Disappearing Bluetooth Solution

I too had a problem with the Bluetooth icon disappearing from System Preferences on my G5 iMac.
I tried deleting the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file and zapping the PRAM - both multiple times - with no success.
Logging into another user brought the BT icon back. So I copied the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from the other User Library into my User Library, rebooted, and all was resolved.
Note: While doing this, I noticed that the the OS had failed to rewrite the prefs file after previous deletions. The com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file was entirely MISSING from my User Library, so adding it back from a known good source was the obvious fix.

Hello ichikoo:
Check to see if the Bluetooth module was accidentally turned off. Also, disconnect all USB devices, shut down, and then start up again. Sometimes older USB devices cause problems with BT modules.
If the BT software is completely gone, you can selectively reinstall it from your software installation DVD.

  • Leopard fixes disappearing bluetooth!

I'm extremely happy that Leopard has (at least for me) fixed the disappearing Bluetooth problem. I'm most happy because I had purchased a new bluetooth keyboard from Apple and I could not use it for longer than five minutes before bluetooth would disappear. BTW, this keyboard is great.
    Cheers,

  • Bluetooth solution for broken headphone jack?

Here's my dilemma - when I plug headphones into my iBook G4 (OS 10.4.11) music/sound only comes out of one speaker (into 1 side of headphone). I've tried other headphones & cleaning the plug a bit and that didn't work. I can simply just listen to my iPod but at times I do like to watch a DVD w/headphones (i.e.. airplane). I was wondering if there was a workaround for this with bluetooth stereo headphones. I do have bluetooth on my iBook and it pairs well with a mouse, my Treo, etc. I found mention of Jabra BT3030 and am wondering if this would be a viable option for me? Will this simply pair w/my iBook and allow me to listen to iTunes out of my regular headphones (seems the Jabra has a dog tag style bluetooth receiver that allows you to plug any phones into it). Just wondering if this would work?!
    Thanks for any advice!

I think you need to upgrade your OS first. The new version of OS supported A2DP. I have it working with my logitech bluetooth headphone. It sounds pretty much the same as other wired headphone; but it is not very comfortable to me (I have big head ).
    good luck.

  • The Mystery of The Disappearing Bluetooth

Not a huge concern as I just read a posting on how to fix this isue, however I am curious to find out the cause of this problem and not just a fix.
The Bluetooth on my PB has dissapeared 2 times. Wavy live through the icon in the menu and no indication of a Pref Pane in Sys Prefs. Not sure how it was fixed the first time- this time the fix was done by shutting down and removing the battery.
Any of you pros have any idea why this happens?
Looking for the Zen/ Eastern way of looking at this problem and not simply the Western - "Just give it some pills and make it feel better" technique.

Oh, I wish I knew where the post was that told me about the 'battery trick'.
Whereever that post is-go find it if you have this same problem.
    Sorry if that's non help.
    Cheers.

  • OS 6.1 Still No Bluetooth Solution ???????????

YES AND YES I AM SHOUTING!!! When will Apple roll back the functionality of the bluetooth to pre OS 6?
    2 x 3GS 1x 4GS  1x 16GB ipad and none of them see each other any more !!!
Personal hotspot used to be flawless and allowed share internet usage over all devices now inop.
Internet WiFi connection is also Flaky on Netgear Router post OS 6 despite being rock solid before!!.
Please pay attention APPLE you are FORCING people to jailbreak their kit to allow os rollbacks!!!.
This does not bode well with the majority of apple users who always used to enjoy the stability of apple products..!!!
    SORT IT NOW!!!

    Oh get over yourself.
No one here works for Apple, we're all users like yourself.
You could always stop your griping and try basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide.  Granted that would make logical sense and is highly unlikely that you would bother doing so.

  • Bluetooth not working on HP Pavilion 17 notebook PC (Win 8.1)

This might sound repeated but I really gave up. The bluetooth is simpley not working. I downloaded the driver from HP website and from the bluetooth vendor (Ralink). The problem started suddenly when the bluetooth icon disappeared from the system tray. Then, in device manager it shows up Bluetooth only when you select show hidden devices. Then, I uninstall the bluetooth from device manager and restart, install all downloaded files from HP driver support website which I later discovered that I should stick only to the Ralink (Mediatek) becuase I realized that the bluetooth vendor is the same as the wireless vendor. These procedures was not successful (I mean does not correct the disappeared bluetooth icon from the system tray). Finally, I downloaded the driver for bluetooth from Ralink website (which by the way was tricky and not straightforward). What happened now, is viola, the bluetooth icon came up nicely. Between all of these, there was restart, shut down, wait, open again. Anyway, the bluetooth icon is there but it is simply not functional. I checked the device manager, no yellow marks on bluetooth and also the bluetooth appear in device manger without selecting show hidden devices. I also tried services.msc and auto selection. The net result now is that bluetooth is not functional. It does not identify any device. I checked these devices on another computer and it was OK and works smoothly. It is really annoyeing. I think to purchase a bluetooth stick to solve it but I tried an old bluetooth stick and it was NOT working again (I mean it is identified but not functional to find any bluetooth device). Is there any kind of solution to this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
After this you may or may not need to delete and reload the Audio driver for your notebook.
    Regards,

  • Firefox 3.6.12 won't open under WinXP. Have uninstalled/reinstalled several times. When I start the program (including safe mode) I see a Firefox process appear for about 3 seconds, then disappear. Run full scan with Norton with no malware discovered.

I've used Firefox for years with no problems. I've not installed any new extensions or programs between the time it worked great and when the problem began.
I click to start FF (shortcut, directly on program file, etc.) and I get an hourglass for a couple of seconds like it's starting, then nada. As mentioned, I see FF show up as a process in Task Manager for about 3 seconds, then disappear.
Solutions I've tried include: Uninstall/reinstall on the same drive and a separate drive, registry cleanup/optimization w/Norton Utilities, full scan for malware/viruses with Norton, stopping some autostartup programs that were installed and in use while FF was running fine.

  • New Version 4.0 Bluetooth Software (SP2)

Found the following news.  As stated it works under SP2 as well.  Will owners of the Btoes Dongle be getting this update?  Maybie a mod, admin or someone from MSI can answer this.

Broadcom® Upgrades Market Leading WIDCOMM® Bluetooth® Software With Enhanced Security, CD-Like Wireless Stereo Sound and New Profiles
New Release of Industry's Most Widely Deployed Bluetooth Software Also Features Support for Microsoft® Windows XP®-SP2
IRVINE, Calif., Nov 1, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a leading provider of highly integrated semiconductor solutions enabling broadband communications, today announced WIDCOMM® BTW 4.0, the new release of its popular Bluetooth® software, enhancing security and adding advanced audio/video (A/V) capabilities to the industry's most widely adopted Bluetooth software. The new software was tailored and optimized for seamless integration with Broadcom® single-chip Bluetooth solutions and enhanced with important security upgrades for enterprise and small office customers. It was also tested and qualified for native support and seamless operation with Microsoft's recently announced Service Pack 2 upgrade for the Windows XP® operating system (Windows XP-SP2).
Wireless, high quality stereo audio headsets and speakers enabled by the new WIDCOMM BTW (Bluetooth for Windows) 4.0 software is an exciting new application expected to drive widespread Bluetooth adoption for consumers over the coming years. A/V enhancements built into BTW 4.0 software will bring a new level of audio quality to wireless headsets, enabling a generation of products capable of delivering CD-like stereo sound without the need for wires. The same A/V Bluetooth profile support can be expected to appear in upcoming consumer electronics products like MP3 players, cellular phones, PDAs, and other appliances.
"BTW 4.0 answers two distinct needs in the Bluetooth space: enhanced security, and the ability to effectively stream high-quality audio to wireless headphones or speakers. It is changing the dynamics of how consumers will experience multimedia content on their PCs," said Ron Wong, Senior Product Line Manager for Broadcom's Bluetooth software products. "Broadcom's unique ability to design and deliver all the critical technology pieces for next-generation wireless electronic devices enables our partners to bring products to market quickly and with features that hold great appeal for consumer markets."
    BTW 4.0 Enhances Security
Bluetooth has established itself as the clear wireless PAN (Personal Area Network) technology of choice in large corporations as well as small and home office environments. Leading PC OEMs are already shipping Bluetooth in a large number of their commercial notebook PCs and are expecting continuous growth and accelerated adoption into 2005. With this rapid adoption, large enterprises have expressed growing concerns over security and software virus spreads. The new WIDCOMM BTW4.0 software incorporates enhanced security capability to help address these concerns. Broadcom implemented unique software functionality and tested it to ensure a higher level of security, to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers and bolster the software against malicious attacks.
    New Software Transforms A/V
PC OEMs have come to appreciate the flexibility of embedding Bluetooth into their desktop and notebook computers to connect wirelessly with mobile phones and PDAs. Wireless mice and keyboards are taking advantage of the technology as well, offering valuable freedom and convenience to consumers. These same advantages are now enabled for stereo headsets and speakers with Broadcom's new BTW 4.0 software. Wireless headsets or speakers enabled with Broadcom Bluetooth technology can stream high quality sound while also performing remote control functions such as pausing or stopping play, and selecting tracks. In addition, consumers can place wireless speakers in all corners of the room, enabling enhanced sound and audio distribution for DVD and CD playback.
    New Features and Profiles
Broadcom's WIDCOMM BTW 4.0 incorporates the latest software "profiles," which ensure a common set of features between two Bluetooth devices. Bluetooth profiles are developed and standardized through the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). BTW 4.0 features many of the latest profiles, which provide advanced multimedia capabilities including:
         *  GAVDP -- Generic Audio Video Distribution Profile
         *  A2DP -- Advanced Audio Distribution Profile
         *  AVRCP -- Audio Video Remote Control Profile
BTW 4.0 also supports the Basic Imaging Profile, which provides the ability to "push" and "pull" images wirelessly between a mobile phone or digital camera and a PC. In addition, the new software release was designed to work seamlessly with Broadcom's BCM2035 and BCM2045 single-chip Bluetooth solutions. It was tested and qualified to work seamlessly with Microsoft's latest operating system update, Windows XP-SP2, thereby ensuring forward compatibility to PC OEMs and end-users as they upgrade to this latest operating system.
End users can be assured that as increasingly advanced Bluetooth A/V applications gain adoption, Broadcom's BTW software will enable a richer and more secure user experience.
    Availability
Broadcom's WIDCOMM BTW 4.0 software is currently shipping to Broadcom's early access partners.

  • How to get and install the new MSI Bluetooth Software Package 1.4.3.3.

How to get and install the new MSI Bluetooth Software Package 1.4.3.3.
This little FAQ will only cover the new version of MSI Bluetooth Software Package.
First thing too do is unistall any older version of the MSI Bluetooth Software.
Do this through the Add/Remove program applet in your control panel.
There seams too be only through Live update you could get the new version of MSI Bluetooth Software Package.
If you can't see any enter for MSI Bluetooth Software in the Live driver section of Live update then you have too enter the following too your registry.
Create following code in Notepad and save it as MSILD.reg, then run the file.
    ;-->Code start
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MSI\Drivers\MSI Bluetooth Software]
    "DrvSetup"="1"
    "Version"="1.4.2.10"
    ;-->Code end
Rerun the Live update and hopefully you will now see a entry for MSI Bluetooth Software in Live driver section.
Install the new version of MSI Bluetooth Software and reboot your computer. Even if the setup program doesnt told you too doit.
After rebooting the computer you will see the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar. If it's Red then try too start the Bluetooth services by right click on the try icon and the only alternetiv there is.
If the Bluetooth services is asking for a valid licens.dat then you should do the following.
Surf to Jon's Bluetooth guide http://www.jonsguides.com./bluetooth/prepare.html and download the patcher from the link there.
Unzip the the patcher and then run the BTWPatcher.exe program.
Now the Bluetooth services will start and you will bee able too configure your own settings for the Bluetooth services.
If nothing of this work you could try the complete Bluetooth solution at Jon's gudie and install the IBM version of the same program. I havent test this solution and will not do soo.

I have the MS-6968 device and i want to use driver 1.4.x or 3.0.x. I found the driver 1.4.2.10 but i cannot find any WIDCOMMSecurity code.
So, can anyone give me a link for BTWPatcher.exe???
It cannot be found here (Jon's Bluetooth ) anymore.
    Thanks

    Hello everyone...
Time to open a new thread... Seems there is a serious bug going on since a while with 10.6 randomly, hit me saturday. After working late switched off my iMac and next morning all my user accounts were gone, not able to login with my account... instead I got a "other" account.
Took me a day to get that fixed. Thanks Apple!

This one has a interesting solution from user Illude
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2644133&tstart=0
    This one's from cNet:
    http://forums.cnet.com/7723-6126_102-505918.html
There are quite some possible solutions (from threads) that seem to help, here are some of the popular ones:
    SOLUTION 1:
1 - boot up using your SL disk.
    2 - select 'change password'
3 - reset the root password
4 - restart the mac from the system drive
5 - log in as root
    6 - open system preferences
7 - create an account with the SAME FULL NAME and ACCOUNT NAME as your 'lost' account
8 - you will be prompted that "a folder with said name already exists - would you like to use the existing folder?" - SELECT OK
9 - log out of root
    10- log into your account
SOLUTION 2 for those without TM backup:
    Material needed: Snow Leopard DVD
    1. Boot from DVD: restart at log in menu you're stuck in. Otherwise hard restart. Press "C" while booting.
    2. Change password: in my case only System Administrator (root) and guest appeared. Change the password on System administrator.
    3. log in as "System Administrator" with your new password.
    4. Check to see if the folder with your user name is still there under "User"
    5. Go to System Preference>Account>add account: Set same account name. That will link the new user account with old username account folder. You can also adjust the login window option. For now I checked automatic log in.
    6. Restart. You should be able to log in to your old account.
SOLUTION 3 with TERMINAL (from illude - thanks!):
... I had this exact problem. I installed the 10.6.5 update and when I finally rebooted several days later, all non-system users on my machine were deleted. Only "Other" showed up in the login screen. While the users were removed from the Directory Services, their data was still intact though, as their home directories in /Users were unchanged. This is of course a big relief...
After reading this thread and the pages mentioned here, I came up with the following solution. Please replace "username" with the short (Unix) name of your user account (i.e. the one without spaces).
    1. Start the computer in Single-User Mode, by holding down Command+S as it boots up. You end up in a terminal as the root user.
    2. As suggested on the screen, do the following to check and mount your filesystem:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    3. Find out which accounts have been deleted (here I assume 'username' is one of them):
    defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.preferences.accounts
    4. Convince yourself that the user data is still safe:
    ls /Users/username
    5. I noticed that the 10.6.5 update made backups of the Directory Services and shadow passwords in /private/var/db as the xar archives 'dslocal-backup.xar' and 'shadow-backup.xar', respectively. If you also have these files, you are in luck! Restore the settings for each deleted user, as well as all shadow passwords, as follows:
    cd /private/var/db
    xar -xf dslocal-backup.xar dslocal/nodes/Default/users/username.plist
    xar -xf shadow-backup.xar
    6. For good measure, remove the record of deleted users (not sure if this is necessary, but seemed like a good idea at the time):
    rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.preferences.accounts.plist
    7. Restart the computer:
    shutdown -r now
I restored the settings for all deleted users in Step 5, and everyone was back after the reboot. The great thing is that all settings are restored the way they were, including the password, user GUID (which should prevent Time Machine from redoing a full backup as mentioned in this thread) and the login picture (which was stored in the JPEGPhoto field in the plist file and would have been lost otherwise).
Of course, this solution might not apply to your specific problem, so please take care when you tamper with system settings via Single-User Mode.
SOLUTION 4 using a TimeMachine Backup:
If you have a backup with time machine, reinstall with original OSX DVD.
For that type "C" when booting and hold until system boots from DVD.
Go trough necessary steps, then when asked if you want to restore from a TimeMachine Backup, do so. Will take some hours depending on how big your TM backup is and what kind of interface you use (GBit Network, USB, Firewire etc).
After that your system should be restored. However you proably have to update back again to the latest OSX update you were using with that TM backup, as OSX Mail will crash if it doesn't have that exact update environment. Example: your TM backup was done with 10.6.6., mail will crash often if you restore to 10.6.5...
ATTENTION: there may be some side effects after a restore regarding external volumes, they could be locked out as your old user settings are gone...
After restore I could not access two external drives on my system,
    1) a firewire 2TB Lacie drive that was "locked". I did not have the rights to access it, and CTRL+I and setting the permissions did not work. permissions were not stored. The OSX Harddisk tool also did not work because the "owner" of that drive could not be set.
Solution: A tiny app called "BatChmod" saved the day, it allowed me "unlock" the permissions of that drive, without being a Unix superfreak knowing all the tweaks.
    http://www.macchampion.com/arbysoft/BatchMod/Download.html
    2) I could not access my TimeCapsule TM after restore to refresh the backup. Quite interesting because my system just had restored from that drive. The TimeMachine Volume was locked with that little "lock" symbol left of the volume symbol. CTRL+I and setting permissions did not work too... Within OSX Harddisk Tool a TimeCapsule does not show up so you can't fix permissions there either...
Solution: With Airports TimeCapsule Manual Settings there is a option to delete the volume or folders on it. deleted the sparsebundle and voila the TC could be used again.
If there are any other solutions that worked out for you to recover from lost logins/accounts, please post them here, and do not forget to notify apple about that bug at
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
so that it hopefully finally get's fixed with 10.6.7... it seems to be around since 10.5..., emerged again with 10.6 SL, and now came back with 10.6.6. so that should have been quite a long time to fix it.
    Thx
    Chris

this symptom caught me by surprise just the other day - luckily I had the root account enabled, which is not the default.  With the root account enabled, and an available Time Machine backup, recovery is really simple, straightforward and quick.
For my situation, which may not be identical with those for all who may read this thread, the plist files which define for DirectoryService the users I have created, including my admin accounts, and the password hash files were deleted.
if the root account is not enabled on your system, then I suppose you will have to go through either booting in Single User mode or from a System Install disk that will let you run the Terminal application.  However it is done, once you have the ability to write to the database directories, and access to a Time Machine backup, the recovery process is thus:
Step 1. Verify that the user account home directories still exist, both for peace of mind and to determine whether this recovery method is appropriate for your situation.
    ls -l /Users/
This should show account directories for all the users you have created in the past.  If not, then a restore of the user directories from a Time Machine backup, as well as the user DirectoryService files is indicated.  And, I would propose that the cause of your particular difficulties is other than most in this thread have experienced.
also, just for fun, open the Accounts Preference Pane in the System Preferences, and see that none of your user accounts are listed.  What I found interesting is that the groups that I had created were still defined, it was just the user accounts that were deleted.
Step 2.  now, for the meat of the recovery.  I recommend opening a pair of Terminal windows, one in which to look at the database directories, the other to look at the Time machine directories.
in the "database" window, change directory to the user accounts area.  This is read-write-execute for root only, so if you are not able to cd to this directory, you'll need to wrap the commands in sudo.
    cd  /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/
    ls -l
    [non-root version of commands:  cd /var/db/dslocal/nodes/;  sudo ls -l Default/users/ ]
the result should show a number of plist files, with many system users starting with an underscore, and only a few others:  daemon.plist, nobody.plist, root.plist
Step 3. in  the "TimeMachine" window, change directory to the user accounts area from a recent backup, such as this one for my computer "Odin", backed up to TimeMachineDrive (this is a long path, not a two line entry):
    cd /Volumes/TimeMachineDrive/Backups.backupdb/Odin/2011-04-20-002126/Odin/var/db/d slocal/nodes/Default/users/
    then perform a directory listing:
    ls -l
[non-root version of command is similar to that in Step 2, only need to get to the dslocal/nodes/ directory on the TimeMachine volume]
you should see all the same plist files as in Step 2, along with the additional user accounts definitions for those accounts you originally created.
to restore the definitions to your system, copy the missing plist files to the database directory used in Step 2. For a missing account file "test.plist", this would be:
    cp -X test.plist /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/
    [non-root version of command:  sudo cp -X Default/users/test.plist /var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/ ]
the command option "-X" keeps the extended attributes from being copied along with the file
do the same for each missing plist file.
Step 4. this step restarts DirectoryService, so it becomes aware of newly restored account definitions.
    killall HUP DirectoryService
[non-root version:  sudo killall HUP DirectoryService ]
note:  DirectoryService will recognize the new accounts after a reboot, even without the killall command being issued.  I just like to avoid unnecessary rebooting....
now comes the fun part - open up the Accounts Preference Pane in the System Preferences, or close and reopen if already open, and voila, the missing accounts should all be shown again!  If you perform a listing of the /Users directory, you'll see the account names instead of UID numbers shown as owner of the account directories once again.
    ls -l /Users/
Great!  ready to go, right?  Almost, but we have to fix the ability to log in for these accounts first, by restoring the shadow password hash files.
Step 5. to restore the hash files, we need to know which ones belong to which account, and which directories to restore from and to.  So, in the 'database' window
    cd /var/db/shadow/hash/
    ls -l
    [non-root version:  cd /var/db/;  sudo ls -l shadow/hash/ ]
in the "TimeMachine" window, assuming you are still in the var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/ directory:
    cd ../../../shadow/hash/
    ls -l
[non-root version, assumes you are in the var/db/ directory:  sudo ls -l shadow/hash/ ]
you should see a bunch of files with filenames consisting of uppercase letters, numbers, and dashes.  To determine which file(s) belongs to which account, here is an example for the account "test":
    dscl . -read /Users/test GeneratedUID
[non-root version:  same as root version of command ]
    result should look like:
    GeneratedUID: E7FBADC6-CFCB-4B31-88F9-BB6BD1FAEB52
this long string identifies which hash file(s) belongs with the account "test"
from the "TimeMachine" window, copy the hash file back to the system location:
    cp -X E7FBADC6-CFCB-4B31-88F9-BB6BD1FAEB52* /var/db/shadow/hash/
    [non-root version, all on one line: sudo cp -X shadow/hash/E7FBADC6-CFCB-4B31-88F9-BB6BD1FAEB52* /var/db/shadow/hash/ ]
once this is completed for all the missing accounts, your system should be restored to exactly the condition it was in prior to the user accounts disappearing.
in Solution 3 above, from illude, the file  /Library/Preferences/com.apple.preferences.accounts.plist is mentioned.  I believe this is a file that was generated in Mac OS X 10.4, and maybe 10.5.  I'm pretty sure that a clean fresh install of Mac OS X 10.6, on a new partition for example, will *not* have this file.  Therefore, it a) may not be present, and b) if present, may have contents that don't represent any accounts created since the installation of Snow Leopard on that machine.
be that all as it may - I wish I'd found this thread topic when this first occurred for me. But since I managed a solution, I thought I'd share, in case anyone finds these methods useful.
    cheers,
    Roy

  • Is there any possibility that we will see a bluetooth presenter for the ipad?

As a professional public speaker I can't walk around with a 50m VGA cable holding onto this giant device, on stage, to control my slides.... I know there are bluetooth presenters that can be connected to my mac without any usbs but I want to use the ipad because it is portable and it saves me luggage space when traveling all over the world... Please apple develop this into a version of iOS I really want to use a bluetooth presenter when I am using Keynote please please!

I can see me using an iPhone with keynote paired with a Bluetooth Presenter during a meeting. Bejond it looks just unprefessional and a clearly no go for cooperate business.
You can create your own WiFi network:
You can buy another device, MiFi, which will connect your wifi devicesto a cellular phone network.  I'm sure there are other devicesaround with the same capability.
here is the wiki article on the device.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MiFi
Here is an unlocked MiFi device.  You pay for it!  Takes astandard size sim.  The iPad takes a mini-sim.

I'm not sure what you were referring to by unprofessional?  Carrying a lasar pointer & a iPhone?
I think aple is reluctant to support a blue tooth mouse which providing a bluetooth solution might do.

  • Using an iPad as a Bluetooth keyboard for a mac?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a new iPad as a Bluetooth keyboard for a mac?
I am aware there are a few apps that claim to do this over wifi however I am looking for a Bluetooth solution that would be more permanent?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any way to do do this. There are, I believe, some apps that allow you to remote into a computer and control the desktop, but that's not quite what you are looking for.

  • Lenovo G580(20157) [Win 7] Bluetooth problems??

I have a lenovo G580(20157) which has a BCM4313 wireless chipset which supports both WiFi as well as Bluetooth, (citation here: Broadcom Chipsets)
However I can't use the Bluetooth capability of my chipset.....
I tried downloading drivers from the Lenovo website(Drivers Main Page), but it would say no driver found at the end of the installation!!
Also I downloaded Lenovo Energy Managment, and it only shows WiFi (here is a screenshot)
I also tried downloading Broadcom Bluetooth Solution but itis stuck at detetcting device:
    P.S: I have a new windows 7 installation...Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi ArchKudo,
Looking at the G580 parts (page 102 of the HMM), the Broadcom BCM4313 that the machine uses is a Wi-Fi only card .
      - Link to picture
      - Sample item (BCM4313 with Bluetooth)
      - Sample item (BCM4313 Wi-FI only)
This may explain why you only see the Wi-Fi settings when you press Fn+F5, In this case, you may need to use a usb bluetooth adapter (like this item) to enable bluetooth functionality on the machine.
    Regards

  • Nokia 6230i Bluetooth problem connecting HELP!!!

Hi, I have spent the best part of the day trying to establish whether my new nokia 6230i mobile phone that I received for xmas is faulty or is it something I am doing wrong. I just cannot seem to connect to my computer via the Bluetooth or infrared. I have been reading other peoples problems with the same thing on various websites and I thought rather than try and struggle anymore somebody here may be able to help!!! I downloaded to PC suite that came with the phone, and even downloaded a higher version (apparantly a newer one). But my phone just wont connect. I then managed to download - 1.6.1 from http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=607&kind=8
which seems to be working fine but as soon as i tried to connect it just will not find my connection on my phone. Do i need to buy any other accessories before I can connect?? I might also add that we also tried on my partners laptop and nothing is happening at all.Am i doing something wrong. somebody please tell me if I need to buy extra USB ports before using this feature. Although being Bluetooth I thought this was wireless?? Also any recommendations on how to use the infrared would be great to. Sorry to drag this on - i am not new to phones as i have had many but this has got me stumped. Thanks in advance for any help. Dawnie33

If your Bluetooth solution is Bluesoleil, I would firstly update your Nokia PC Suite to latest version, 6.70.22 from www.nokia.com/pcsuite ( I don't recall by heart what was the level of BlueSoleil support in PC Suite 6.5, but it can be that your problem is partly related to BlueSoleil not being officially supported with that old version of PC Suite (6.5).
Then the next thing is to look around for intructions how you make sure that if you have Windows Xp SP 2 (which has microsoft own Bluetooth sw solution that easily "fights" with any other Bluetooth sw), how you make the Bluesoleil work in your PC flawlessly.
Google is good help for that, search for links like: "BlueSoleil sw problem in XP SP2" or similar and look for instruction how you make sure you only have BlueSoleil sw in active use.
