engineers at apple can look into this and hopefully fix it in the next release.
Reproducing the problem is pretty simple too. Just take one song from an album and change the case of the artist name. You'll see the music move to the boot drive and all of the songs from that artist won't work in itunes anymore. And if you're relying on iTunes to edit the tags, fixing the files is a PAIN because they keep disappearing on you.

  • Awesome WM text pointer disappears on tag switch

    Hi,
I have the following problem. On one tag I keep Atom with some file open. If I use the mouse to click on some other tag and go back to Atom everything is ok. If I use modkey+<num> to switch to another tag and back while the mouse is over the task bar or over the widgets everything is ok. But when I switch the tag again with the keyboard shortcut and go back to Atom while the mouse is somewhere over the clients the text pointer in Atom disappears and I need to click somewhere in the text to make it reappear. And it's really annoying when coding to reach for the mouse every time you change to some other tag and back.

This is weird behavior that I don't experience with Awesome and Atom. Does this happen only with Atom, or with anything? One aspect of your rc.lua that might cause something like this is the sloppy focusing, this bit here:
    -- Enable sloppy focus
    c:connect_signal("mouse::enter", function(c)
    if awful.layout.get(c.screen) ~= awful.layout.suit.magnifier
    and awful.client.focus.filter(c) then
    client.focus = c
    end
    end)
Try disabling that, by commenting it out entirely, and see if the problem persists.
If it only happens with Atom, then maybe Atom conflicts for some reason with this sloppy focusing.

  • When I want to add an album onto my iphone using itunes, I am successful in  putting one album on my phone but when I want to add another album it deletes the first album I put on my phone. How can I add more albums without some albums disappearing?

I am having a problem with importing cds onto my iPhone. I have successfully added a playlist or album to my phone but when I want to add another album/artist, the first album that was on there has all of a sudden disappeared. Its like I can only have one album on my phone. This is my first time dealing with anything Apple because I have been using android phones. Any help would be appreciated as I don't fully understand iTunes.

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll.  If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo.  This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).

  • About a month ago, most of the Album art on my iPod just up and disappeared.

So, about a month ago, for no apparent reason at all, almost all of the album art on all of the music on my iPod just disappeared and was replaced by the default white art. It even happened to most of my purchased music! As time passed, some of it gradually re-appeared, which is really weird, but most of it is still gone. I have 174 albums on my ipod and about only 1/4 of them have art. Before this problem happened, almost every single album had art. I meticulously spend HOURS adding really nice album art to the music on my iPod, and then this happens.
I'm genuinely quite upset. I use my iPod a LOT and have put a lot of money into Apple. A problem like this should not be happening. I'm actually very tech-savvy (going to be getting a CS degree) but this problem baffles me at every turn and it's extremely frustrating.
So, last night, I tried to fix the problem again. I made an album in my music folder and added the proper information to each song, with an album cover (500X500 - all of my album art is 500X500) in the folder where the songs reside. I then plug my iPod in and open iTunes. I then go into file and add the album to my iTunes library, and then I go to the songs and add the album cover to their information via the "add artwork" submenu of the get info on the songs. I then sync the songs to my iPod normally, and the album art shows up on them. Great. Wonderful.
I then think, "Oh, maybe I can fix all of my OTHER album art manually!".
So I go to my artists on my iPod and find an album titled Asteroid (it's a song by Rameses B) which doesn't have a cover but should. I deleted it off of my iPod. I then plugged my iPod back into my computer and tried to re-sync the song Asteroid back onto my iPod but nothing happened. It WOULD NOT, and I mean WOULD NOT sync that **** song to my iPod. It just sat there like I never did anything at all. My method of syncing is that I find the song and drag-drop it to the iPod menu on the right side of my screen.
So then I kind of gave up for the night. It was midnight and I was done with this **** after trying to get that song to sync for at least 20 minutes.
So I eject the iPod from my computer (SAFELY) and close iTunes normally, bla bla bla, go to sleep.
I get up this morning and go to my music app and ALL OF MY ALBUM ART ON EVERYTHING IS GONE. *POOF*, gone. Including the songs that I'd synced last night! What the ****! How does that even happen?!
    Some more information:
I'm running Windows 7 with a fully updated iTunes. My iPod is fully updated as well. As in iOS 7.1.0, non-Beta. It's an iPod touch 5th generation.
So, my question is, how the heck do I get my album art back on my darn iPod?! I have tried manually re-syncing individual songs after deleting them off of my iPod and they won't re-sync. I have also tried re-syncing my entire music library to my iPod, and the result was the same as before. Most of the album art didn't transfer to the iPod.
I'm extremely frustrated at this point. I'm at the very verge of jailbreaking this thing and iFunbox-ing all of my album art over to it forcefully. If Apple can't fix my problem, I will. I'm at that point right now.
    Please help.
